Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
dreamydowler · 14/07/2006 13:27

I use those disposable knickers they are cheap and easy to just rip off and throw away. has anyone tried those pram or buggy boards for older child

dressedupnowheretogo · 14/07/2006 13:28

dreamer wicked idea btw

eenywifemum · 14/07/2006 13:29

I have two tattoos and I did have my belly button pierced but I took it out about 5 years ago as it was stinky although I did clean it! The hole still hasnt closed up which is pretty annoying really.

Booby - Arabica is a good one to talk to about what to pack for a c-section - I seem to remember she said HUGE knickers so they go over the scar and a book - but ask her she'd know better than me!

PinkTulips · 14/07/2006 13:32

have 2 tattoos as well and will be getting tattoos for the kids once i'm finishd bf-ing. my beely pirecing got ripped years ago so is really far out, only took it out for last few weeks of preg last time and hole was still open to put it back in after wards... had to take it out last week as i kept catching it in things i brushed against... ouch!

dressedupnowheretogo · 14/07/2006 13:36

i have three tattoos and i'm designing another with madams initals which are also the same as me and dh in eygptian as thats were we decided to get pregnant

am watching magic music chaneel proper cheesy music im loving it

Arabica · 14/07/2006 13:36

Booby, I will have 5 hideous pyjamas/night shirty things I can wear with trackies; (you will get boiling hot and covered in milk, well I did anyway) 3 packs of 5 comedy applecatcher granny big pants; 2 hammock feeding bras plus some handwash stuff so you can give them a wash in the sink; (I don't think it's worth buying lots of bras as I v quickly went down to an f cup from a J and needed a smaller back size so not worth spending loads for me). My advice would be to keep your bra on at all times even when you are sleeping, as big boobs can be very hot and uncomfortable when milk comes in. Standard stay after a C section is now only 3 days at my hosp. Must also remind you, if bf is hard work it is not your fault--big boobs plus C-section equals difficult to position. Persevere if that is what you want, insist on assistance not criticism and don't take any crap.

eenywifemum · 14/07/2006 13:36

I wish I had never got the belly piercing as its been more trouble than its worth.

I had it done for free at a rave when I was 19 in exchange for going out on a date with the piercer who I promptly never called! oh dear! haha Well see I had dated him before that and he cheated on me so this was me getting my own back. Ooh I sound really shallow!! Sorry! Anyway it was a long time ago! Sorry Sal! XXX

Arabica · 14/07/2006 13:37

I want a tattoo but I think I am a bit too old, whaddya think?

eenywifemum · 14/07/2006 13:37

See Booby I knew Arabica would know her stuff!

dressedupnowheretogo · 14/07/2006 13:43

arabica your never too old lol

did you take in an outfit to come home in shocked you will only be in for three days its 4-5 iin notts

lol at eeny with the peircer go girl

does anyone know whats happed to bhm i thought she left work this week

dreamydowler · 14/07/2006 13:44

you are never too old go for it I say

PinkTulips · 14/07/2006 13:44

never too old! i put all mine in places that are easy to hide so no-one knows i have them if i don't want them too.... the back is a good place to get them done if your worried about them sagging in years to come as the skin is a bit tauter.... plus grannies don't generally feel the need to wear clothes that show off their backs so who'd know?

my dp is getting the kids names in hebrew on his forearms. we picked hebrew names as we love them and he came up with the idea of getting them in the hebrew lettering... luckily if baby is a Caleb the names will match really nicely and he's getting them so they face each other when he holds his arms together facing up.

eeny... piercer dude sounds dodgy so he deserved being stiffed on payment . my piercer threw a fit as i got punched in the tummy a weeks after getting the belly piercing and it went all red and swollen and infected... he was convinced it would come out but it's been clinging on to a tiny piece of skin for 7 years now!

dressedupnowheretogo · 14/07/2006 13:45

dreamy have you had all children naturally

sorry to be nosey

dressedupnowheretogo · 14/07/2006 13:47

my dh is pertified of needles bless him but would love to have a tattoo if only we could find some one who would do it with you asleep thats the only way

i had to hold him down to get his injections done for eygpt and our caribbean honeymoon as he shakes that much you have to hold on to him as he's lying down

he's dreading my section bless him

PinkTulips · 14/07/2006 13:54

dp acts all macho for that sorta stuff so he'll probably be fine.... oddly enough he was always really against tattos (on him, not in general) until dd came along then he announced suddenly he'd like to get one for her... i think in a funny way he wants to go through a little of what i went through giving birth to her if that makes any sense.... probably doesn't!

Arabica · 14/07/2006 13:54

Booby he won't have to see anything nasty, my DH was just the same and even said he was scared to watch DS coming out in case he'd faint; but the anaesthetist said he'd catch him if he did! In the end DH was absolutely fascinated and forgot to feel wobbly.
IIRC, it might be a 5-day stay just for first-time mums at my hosp. Be warned it will feel like 2 months!
PT, funny for me that you should want hebrew letters--I was forced to learn to write them at Cheda (Sunday school for Jewish kids) and deeply resented it, being an ardent 8 year-old atheist!

dressedupnowheretogo · 14/07/2006 13:57

id love something in hindi my great gran was indian but my dh is v suspicious of anything like that in case they write you smell or something equally stupid

Arabica · 14/07/2006 13:59

Yes I went home in size 8 jeans. Not. I wore a big baggy pair of maternity jeans! I remember the world seemed much dirtier and more threatening now I had a tiny baby to look after and DH seemed to drive much too fast and I kept telling him to slow down. Oh, and it took him about 30 min to work out how the car seat fitted in the car. Moral: practise first!

eenywifemum · 14/07/2006 14:00

Pink I really like the name Caleb! I have a cousin of that name.

Arabica I agree that you are NOT too old!! Silly girl. I have my big one on my back (like Pink, my thinking was I can cover it up if I need to) and a tiny music note on my ankle that I got when I went to the 1998 MTV music awards. I got the tattoo instead of eating for 2 days, I was that broke and wanted it that badly!

Arabica · 14/07/2006 14:00

PT you better get him to have a tattoo in a v sensitive place then, so he can really empathise!

PinkTulips · 14/07/2006 14:11

trust me... the inside of the arms is supposedly one of the worst because the skin is so thin so he'll suffer!

off to the beach now to cool down... yay

janeggybee · 14/07/2006 14:20

just got back from appt. no major infection worries . asked about induction at 40 wks and they said it would depend on my overall health etc, do a membrane sweep (what is this???) but that is it. my m/wife is pregnant too but due in sep. spent most of appt. comparing bumps/swollen clown hands/inability to cut one's own nails!! etc.
had one nipple pierced from years ago (hubby had his done too - much fun had there )no others apart from 4 sets of ear-piercings. have seahorse tattoo on right shoulder blade which is very tasteful and actually complemented wedding dress.
as far as baby clothes for end/aug baby i would by a few newborn items of the summery variety (no legs etc) and by 0-3mths in legged clothes.

about the nov thread -

yes but how often do they change theirs? We go through a new one every other week or so it seems these days! (slight exaggeration but you can tell I take pride in the fact that we are the most talkative antenatal group on MN!)

Glad your appointment went well Janeggy!

janeggybee · 14/07/2006 14:33
