Hello!

So I'm actually due around 27th July but I went two weeks overdue with my first so I'm pretty sure this will be an August baby Smile

Is there anyone else who is newly pregnant and would like to join me?

Baggy your life sounds amazing! Grin Apart from the tiredness - I have that too! I'm currently curled up on the sofa while DH gives DD her dinner.

Hey rexie, I'll add you to the list in a moment Smile

Hi Rexie - welcome on board!

baggy I was in Ethiopia for a few months in 2000 . And then have visited Nairobi for work a few times and Tanzania (Dar and Bagamoyo).

There's a possibility of a promotion which would involve moving to Addis. I've applied but I think dh will be against. I'll see if I get to the shortlist stage and then we'll talk :) We're in NYC right now and life here is manic, I'd really love to be somewhere a bit more chilled like Addis and I think it'd be far easier if this pregnancy sticks and we're juggling our crazy lives here with a little baby.

We have friends at my dds' school who moved here from Nairobi (ex-pats, not Kenyan) in September - they miss it so much!

funkymonk · 03/12/2013 18:11

Sorry to not have caught up on todays news yet just posting regarding todays scan. There was a sac measuring 5+2. I should be 6+1 according to my positive ovulation test. I have to go back next wednesday for the scan that I originally had booked in for next week, to see if things have changed. I am so worried. I don't see how it can be so much earlier than I thought. Especially as I had a relatively earlypositive pregnancy test at 11dpo. So hoping everything is ok but am feeling that it can't be. Does anyone have any experience of early scans and accuracy of measurements etc?

PinaColadas · 03/12/2013 19:04

I'm not surprised baggy I'm shattered and I'm only carrying one little bean (I think!)
Feeling a bit better tonight, did another test and the test line came up before the control line! Immediately and was bold and bright. Can't believe I was stupid enough last time not to notice that the line didn't get darker, it was barely there when I tested at 8 weeks I should have realised.

PinaColadas · 03/12/2013 19:07

X posts there funky sorry. Try not to worry too much, this happened to my SIL thought she was 6+4 and she was told 5+3, everything is fine with her pg. Sometimes your egg just takes longer to implant. Fx for you, I'm sure it will be fine

TheBookofRuth · 03/12/2013 19:24

God I'm so shattered. Just bone tired. I have been since I woke up, despite getting what counts for me as plenty of sleep.

sillymeagain · 03/12/2013 19:31

Hello there
Please can you add me to the list. I got my bfp this morning for no 4 after some confusing pmt symptoms that went on a bit too long! Due 12 August I think, tho will be c-section so probably early August. My youngest is 5yrs so everything seems a bit new again.

mszeenwithabean · 03/12/2013 20:27

Hello,

2beornot · 03/12/2013 20:54

Hi ladies, hi newbies!! Nausea is starting to creep in, seems to be in the morning drive to work and early evening.

Just to add to the folic acid thing - yes you so need 5mg (rather than 400ug) if your BMI is over 30. I've been taking it (as I has some left over from last pg) and got prescription from the doctor for some more. Apparently I should be taking vitamin d as well - does anyone know how much?

DinkyMole · 03/12/2013 20:58

Funky I wouldn't worry too much. I'm sure on the July thread a few have had a similar thing. Think at this stage baby is less than 2cm so even one mm could make a big difference. Fx the next scan is clearer Smile

Ugh I've had an awful day. My autistic son got excluded from school. Terribly mismanaged situation led him to being absolutely terrified. I also had to write a 1000 word book review of a book I only managed to finish reading at 5pm! Mayhem! Thankfully all that stress meant I had no time to think about feeling sick and tired. That will probably kick in as I get up to go to work tomorrow!

My tummy feels reeeeally bloated and stretched tight and I'm only 5+4 Confused

HungryHorace · 03/12/2013 21:05

Hi to the newbies :-)

2be, it's 10mg (or whatever the unit of measurement is) of Vit D. I take 12.5 as that's the measurement of the tablet I have.

talulahbelle · 04/12/2013 06:52

I take pregnacare, I think that's got everything in.
Off work today, got a horrible cold, normally I would dose up and work through but paracetamol alone just doesn't work. I'm also dizzy, bloated, fatigued from getting up 3x a night to pee, and have horrible sore boobs. So a duvet day it is.
Still no nausea though except very occasional waves when I'm hungry/overfull, part glad I've avoided it, part worried it means my hormones aren't strong enough!
funky scans are hugely inaccurate at this stage, I'n got my fingers crossed everything measures correctly next time you go in.
DM I'm with you on the bloating - the only thing I can wear are leggins/joggers/one pair of work trousers that were always a bit too large. We are going to get bigger yet...
Welcome sillyme mszeen and all other newbies.

TwerkingNineToFive · 04/12/2013 09:42

How is everyone going to handle the keeping it secret but not drinking at Christmas? I'm thinking I might just tell everyone. Ill be 8 weeks when I visit my home town and if I don't drink it will be picked up in seconds.

Mrsantithetic · 04/12/2013 09:57

I'm taking pregnacare too. Already have pure fruit juice and dried apricots in the house as last time pregnacare made me so constipated it was awful.

I keep forgetting how many weeks I am and having to work it out.

28th October was first day of last period but I know I conceived on the 11th of November. Determined to get this across to the midwives as last time they said they had to go by lmp which put my dates out by a fortnight and I'm wondering if that had anything to do with why I had a failed induction, very unhappy baby and resulting emcs.

Still having mini panics about dd being 23 months when this baby is due and how I will possibly love both of then as much as I love dd.

Not to mention the house was going on the market after Christmas and we were meant to be moving in with pil for a year to save a deposit for a better house in a better area.

2beornot · 04/12/2013 11:13

Mrsantithetic - if your lmp was 28th October and you conceived on 11th Nov (which is exactly 2 weeks after) then your dates will be spot on. They always go 40wks from lmp but assume a perfect 28 day cycle.

Good tip about the fruit juice - I didn't use pregnacare last time but think I will this time.

Honkyponk · 04/12/2013 11:19

Hi ladies! Please can I join? Still cautious as very early days and had some confusing poas results. But now its a definite BFP and my LMP makes me exactly 5 weeks today with a due date of the 6th August. I've already got an August baby who's 15 months ( born on the 28th) and my bday is August the 30th. I'd just like to say it is the best month to be born in so we can all congratulate ourselves for being very clever!

PinaColadas · 04/12/2013 12:02

Hello honky Welcome!
Twerking I'm having to pretend i'm drinking at my work party, I've no choice, people WILL guess. I've roped in a close colleague I trust and we are going to be round buddies so she can help. I've already set the scene that i'll only be drinking vodka as i've decided wine (my usual tipple) gives me too bad hangovers. I hope I don't get outed, i'm so nervous!

Can we all just take a moment to talk nipples, does anyone else feel like they are going to fall off? I can't bare it owwwwwchBiscuitBiscuit

Hollyjokes · 04/12/2013 12:04

Morning ladies, hope everyone is well today. Welcome to the newbies Smile

I'm seriously pissed off. I'm still vomiting loads and nauseous constantly so I made an emergency appointment this morning with my GP to get some anti sickness meds. GP refused to prescribe me anything and is referring me to hospital so they can prescribe me the meds instead. Basically he just doesn't agree with medication during pregnancy and openly admitted that he would rather that the hospital took responsibility for prescribing me something that could be harmful to the baby. Charming. The fact that I sat through the appointment with my DD on my lap meant nothing, although she is perfect despite 7 plus months of anti sickness tablets during my pregnancy with her!

OMG Piña - yes nipples!! So so sore. And my boobs have ballooned too. My nipples have also gone very dark too - is that normal?!

Holly - is there another gp at your surgery who will give you the meds?

Hollyjokes · 04/12/2013 12:22

No sore nips for me pina, in fact my boobs/nipples haven't changed at all yet! Sickness, tiredness and bloating are my symptoms. Isn't it funny how different we all are? Smile

OP posts:
Hollyjokes · 04/12/2013 12:24

I'm not sure 2be, there's a locum doctor filling in for the other partner at the moment so I think that my GP would probably override him Confused

OP posts:
Mrsantithetic · 04/12/2013 12:27

Honky my dd was also a august 12 baby but was both 7th September.

I have sore nipples too but dd has been a boob monster lately so I had put it down to that.

PinaColadas · 04/12/2013 12:34

Mrs I couldn't imagine BF with nips like this, even walking hurts!
They haven't gone darker don't think but so sore today.

The bloating is strange isn't it, nothing there to even cause a baby yet I look about 6 months gone
