Hello!

So I'm actually due around 27th July but I went two weeks overdue with my first so I'm pretty sure this will be an August baby Smile

Is there anyone else who is newly pregnant and would like to join me?

Ruggle · 09/12/2013 17:02

P.S. As I have had 2 mcs, the RF said I should get referred to them for a scan at 6 weeks. Has anyone else done this? I know it doesn't always show a heartbeat that early, so I'm wondering if 8 weeks would be better, for peace off mind. To be honest, I'm not sure I even want a scan.

RoseHoney · 09/12/2013 17:09

ThankyouSmile
No Silly, this is my 3rd! I must be crazy haha.

PinaColadas · 09/12/2013 17:40

I think they can see a scan for sure at around 7 weeks Ruggle I've been obsessively watching and crying at ultrasound videos on YouTube hoping I get to see that soon.

My call into the ANC Self referral number worked, I'm booked in but as I suspected because it's been left so late by the slowness of my doc I'm not to expect a midwife appt until 10 weeks because they're so busy so who knows when my "12 week" scan will be. Meh.

HungryHorace · 09/12/2013 17:49

Hi Rose, welcome! I love how your sentence above makes it look like you're calling the poster daft :-)

Ruggle, I had the same relief on Saturday when I peed on another £3 or so (3 for price of 2 FRER!) and the test line was actually darker than the control.

My twin pack of digis from Amazon arrived today so I'm hoping to see at least 2-3 on it when I wee on it tomorrow.

Still no midwife / scan appt through the post. I'll chase on Weds if still nothing.

deuscat · 09/12/2013 18:03

Howly - sorry to hear you're suffering so much. Take care of yourself Thanks

RoseHoney welcome along Smile

When is everyone having their first midwife appointment? I'm hoping to get referred next week but I'll be 6 weeks by then. Will that be enough time?

Am I also the only one who has stopped testing by POAS? I did 3 in the first 3 days and then I ran out so now I'm just assuming its all going along well and taking it one day at a time. Easier said than done.

Eminybob · 09/12/2013 18:12

Exciting day I've been for my first midwife appointment this morning. Booking in appointment booked for 20th December.
I asked for an early scan due to my MMC earlier in the year but they said no Sad
Keeping positive though as I'm feeling very different this time round.

HungryHorace · 09/12/2013 18:15

Deus, I had to stop before AF was even due last time as I ran out!

This time I'm happily pissing on all the sticks I have. :-) And as I've never had more than a 1-2 on a digi I thought I'd buy more to at least see a 2-3 or 3+!

I think most booking in appts tend to be at 8-10 weeks, so you should be fine. :-)

miserywaterfall · 09/12/2013 18:15

I made an appointment at the doctor's on Wednesday so I guess things will get moving from there. By that time I think I'll be six weeks... but tbh, I'm not entirely sure I am working the dates out correctly :P I am such a noobie, have no idea what to expect since this is my first but luckily my best friend is now 21 weeks so I have been asking her all kinds of questions!

Howly, sounds like a dreadful day :( I've had the gagging feeling a fair bit, but haven't actually been sick... long may it continue :P

Hope everyone's had a nice day, or as nice as possible given these iffy symptoms! x

Ruggle · 09/12/2013 18:19

Deuscat

I'm just a bit obsessive about testing at the moment because I had 7 days of positives that started to fade last time and then a very early mc at 5 weeks, so this time I feel the need to constantly check that the lines are getting darker, which they are....thankfully!

talulahbelle · 09/12/2013 18:21

howly my sympathies. I'm supposed to be a teacher to, but my first two classes were basically given worksheets and left to get on with it. I am finding I have a window between 12:30 and 2 when I feel OKish, and the rest of the time the nausea is awful. Slightly better now I'm home and relaxing. I will definitely be off tomorrow if I don't feel better though - if this wasn't pregnancy I would be calling in sick feeling this bad.

Shakshuka · 09/12/2013 18:46

ruggle
Maybe wait until 7 weeks? Then you're more thank likely to hear the heartbeat which is a great sign. I know the Royal Free too well but not for maternity!

howly and taluah
that sounds horrendous. Hats off to all you teachers, I don't know how you do it at the best of times but if you're feeling nauseous and vomity, wow! I can barely cope with my own children then.

I have my first doc's appointment a week tomorrow. I think they'll scan then as well and I hope to get an idea of how far along I am. I suspect I'm about 5.5 weeks right now.

We went for coffee and cake at my ob-gyn cousin's house yesterday. Thankfully there was no discussion of anything pregnancy related (not mine at any rate). My Dad was there and I think cousin doesn't know that he knows. So all very good! I'll discuss with my dr next week how they split up delivery duties so that I can rest assured that my cousin won't be the one doing it!

I never did the poas thing with my other two pregnancies other than maybe twice or even three times. But I got a whole load of interent cheapies when we decided ttc, thinking it was going to take ages - and I can't resist the temptation for the reassurance factor! Although it's not helping becuase the line's just not getting any darker. I know things are moving OK hormone wise because I had two with the weeks counter and it all moved in the right direction so I've realised that the internet cheapies are simply not going to get any darker!

HungryHorace · 09/12/2013 19:34

Definitely hats off to the teachers. And if you're I'll take time off, regardless whether it's for pregnancy or an actual illness. MS can be utterly debilitating, so don't push yourselves too hard.

I think on IC tests the line appears faster when it can't darken more and eventually the hcg level gets too high and confuses the tests and they get lighter again. I'm not sure when there becomes no point in POAS again though.

Misery, what was the first day of your last period? It's very confusing that you're counted as being 2 weeks' pregnant before you're actually physically pregnant!

HungryHorace · 09/12/2013 19:35

Sodding auto correct: ill.

miserywaterfall · 09/12/2013 19:52

Last period date was 30th Oct! Yes! 2 weeks gone and didn't even know it, hehe! Very odd way to work it I think!

sillymeagain · 09/12/2013 20:07

Hungry. ..I think silly/daft may be quite right for me...this is no 4! Can't wait tho!!

Re poas....I've only done one test. Am thinking maybe now I should get another to be sure.

I am going to get a dr Appt next week when I will be 6 weeks. Asked today (when at the Dr with my son) if I could book with the midwife without making a dr appt, but they said no, I have to see the dr first. ..seems daft as I think all they did was refer me last time. No checks/tests or anything making seeing a dr worthwhile! Hey ho.

Howly · 09/12/2013 20:16

Thank you for the reassurance tallulah, I struggled through last week but today was horrendous! I feel guilty as I've been off already this term when I had an emergency laproscopy and my head of department is not the sympathetic kind, she struggles into work no matter how ill she is! I'm going to have tomorrow off to see the doctor but have a feeling he is going to say 'suck it up its just morning sickness, women have been doing it for centuries!' (A bit like my dads response!!)

Shakshuka · 09/12/2013 20:55

They don't extract teeth with no pain relief other than a bottle of rum because that's how they did it for centuries! I always find that argument very dodgy when applied to anything other than pregnancy :)

SliceOfLime · 09/12/2013 21:07

Oh no howly I hope you have a sympathetic doctor. Just seen you and holly over in the hyperemesis thread too Sad I was signed off for the whole of my last pregnancy as I just couldn't function due to feeling so sick, even though I was only actually sick once a day / every other day - it doesn't matter what causes it, if you feel that bad, you can't work!

Hi misery and rose ! (And anyone else new I missed)

QueenOfGeeks · 09/12/2013 21:11

Really can't imagine trying to teach a class with morning sickness I think all teachers are brilliant.

I have only poas once but I do keep looking at it, to check I didn't imagine it :-)
Glad to hear I am not the only one symptom watching, feeling a bit nauseous and lightheaded now so I feel a bit more like I'm actually pregnant.

I phoned the docs today to arrange my setup appt with the midwife, apparently they don't usually see you till 8-12 weeks unless there are risk factors. I don't know if the fact it was an FET and I have an underactive thyroid, and am 40 count.

Hopefully the midwife team will call back tomorrow.

ScienceGeekGirl · 09/12/2013 21:33

Can I say a very tentitively hello. I got my BFP yesterday after trying to conceived for nearly a year. I think I'm in shock and that my period will start any minute but I'm definitely late now and lines def there and digi even put it in words so should probably believe it.
Nhs website put my due date as 19th Aug. how crazy to think there is a poppyseed sized baby in my belly right now.
As you might be able to tell this is my first and feeling a little overwhelmed. Also I'm 29 (although don't feel very mature at the moment) just to complete my stats.
Did it take any of you guys a long time to fall pregnant? Just being nosy really. Would be interested

Anyway sure we'll (hopefully) get to know each other well in the next 9 months

miserywaterfall · 09/12/2013 21:47

Hey ScienceGeekGirl, welcome and congrats :)

I'm 27 and this is my first and I am very overwhelmed right now! Still sometimes can't believe it's all real. Never planned on having kids, this was an accident and I am amazed it happened after just one unprotected sexytime!

Mrspeacock81 · 09/12/2013 21:54

Hi geek girl. We were trying for a year too (after a mc last dec). Went to the docs today to get 'onto the system'. I was hoping to get midwife appt before Xmas but it's probably not reasonable.... I'll just have to wait on the appointment letters arriving :)

deuscat · 09/12/2013 22:30

Ruggle I'm sorry if I sounded insensitive about the multiple tests. Everyone has their own circumstances and I wish you a healthy pregnancy.

Welcome newbies!

Hope all the poorly ladies are resting and recovering. I've not had any sickness which I'm really grateful for after hearing the stories on here.

Science this is my first child as well and I'm 30 Smile

HungryHorace · 10/12/2013 02:44

Just got 2-3 on the digi, which I'm pleased with. :-)

I'll give it a week and do the final digi and hope it's 3+.

Twerking, no real symptoms here too particularly, but think I was like this last time too (I was on honeymoon at this point with my first so think I'd remember if I'd had many symptoms!). I'm getting a few stretching feelings but that's about it.

2beornot · 10/12/2013 07:09

Morning ladies.

I've stopped POAS too. I only did it twice it wasn't overly dark, but a lines a line! I figure either I'll start bleeding and that'll be a sign or I won't and it'll be like last time in which case my lines would still be getting darker and id be over-reassured. Or I can just try not to obsess and just hope and pray til 12 weeks. It's a shame coz i kinda want Christmas to be over coz then I'm closer to scan day.
