Hello!

So I'm actually due around 27th July but I went two weeks overdue with my first so I'm pretty sure this will be an August baby Smile

Is there anyone else who is newly pregnant and would like to join me?

Morning Ladies, Congrats newbies!

I'm starting to panic, first few days I was up in the night to wee and feeling sick, now not having any of that! My first PG when I had MMC I was up weeing through the night for the first 8 weeks! I'm so paranoid I just can't relax at all! I wish I knew my dates better. I'm pretty sure i'm 4+6 because LMP was 26th Oct and I think I ovulate day 18 of cycle. How am I ever going to chill the F out?

NameToBeDecided · 03/12/2013 13:50

Oh pina I'm with you, I had a mmc in july and an ectopic before that so I don't know how I'm going to get keep calm. I only need to feel a bit of trapped wind and I think it's the start of the end. Apparently symptoms can come and go in the early days so we must try not to panic.

Shakshuka · 03/12/2013 14:10

Someone stood up for me on the subway yesterday! I couldn't believe it. I'm not even 5 weeks!! Admittedly I had on my empire line dress which has always made me look a little pregnant (but I still like it). I think my stomach muscles just got a sniff of pregnancy hormones and have surrendered before the battle has even begun!

flymo79 · 03/12/2013 14:32

hello - can I join? got my bfp last week! think I'm due 5th August. Got so many bits crossed it's impossible to do anything!! I'm 34 and this is DC#1, have had cramps for a week and a half, but two strong bfps on ics.
Am confused about timings, i.e. how far along, my last period was 24 Oct, I ov on around cd21 / cd22 which was 14 Nov. I normally have quite long cycles and am about 9 days past when af was due.
Also quite want to have a scan before christmas but don't know if this is being overly cautious! not for any reason, just I can't bear for this to not be the real deal! Any pointers?

PinaColadas · 03/12/2013 14:44

Hi NameToBeDecided love the name by the way ha :) That's reassuring to know, and actually I went to boots at lunch to buy some pregnacare and felt awfully sick in there!! Every time I feel sick I give myself a little high 5, i'm pretty sure the first time i'm actually sick (hopefully) I will be smiling as I do, because I know it means my hormones are strong.

Shakshuka I understand what you mean, i'm already concious that I seem really round and bloated! I'm over weight to be fair but seem worse than usual!!

PinaColadas · 03/12/2013 14:58

and sorry, welcome flymo79 Congratulations

If I had the money I would definately be going for early scans. The only thing in the back of my mind is that a friend paid for one at 8 weeks then lost the baby at 9, I know that was probably just sooo unlucky but I couldn't bare the thought. I think I'm personally just going to ride it out until the new year.

I'm going to play it by ear though because i'm driving myself a bit mental worrying at the moment, had a blighted ovum before and just can't bare the thought that there is nothing in there again Sad

Ruggle · 03/12/2013 14:59

CD 27 post mc, so not even 4 weeks pregnant, and I was up all night peeing...pretty much every hour!

Just a few mins ago started getting sharp pains, and then period type pains (which I know are "normal"....but still sent me off in a panic to the nearest loo).....but also since yesterday I've been feeling strange low abdominal spasms, which are painful, but last for just a second, every ten seconds of so...mainly when I'm walking, but also when I rolled onto my front in bed. I didn't have this sort of pain with either of my mcs, but it's still quite scary. Anyone else experienced this who can tell me it's nothing to worry about?
The only pain I had leading up to the mcs was period-type cramping and contractions (with the mmc)....but this is very different type of pain.

Hollyjokes · 03/12/2013 14:59

Pina & Shak you're not alone! I'm so bloated, I definitely look pregnant already! (That, and the permanent queasy look on my face! Confused)

Hi flymo, congratulations! I think that you just count from your LMP at the moment (so you're 5+5 today Smile). Your date may change slightly at your 12wk scan due to you ovulating late in your cycle.

thanks holly!
ruggle, that sounds uncomfortable. FX for you, reassuring that it's different to the mc? I have only the af-type cramps, so no idea what's 'normal' I'm afraid!

funnyfish2 · 03/12/2013 15:40

hi everyone! i stumbled upon this thread, can i please join? my due date is 2 august and I am (eek!!) 39 yrs old. i had a MC in march so we are crossing fingers/holding thumbs that all will be well with this one. i have a 3 year old DD who is very eager to become a big sister! it's funny how much one forgets about pregnancy, and then how it all comes back-- the tiredness, the sore boobs, and that weird metallic taste in my mouth. fortunately, i didn't have any terrible morning sickness with my first and hoping that is the same with this one. nice to meet you all in this space.

baggyoldcow · 03/12/2013 16:25

Hi funnyfish - don't mock 39, it's perfectly respectable! Grin

Talulah - sooo relieved for you, congrats!

Am in Uganda for the week and have a poor net connection but am just checking in to say hi to all, welcome newbies etc.

I know I have two in here and all that, but I seem to have put on about a stone in fat around my middle. I feel revolting, really. Not exactly skinny anyway but, ugh. Just thought I'd share that with you all Smile

Shaks was it you who said you had to get a prescription for folic acid? Why is that? It's not harmful, is it? (sorry, a bit complicated to go back and check who said it)

baggyoldcow · 03/12/2013 16:31

Sorry, meant to ask funky - how did you get on. Fx, fx, fx...

PinaColadas · 03/12/2013 16:52

baggyoldcow Just thought I’d butt in in case Shaks doesn't see your message. I was the same with my last PG and expect will be the same this time, It's if your BMI is more than 30 (mine is 31 Blush then they recommend an extra 5mg of folic acid on top of your pregnacare. I think they also recommend it if you’re having a multiple pregnancy so it might be worth speaking to your doc?

Shakshuka · 03/12/2013 17:02

39 is lovely and I will be very sorry to be saying goodbye to it next month (I prefer to say year!).

Happy to swap with you funnyfish if you don't like it Grin

Not me with the prescription, baggy. It was 2beornot Although I'm surprised you need one. I'm not in the UK so not sure what the limits are there, but my over the counter prenatal vitamins have 8 mg in them.

What are you doing in Uganda? Very jealous! Are you in Kampala? I've worked in and visited East Africa but never Uganda. I'd love to go. I've worked with Ugandans and they've always been so friendly and funny.

Hollyjokes · 03/12/2013 17:20

Hi funny, welcome Smile I've been thinking the same thing - I was definitely looking at my last pregnancy through rose tinted specs, I'd forgotten just how awful it can be (and I feel really bad saying that because of course I'm grateful to be pregnant, so I hope I haven't offended anyone Hmm) I guess that me and pregnancy hormones just don't get along very well.

Baggy great to hear from you, glad you're doing well, even if you're feeling a bit rotten but the weight gain is to be expected, especially with twins! You'll be a blossoming twin mummy in no time! Smile

Ohhh is the extra folic acid thing standard now then? My bmi is about 32 so I'm guessing I should be taking extra. I never knew about this before reading about it on mn!

Hi Shaks, Holly, Pina - and sorry for confusing you Shaks and 2be...Interesting re the folic acid, I did ask doc and said the 600mcg in my antenatal multivit is fine...hmmm. Will look it up and self-prescribe, perhaps!

Shaks- I live in Kenya (working there) and am in Entebbe for some training. It's really warm here which makes a change from Nairobi which has been very wet and cold ( well, not UK cold, of course) the last few weeks. Used to live in Tanzania (Arusha) as well - where were you in EA?

Am going to bed now as am ridiculously tired. Never had ths in previous pregnancies. I should add that it is...8.38pm!!

0rexie0 · 03/12/2013 17:40

Hi there, you can just call me Rexie :)

My due date is 5th August. I'm 34 and this will be my second child. Very excited but also nervous as it is still early days...
