Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
dreamydowler · 21/07/2006 21:19

hi again all Im definitely up for an online drink tomorrow evening Ill bring the nibbles lol im sorry to hear some of you are having problems with your cars hope you get it sorted soon. Its nice to hear Im not the only one decorating at the moment we must be mad. I too have been having braxton hicks fairly regularly lately not swurprising I suppose as im getting more and more stressed over the decorating .

dreamydowler · 21/07/2006 21:29

luna the heat can make them more prone to sickness and diarhea things can curdle more in their stomache like milk just give plenty of water and keep him as cool as possible I hope he gets better soon poor thing .As for baby movements yes each time baby moves is counted as one kick so even four kicks in a row is counted as four movements Im sure if you had the time to lie and concentrate you would feel lots more than ten each day

dreamydowler · 21/07/2006 21:30

by the way lunar where is the sale at 5 in the morning????

melsy · 21/07/2006 21:41

Another mad chat fuelled lots of posts to catch up on. Im sooo soo tired I just cant seem to concentrate on reading, its taken me an hr to read up.

(((((BIG BIG MAZELTOVS MOJOMUMMY & WELCOME MOJOBABY ))))) Love the idea of having a quick quick labour.

Had a very amazing therapy session with a hypnobrithing women , who performed 15mins of EFT(emotional freedom tehcnique) based on my PTSD from dd's birth and within that time she got me from a distress level of 9-10 down to 3. She went over the breathing techniques for each stage of labour and then I watched 2 births (using hypnobirthing only)on dvd. I must say if she hadnt done the EFT theres NO WAY I would have been able to watch any births withought totally having meltdown, but I was really quite ok, so its effects have been quite deep. I have felt so positive and strong about hospital and labour and this really was amazing. She also gave me a funny badge to wear which said along the lines of "only nice birth stories please , the babys listening!!!"

The hypnobirthing belief is that we only feel pain during labour due to the fact that the western world has spent so mnay years telling us in the media we should. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Also that fear and anxiety makes our uterus etc work the wrong way as we introduce the wrong chemicals in. Also hmmmmmmmmmmmm , IM not sure we an completely get rid of all fears anxietys etc and how does our strenght hold up when were tired and weary???

So with all this skeptism, I started panicking again about it all and at my registrars appt started asking about epidural ????(I havent wanted one planned in this time, so was weird to suddenly start panicking about it being available) . My mum thinks its just due to being overtired. IM just worried IM making to big a leap to go from acute anxiety problems from PTSD , to thinking I can do this labour nearly naturally using breathing?????????????!!!!!!!!!

Havent slept for 2 days properly now , wake at 1:30 and have to shower as dripping . I then sit in frontn of fan soaking wet to cool down and dry. I then just get drippy all over again and toss and turn the rest of the night. I just cant bare this heat ANYMORE make it go, make it go. Last night I also got backache much lower than normal, today Ive felt very sick. Braxton hicks can come on for over and hr and come every 10mins. Things are seriously getting ready hey. Sounds like its commn as a few of you are experien cing this also????

sorry sorry warbling warbling , have all these thoughts.

dressedupnowheretogo · 21/07/2006 21:51

aaaah melsy babbes my friend gave birth using only hypno birthing and she said it was fabulous no pain at all and she scared her mum re how calm she was it was a quick labour only 5 hours

i'll be on to remind you re the virtual wine and chocs tomorrow morning

hope mojo is ok and everyone else is ok

my ankles have swollen to day and ive been sat down all day

dreamydowler · 21/07/2006 22:01

hi melsey im really pleased for you that your hypnobirthing session went so well. I hope you can manage to fit another session in before you give birth. Perhaps she or he has a cd or tape you could use when you are in labour. I totally believe that deep breathing and focusing on nicer things being able to meditate or go into your own little space helps I had pethidine with my first which made me sick and panicky and the gas and air makes me feel drunk which to me is silly trying to cope with pain whilst drunk leaves me feeling totally out of control. My other babies births all 4 of them I did naturally and they varied from 2 hours and very intense to an all nighter to a home birth with cord round babys neck to a hospital birth hooked up to antibiotics but because i was able to control my breathing and panicky thoughts it was a lot better. I know how hard it must be for you and you are doing so so well and you must at all times remain in control of your needs even if that means having an epidural. It is never as panicky second time round as you know what your pain threshold is and know at its absolute worst what to expect so you are not going into an unknown situation you coped last time and I have every faith in you that you will cope this time too your confidence has just taken a bit of a battering thats all.

dreamydowler · 21/07/2006 22:07

booby I have had elephant feet for days now not sure i can stand this heat for much longer nearly fainted whilst out shopping today ggoing to get piles if iI have to sit on my backside any longer we all seem to be getting braxton hicks too must be the heat supposed to be hotter tomorrow too. My eldest daughter phoned from thailand today she is sleeping out in jungle tonight she is braver than me hope she is ok

Mojomummy · 21/07/2006 22:09

Hi Ladies, baby mojo & I are doing well. She has slept most of the time, having a little squeak when she's hungry, feeding then sleeping again !! Amazing & hope she remains so relaxed.

Melsey, ref all the pain - I'm absolutely allergic to pain & amazed that I survived my labour. I did nct refresher classes which were very helpful. I hadn't appreciated how our bodies work to get the baby out. When I was having the (very intense) contractions I was trying to focus on the cervix opening & my pelvic muscles opening to release the baby & just went with it....being upright helped & the fact that it was quick, although I was knocking back the rescue remedy afterwards 'cos I was shakng so much.

Thinking of heading off to the Next sale myself tomorrow...although I think my milk is coming in as my boobs are getting hot & itchy...had my breast nurse pads cooling in the fridge...oh the things we go through !

dreamydowler · 21/07/2006 22:14

hi mojomummy Im so glad you and baby mojo are doing so well she sounds adorable and you sound so happy make sure you keep in touch as Im hoping to organise a postnatal meet up when we have all safely delivered. I know what you mean about the things we go through your body just isnt your own when you have kids but it is sooo worth it enjoy enjoy enjoy

lunavix · 21/07/2006 22:18

thanks everyone re ds, he's asleep now thankfully. Bless my little man

dreamy - next (the clothes shop) their summer sale is tomorrow at 5am at most stores.. insanity but I go every big one! (twice a year) to stock up on clothes for all of us.

YellowFeathers · 22/07/2006 07:41

Mojomummy. How lovely! Great to hear your all well. Must say though, if you go to the Next sale today your very brave! Take it easy.

Booby would love to join you but not sure as dd is coming home tonight after 2 nights at MIL's so it should be interesting!

Melsy, nice to hear about your session. If you don't mind me asking, how do you think you will feel after you have had the baby? Do you think the anxiety will lift?
I'm just sat here hoping and praying that I feel better when baby arrives.

Luna, Hope your ds is better. Poor little thing. This heat sucks. Good luck to you for the sale [mutters nutter under her breath] Great to hear about your birth plan too! Maybe I have found my calling in life. Writing birth plans
Wouldn't mind I have to do mine again!

Dreamy, I hope your dd is going to call you after her night in the jungle! She must be brave. I'd be scared of being eaten by a big spider or something, lol!

Weeell, up early again today. Dh started work at 7 so I got up with him. Ridiculous because come 10/11am I'll be totally shattered and I won't be able to sleep!
I think I had a bout of nesting last night which can I just say, for me is very very weird. I am the laziest person on this planet!
8:30 last night I suddenly decided to go outside and clean the windows???!!! So armed with my Windowlene and bleach I did the lot
I didn't really notice but the house is spotless too and all the washing is up to date so maybe I have been nesting and not realised?

I had a little thought too. I know when we have our babies we will have a post-natal thread but I thought maybe we could set up a feeding thread so that when we're up in the night we can come on and chat. Might make the nights not as lonely and tiring!

And another thing, out of interest would any of you miss a MW appt if you hadn't had one for 2 weeks? I can't attend mine on Wed and the snotty receptionist is saying that the other 3 days for clinic are fully booked!
I'll probably call the MW direct but I might not be able to go.

sarahlou1uk · 22/07/2006 10:29

Morning Yellow. If you call your mw direct, she might be able to squeeze you in before she starts clinic. My mw has one on a Weds afternoon and has squeezed me in before she starts a couple of times! By the way, my windows could do with cleaning if you want to do any more !

YellowFeathers · 22/07/2006 10:31

It was actually enjoyable

Am coming down to Soth Yorks on Wed next week. I can pop in if you want

PinkTulips · 22/07/2006 13:49

melsy, so glad to hear your feeling so positive. if it helps i'm the biggest wimp when it comes to pain... i cry if i stub my toe and whinge about every little ache and pain, but when it came to labour i found zoning out and finding my quiet place really did work. i found thinking of every contraction as one more positive step towards having my baby helped me cope and tbh, they weren't as bad as i'd imagined... and i had 18 hours of established labour with no pain relief to come to that conclusion. for the actual delivery make sure they give you the opportunity to find a position that works for you, i found when i kneeled against the head of the bed the pain of the contractions faded completely and all i felt was the 'urge' to push. and don't forget, hypnobirthing and relaxation techniques can be used alongside pain relief as well as instead of so don't feel pressured to do without unless your absolutely comfortable.

Feathers, dp went upstairs for a shower yeasterday and came down to find i'd washed the walls , the other day i jumped off the couch at 1am and started dusting and cleaning the kitchen cupboards as they were annoying me so much... but can i manage to hoover upstaris or tidy the hall? no! only the mad insane jobs seem to get done round here!

sarahlou1uk · 22/07/2006 18:02

Well, I am sat at my computer watching a very BIG thunderstorm over the back garden of my house! Had to close all the doors and windows because the rain was getting in and now it's too hot!!! Is anyone else getting this?

dreamydowler · 22/07/2006 18:45

hi everyone good to hear you are all well today. It started raining here a bit earlier too sarahlou and then stopped. Then the weirdest thing happened a swarm of flying ants in their thousands flew by so every window in the house had to be closed It was melting but dd was screaming at the thought of them getting in so had to suffer until they past. A feeding thread sounds great yf I really want to keep in touch with as many of you as possible. My eldest daughter phoned today she is having a ball she went on an elephant trek through the jungle today and when they had to cross the river the elephant decided to roll in the water so my daughter had to swim to the other side she is off to the south with beautiful beaches and island hopping next week she is soo lucky. Pink tulip I know exactly what you mean I made my dp pull the cooker out today so I could clean the sides of it I have also finally booked the two boys on their summer playschemes which start monday so thats them happy too dd wanted to make cakes today but didnt have the energy

dressedupnowheretogo · 22/07/2006 18:59

hi everyone!! Sarahlous, Sal and I are jealous you are having a storm!

So did I miss the virtual wine and cheese? was it 8am this morning or 8pm tonight? I Will check on here at 8 just in case!

There is so much on here to catch up on!

Yellow I wouldnt miss a MW appt not because it would WORRY me to but because I love having them!

luna I am glad your DS is better I can see how that would terrify you! Sal said you can get heat stroke etc. even when you are inside????

dreamy and Yellow I agree about the feeding thread! Dreamy the flying ants sounds bizarre!

Pink I am the exact same as you with cleaning odd things at odd times of day! I've given up doing houswork during the day now anyway, its too hot. after dinner i get a burst of energy and go!

YEllow I meant to say I dont think I have ever cleaned my windows but its really bugging me now that they need to be done.

mojomummy your DD sounds sooo lovely! I am so happy for you!!!

Sorry everyone else for missing you I am sure I am so sleepy I just cant get it all in my head!

2 things I meant to tell you - last night Sal and I were reading back a journal we've been keeping throughout the pregnancy and I found something that I thought would make you laugh.

I wrote in it at 6 weeks pregnancy in tears - I was at work and sneezed really hard and went to the bathroom crying sure I had 'shaken' the baby out!!!!!!!

Also, I think Alex has really badly bruised one of my ribs from kicking. It hurts like hell! He's got a lot of making up to do when he gets out I expect lots of homemade mothers day cards!

dressedupnowheretogo · 22/07/2006 19:15
