hello bellies!!!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
PinkTulips · 23/07/2006 21:41

quiet, can't really go anywhere without the damn car. hope to god it's fixed by tomorrow or we're going to go completely mad!

sounds like you've had a lovely relaxing weekend, very jealous! dp and i are debating whether or not to rent a movie tonight, want to see Lucky Number Slevin but we're too lazy to walk to the video shop to get it

Salamander · 23/07/2006 22:00

Ok Hi everyone, or whoever is here.

Just a bit of advice please - do any of you have experience of the babby's head engaging?

We were just finishing a late Sunday supper of grilled mediterranean vegetable sandwiches when eeny shouted out in pain - different shout to the many i've heard today with Junior pummeling a particular section of her insides.

I managed to help her stand up right - gravity helping and all that.
I got her through onto her birthing ball.

I asked her to describe it:
"Feels like an impact on the other side of my bits and really sharp pain everywhere down below and er... this was all with his movement feeling like it was going down and er... sitting on the birthing ball has stopped the pain... OW! Not quite stopped the pain of him pushing into my ribs though!!"

However it is still going on the 'engaged' pain - she is wincing and not enjoying it...

Does any of this sound familiar?

Salamander · 23/07/2006 22:01

the pain stopped for a while on the birthing ball but has come back again and now gone again!

Arabica · 23/07/2006 22:03

Hi everyone. Been too hot and knackered to climb upstairs to the attic office and log on (it's all of 12 steps, but they're steep and it's an oven up here). Many, many mazeltovs to Mojomummy--how dare you be the first to give birth on this thread, that's my job! Glad to hear all is going well.
We're still sorting things out here, but I have managed to pack myself a hospital bag, a baby bag and a DS bag. I had my last consultant appt on Friday--next hosp visit is Weds, day before the section. They get you to sign the consent form, take bloods, check you've waxed properly etc etc.
I've spend most of yesterday and today asleep on the bed whilst DH has entertained an increasingly hysterical DS--he's getting v wound up about the impending birth; his fears are around me being in hospital I think. He has never been away from me or DH overnight, as we don't have useful relatives and he's never even had a sleepover at any of his friends' before. He's finding it very hard to settle at night and keeps coming out of his room saying he's scared to be alone. We're being understanding but firm...
Sad I missed the cheese & wine. I've been having RL wine and chocolate ice cream, though.

PinkTulips · 23/07/2006 22:19

sal, sounds exactly like baby dropping down to me. my LO squeezes me down below something unmerciful and it can be quite painful, espacially in the mornings when i first get up for some reason. at least its a positive sign that Alex is getting ready to shift though, give her a big hug from me

PinkTulips · 23/07/2006 22:22

hi arabica, i'm so excited for you! sorry ds is a upset though, must be so stressful for you, i know i'm dreading missy feeling like she's been abandoned when we go into hospital as she's never been without both of us before (only once when she was asleep and didn't know)

Arabica · 24/07/2006 01:37

At least you can explain things a little bit with a 5 year-old. Obviously he's still very young though, so we don't really expect him to understand fully that mummy really can love 2 children without diminishing what I feel for him. I'm not sure I really know how that works myself--I just know it does.

dressedupnowheretogo · 24/07/2006 08:15

just to let you know ended up at the hospital again in the end last night

apparently she is now 3/5 engaged and im experincing strong braxton hicks my bps low so maybe that was the woozy feeling

baba is fine very active a good size apparently

got my mental appt today so should be interesting

my dh is trying to talk me out of having a section because of the recovery an dbeacause he thinks i'll be better i think he menas after ive been through a natural labour
ithink he's scared of me having a section he doesnt do blood and gore

any ideas arabica

Arabica · 24/07/2006 09:27

Booby, sorry to hear what's happening. I think all the anxiety about how you're going to deliver the baby isn't helping. This is exactly what you need to talk to the mental health team about today. I think once you have some certainty in your mind about what is going to happen then you may feel better. Whether your DH 'does' blood etc is pretty irrelevant--unfortunately blood and gore is part and parcel of the joys of reproduction! But if it is any consolation then if my DH can cope anyone can.
BTW is 3/5 engaged more 'ready' than 4/5? Mine was 4/5 at last app.

melsy · 24/07/2006 09:34

awww booby , glad you and baby are ok.How you feeling with the woozys this morning. I keep coming over funny too. Will see if I can find your thread. Whens your appt today?

Keep feeling sick every time I eat.

Havnet a clue waht to do today, dd finished nursury last wk and was quite good to have a few hrs to myself(although last few weeks havent as had so many appts). Shes currently planted in front of cbeebs. Body and mind like sludge !

preparingfor2 · 24/07/2006 10:02

Hi Everyone! Sorry I haven't been on for a while, but I have a very good excuse...

Twins Matthew (3.07 kg) and Sarah (2.295 kg) were born on Friday 14th July (37+3 weeks) and they are little darlings!

I managed to avoid the CS and just had ventouse for both of them - basically pushed them both out within about 40 minutes once it got to that point (those in the theatre at the time were well impressed and were still talking about it days later ). They only let me out of hosp yesterday afternoon - what a mad place that was (but that's another story).

Had a few ups and downs with BF, but milk is in - just need to get the volume up now. Combination feeding is working pretty well with them so far.

Anyhow, I'm not sure when I'll be able to catch up on all your news, but I hope all is well with you all. Congratulations Mojomummy - how's it all going for you on "the other side"?

I've probably left out stuff you want to know (prompts welcome...), but I'd best get off here and cook some toast while I have time to eat it hot.

Best wishes,

Preparingfor2 (I guess I'd better change that sometime...)

melsy · 24/07/2006 10:08

((((((((((Awwww mazeltov , mazeltov pf2)))))))))).

Welcome Matthew &n Sarah. Youve done well to come online hun, hope you recover well.

trix1 · 24/07/2006 10:10

Congratulations Preparingfor2, welcome to your darling little babies.

dressedupnowheretogo · 24/07/2006 10:13

p4 2 well done glad your all ok

arabica 5/5 is fully engaged so yes your more engaged did you find recovery hard last time i dont drive im not the sort of person who gets twitchy if the house workisnt done so sitting on myback side for six weeks doesnt bother me but can you have baths i love my bath

melsy my thread was more about last night than naything just very strong bh at the end
stil feel woozy today i think it may be anxiety based now tho as i still feel dodgy now and had to go up for a llie down im never vertical these days my mum is coming round today so hopefully i wont spend to much time worrying chris is coming with me so i wont be on my own

pucca · 24/07/2006 11:24

Just wanted to add my on my C/S date and babies name.

Congrats on the births

Aussiemama · 24/07/2006 11:24

Hello all,
Know I'm not much of a contributor on here but just thought I'd let you know that my waters broke this morning (3 and a half weeks early but the hospital don't seem concerned so I'm not letting myself get too worried) so now I'm just sitting around waiting for labour to kick in. Will keep you posted....

pucca · 24/07/2006 11:26

Ooooh AM...How exciting, good luck for the labour xxxx

dressedupnowheretogo · 24/07/2006 11:27

ooooooooooooh aussie mama im so excited for you breathe deep

are you on your own?

muminaquandary · 24/07/2006 11:45

Congrats to everyone so far on their births (mojomummy & Preparing[ED]For2).

All the names given are really lovely - pucca our DS is also a George, it is a GREAT name (& not too common either so there aren't a 100 of them living nearby!!).

Aussiemama how exciting!! Don't do anything crazy like doing the housework / decorating!!

melsy · 24/07/2006 11:59

ooh woow aussiemum, was it a pop and a gush or just a small trickle ? May just be hind waters which surround babs head. Its a good sign though hey.

olivo · 24/07/2006 12:02

Hi everyone - has taken me ages to catch up on the last few days. sorry to those of you having pain and scares, hope everyone is ok today. must be so difficult for those of you with other little ones too, trying to reassure, especilaly when you're anxious yourself too.

CONGRATULATIONS P42!! hope all is well with you all.

good luck Aussie mama!

have had a crap few days myself - made it to the end of term but have been tired, irrational and uncomfortable none the less. apparently the baby is 3 or 4 /5 engaged ( i think that means quite!) and is quite big, like the rest of you, i just want it out now, but 4 1/2 weeks to go.

melsy · 24/07/2006 12:12

awww Olivo , glad its all over hey , you can rest in cool baths now !!

I havent been told about engaged level, so will ask tommorow at ante natal appt.

Poor dd is in a right hot state , found her under her bed with her soothy label.

Just waiting for my dad to pick us up and get to parents cool flat. Its so ridic in this house, I cant breathe.

freddysays · 24/07/2006 12:14

Well done girls two strong women and three goregeous babies!!! So happy they are well. Its gettting me all scared and excigted all at once.

Mine is due to be at least 9lb more like 10lb and the thought of that makes me want to sit crossed legged all day not squat like I should..oh well i am sure it will all stretch out and hopefully back again

Keep cool
