Arabica · 20/07/2006 17:31

Yes forgot to mention, my baby also moving around less but then it's always been a bit quiet in there! Plus occasional shooting pains in strange places and the world's most swollen feet and calves and knees and boobs!

Mojomummy · 20/07/2006 18:19

Hi Ladies, just to let you know BabyMojo (girl) was born yesterday at 10:46am

born the hottest day EVER (!) after a very swift 2.5 hr labour weighing 6lb 14 oz & 2 weeks + 1 early.

I have to say I was very brave & despite screaming for an epidural, by the time the anesthetist arrived it was too late, my waters broke & the head was there. I, amazingly, did all this standing up with very shakey legs !

We stayed in hospital overnight as I was really quite shell shocked by the speed & unexpectedness of it all.

Was crawling around on all fours, try to pack my hospital bag & managed to forget, nappies, maternity pads, knickers, sleepsuits !

dreamydowler · 20/07/2006 18:45

congratulations mojomummy to you and your family. Im glad you are ok in spite of the shock of the speedy delivery a good thing I suppose as it was so hot keep in touch and enjoy your precious baby girl

CONGRATULATIONS MOJOMUMMY!! and well done!!

eenywifemum · 20/07/2006 20:14

Wow it is so exciting we've had our first baby! Arabica you've been beaten!!!

I hope Alex is as early as Mojo's baby is! God that would be such a relief to me.

Hi Act! Nice to meet you in a cyberspace sort of way! How long as your DH lived here?

Dreamy - its nice to know someone as experienced in baby making as you is still worried! Makes me feel less silly!

Freddysays you must be so frustrated!! I hope your baby co-operates and stays head down!

Hi to everyone else & hope you are all well and keeping cool - I gave up earlier and layed in bed naked for 2 hours staring at the ceiling with 2 fans on full blast pointed right at me. Cooled me down marvellously but I'm hot again now.

dreamydowler · 20/07/2006 20:35

every baby born is different and as im considered an older mother with a large baby and group b strep you can never be too laid back I just hope we all have as good a birth experience in our varied ways as mojomummy did

sarahlou1uk · 20/07/2006 20:37

Congratulations Mojo!

sarahlou1uk · 20/07/2006 20:38

Congratulations Mojo!

dreamydowler · 20/07/2006 21:21

hi sarahlou hows your day been

sarahlou1uk · 20/07/2006 21:46

Hi dreamy. Day been up and down. Had to phone crematorium this morning to arrange collection of Buds's ashes which set me off crying. However, life has to go on so I then took ds down to local playcentre where we met some friends. Got lots of support off them but set me off crying again! Everyone keeps saying time is a great healer and it's only been a couple of days so I'm getting by. Ds still doesn't understand and keeps asking but I'm sure in time, it will sink in.

Anyway, thought we would be in for a cooler day today as we got rain last night. However, by lunchtime was hot again . Eeny - at you starkers on your bed! Wish I'd got the time but when you've more than one young one something else always needs seeing to that's more important! At least dh is on nights again tonight so I get the bed to myself again!

dressedupnowheretogo · 20/07/2006 21:54

wow weel done mojo and baby girl bless you all hope your both well

my visit to tj mw unit went well very reassuring nice got to see pool which is huge btw feeling better but 75% of me still feels i'l be better with a section dh is now starting to feel i'll be better going natural but im not sure how im gonna cope on the build up and i dont wanna feel like this for the nest 6 or so weeks so im not gonna think about it til monday when i'll see the mental health lot so ther eyou go

eeny bless you
sarahlou hope your feeling better
arabica thanks for the advice

and to the rest i hope your all well

sarahlou1uk · 20/07/2006 21:59

Booby - everyone is thinking of you. Don't let others push you into something you'll later regret. Giving birth either naturally or by cs is up to every mother to decide for herself. As long as you have got a healthy baby at the end, then it doesn't matter how he/she came out! Listen to your body and mind. Only you know for certain what would be best for you. Perhaps once you have your appointment you will be more focussed on what you actually want rather than what people are advising you to do. Remember to prepare some kind of notes to remind you what you want to get across to them. By doing this, it will show them that you have thought about your options and your reasons for requesting your means of delivery. Good luck love. If you need any support, let us know and we'll be here!

PinkTulips · 20/07/2006 22:46

good luck booby, hopefully the mental health team will be able to see where your coming from regarding the anxiety of not knowing and will help you get the birth you really want.

sarahlou, lucky you having the bed to yourself dp used to work nights when i was having dd and it was sooo lovely being able to prop myself up with tonnes of pillows and sprawl all over the whole bed.

dp has a job interview tomorrow actually so fingers crossed he'll get it and things will start to look up a bit....

katylou25 · 20/07/2006 22:59

Congratulations MOjo! How exciting our 1st august baby - just need mine to take a hint and come early too - I NEED it out! Not that I'm at all ready finally moved in to new house and had building work done - BUT still need to decorate 4 rooms, unpack 10 million boxes lurking in which somewhere are all ds's old babygros, bedding, moses basket etc etc which I need to find and wash!

Am really suffering in this heat it doesn't help having a v v active 18 month DS to run around after!

trix1 · 21/07/2006 07:43

Good morning - Congratulations Mojo, how wonderful the first baby has arrived safe and sound.

I woke up this morning with cramps in my stomach a bit like constipation pains that have been coming since. Its probably braxton hicks.

Im going to crack on today with some house work though - just in case.

hoppybird · 21/07/2006 09:02

Morning all!

Wow, the first baby's here! Congratulations on your little girl, Mojomummy! Short labour and home quickly - sounds perfect!

Saralou - hope you're coping.

Katylou - know what you mean about unpacking - we still haven't cleared our bedroom after redecorating, and that's where baby's supposed to go - absolutely no space yet. The loft awaits... I pity poor dh going up there in this weather!

Booby - so glad you're anxiety is improving, and it's good you have your appt at last with the mental health team.

My news - went for a scan on Wednesday - baby hasn't got the problems ds had (has a good amount of fluid, and there's no problem with cord and placenta). However, baby's abdominal circumference plotted under the 5th centile, so the growth curve (in only that area) isn't right - other measurements show baby is small, but otherwise in good proportion. Consultant has booked me in for another growth scan in 2 weeks - if no improvement, I have to have an early section within a couple of days of the scan, so I'll have a 3 week early baby with possibly some problems. Am hoping it's only a blip and the sonographer got it wrong, as baby insists on being in awkward positions for scans.

In the meantime, I have to count foetal movements, stopping when I get to 10 each day. Fortunately, baby is dancing around a lot, so I'm pretty confident all is fine in there. Is moving far more than ds did.

At least I'll now be motivated to get a hospital bag ready, just in case of another early arrival!

eenywifemum · 21/07/2006 10:08

morning all!

how is everyone? I hope well. I decided at last to go to the nct coffee morning, just to do something different with my day. But I'm not really looking forward to it, although it will be nice to see my friend who goes.

hoppybird - I hope everything goes well with your baby! I'm glad baby is moving a lot anyway that must be reassuring.

Pink - Crossing my fingers for you that your DP gets the job! Good luck!

Booby - so you are still leaning towards the section? I hope it goes well for you on Monday.

Sarahlou - I dont blame you for being set off easy and crying a lot. I know I would be the same way. I cry over dumb things let alone something as REAL as losing a beloved animal. Hope you've been sleeping alright and are feeling a little better.

St. Louis, my hometown in America has had REALLY awful storms. 500,000 people are without electricity and they are going through a heatwave too. I am talking to my best friend today, I know she is alright and has electricity but my other friend has gone sort of missing! Well she isnt emailing as usual etc. So I am a little worried. I really love storms though and I know this sounds mad but part of me wishes I had been there for it.

Well must dash - ta ta!

Salamander · 21/07/2006 10:46

I have been reminding Eeny, of course, that the reality of being in 103 degree St.Louis heat without electricity wouldn't be Party Time for her right now

Hope everyone is well.

Booby - go with your heart!!!
Hoppybird - thinking of you!

SnowBoo · 21/07/2006 10:56

Welcome BabyMojo! Congrats Mojo, sounds like a perfect labour to me! Just hope this little monkey hurries up and makes an appearance.

So i'm still going, getting the odd strong pain so i keep walking up and down the stairs. Sods law i will be late after all this!!!! Have had two cups of nasty Raspberry Leaf tea so far, am going to do some cleaning and if i have any energy i will attempt the garden. To make things worse was up all night with a very very poorly ds, high temp that just wouldn't come down despite Calpol and Nurofen.

Well hope all are well, ds is now insisting we look on Milkshake website!

Salamander · 21/07/2006 10:59

Hi SnowBoo

have you tried looking for the Raspberyy Leaf tablets? We've heard they are available at Holland & Barrets, and are FAR more palatable than the tea-muck

SnowBoo · 21/07/2006 11:03

Yeah but they were so expensive compared to the tea and the nearest H&B to me is a good 20mins in the car.

Have heard they are good thou so i might make dh go and fetch some!
