OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
muminaquandary · 14/07/2006 10:13

I find that waking the other half with blood curdling cries of pain is often quite effective ..... I am such a wimp!

dreamydowler · 14/07/2006 10:20

I have three older girls aged 15 16 and 18 two boys aged 13 and 8 and a little girl aged 3 this is baby number 2 to my other half and Ive a feeling he may want more but Im fast approaching 40(later this year) and had 2 miscarriages before catching with this baby so Im not sure Its nice to hear of other large families though people look at you as though you are clinically insane sometimes which is probably true but soo beside the point My sister had a baby on sunday he was 9lb 12 they seem to be getting bigger dont you think Im booked in for a growth scan in 3 weeks and my mw thinks they may want to induce me earlier aaaggghh as still decorating and havent bought crib yet

pucca · 14/07/2006 11:21

How do everyone

Welcome to the newbies

Eeny & Sal, Really glad you decided to stay, and wasn't put off by that stupid thread

Dreamy...I tried everything for heartburn when pg last time and finally right at the end found REMEGEL, they are chewy sweets and are not chalky at all and really instant relief so have been stocking up on them this time around and gone through lots of them, have packets everywhere lol.

Well my bump has definately dropped lol, has anyone elses? I am really suffering with SPD this time around, wearing my support belt and does ease it a little but still in a lot of pain, been getting loads of braxton hicks too, didn't get any at all 1st time around.

Is anyone who is on subsequent babies dreading the afterpains? I have been told they are pretty nasty! Something for us all to look forward too eh?

Don't think i have mentioned what we are calling our little boy, noticed on the stats that some have names next to them, anyway we have decided on George Henry. DD is quite impressed as is obsessed with peppa pig lol! and has been saying baby george for a few weeks now! lol

muminaquandary · 14/07/2006 11:26

dreamy they are definitely getting bigger

pucca after pains are the worst - and no-one ever tells you about them 1st time around!!

never mind, hopefully c/s will lessen them ... plse no-one tell me any different!!

PinkTulips · 14/07/2006 11:42

dreading the afterpains as i got mild ones first time round so i've been warned by midwife to expect them to be horrific.... and don't take painkillers so that should be fun

we're calling baby Caleb if he's a boy but we're a bit unsure about girls names, theres one i love that i want to use but it doesn't quite 'fit' with dp's surname IYKWIM, might still go for it though.... although i have a suspicion i won't need a girls name

as for differances between pregnancies
no.1-
violently sick for months
exhausted
completely off sex
small bump
gained about 15 kgs in total
extremely leaky boobs
back pain
rib pain
heartburn

no.2-
hardly sick at all
was bfing dd, working and dd wasn't in nighttime routine for first 3 months so i was like a zombie
quite horny
bigger bump
gained 15kgs+ already
no leaky boobs at all
excruciating hip and pelvis pain
rib pain
no heartburn

guess why i tink it's a boy?!

dreamydowler · 14/07/2006 11:54

hi pucca thanks for the remegel advice will have to give them a try Ive been getting really bad braxton hicks for a couple of evenings now too also have psd went to get fitted with a belt last week but really dont feel comfortable with it my sister had a different one so am going to ask for it to be changed My daughter wanted to call our baby josie jump but have decided on sophie jane

PinkTulips · 14/07/2006 12:01

my god...i've never gotton rid of jehovah's witnesses so fast in my life! that was wierd.... they just handed me a leaflet, asked about the baby and went off again.... feel sorta cheated now!

frodofitz · 14/07/2006 12:27

Afternoon peeps, well was going to come on last night and have a proper chat however picked dh up had tea and was in bed for 17.30!!! Sooo tired. Slept til 10pm had an hour read and slept til 9 this morning! However sleep was totally broken in the night, thought my waters had broken but thought well if they have i'm sure pain will wake me back up! Anyone else's bladder completely nackered? Think i got up for the loo about 6 times in the night!

Also on rasberry leaf tea, not too bad!

Really like Maddison and Sarahlou LOVE Molly, it is really sweet.

Went to boots to claim my free Emma's diary pack and was soooo disappointed!!! Bounty packs are the best, in E/Diary all i got were 5 leaflets a small box of All Bran and some fruit jelly things, oh and a mini tube of palmers!
Have kept the All Bran for when things are so desperate we can't afford to eat and have packed the palmers in hosp bag, rest went in the bin!

However did spend advantage points on milton spray and hand gel, maternity bed pads, rattle and a mooing cow play thing...not bad eh!

Did about +6 loads of baby's clothes and bedding etc yesterday and now have to iron it, i'm a lucky lady!
xx

lunavix · 14/07/2006 12:40

For my differences with pregnancies:

no.1 (ds)
no sickness at all, didn't even know I was preg until 12/13 weeks
horny as!
huge great bump - I put on 5 stone!!!!
huge great everything else - swelled up like a balloon
still comfortable walking a minimum of 4 miles a day right up until the end
had the dark line thing from around 30 weeks, plus dark patches on my neck and chest.
very bad heartburn - due to all I wanted to eat was fruit
Hair went funny and matted to my head every time I washed it. Even a team of six hairdressers weren't able to comb it out.
Was up every 5 min during the night wee-ing
Ds kicked so hard we said he'd be a footballer

no.2-
extremely sick for first 18 weeks - hence finding out at 3 weeks!
knackered in first trimester, knackered in second, and knackered in third!
do NOT want sex
smaller, tidier bump - think I've put on about a stone and a half (not including what I lost through sickness though!)
excruciating pelvis pain when walking - can't manage more than half a mile tops
rib pain
No swelling - even in the heat - wedding rings still fit!
Lovely hair
Eating all junk food, don't really want fruit at all.
Wee all day, don't really get up at night
Baby rarely moves

Well this is what's leading me to think it's a girl as it's dead opposite! Althoguh ironically I've been told all these things that make it opposite usually result in a boy... hmm!

eenywifemum · 14/07/2006 12:49

morning all! um... afternoon

as this is my first pregnancy I havent got anything to compare it to!!

I am definitely up all night to pee - at least 6 times I should think. Driving me mad. I would KILL for some unbroken sleep! I mean KILL. For 10 hours where I sleep like the dead.

Alex's mattress didnt arrive yesterday so I have to stay in again today to wait for it. I dozed off an on this morning and I am paranoid they tried to deliver it and I didnt wake up but I doubt that as I slept very lightly and there is no note left through the door... Oh I hate waiting for deliveries!

Arabica dont you HATE those mirrors?? Why why why??

Pucca I love the name!! George Henry has a really classy sound to it. Great! Grown up for when he is older but cute for when he is tiny!

Frodo - I got that Emma's diary pack as well - it sucks doesnt it! And to add insult to injury, the last 4 days they have called me 5 times to offer me accident insurance via Emma's Diary!! I keep saying I am not interested and they keep calling back!! I was NOT very nice to the person who called yesterday.

janeggybee · 14/07/2006 12:53

good afternoon people and bellies!! been to aquanatal class this morning (sooo nice to feel weightless!!)am now eating a pregnancy sandwich of ham, philly, gherkins, pickled onions and beetroot. have appt. with m/wife this afternoon and will have to check that penis finger has not caused full body infection as that would be bad!! emma's diary gift pack is rubbish but bounty gift pack is good .

OP posts:
lunavix · 14/07/2006 12:57

lol at packs. My bounty one was v. average but friends one was stuffed.. apparently it depends where you get it from. I was actually quite excited by the orange nurofen pouch in the box thingy as ds's medicine always leaks everywhere. Having said that he will only take one type of nurofen and hates calpol medised etc, so lucky boy usually ends up with suppositries

Finished a thorough clean of the lounge, did the kitchen yesterday just need to mop, and I need to work on the dining room and porch.. if I can get all that done, I can look very smug when dh arrives home this evening (downstairs is currently my cleaning responsibility, upstairs - which is totally trashed! - is his!)

I'm finding nesting really kicking in - I keep reorganising the babys clothes in the wardrobe, plus I keep binning stuff- I'm usually a carbooter not a binner!

There's a nice sale on at Mothercare.. I'm sure everyone knows bar me but I haven't been there for ages. MIL got the baby a nice top, plus got me an outfit this nice floaty summer skirt it's not really my style normally (more a jeans person) but I don't have a huge amount of summer 'bottoms' so rather appreciate it! Plus total bargain...

dreamydowler · 14/07/2006 13:15

Decisions decisions just an nexcuse to do more shopping really About differences in boy girl pregnancies I was definitely sicker with all my girls and smaller bump with my two boys I hope your midwife appointment goes well janeggybee

Arabica · 14/07/2006 13:17

Hi everyone.
Pregnancy with DS:
Not sick
Backache
Starving hungry for carb-rich foods like chips, chocolate
Could tolerate red wine
Put on 5st and got lots of stretch marks
Felt randy towards end of pregnancy only
No leaky boobs
Not much kicking felt
Knackered in afternoons
Swollen legs/feet

This pregnancy:
Very nauseous until 14wks
Back not really a problem
Keener on savoury foods
Red wine makes me feel sick: strictly sparkling!
3st on and no stretch marks
Rest the same, except ankles and legs much worse.

However, this has been a very, very stressful pregnancy and I'm more aware of every twinge as a result.
37+2!!

PinkTulips · 14/07/2006 13:17

jan - saw your thread on your nipple piercing, you got many other piercings? i've got my nose, lip, bellybutton and tonnes in my ears. missing my nipplie piercing though, can't wait to get it done again after i'm done feeding this baby!

eenywifemum · 14/07/2006 13:21

booby I have emailed you again from a different email address as the one I usually use seems to not be working at the moment! Hope it goes alright with your Mum and Dad. I know its easier to say than do but try not to worry about it too much, you have a lot to deal with as it is having a baby and all!

dreamy - I have bought mainly just regular vests and babygros but with a few things for summer and a few for winter (when I say 'few' read 'a drawer full'!!) but mainly I am trying to wait to buy more til I know which way the wind is blowing, pun intended

dreamydowler · 14/07/2006 13:22

wow thats a lot of piercings I would love a tattoo but am too much of a coward wanted one with kids initials on but am settling on an eternity ring with all 7 of their birthstones in it

dressedupnowheretogo · 14/07/2006 13:24

im missing my navel peircing too and as for my nipple peircing i had to take that out at 4 weeks as my boobs were hurting so much my milk leaks out the two side hole so that side is particulary leaky sorry if tmi

ok what do i pack in my hospital bag for a c section for me clothes or night wear and how many pairs of comedy pants

dreamydowler · 14/07/2006 13:24

me too I have a suitcase full of girls dresses from my last daughter anyway but will need to get some winter things or some tights I think
