hello bellies!!!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
purpleturtle · 20/07/2006 13:29

eeny, I caught a headline somewhere not that long ago that said that a study had indicated that babies whose mothers had a stressful pregnancy actually handled stress well themselves as adults.

I can't remember where I heard it, but I don't think worrying about the impact your stress level may or may not be having is any good for you! Deal with what you have to deal with, and don't worry about what ifs etc. etc.

dressedupnowheretogo · 20/07/2006 13:31

hi arabica did you breast feed your son and was it a c section i cant rememeber and did you manage to do it for long sorry to be nosy

Salamander · 20/07/2006 13:31

Hear Hear Purple!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

eenywifemum · 20/07/2006 13:36

hi!!

well I rolled out of bed at 12:30! which is fine as I havent got anything better to do but I am supposed to get up early tomorrow so tomorrow morning may be a nightmare! That is if I go (to the nct coffee morning)

Arabica you made me laugh (as always) about your skills as a compulsive eater!

I'm actually alright about the whole stress thing now. Partly because of all your sanity inducing comments and partly because it isnt the middle of the night! You know how when you are alone and you cant sleep you dwell on things that are a bit silly to dwell on? In the morning (or afternoon) light they dont look so bad.

Booby - I'm glad you MW said that. I think the main thing is that you feel you are being given a choice and not forced into something.

Pink your DD sounds lovely. I want one!

Well Sal said it rained in the night (must have been after 4:30!) but it is still bloody hot today. I wish it would just rain all day! Sorry for those of you who hate the rain but for me it would feel refreshing and I am stuck inside the house anyway!

We got a pineapple for the first time this weekend and last night cut it up. I always had it in my head you needed an electric knife to cut them so only ever bought it in cans but a friend told me that was silly (she was right)
So if I eat one a day for the next several weeks will Alex come early?

eenywifemum · 20/07/2006 13:38

Yes purple I LOVE the sound of that report! That is perfect!

dreamydowler · 20/07/2006 13:39

sounds like you have alot to do arabica but at least the end is in site we still have a thousand and one things left to do too hopefuly should have kitchen finished by weekend though bathroom and toilet by next weekend. The two boys should be in new bedroom by the following weekend and the girls in their new bedroom by weekend after that just in time for my eldest daughters return from Thailand. That gives me the last 2 weeks to sort out babys room sounds ok in theory doesnt it but then we keep getting these really hot days when hardly anything gets done and Im very worried in case I go into labour early or have to be induced as baby is large as for packing hospital bag for me and baby Ive yet to buy the things I need for that still its keeping us busy thats for sure

dreamydowler · 20/07/2006 13:50

morning eeny glad you managed to catch up with your sleep did sal tell you I was up at the same time too and I too thought the rain might cool things down we could have chatted had we both known we were awake the pineapple sounds like a great idea although my heartburn would probably put a stop to that I feel like Sophie is trying desperately to kick her way out at the moment and she seems to enjoy playing headstands on my bladder

eenywifemum · 20/07/2006 14:00

Aw... Sophie!! I didnt know you had a name picked out for sure, Dreamy! I know I wish you were on line it would have been lovely to have someone to talk to!!

Ugh It is so hot - I almost have to get off the comp (shock horror!) as the fan doesnt quite stretch over here!

dreamydowler · 20/07/2006 14:08

hehehe I know what you mean although I feel like our ceiling fan is just circulating the hot air I keep coming over to comp cos its by the open window but have had to close blinds as I am having to sit in just bra and knickers

Salamander · 20/07/2006 14:11

Sophie!!!

Lovely

Right - add it to the list!!!

eenywifemum · 20/07/2006 14:31

I have closed the south facing blind - ANYTHING to take the temp down in here a little! God sorry I am such a broken record! Ask Sal, I now see everything in the light of the temperature. I'm obsessed. My Dad is like this, he is obsessed with temperature. Blame him!

Salamander · 20/07/2006 14:42

I blame yer dad!

eenywifemum · 20/07/2006 14:44

I know at the end of pregnancy babies move less. Alex is moving a little less the last few days although he still has an hour or so when he goes mental in the mornings. I hate it though as I worry so much about him. Are all of your babies moving less?

Do you think this heat can affect them? I know when you are pregnant you arent supposed to go in a sauna or get too hot... what about getting too hot just NOW because you cant cool down?

This must be my week to worry

freddysays · 20/07/2006 14:58

HI all, went for my consultant appt they were trying to talk me into my big breech baby being turned but I kept on declining. Booked the c-section for next wed all set in my head then the consultant asked to examine me just to show me how easy or not it might have been to turn, and gues what.....He was head down.she checked it with a scan so all the headf**k i have had over the last few days was academic.

Now i know though Booby how reluctant they are with regard to cs. I was under the impression that you had a choice and there was such a thing as an elective. THere isnt, they really discourage, but I really feel if you hang in there you wil get what you choose. I am crossing fingers for you you sound like you have craked them now....

Sarah lou just to let you know dont worry too much about your unstable baby. I am 38 weeks and my baby is larger than average, so stats wise he was very unlikely to turn but he has...he may ofcourse turn again which will be a pain but you know what, I think that nature knows what its doing most of the time. and sometime all this information scanning and statistics dont allow us to just let it be and lte it happen in its own good time....

So know i am back to playing the waiting game. Its not next wed as planned and I am poppin the raspberry leaf tabs again.

I have a dull ache at the bottom of my belly so who knows. Prob too much lunch though.

Having really rubbish sleep these days due to heat and pelvic pain...bring on the end is all i can say before i loose my marbles

Take care of you all x

dreamydowler · 20/07/2006 15:46

eeny Ive had 6 babies already and Ive been really worried about this heat too affecting baby but ive been told that our internal body temp is constant unless we have an infection as we as adults are able to control it by sweating and making sure we drink lots babies generally do move less towards the end as long as you have 10 movements at least a day there is no cause for concern but I know what you mean about being obsessed with temperature. Oh Freddy I dont know whether to be pleased or disappointed for you I bet youre well peed off with the stress of it all lots of squatting and raspberry tea pineapples currys long walks (yeah right) or swims in this heat and nipple tweaking hehehe should do the trick fingers crossed for you mine is supposed to be big too got scan in 2 weeks for them to decide what to do about induction

Salamander · 20/07/2006 15:48

LOL at the nipple-tweaking DreamyDowler

dreamydowler · 20/07/2006 15:56

suppose I best put some clothes on as older children due home from school in 5 oh well no peace for the wicked

2labs · 20/07/2006 16:11

Eeny, mine's moving much less too - saw midwife on Tues and she said expect 10 movements a day too, but that includes those that happen when you're asleep... so it's actually not very many. And even little movements count. Mine moved when she was examining me, but just barely, and she said 'well there's one!'. So I'm not worrying about it!

sarahlou1uk · 20/07/2006 16:11

Thanks freddy for the reassuring advice. My baby (Molly) is a lot smaller than her brother was which is why she keeps turning. I see the mw next Wednesday when I will be 37 weeks but I'm not panicing yet!

Well off to rscue my neighbours from chatty ds!

Will keep you updated, hope all are well!

Sorry its brief today....

dreamydowler · 20/07/2006 16:42

ooooh how exciting snowboo its a race to the finish line now hopefully the sweep will get things moving quite quickly keep us all informed and hope all goes well

Act · 20/07/2006 17:11

hello everyone
i've been trying to keep up with all the chat- i'm the quiet one in the corner not saying much!

have been avoiding computer in this heat tho! it's in the hottest room in the house...

well i'm now 38 weeks and since the baby's head engaged (about 2 wks ago)i have had wierd trapped nerve pains in my legs and have finally succumbed to the dreaded PILES...also have sausage feet since the heatwave started. been sleeping with a wet flannel on my feet!!

oh, by the way eeny & sal sorry i probably never said hello properly but have been reading your posts and thought i'd say dh and I are the opposite of you - I'm british and he's american (from Chicago). we're gettng a visitation from his Mom & stepdad on the 26th august. baby could be not much more that a week old if i go overdue!! bit nervous about that...

sorry so long, i'm in manchester by the way...

Arabica · 20/07/2006 17:30

Hi evewryone. I just did an Ocado (waitrose) shop and spent about £2 million on DH's John Lewis card. Oh well. They just had such nice stuff! We've not been to the supermarket for yonks due to ongoing building works/broken freezer, but new freezer in kitchen now getting nice and cool and ready to be stuffed with goodies.
Booby, I breastfed DS for 15 months. Had a lot of problems getting him in right position to start with. Big boobs plus C-section sometimes equals discomfort and difficulty--totally not your fault, so if mws give you attitude, ignore 'em! Have a breastfeeding counsellor's number handy or better still get her or an experienced bf friend with big jugs to come and visit and show you some holds. I found lying on my side the best way to do it.
