YellowFeathers · 19/07/2006 10:49

Not sure how long the peas will stay cool though!

I've resorted to eating ice cubes from a tray but you have to be quick cos they melt!

dreamydowler · 19/07/2006 11:14

ok so maybe cleaning cooker on the hottest day EVER was a mad idea I think the heat has sent me delerious. Its all approaching fast now with the possibility of 2 c sections next week how exciting

YellowFeathers · 19/07/2006 11:25

OMG!

Giddy giddy giddy

How exciting !!!!

PinkTulips · 19/07/2006 11:31

still here, in agony but not labour type agony, have extreme pain at one side of my bump since yest, tried to pick up dd and hit the floor in pain. was at hospital this morning and mentioned it to doctor and he said it's 'just' my stomach muscles tearing from the baby moving and straining to pick up dd. kinda knew that anyway but his novel use of the word 'just' intrigued me!

good luck with the swab olivo sure everything will be fine.

BabiesEverywhere · 19/07/2006 11:32

I am lucky that we bought a portable air conditioning unit last summer, when my hayfever was so bad that I was struggling to breath even using my blue inhaler.

It has been a god send this year being heavily pregnant, though so expensive to run though. My DH said I have used £20 of electricity in the last three days...opps.

dressedupnowheretogo · 19/07/2006 11:32

eenywifemum · 19/07/2006 12:56

hello everyone!!

God there is so much to catch up on!

Ok... here goes although like all of you I am too hot and tired to do anything very well.

Pink - ok I have never understood this - what exactly IS a show? Is it waters breaking? Because my MW was telling me last night that you HAVE to go into labour within 72 hours of waters breaking in case of infection, like, they will induce you. I am so confused. What IS a show? Congrats on your DD swimming!!! You sound so proud!

Olivo - good luck with your Group B test! Sal and I were thinking of doing it too, our MW was really unsupportive of it. I still cant make up my mind really, I suppose it isnt too late to do it if we want to. My best friend had it.

Pucca - congrats for having a date for your section!! That must feel so weird!! I'm

Yellow that is awesome about getting all those things from that lady!! Sounds like a very nice day indeed!!

Booby I am sorry about your dream. I have really bad dreams almost every night, its hard not to take them to heart.

sorry everyone else who I have missed. I am just too hot to sit here and read everything!! Want to go sit by the fan! Nothing much is going on with me, I am just trying to breath... I am so tired and hot!

YellowFeathers · 19/07/2006 13:35

Eeny, a show is like mucusy discharge and may have a bit of blood in it.
If I'm correct it shouldn't be bright red but if its brown its like old blood.

I didn't have one until the actual day with dd and even then it happened when I'd been to the loo so I wiped it away.

You'll know if you have one. Some women don't, so don't be too bothered if nothing happens. It could come when your waters break and thats if they do too

lunavix · 19/07/2006 13:38

eeny a show is the mucus plug coming away from your cervix (I believe that's the right words)

It's usually icky bloody and all gunky.

I don't think you're meant to have sex after it as of risk of infection like waters breaking... but I think that might be more the case just with waters breaking...

eenywifemum · 19/07/2006 13:39

thanks for explaining Yellow. And when your waters break... that is more like clearish liquid isnt it? I'm scared I wont know it when it happens... the show or waters breaking. I've heard some waters breaking is like a big gush and some is a tiny trickle and you just think you've lost a little bladder control.

lunavix · 19/07/2006 13:39

Mine happened after they did a sweep when I went into hospital with contractions - like YF says I just was on the toilet wiped and went ugggghhh!, however waters never broke (had to have them broken for me)

eenywifemum · 19/07/2006 13:40

crossed posts luna! thanks! ooh I just wish it was all happening now!

BigHotMama · 19/07/2006 14:01

Afternoon ladies, hope your all well - I think its about time one of us had our baby? Keep wondeirng who will be first? See if anyone can beat Arabica lol. (cant believe its next Thursday?)

Talking of dreams, I dreamt I gave birth last night to a little boy and it was not painful at all then I woke up and thought 'Bugger! too good to be true!'

Heat is such a killer isnt it? I have been swimming the last few days just to get away from it and luckily the pool was nice and cool, even did 40 lengths too, think baba liked it aswell as kept kicking loads.

I am constantly checking for a show, and know i'll get over-excited about it if it happens! Pink n Trix you never know things may be happening early for you both!

Is anybody getting any small sharp pains down below? I had a few last night and started wondering is it the start of things, but then it stopped and havent had any today, just feel like a big heffalump today and am living in a beach dress that needs a good washing but only thing I can wear at moment as keeps me cool.

Have been having sore nipples again over last few days too and am forever wiping a stream of sweat underneath my boobs (mmmm attractive!).

Yellow your little girl is so cute!

Glad some of you are getting your dates for C/S and know when D-Day is at least! The rest of us gotta waddle on waiting for something to happen, just hope I'm in a safe place when it does and not somewhere like Asda lol!

Just gonna go sit in sun and sweat like a mad'un then I'll be back to catch up - its bliss not working ya know!

sarahlou1uk · 19/07/2006 14:15

Afternoon everyone. Well I've just had a very relaxing morning having a mum to be nurturing pregnancy massage at our spa! It was heaven! The only thing I could complain about was that the changing rooms were like swimming bath ones - VERY HOT WITH NO AIR CONDITIONING!!!!!!! It was actually cooler outside than in! However, the treatment room was lovely and cool.

Still trying to get over the loss of my 'big lad.' Every day seems to get a little easier but then little things remind me. I've started to look back and laugh at some of the things he did. We have paid to have his body cremated and then we will scatter his ashes in the garden he loved. That will be hard but I will be able to say a proper goodbye .

Now 36 weeks and want this to end! However, baby is still lying in an 'unstable' position, ie., across my tummy NOT head down! I've given her a severe talking to as I see the mw again next Wednesday. If she's not head down then I have got to make an appointment to have her turned by the consultant and then a possible inducement date. I have decided I don't want an inducement - I'd rather have a cs so I will be stating that to the mw. I'm hoping that she will turn pretty soon as I've been bouncing on my birthing ball and tonight will be putting my bum in the air (if I can manage it!) Failing that, I'll try the frozen peas thing!

Sorry, just realised this has turned into an essay! I'd better shut up now and drink my water and put my feet up!!!

dressedupnowheretogo · 19/07/2006 14:17

lol at bhm sounds like your living up to your name

i know about under the boob thing suffer from that constantly but it is horrendous at the mo espically as my bras are sitting right on the top of my bump have to wear light coloured tops so you cant see sweaty patches

BigHotMama · 19/07/2006 14:26

Booby maybe I should change my name to BigHotSweatyMama? Cuz thats how am feeling right now! 5 minutes sitting outside and forced me back on here as am soggy in every place possible (sorry if tmi!)

SarahLou, good to hear you are remembering the good times with Bud and having his ashes scattered is a nice idea too. Hope your baba turns for you soon!

Am going out tonight with my sister and best mate for a lovely italian meal, cant wait! It feels like the last girly supper until I'm a mom as will be hiding over last few weeks, cant even bring myself to go to Asda as cant be arsed to get myself ready - too hot and too fat just dont work well!

olivo · 19/07/2006 14:32

hello again!
booby, hope you are ok.

eeny - the hospital said they wouldnt do strep b test, expense i guess, but being the anxious girl i am, my doctor said she would (we pay for doctors here but not hospital) - should get the result next week at my 36 wk check.

she also said not to start my raspberry leaf till 38 weeks.

only 2 days to go at work and if i make it (which I have doubted every day this week!!), i'm treating myself to a preg massage, as I'll have another 7 weeks salary to my name. has cooled down a little here but forecast is still showing hot for the next week or so. hope evryone is ok - all this news of shows etc is encouraging!

eenywifemum · 19/07/2006 15:28

BHM your dinner plans sound lovely! I am exactly the same as well, I can not move!! I am either on the sofa, comp. chair or bed. I have given up!! I'm not even getting properly dressed anymore.

Sarahlou - Been thinking about you. I think scatterring Bud's ashes is a good thing and I hope you can feel a sense of him being there with you, because I believe he is. Hope your baby turns around too!

Olivo - ooh I want a preg massage!

dreamydowler · 19/07/2006 15:38

hi again all Im having trouble with sweaty boobs too and cant find anything that fits that is cool enough sitting in a pair of shorts that are too tight so got them below my bump having trouble knowing what to cook for tea got some chicken in for tonight but feel so hot its getting increasingly harder to get off the sofa which is also making me sweat as its leather. The cleaning has ground to a halt as its too hot but really need to get organised. Hopefuly tomorrow wont be so hot and I will have other half at home to help with decorating. Cant believe we are only at the start of summer hols the thought of 6 weeks in this heat with 5 kids at home and heavily pregnant fills me with dread going to go and wallow in the bath until I shrivel up

eenywifemum · 19/07/2006 15:47

dreamy, I feel for you. I am sufferring and I dont have lots of children to look after!

Housework in the Eeny and Sal household has basically ground to a halt as well... I feel guilty because I am not working, and not cleaning either, but I just cant bring myself to do anything but the VERY bare minimum.

sarahlou1uk · 19/07/2006 20:37

Dreamy - I know what you mean about the leather sofa! I've ended up putting a bed sheet over it so that I don't have to get the shoe horn out to ease my large sweaty thighs from it!

Thanks everyone for your kind messages. Eeny - I hope he is still with us, watching over us.

Olivo - highly recommend a pregnancy massage. Had one today which lasted around 1 hr 30 mins. Lovely and relaxing. Included facial, hand and arm massage, scalp massage, back and leg massage, neck massage and foot massage. Didn't want it to end. Ah well, will have to save my pennies and go back after dd is born for a normal massage.

aprilgirl1 · 19/07/2006 20:55

hey so much to catch up on not being at work now i havent got as easy access to pc!! well as all you lot am struggling with the sun, still only tiny little bump, today went shopping and the woman said 'least it'll be cool when you have your baby'... when i said i had just over 3 weeks she couldnt belive it still in normal tops one size bigger for the size my knockers have gronw to!!
getting pushing down pains quite bad on saturday and panicked cos there was a family doo on and everyone was mortal drunk so ended up phoning the hosplital crying and telling them everyone was drunk ( how embarrased was i when my hormornes settled down) so dp have been banned from drinking now till the birth ( well friday is his b-day so might let him have a shandy ha ha )
craving ice pops ate a box of 20 today and gutted i have none left!!
though when i logged on there would have been at least one of us with baby!!

where do you get rasberry leaf from ?
aprilgirl xx

sarahlou1uk · 19/07/2006 21:01

Aprilgirl - you can get raspberry leaf in either tablets or teabags. I personally prefer the tea bags as it's quite nice with a bit of sugar in! I get mine from the health food shop or I believe Holland & Barratts stock it. I took it in my 1st pregnancy when I was a week over. Now I plan to take it from 37 weeks (providing baby has turned into correct position!!)

olivo · 19/07/2006 21:02

Sarahlou - that sounds fantastic! Only two more days at school to get through, then I can treat myself!!

have a question for you girls - if someone asks you if there is anything you would like for the nursery ( ie - they want to buy you something), what do you suggest? my aunty has asked - would it be rude to ask for a nice lamp or nigthlight type thing or should i suggest a few things of different prices? she is reasonably well off but I dont want to sound presumptuous (sp?) we now have mpost of the things we need. what would you do?

olivo · 19/07/2006 21:04

oops, crossed posts!
hi aprilgirl! i got my raspberry leaf tablets from the local healthfood shop, my gp told me not to take them till 38 weeks but advice seems to differ.
