Hi Everyone
I thought we should have a thread in here as so many of us have now graduated into the antenatal threads. I know that many good friendships have been made and it would be a shame to lose them because we are all due in different months.
So come on sign in!!

Nat,
You mentioned not liking midwife appointments the other day, either on this thread or the Nov thread. I seem to view them really differently, although maybe it's because this is my first baby. I look forward to each appointment, mainly because baby gets measured (I want to know if I'm bigger than I should be!)and I get to hear the heartbeat so can try guessing if its a boy or girl. But I also think that I wouldn't really know if something was wrong as I don't recognise what minor complaint could be a symptom of something bigger. So I like having my bp and wee checked! I'm strange! And I like asking about the other things that I've found strange so far, like my swollen fingers. I just like the attention and reassurance I suppose.

pussycatmomma · 14/08/2006 14:39

hiya wuzz, how are you?? is jenswish/mumswish still around? i know she used to be on alot of the chat threads with natjane. Is she prg yet? When is your due date? Do you know if you are having a girl or boy yet? i really remember when you got your bfp, it was manic!!

wuzzlefraggle · 14/08/2006 15:45

hi Pussycat! i emailed jen (jenswish/mumswish) not long ago and shes doing fine, has a new job which shes much happier in now, her and her dp have decided to knock ttc on the head untill her 3 month probationary period is over with her new job, then they'll start again . she doesnt get to post on mumswnet for the time being unfortunatly, but i make sure to emil her, and keep her up to date (so does nataliejane, whos on this thread too lol). as for me, im due on the 24th october (30 weeks tomorrow), we're having a little girl (going to name her Anna) and all seems as it should be. phew, that was a gob-full lol

wuzzlefraggle · 14/08/2006 15:47

oops, and nat, glad to hear that your decorating is going as it should be..im in the same boat lol.

HC - i know what u mean and i feel the same way as you do about the MW appointments...i look forward to them and like getting everything checked. like you said, its prob a first timer thing lol

HopingCat · 14/08/2006 16:12

Pussycat - I remember when we were all on the ttc thread together, and I definitely remember Wuzz getting her bfp. It really gave me hope, and everyone was so happy and encouraging on the thread. Thank you for creating it in the first place! Best wishes to you.

Wuzz and Nat - It's funny how all three of us are decorating. Is this just something that people do before they have a baby? I wonder if being pregnant spurs you on to want a nicely decorated house.

Is anyone else decorating?

NatalieJane · 14/08/2006 17:04

Hi PCM!! Good to hear from you I am ashamed to say I haven't emailed Jen for a while, have just been too busy, but Wuzz has kept me up to date with her goings on!

Wuzz's BFP was the first one I knew of the TTC thread, and the blow by blow account was so exciting, still makes me grin like a cheshire cat when I think of it!! LOL

HC, I was always excited about the midwife appointments with my first, I suppose a lot of why I'm not interested in them this time, is just because I am more aware of things this time round, I can reassure myself, and with DS on summer holidays, and decorating and getting everything ready for the baby the appointments have just faded into the back ground.

I think the decorating thing is part of the 'nesting' that a lot of pregnant people go through, we have the hall to finish, then the babies room will be next, then the kitchen, then the bathroom, that should take us up till November!! DS's room is next on the list but that will be after Christmas!

I have ordered a huge bag to use at the hospital, and have got a list of things to start collecting on my trips into town and everything, when I think how quickly the last 15 weeks have gone, it is quite scary to think that in another 15 weeks baby will be here!! So I am starting to get things organised now.

Sorry I have gone on again, I don't seem to be able to keep my posts short and sweet anymore! TC xxx

HopingCat · 14/08/2006 17:09

I've been thinking about hospital bag too and buying bits, but I didn't mention it to anyone because it is early to be thinking of these things and I didn't want everyone else on the thread to think of me as hyper-organised! It's just easier for me to get things now, partly because I work in town, partly because Boots Parenting club keep sending me vouchers to spend! I'm not very sure what to put in it, but I imagine the subject will come up on the due nov thread, maybe next month.

NatalieJane · 14/08/2006 17:19

LOL I love being ultra organised - it just doesn't happen very often!!! I will email you a copy of my list if you want? Obviously there will probably be things you would want to add or take away from it, but it is good to have a starting point, especially with your first.

laughalot · 14/08/2006 19:04

Hi everyone hope you are all well nat nice to catch up with your post hows george ? Yes we are decorating too the kitchen though not the nursery yet im waiting to see what im having at my scan thats if its legs are open , lauren mackenzie for a girl and ben thomas for a boy.

HopingCat · 15/08/2006 09:24

Wow laughalot, we still haven't decided names. We think we have a girls name but not a boy.

Nat - it would be good to see a list if you've got one. I've read what a couple of websites suggest, but it would be good to read one written by someone who's actually had a baby recently. My email is [email protected]

wuzzlefraggle · 15/08/2006 11:45

LOL wow, i have a famous bfp lol

HC and Nat, yeah i think that the decorating is to do with nesting too, although our house seriously did need to be decorated lol...im just worying now that we've left it all so last minute lol. ah well, im sure all will work out fine in the end

I hope that every1 is doing well and feeling ok. when are the next scans/midwife appointents due?

HopingCat · 15/08/2006 11:55

My next appointment is 29th Aug, with midwife. I also have to go to hospital to see the consultant. Apparently I am no longer considered a low risk pregnancy because I had 2 lots of bleeding at 9 and 13 weeks. I've been fine since though so it will probably be a very short appointment!

wuzzlefraggle · 15/08/2006 12:04

im sure that all will be fine HC. how are you? pregnancy treating you well?

HopingCat · 15/08/2006 12:11

Yes I'm ok generally. I have tired days but otherwise am managing fine. How are you?

NatalieJane · 15/08/2006 12:24

Hello

Lota, George is doing fine thanks!! Lovely names as well (especially Thomas - that is my 4 year olds name!!) When is your scan? Any feelings on what sex it is yet?

HC, after I have done this and made some lunch, I will type out the list I have and send it on, as I said you may want to add things to it (e.g. make up, I don't wear make up so obviously it isn't on my list!!!) but I would have liked somewhere to start from when I had DS!! Also, ask your maternity unit what they provide, some give nappies and towels, or you may want to use your own anyway, it is entirely up to you.

Wuzz, I haven't got a clue when my next appointment is, I have that diabetes test at the beginning of September, I think it is the 6th or something like that, but I will need to see someone else around about then because I am rhesus negative, hoping I will slip through the net till then really!!

I have got some serious heartburn today, I thought I had worked out what triggered it - pringles(!!) but I haven't had any today, so it looks like I am back to tracking down the cause! I think a lot of it depends on where the baby is kicking, I find I get heartburn when the movements are in the top part of my bump, so maybe there isn't very much I can do to help it?!!

I have rambled again... sorry!! TC xxx

wuzzlefraggle · 15/08/2006 12:31

im not to bad thanks HC...ive found that i generally cant stay awake past 11 at night lol. achy some times too, but apart from that alls fine really

Nat - glad to see that your posting again and that the bug you had has gone now

laughalot - bet your looking forward to the scan now!

whats happened to every1 else from the thread?? hope that you are all ok xox

laughalot · 15/08/2006 19:14

Hi nat my scan is the 29th august I think its another boy, I love thomas but our surname is taylor so we thought ben taylor sounds better than thomas taylor but thomas will be his middle name, glad all is well with you and all I can say is I bet the heartburn is a nightmare why do loads of people get it in pregnancy ? Well im hoping babys legs arent crossed I couldnt bear the not knowing , take care catch up soon xx

wuzzlefraggle · 17/08/2006 22:19

hope that everyone is doing well. how is everyone and their pregnancies??

not much to report here...sick of waking up in the night for the loo and having trouble getting back off to sleep because of how uncomfortable it is (lol i sound like the grinch)

the babys room will be decorated and finished by sunday (woohoo!!) its me and dh's weekend goal to sort that out so that we have one less decorating preject to worry about before the baby gets here

HopingCat · 18/08/2006 10:39

Hi Wuzz.
I know what you mean. Waking up in the night isn't much fun, but I suppose we are just being prepared for the night feeds! My main problem is that when I've been to the loo my dh manages to steal all the covers while I'm away so we end up in a half asleep tug of war! I may be too hot in bed, but I need some covers to tuck under the bump.

I've read that you aren't supposed to sleep on your back due to a nerve that gets trapped so I'm trying to sleep on my side, but I keep rolling back. Soon I'll need so many pillows propping me up that DH will be on the floor!

wuzzlefraggle · 18/08/2006 11:59

Hi HC yeah i heard about the not sleeping on yourback thing so i make sure to sleep on my side too.

we had loads of thunder and lightening last night so unfortunatly i havnt slept very well at all..i seem to be sleeping a lot lighter than i used to pre pregnancy. the thunder and lightening was quite cool to watch tho so im going to stop griping lol.

shopping day for me today, so morrisons choclate isle better watch out lol

NatalieJane · 18/08/2006 15:48

Hiya

Mmmmm chocolate!!! [licks lips]

We are also starting the nursery this weekend - about bloody time, my dining room is overflowing! It has all of the hall furniture in it at the moment (plasterer is skimming one of the walls in the hall for us when he does the nursery so can't finish the hall decorating yet!) and not only the furniture for the nursery is in there, but we have clothes and blankets, baby gyms, bouncy chairs... well everything except a buggy in there for the baby!! I am really excited to get it all upstairs, not just so my dining room will be back to normal, but I just can't wait to see all of the little things like picture frames and teddies and trinket boxes etc. in their place!!

It is strange because in my first pregnancy, I spent the whole nine months thinking about the fact that I had a baby in me, and eveything was so geared up for the pregnancy, that we sort of (strangly) forgot that there would be a baby at the end of it all, and I promised myself I wouldn't do that this time, and that I would use the nine months to get my head around the fact that we are going to be a family of 4!! But, there is something that is stopping me again, I keep thinking once we have all of the things ready, then I will concentrate on the baby, but apart from the buggy we have everything, and I still can't think of the practicalities of having a baby in the house, so now I am pinning it all on having the room ready, surely once the room is done and everything is in it's place, and there is no more organising or running around to be done, I will start to realise what is going to hit us in November?!!!

...I think I am just doomed to being thrown in at the deep end again!!

Sorry, I've done it again!! I am going before I really let loose!!! LOL TC xxx

laughalot · 18/08/2006 17:26
