Agree with others felix a quiet christmas is going to be heavenly! I can't wait for ours. No flustering about with groups of others and family tensions etc. It will be so much easier not having to travel when pg too. Just chill! And next year we will have crazy little one year olds bouncing around meaning it shall never be peaceful again!

fryingpantoface · 13/12/2013 09:49

Toby - good luck today!

don't bother with a maternity pillow. I got one and i think I've used it four times. It makes me too hot in the night.

I'm waiting for the bus to the dentist. I have crap teeth so I'm not looking forward to it, but if she can stop the pain she will be my new best friend.

had tightenings all last night. I'm still brown sludging (sorry!) but my mom, and google, tells me that's a sign of oncoming labour anyway. So we'll see. I'm getting my hair cut this afternoon and i cant wait

Felix90 · 13/12/2013 09:58

Frying good luck at the dentists! I am in desperate need of a hair cut and really need to get it done before the baby arrives but I genuinely can't be arsed. It's so much effort Hmm

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 13/12/2013 10:11

frying I am sending all good vibes. I too have crap teeth, and loathe the dentist, but if she can sort you out then I will ask Santa to send her a big pressie!

toby how's the leg this morning?

felix I agree - DreamGenii pillow was shit, I gave mine away. I use a normal pillow, but I do recommend a wedge shaped pillow for bump support - really works to ease back pain. I got one off Amazon for £10.

TarkaTheOtter · 13/12/2013 10:37

I've got a very long narrow pillow (from Argos I think). It's pretty good but I've been using it from 16 weeks. Not sure I'd spend the money at this stage.

chocoloulou33 · 13/12/2013 10:46

Ive got a v pillow which is great. One end under the bump and one end between the knees.

fryingpantoface · 13/12/2013 11:21

Sadistic dentist doesn't work there anymore! I had a lovely man who said the tooth isn't cracked, it's infected. So I've been given antibiotics. He also cleaned my teeth and i didn't feel it happening at all!! Lovely man

enjoyingscience · 13/12/2013 11:25

we've exchanged! Grin Now we've got to move next Wednesday. Eeep!

So relieved.

Hope everyone's feeling ok today - we got all of the friday 13th stuff out of the way yesterday it seems.

fryingpantoface · 13/12/2013 11:32

Congratulations enjoying!

alteredimages · 13/12/2013 11:38

Girls, what happened? Seriously, all on the same day? Lots and lots of sympathy and Cake to
choco, frying, toby, sarah, and purple. How are you doing curly? Are you out of hospital yet? Flowers

Please note that we only have 12 hours left to fulfil choco's prophecy about the second baby being born. Any news? frying, I am looking at you, but after your hair appt of course. I am not volunteering because I still haven't done my hospital bag,the flat has gone a bit bat cave but without the cool gadgets and we are (hopefully) going to Disneyland again on Sunday.

We went on tues and it was amazing. I have never seen DD so excited in all her life and she was screaming the names of all the characters in the parades and telling them to come back and wait for her. Grin She got super embarrassed meeting the princesses up close though and I have a great photo of her looking like she is about to nut snow white. I would also def recommend visiting while you're pregnant if you aren't fussed about the rides because you get a very useful pass that lets you skip the queues which must have saved us at least two hours of queueing. You also get into the special areas to watch the parades so you get a great view.

frying good luck at the dentist. I have shocking teeth (no enamel cos I had meningitis when I was 15 months so it never formed on my adult teeth) and always get told off when I go.

purple I hope DD's party goes well and that you don't overstress it. The owl theme sounds brilliant.

enormouse yay for getting your christmas tree! We don't celebreate christmas now but I can't do christmas without the smell of a real christmas tree. I wish someone did a decent christmas tree candle so I could cheat. To me they always just smell of toilet cleaner.

I am a bit late, but mythree I am 37+3 and due 9th jan (41 weeks), or 2nd jan if we're doing 40.

alteredimages · 13/12/2013 11:40

Oops, x post.

Great news about the dentist frying and congratulations enjoying! Woo! Just remember not to clean anything. And stick a dead mouse in the most difficult to reach part of the house. Smile

MrsVDB · 13/12/2013 12:06

Woop enjoying how exciting! New house for Christmas :)

enormouse · 13/12/2013 12:41

Congratulations enjoying. Must be such a relief for you.

frying so happy that you seem to be on the up. Been a rough few days for you. Just booked myself and DS a haircut. We all seem to get the same cut (pixie cut with a heavy fringe) so it looks like there's an enormouse family special.

altered must be the pine fresh synthetic smell, it does smell toilet-y. Bless your dd btw, sounds lovely.

Thanks for all the pelvis and spd advice felix, humpty, and everyone else I've forgotten. I remember my Dsil having one of those wedge pillows when she was pg with twins and they're cheaper than the dream geaniis so it's a win win.

Am having a fairly productive day. Drafted my ucas statement, will finish it when DS is in bed tonight and email it to my lecturer for checking. Put away DSs too small clothes and babyish toys for number 2, and to make room for all the new stuff he'll undoubtedly receive at Christmas. Have sorted out more bits for the labour and hospital bag. Baby's bits are more or less sorted. And tidied the house. I'm determined to pull together any loose ends before Christmas/New year.

Yaay for productivity and feeling better even though it's Friday 13th! Xmas Grin

curlywurlyllass · 13/12/2013 13:00

Hi all,
been trying to catch up from hospital bed, but its so hard to concentrate with ladies with crying babies, ladies crying in pain from inductions and constant monitoring of blood pressure, protein in urine, blood tests, baby heartbeat traces, Blood glucose monitoring and now internal exams! I have absolutely no modesty left in tact

Someone placing bets on who has the next baby? space was first with the lovely Idris who was taken to look over mummy n daddy

I may be next unless someone goes naturally over the next few days :) my body isnt coping well with pre eclampsia, i was given 2x doses f steroids this week and i have my induction planned to start on sunday, moving towards Csection on tues if no progress- exciting but scary

Struggling to concentrate but i will b back to catch up later on (got to post 400 but now you are past 600)

enjoyingscience · 13/12/2013 13:05

Bless you curly sounds like hospital sucks.

Sunday though Shock Smile that's exciting! Fingers crossed it works quickly.

Mythreeknights · 13/12/2013 13:31

Ahhhh, this video has made me cry so much (in a good way)...much recommended if you are feeling a bit shitty right now

www.godvine.com/What-This-Airline-Did-for-Its-Passengers-Will-Make-You-Tear-Up-So-Heartwarming-4378.html

Felix90 · 13/12/2013 13:47

Wow curly not long now then! Hospital sounds so hectic Shock

OnlyThePurpleOnes · 13/12/2013 13:50

Oh god, mythree, that's had had me in bits yesterday! But then so did a wee boy giving up his smarties for DD at her party today because she cried. I'm useless atm!

Yes Belgian chocolate coated Oreos, ladies. You read that correctly!! Although not sure how long they will last as DH has just stuffed three in his face in quick succession. They are posh foil covered ones, sent in a lovely care package from my aunt in the states.

The party went off well today, the owl cake was amazing and all our friends pitched in to help out with cleaning up etc. DD had a wonderful morning and we've all dozed on the sofa watching toy story this afternoon.

Poor you curly, fingers crossed for you that thins pick up.

Altered we took dd to Disneyland in the summer. She is obsessed with Mickey Mouse club house and vaguely knew of the princesses etc. it was so amazing seeing her face when we first saw Minnie! Glad your family had a lovely time.

And congrats enjoying!! That's great news.

fryingpantoface · 13/12/2013 14:40

Purple - great news about the party
curly - eek! Not long now!!

the hairdresser has been and gone, i have a bob now which is nice. Not sure about the fringe, but it'll look different when i wash my hair and style it myself.

tightenings still happening. My birthing ball will be here tomorrow so will get on that!

Felix90 · 13/12/2013 14:53

Purple glad the party went well! Good that everyone helped out and she had a good day.

Frying I need to re-inflate my ball. Going to get OH on the case tonight and bounce baby in to submission.

Booked a fitting at Bravissimo tomorrow morning for a nursing bra. Haven't been in to town for months because I can't walk very far with the SPD so hoping I won't struggle too much tomorrow. Really need to nip to primark to see if I can get another button down nightie, pyjamas and some cheapy leggings and a couple of tops for my hospital bag. Then have an abdominal scan at 12 to check my liver. Got to fast all morning and only allowed to drink water which is rubbish! I know town is going to be super busy and I'll just rage at everyone Angry

Had a bit of a teary meltdown last night about the whole prospect of giving birth and being responsible for another human being and not feeling prepared! It's not felt very real until recently and now it's just suddenly dawned on me. So scary Confused Think I'm having a bit of an 'oh shit I'm only 23 and can barely look after myself never mind a baby' moment. I'm also convinced I'm not going to be able to cope with giving birth. I've had problems with anxiety on and off for a few years and I've felt fine since I found out about the pregnancy but now it's getting a bit overwhelming and the anxiety is flooding back.

Sorry that was a bit long, just needed to vent.

TobyLerone · 13/12/2013 15:06

So curly's looking set to be next, then! How exciting :o

Glad the party went well, Purple :)

Felix, I had a giant teary meltdown last night too, but not about the birth. I think it might have been a bit of delayed shock. Poor DH isn't used to me crying and has been thanking his lucky stars that I'm not one of those hormonal pregnant women. I think he thought I'd lost it last night!

Thanks for the good wishes, all. I managed to see the nurse and she re-dressed the blistered areas and wants to see me again on Monday. She said she wants to 'keep an eye on me'.

Spacefrog35 · 13/12/2013 15:38

look after yourself Toby - you've enough on your plate without your legs going green & dropping off!

Congrats on the house enjoying

Purple, so glad the party went well.

Felix, perfectly natural to be nervous, rant away, that's what we're here for

Curly, hope you're doing ok? Without trying to freak you out have they mentioned to you if miniwurly might need anytime in scbu being a little bit early? If you can, ask them to let you have a quick look round in the next couple of days so that if you do end up in there you know where it is & what happens. Lots of hospitals will let you do this if they know you might be in there for a couple of days. Takes a lot of pressure off if you're vaguely familiar with it. Will keep everything crossed for you Thanks.

Cake and Brew to everyone I've forgotten Blush

Toothfairy78 · 13/12/2013 15:41

Sooo just finished work and am on mat leave officially!

And OMG I see loads of you have been in and out of hospital/triage/A&E etc like fiddler's elbows. Hugs and Flowers all round!

Right I'm going into town for a potter about I think.

OP posts:
extracrunchy · 13/12/2013 15:50

Curly that's exciting! How many weeks are you? So jealous you'll meet your little one soon Smile

Toby burns sound like the last thing you need - hope they heal quickly. Ouch.

Purple well done with DD's party! Sounds amazing.

Enjoying congrats on the house!! Lovely to have it sorted before Christmas.

Felix it's totally ok to rant! And normal to worry about those things. In fact you'd be in a tiny minority of you didn't! You'll be amazing.

I've had no more contractions since Tuesday, booked for a sweep on Tuesday next week. (Forgot to say - due date - have had two... 28/12 and 14/12 so I'm going with 21/12 and please please please before Christmas!)
