You do it SnowBoo - you deserve it!

Misty10 · 21/07/2006 12:07

Hi guys,

Saw the diabetic/obstetric team on Wednesday, had a growth scan and a CTG, date for induction set for next Thursday 27th, to admit me at 8pm and start the process at 10pm. Babes weight on growth scan was 8llb 12 oz, so likely babes will weigh approx 9,6 by next week ....
I am so very excited to meet babes, but also scared (natural for a first babes I guess).

I got some raspberry tea bags this morning which I managed to get off ebay, in fact drinking it now, I let it stew for 5 mins then added a little cornish honey ... not a bad little drink I dont think ... will try anything to help babes into this world naturally rather than all that prodding they are planning to do.

BIG CONGRATULATIONS to MOJOMUM !!

Cooled down a bit in Cornwall, but that is fine by me.

cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130008818703&ssPageName=MERC_VIC_RSCC_Pr12_PcY_BIN_Stores_IT

This is the site I got my tea bags off, I payed the £1.99 plus postage = £3.34 for 20 bags as I only have a week left.

When I looked at my health food shop for the tablets they were £7.50 for 60, and I think you take 4 a day. The tea bags recommend 3 bags a day, but I will eek them out to just 2 a day I think (being diabetic an all, dont want any major excitement).

Salamander · 21/07/2006 12:16

Good idea Misty with the honey in the tea!

PinkTulips · 21/07/2006 12:23

try squatting as well Snow, it's supposed to drop babies head down further and encourage your cervix to dilate.

having a seriously stressed day today. car started acting up on dp last night and packed it in this morning so we've been manic trying to organise garage to come get it (still under warrantly thank f*ck!), ringing cabs for him, ringing interview to explain why he's late (which i'm sure will help get him the job... not), had to get the buggy and car seats out of the car and up the stairs by myself in the boiling heat with dd under my other arm being extemely difficult, tow truck just came to take the damn thing so we're officially without car which should be great fun if i do go into labour!

anyway, sorry for rant.... just hate days like this!

Misty10 · 21/07/2006 12:23

And being preggers you cannot take hayfever remedies, and local honey is supposed to help ... so dual purpose ...

Sal - when are you due again ? I think we were supposed to be around the same date 9th werent we ?

Misty

YellowFeathers · 21/07/2006 12:26

OMG OMG OMG Our first baby!
How bloody fantastic!
A massive massive huge congratulations to you Mojomummy and a big welcome to your little baby girl
Any names yet?

Thats really made my day.

Eeny and Sal, Don't worry about the stress and baby thing. I challenge any pregnant woman to admit they haven't had more than one crying/stress session. I can't believe how anxious I have been feeling but I have no worries what so ever about it effecting baby.
As for the Raspberry Leaf Tea, I was always always told from 37 weeks as babies can survive if they are born from then on. However I bought the Heath and Heather Raspberry leaf tea from H&B and it says to take from 35 weeks on the box. I'll be 37 weeks on Sunday and I've been taking them for a week now although I've missed a few days and it says take up to 3 times. I normally hate fruit teas but I really like this. Put a bit of sugar in or honey and only fill 3/4 with hot water and rest with cold. Makes a really nice drink.

Booby, glad to hear your feeling a bit better. Just remember to go with whatever you feel is best for yourself

Dreamy, you seem so so calm and organised and you have so much going on!

Sarahlou, hope your still feeling a bit chirpier

BHM, lol at sweaty boobs Definatley not on your own there. I keep winding my dh up as he's been getting them too

SnowBoo, hope something starts for you now!

Ahh well, had our housewarming last night and it was fab! The people dh works with are so lovely. They didn't leave while midnight so needless to say I'm knackered today but the good thing is that dd is at MIL's till tomorrow afternoon so I have the day to myself

Just wanted to ask, maybe second timers may know, I've been getting loads and loads of BH's and they are quite intense now. I wondered if they are actually doing anything down below IYSWIM?
I thought I could ask my MW to examine me at my next appt. What do you think?

Oh and btw, I have a couple of great reflexology techniques that are meant to kickstart labour. I used them for dd and I gave birth the day after I started
Plan to do it as from Sunday!

Misty10 · 21/07/2006 12:28

My babes head has been 'down' for weeks now ... I think he is looking forward to meeting us all, but I did read about an exercise when you climb the stairs 2 at a time but sideways rather than forwards ...

Also I got myself an exercise ball from Argos for £3.99 ...

I also read (I do a lot of reading up !!) that you need to sit forward, so if you have a nice comfy sofa and find you are lying back it could make makes babes turn its belly to yours, and I think I am right in saying you need it to be babes back to belly ....

Misty

YellowFeathers · 21/07/2006 12:31

Thats very very true Misty about the sitting thing.

Sitting on the floor helps too. I did alot of that with dd. We have a side table which I normally have the laptop on and then I sit on the sofa but I've now started to sit at the dining table on the wooden chairs as my osture is alot better there.

Misty10 · 21/07/2006 12:33

Question on early babes and breastfeeding ...

Just wondering as my babes will be 2 weeks early will I be ready to breastfeed, I have not had any 'leaking' that some mums complain about ... will the milk kick in when babes arrive do you think ?

Any advice welcom.

Misty

YellowFeathers · 21/07/2006 12:38

Your milk will come when your baby does.
Tbh I've only been having very very small leaks in the night and once again only from one boob!

PinkTulips · 21/07/2006 12:41

your boobs will have colostrum in them for the first few days which is like liquid gold for babies, the more of this they drink the greater your supply will be when your milk comes in on the 2nd or 3rd day. just because your not leaking dosn't mean its not there so don't worry! anyway, anything from 37 weeks on is considered full term and sounds like your LO will be a healthy size anyway so definitely wouldn't panic in that respect

glad your housewarming went well Feathers, you must be shattered now though!

eenywifemum · 21/07/2006 12:57

Misty I was wondering that too as my breasts havent leaked at all. But my best friends didnt either and she said she started gushing as soon as her baby was born. And Sal is my DH (the only man on the August board!) so his baby is due when mine is - 1 Sept

Everyone at the NCT coffee morning I went to this morning said I look like I'm about to drop and I will never make it that long. Hope little Alex humours me and is a couple of weeks early!

Yellow I'm glad your housewarming went well and it sounds like you have a lot of nice people around you!

Pink I'm really sorry about your car. Car hassles are SUCH a nightmare. We hate our car - ooh no if she hears me say that she'll breakdown - we LOVE our car! But we want a new one.

PinkTulips · 21/07/2006 13:04

lol eeny, thats the way we felt about our old car, she was a hideous nightmare which is why we put ourselves horribly in debt to get this one

dreamydowler · 21/07/2006 13:06

Hi everyone Im so glad the weather has cooled a bit and everyone is ok. I went shopping this morning but almost fainted in a queue so gave up and went home I slept a bit better last night but seem to be getting up more times for a wee these days so wondering if baby has dropped. Still in the midst of painting kitchen but new cupboard now up and dp gone to get roller blind and lino so hopefuly will be finished by weekend so we can start on hall bathroom and toilet. I feel far from organised and calm and the kids break up from school today aaagghh. I normally do so much with them over the summer and havent even booked their holiday schemes yet anyway got loads to do this aftwernoon so will chat as and when I can today or probably when I get bored of cleaning lol take care all

YellowFeathers · 21/07/2006 13:56

Does anyone want to come over and help me finish off all this food.
Theres loads!

Pinky, I missed that about your car. What a PITA. Hope its not away too long.

Our blinking washing machine is being very tempramental atm so have got an engineer coming out this afternoon to have a look at it.
Dh has phyched himself up for spending yet more money to buy a new one!

eenywifemum · 21/07/2006 14:17

mm Yellow I will help you eat your food!! I am starving!

Dreamy you really are a trooper! You're so busy!! Dont beat yourself up over getting less done than usual!

Pink we have bad luck with cars. The last one was named Dexter (this one is Magdalana) Dexter used to try to KILL me. The passenger side door would randomly fly open. And Magdalana doesnt like me much either - you know the little light that comes on when you open the car door? Well it doesnt come on when you open the passenger door.

I think all our cars just love Sal as he is the one driving and they want to drive a wedge between us.

I spent all morning cuddling my friends baby and I can smell that lovely baby smell on myself now, is making me go all gooey!!

Misty10 · 21/07/2006 14:18

I know what you mean feathers ...

My car went 6 weeks ago, luckily the loan on the other one was 'just' paid, so we resigned ourselves to getting another one ...

Now the gas hob has gone, and the water does not get hot for about 20 mins of running the dam dry !! so money needs paying out for both of those ....

Think I have got everything I need for babes, except a playpen ... been looking at the babydan ones but they are expensive ... need to keep babes safe and spaniel out of the way ... but still want spaniel to know and grow up with babes ... safely !

Misty

PinkTulips · 21/07/2006 14:46

lol eeny, we name ours too! our first car was a little grey '86 Toyota Starlet called Quincy that rattled and groaned but could still hit 100mph without a problem. we got it for 300 quid from a guy i worked with. we were driving him up and down the country with no tax, insurance or licences and never once got stopped loved him but dp left the lights on one night and the battery ran flat, we couldn't afford to get him fixed and he was towed as he was illegaly parked and we couldn't go get him back or we would have been in serious trouble!

our last car was Betsy and she was a B*#@H! got her when i was pregnant and she broke down 2 days later! this was a cycle that went on for a year and a half before we got completely pissed off and borrowed a ton of money to buy this car. all was fine for 3 months then last month the electric windows went... in the midddle of a heatwave! and now this, grrr

Dreamy, i'm so admiring of your nesting. i haven't even managed to hoover upstairs yet

Salamander · 21/07/2006 14:56

LOL at all this car business

they are horrible things aren't they???

YellowFeathers · 21/07/2006 14:57

I think the worst car we had was a Land Rover Freelander that we bought when we found out I was pregnant with dd.

We had for a grand total of 11 months before getting rid!

In the end it had a new engine, new sun roof, new locks, one new window, a new clutch, new exhaust and something else that I can't remember.
Thank god it was still under warranty. We saw the invoice for the engine and it made our eyes water. I think if we'd have had to pay for it we'd have still been in debt now!

We've now got a lovely Shaguar which is fab and hasn't let us down once [touches wooden table].

purpleturtle · 21/07/2006 16:51

Can't believe a baby is here already! Well done, Mojomummy.

MW dropped my homebirth pack in yesterday, and the pool should be free for me by next Friday latest. Was slightly worried last night that I might need to pack a bag after all as I contracted every 10 minutes for a couple of hours. Not painful, though, and I remember whole nights of this with ds a good 3 weeks before he appeared. And the raspberry leaf tea would just make it worse! (might do it anyway)

Baby's head is just about in the pelvis, but knowing me, it's just getting comfy for the next 5 weeks.

dressedupnowheretogo · 21/07/2006 18:32

hi ive been to work with my dh today as he was working in manchester and i fancied a change of scenery got up at 6 i forgot there are two of those in the day and we had a lovley drive all round th epeak district due to a massive diversion the job was in a lovely little town dead scenic then we came a different way back which was just as nice so im all chilled

my dh is screedign our hallway ready for the tiles tomorrow and he's gonna fit the carpet to the rest of the stairs so he'll be busy busy tomorrow

glad everyone is ok and that both sarah and eeny are feeling better

just wondering my dh is out tomorrow night so if any of you are on your tomorrow night wondered if you want to start a thread specifically tomorrow night and chat and sip virtual wine for the evening with me otherwise im gonna have to scare my self silly watching the exorcism of emily rose

if any one is interested i was thinking about half eight onwards

love ya all booby

ps work this morning with dried milk allover one arm and stomach and boob it was gross
this poor child will be drowned alive

lunavix · 21/07/2006 20:52

Might try and catch you on booby, however next sale is tomorrow at 5am and I need to get some cute baby bargains So may be asleep tomorrow night...

Ds just scared the ** out of me and dh, he started crying pointed to his nose and projectile vomited everywhere for ages... doctor on phone reckons its just heat exhaustion, or sun stroke, but he hasn't been in the sun today..

Midwife came round last night. She read my birth plan and loves it (cheers YF ) and said she thinks this baby will be around the same weight as ds (7lb 14) or maybe a tad smaller.

She's really worried about movement though, as I told her it does move less than 10 times a day (go whole days without feeling) so I'm meant to be counting too. Is say 4 kicks in a row four movements? Or should they be seperate?

MOJOMUMMY - CONGRATS!!!! SO exciting, well done xx

booby - hope your apt helps you.

PinkTulips · 21/07/2006 21:07

booby, i'm sure i'll be around and some virtual wine sounds real good are we allowed virtual chocolates too?

poor luna's ds, is he feeling any better now? it could still be heat exhaustion even if he's not been out in the sun, it's so hot everywhere at the minute and we forget how much more suceptible to it kids are. hope he's better tomorrow
