OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Arabica · 18/07/2006 12:32

Hi everyone. I am soooooo huge and hot, and can barely walk due to the swollen feet and ankles. Can't think straight either.

Shame about the breech baby, Freddysays. I think there have been threads on turning babies at this stage using acupuncture--might be worth doing a search? It's disappointing not to get the birth you had your heart set on. I think I would feel the same way if I was made to deliver naturally!

Booby, was sorry to hear that you didn't get the result you wanted from the hospital, I hope the midwife can put some pressure on.

And very sorry to hear about your dog, Sarahlou.

Arabica · 18/07/2006 12:33

Freddysays, we could end up having our babies same day as my section is 27/7--next Thursday, when I will be 39+1.

dressedupnowheretogo · 18/07/2006 12:39

yf ive started a thread calling all mw and wise women and have had some good advice so thanks for that

arabica my friend is having her c section the same day oh my god hope your ok

freddy says i hope your ok havent got any advice but good luck

PinkTulips · 18/07/2006 13:00

your probably right to o for the cs freddy as i remember when i was preg with dd 2 women in my ante-natal class were breech and the mw was telling them that even when a manual turn is successful the baby often turns back before they've left the building! alot of stress and danger for nothing.

arabica, your soooo close

purpleturtle · 18/07/2006 17:45

Have you all died of heat exhaustion?

This is a picture of me:

Just can't do anything.

Mojomummy · 18/07/2006 18:04

Hi fredysays, lady at my toddler group had her breech baby the other day. She was fine (not sure I'd go for it though)

Also, a mum at my antenatal just had accupuncture which turned the baby, without any probs.

Just a thought in case you wanted to consider alternatives.

dreamydowler · 18/07/2006 18:10

hi all the heat is really stating to wear me down now there is so much left to do and I have absolutely no energy to do any of it my feet and ankles are so swollen I need to just sit in a pool perhaps I might try it tomorrow at local pool how has every one elses day been?

PinkTulips · 18/07/2006 18:11

i love the beach

dd swam for the first time today

was soooo sore and hot before we went and now i'm all happy, so proud of her for swimming, she's always screamed when i tried to bring her in further than her waist before and i was starting to worry she'd never take to it but today she came all the way out with me and was lying on my tummy while i swam and letting me pull her by the arms.

and to top it all off i had a show when we got back so looks like i'm getting close to the end... yay.

dreamydowler · 18/07/2006 18:18

wow pink im so pleased you had a really good day today I hope you are able to have a good nights rest in case anything happens tonight or tomorrow well done to your little girl I think I might take mine swimming tomorrow keep us all informed about baby and good luck x

dressedupnowheretogo · 18/07/2006 19:00

hi have been wallowing in my pool today its heaven and so far no swelling at all

pink im so excited both about lo swimming and the show does that mean everything is imminent or have you still got a couple of weeks

purple sorry your so fed up i want to go swimming but know pool will be packed

PinkTulips · 18/07/2006 20:31

not getting too excited as i've seen posters on here who had weeks inbetween show and labour but it means things are starting to happen at least. very sore too... right, must not obsess! i'll drive myself mad at this rate.

how you feeling now booby? any good advice on your other thread?

pucca · 18/07/2006 22:10

Hi everyone

I give up trying to catch up on this thread lol, you lot talk too much

Well i know what day my boy is going to be born, got my C section date today which is 11th Aug! so i will be 38 + 5. Really weird to know what day he will be born, and feels like fate too as that is my nan's birthday

YellowFeathers · 19/07/2006 07:47

Oooh wow all these dates for births

The woman my dh works with is due on the 25th. She sounds really fed up bless her.

Booby, glad you got some good advice, I'll try and find it and have a read.

Freddy, Not sure if you want to try this but I have seen it being done on tv. Use a biggish bag of frozen peas on your bump. The baby will feel some of the cold and therefore turn to get out of the way of it. It apparently does work. Could be worth a shot . How big was your other baby?

Pinky of you having a show. I know it doesn't mean anything will happen straight away but its a bloody good sign
[mutters lucky cow under her breath]

Had a nice day yesterday. My mum came up to see me, haven't seen her since the day after we moved in as shes been away and then working so it was great to see her. We did spend the day in the house though because it was soooo hot!
Then in the afternoon, a lady who my dh works with had offered us a free TV of hers as she was moving home and downsizing.
Dh had mentioned before that she was well to do and had a big house (married an older guy who was very rich!)
Weeeell feck me! It was a 1930's 6 bed mansion!!!
I think it the most amazing house I've ever seen. Full of amazing art from all different periods, antiques galore, amazing chandeliers and decor not to mention the garden!!!
DD had a fab time she sat eating ice cream and jelly babies and then ran round the garden all afternoon
We ended up coming away with a free tv, video player, 2 new sun loungers, a gorgeous little upholstered stool for dd and lovely gold framed mirror!
Not a bad day

Tomorrow we're having a housewarming for the people dh works with. Just a little thank you to them for being so good and patient whislt we were going through the move. So the house is full of beer, wine and party food. Going to nip to the market later and get some fresh fruit and do some fruit kebabs. Don't think people want to be eating hot puddings in this heat!
Oh and the plus side is that dd is staying with MIL until Saturday so chill out time for me

Yet another essay!

olivo · 19/07/2006 08:34

Hi everyone - got a late morning to day so trying to catch up!

Booby - sorry to hear you're having hassles at the hospital.

Freddy - sorry about your disappointment too.

YF - loved the photos - your dd is very cute!

Off to the docs for a group b strep swab to be done today - I know there are a lot of ums and ahs about whether its effective or not with false negatives but its kind of one less anxiety for me to worry about, whichever way the result is. (does that sound weird?!?)
only 3 more days left at work. my dept gave me some next vouchers yesterday and someone else gave me some for jojomamanbebe so cant wait to do some shopping next week!

hope everyone is ok today - dreading the heat again, i was wiped out yesterday and so swollen by the end of the day (32 degrees in my classroom - not good )

have a good day x

olivo · 19/07/2006 08:35

oh forgot to say, quite of those of you who have dates. cant even think about the birth till i've left work!

YellowFeathers · 19/07/2006 08:42

God

hope its a bit cooler for you today Olivo.

Just so you know and everyone else actually, Comet or it could be Currys (of all places) were selling spray bottles, you know like your hairdresser would use but it had a fan attached to it so you get a mist of water and cool air.
Fab!
Only £4.99 too.

dreamydowler · 19/07/2006 09:04

morning everyone well it looks like another scorcher set for today hope everyone copes with the heat. Olivio hope your groupB strep test goes well I had a positive test when pregnant with my dd 3 years ago and as a result am to be treated with antibiotics in labour again this time. Yellow I hope you have a really good house warming party and enjoy your day. Pucca what exciting news on your c section date that really doesnt seem that far away countdown time now. Pink are you still with us any more goings on in the night hope you are ok especially in this heat Im very excited for you hope all goes well. Well Im still on my nesting stage got lots of cleaning left to do so will speak to you all later when Ive had enough of cleaning

trix1 · 19/07/2006 09:23

Good morning - I cant beleive how much there is too catch up on. Pink fabulous news about the show - I thought I had mine a 10 days ago but I dont think so now. Never mind, I dont feel like I am getting near the end at all, im now 36 weeks and my ds was born at 37 1/2 but I doubt that will happen this time, I have a feeling I could go over - oh no.

Its going to be so exciting when the first baby arrives and as there are so many of us there will probably be a few weeks where there is a baby born every day.

Its supposed to get a bit cooler as the weekend approaches - yippee

YellowFeathers · 19/07/2006 10:18

I have my fingers crossed for you Trix.

It said there would be rain tomorrow so my plan is to sit in it.
Well actually I have to endure a stupid training thing run by my dh and FIL about the Youth Justice Board, sexual discrimination, racial awareness, first aid blah blah.

Have told dh to leave me if I fall asleep

melsy · 19/07/2006 10:37

Morning all

Just having an argy with dd ,as she wont do wee and keeps wetting herself. I think she thinks she doesnt need to sit on loo anymore.

Anywayyyyyyyyy

Tulips and pink wow about shows , its made my stomach go thinking about it. I am sooo soo nervous Im feeling sick. Seems a shame to feel that way after doing so well at hospital last week.

I do however have my 1st hypnobirthing lesson today , so Im hoping it will help with panic fears etc.

Booby , I really feel for you , I so know how your feeling. My tummy is going over and over. When I was unhappy with the registrar , I told them on my next visit that I had to see my consultant and I did. Do you think youd be able to tell them you want to see another consultant?? I wonder if the cd Im getting today would help you ? I think Its a relaxing hypnobirthing pregnancy one Ill let you know .Id offer to burn a copy and send it to you , but my brains sooo defunct Id probably let you down. You can get them online , ill find the website.

melsy · 19/07/2006 10:38

DOH heat wave brain

I meant TRIX & PINK

melsy · 19/07/2006 10:42

These are the hypnobirthing cd's , Im not sure if they are the same as the one Im getting, but on the web sites forum they all rave about them. Hypnosis for pregancy , birth & recovery

lunavix · 19/07/2006 10:42

TOO BLOODY HOT!!!!!!!!

freddysays · 19/07/2006 10:43

Morning all. I am sufferring and its only 10.30 the radio wound me up with repeated tales of hotest day of year on record so after breakfst adn ds1 off to nursery I went back to bed, had a delerious sleep until now.

I have my consultant appt this afternoon, hope they dont keep me waiting too long its normally 1hr for anything, i will CRACK or CRY today I can feel it.

THanks for the bits of advice, to be honext I think he is too big to turn know and I dont have the energy to seek out acupuncturists and the like.

YF teh cold peas souns like the only option i could bear today. I am pretty syched for a cs now, but that may change when I hear all the gorey details today.

Arabica am I right did you say many moons ago that you were local to me, Kings College London?? If so that woudl be mad, we would behaving cs on same day in same place. Let me know if this si the case and we can seek each other out. Good luck with yours anyway.....

To all off you with pools or beaches nearby..ENJOY i am green with envy in my dinky stuffy flat. I have a lovely garden but I cant stand the heat today so hiding in front of the fans. Stil shoudl cool a litle tomorrow and i pray next week is cooler for the op as the hopsitals air con is useless....

KEEP COOL everyone and drink lots n lots of water. At least we are all in the same boat

YellowFeathers · 19/07/2006 10:47

Oooh, let us know how you get on Melsy.
We're having huge problems atm with dd wetting herself.
Its like banging your head against a brick wall at times.
