p.s. to those clever list makers I am a South East Londoner x x

olivo · 24/07/2006 12:16

have just done a mammoth shop in boots for things for labour bag and baby things ( eighty quid - thank goodness for tax free shopping!!)- thought i was going to die in the car park with all the baggage!!

off to wallow in PIL pool and eat as many chunky kit kats as i can
at your dd melsy. this heat is ridiculous isnt it.

melsy · 24/07/2006 12:21

oooh a pool olivo, how lovely lovely lovely.

Online shopping is soooo soo great hey. Hate to think how much all my toiletres and stuff has cost for labour bag. Mines nearly done & babes is all ready I think , just have to go and buy MAMMOTH feeding bras , got measured at wkend! I cant belive I weigh so much less than with dd , but my feeding size is 2 sizes bigger , doesnt make sense , but I tried on her feeding bras and sure enough theyre to tight even on last hook, very odd.

hmmm, i've got the joy of getting measured next week, then i'll have to go online and order something ( any ideas anyone?) as we only have mothercare here so no choice for bras.

PinkTulips · 24/07/2006 12:48

WELL DONE P42!!!!!!

gorgeous names too, my dd is a sarah and matthew is lovely too

congrats on the natural birth, you must be so proud of yourself. hope the feeding goes well and keep us posted

aussiemamma, are they not making you go into hospital? any contractions yet? oooooooo so exciting

PinkTulips · 24/07/2006 12:51

melsy, have the same problem with the nursing bras from last time, was wearing them as maternity bras right up to the end with dd but they haven't fit since easter this time!

don't want to rush out and buy more til i see what size i am after baba comes though

BigHotMama · 24/07/2006 13:16

Wow! I cant believe we have had 3 arrivals already? Congrats to PF2 and Mojomummy! Bet your both chuffed to bits. Sounds like you both had good labours too, very re-assuring for us lot then! Mojo has your DD got a name yet?

Good luck Aussiemama, and Booby hope your ok!

Well I'm trying all sorts at the moment to get things started - even treated DH to a sex sesh yesterday - (1st time in 2 months!) Any twinge or cramp I had last night kept DH on his toes kept asking if it was a contraction lol and looking bit scared bless him! Have bought a pineapple to munch on and am already on the rasberry teas which I find quite nice with squirt of honey. Even had a spicy curry but hasnt started anything yet?

I have a midwife appointment this pm so will also be asking if baby is engaged as I aint got a clue either? I know bab has been head down since around week 34. And to be honest I have felt more pelvic type pain/cramps over the last week or so so maybe its getting all prep'd down there.

I have been nesting like mad lately - even took to cleaning wires, extension leads for the t.v and doors which is not my thing at all? I vacummed all around the flat today and the sweat on my face was unbelievable - looked like I'd been in the ring with Tyson ha!

Still got fat ankles, and have noticed my fingers have swollen? Its actually hurting me to make a fist - they dont look bad but feel very tight - yuk!

Well must dash DH is coming with me to my MW appointment as wants to hear baba's hb again as may be his last chance you never know?

Hope your all well, catch up properly tomorrow with everyone!

38 weeks today!

eenywifemum · 24/07/2006 14:29

PREPARING FOR TWO!!!!!

As Cliff says:
Congratulations and celebrations
When you tell everyone that you've had two babies
Congratulations and jubilations
You want the world to know you're happy as can be

Who would believe that you could be happy and contented
You used to think that happiness hadn't been invented

... and so on and so on...

eenywifemum · 24/07/2006 14:45

eenywifemum · 24/07/2006 15:02

check out this link I posted in chat...

twins then sextuplets!

AGJ · 24/07/2006 16:02

Hi everyone

Thought I'd do a quick post as haven't for ages. Congratulations regarding the 3 babies born - it is exciting to realise the end is in sight!

At my last check which was 36 weeks the mw couldn't feel the head which meant it had dropped right down and was fully engaged so I'm glad it is getting ready hopefully! It isn't due for 2.5 weeks but I feel like the days are dragging especially not being able to do much with all the hot weather.

sarahlou1uk · 24/07/2006 16:13

Olivo - maternity bra places. I have just got mine from figleaves. It is a bravado one and fits from size 38F - 42G in one bra! OK, so you have to put it over your head like a sports bra but it's actually quite comfy (especially if you are well endowed to start with like me!). It should have been £26 incl p&p but I found a discount code and got it for £19 (it's a feeding one by the way). Figleaves have other makes as well and have free returns so you can order more than one and send the ones back that don't fit. I must admit I have found m/c ones in the past to be a fairly crap fit - m&s much better. Another websites to try is naturallyclose. HTH

sarahlou1uk · 24/07/2006 16:15

Forgot to say - congratulations to preparing for 2! YIPPEE!!!

PS. I'm so of you whose babys' head has engaged. DD still insists on lying across me despite a severe talking to. See mw on Wednesday so will see what she suggests.

By the way, IT'S TOO HOT!!!!

Mojomummy · 24/07/2006 17:13

Congratulations & welldone, Preparingfor 2

Were you prepared ??!! How are your little one's heads after the ventouse ?

This weather is such hard work - we are thinking of moving down to my mums for a couple of days (& moving her to my grans !) so we can be by the sea air.

Lunarvix, whereabouts in Berks are you ?

Micku5 · 24/07/2006 17:40

Hi guys...... Had a very quick scan of the messages, I see some congratualations are due. Well done!!

Just to add my news as well. I had baby Talia on Friday night at 10.14 after an urgent c-section. She weighed 6lbs at birth. She had some problems with an infection, jaundice which seemed to be clearing up but today the hit us with the news that she has a hole in the heart as well as a couple of other problems.

Every time I say that I start crying, although I am home they are keeping her in for a few more days as she has to finish her course of antibiotics. She has an appointment with the cardilogist from Guys in 3 weeks time.

So at the moment is take each days as it comes.

Aussiemama · 24/07/2006 17:49

Hello

No Melsy, definately waters breaking! Lots and lots of water. Called the hospital and they said come in for monitoring and then go home. I went in and they just did some checks so now I'm back at home just waiting for labour to kick in properly. It's taking ages - anyone any ideas on how to get things going (apart from walking around, which I am doing!) If I don't start by Wed morning I have to go back in and have it all started for me.

Congratulations but sorry about your news Micku5 - my mum was born with a hole in her heart and it all looked very serious at the time but she is now 56 and is incredibly healthy. Apart from when she was a baby it hasn't given her any trouble. Hope things go well for you.

PinkTulips · 24/07/2006 17:50

Micku, you poor thing. at least they've diagnosed the problem and are doing what they can, i'm sure Talia will be just fine, medical treatment for babies with heart conditions has never been better. i love the name btw

Stay strong and we'll all be thinking of you both. Congratulations and try and relax and enjoy each other without worrying too much (impossible i know)

YellowFeathers · 24/07/2006 17:56

CONGRATULATIONS PF2!

and a big well done to you. Great to hear the feeding is going well.

Fabby!

Sorry I missed your evening gals. Hope you had a good one.

Well I've packed my hospital bag now. I've done filled the changing bag with babys bits and I've got a small bag for myself.
Can I just list what I've put in mine cos it looks as though there isn't very much.
I've got; 2 maternity/nursing nighties, 2 pairs of stretchy PJ's (one long and one short), breast pads, maternity pads, disposable knickers and smelly bag with basics in. Does that sound ok?

I've also booked a TENS machine today from TENShire.co.uk. £24 for 6 weeks hire, 1 extra battery and postage. Didn't think that was bad tbh. I've also had to change my birth plan yet again since I've changed my mind on the water birth!

Might not get on alot over the next few days so with that in mind...

Arabica, all the very very very best to you. I hope all goes well for Thursday (I'm sure it will) and I'll look forward to hearing your announcement.
Lots of love
xxx

YellowFeathers · 24/07/2006 17:57

Fantastic

Well done!!!!

YellowFeathers · 24/07/2006 17:58

Am thinking of you and baby Talia

PinkTulips · 24/07/2006 18:08

Feathers, don't see any of these on your list;

nursing bras
slippers
nipple cream
magazines for when babies asleep and you don't have visitors
chocolate
towels
