JK10 · 27/12/2013 23:14

Hi everyone, I've not posted for ages. Hope u have all had a fab Xmas x x

Rockchick1984 · 27/12/2013 23:20

Diz is one of them a page-a-day type thingy? One of my friends has kept a diary to her kids since she was pregnant with her first (5 years ago now) and she said its lovely looking back now, and she is going to give them to the kids when they are expecting their first babies. Some pages are incredibly dull, but a lot of it is funny things they have said, places they've visited etc. I'm debating doing one, but obviously DS won't have first 3 years Sad

I didn't have any bad prezzies this year - got an electric toothbrush which is fab, charm for my bracelet, a ton of different yankee candles, new specs, but most gifts were things I'd asked for or at least hinted about so the gift-giver was pretty sure I'd like them :)

What is everyone doing for new year? Think we are just staying in - not paying for a babysitter for DS when I can't drink and will probably be asleep before midnight anyway!

pramela · 27/12/2013 23:36

I got a sling to wear my baby until it's seven, a My Big Fat Gipsy Homebirth DVD, some home made mango chutney and a ticket to Gay Pride 2014.

Where have you newbies been for the last thirty weeks?

dizhin79 · 27/12/2013 23:46

no the diary is a week to view one, very pretty but not quite like that. OH and i were saying that though, maybe we should keep them from now on.

My mum does and has done since about 1980 i think!

Prammertime I can't wait to see you trialling the sling with your Norwegian Forest Cat

OwlinaTree · 28/12/2013 00:16

Hi all, happy Christmas!! We have had a lovely time, quiet but good. Have spent entire day today on sofa watching rubbish. Been great!

Abibub · 28/12/2013 00:18

Hey all, just popped in to say a quick hi before I waddle up to bed!!

Hope you're all enjoying Xmas and the festivities! Welcome newbies too! :D

Fasterkillpussycat · 28/12/2013 04:11

Hi to everyone and welcome to those new to the thread! Christmas was good - a manic Christmas Day at the in laws as my DH has a big family so loads of people and noise. Then Boxing Day at my folks where there are not many people so a bit more peaceful. Back to work today though, which was a bore.

Got given loads of great baby stuff today by a friend, so we now have a cot bed and a Moses basket and can try and get the nursery sorted. Just need to get a mattress for the cot. Then back to see more family tomorrow then I am not moving again until I need to go back to work next week.
Is it just me or does Christmas seem to be over even more quickly than usual? I am contemplating taking down the tree.

dizhin79 · 28/12/2013 07:31

me too faster I just want to clean properly now! hmm will try 2 keep it up til new years day at least!

lumpylumps · 28/12/2013 08:02

Morning all. I. Need. Sleep!!!! Had a lovely Christmas tho. Just wish my boys would sleep later than 6am.

Welcome yogi

I've kept a rough diary since I found out I was pregnant with Ds1. Not every day but important things or cute things. Ds1 loosing his 1st tooth yesterday will be one thing.

Pamela I love home made chutney!!

Yogibear72 · 28/12/2013 18:22

Thanks for all your welcomes!

It'll be a race to the finish for us 'Imeg'

Home safely here. It was a lovely Xmas but mentioned to OH that I won't be doing anymore long journies now. It's right uncomfortable being sat in the car for that long.

Great pressies were brightly coloured change bag and baby clothes including 3 knitted cardigans. Worst was a Nina perfume and body lotion set - I don't wear perfume!

liberuna · 28/12/2013 23:31

New years is going to ve a quiet one in with oh. Maybe even start painting nursery.

Best present - baby sling
Worst present - clock spanning 1 metre wide with little silvery tassels.

There's a thread on here about crap presents, the one that made me laugh is " DS2 who is two years old got a baby grow 6-12 months with a fag burn on it"

dizhin79 · 29/12/2013 09:13

lib that sounds amazing, wtf a clock that is 1metre wide??? With tales Omfg!

dizhin79 · 29/12/2013 09:13

tassles not tales Grin

Imeg · 29/12/2013 17:22

Husband has been away for christmas, and most of our presents are joint ones so I've been very good and haven't opened them yet, will wait until he's back.
Sister is going to make some curtains for the baby's room, so she got me the material for christmas which is very nice, fun but not too babyish so hopefully won't need replacing anytime soon as it gets older. Now we just have to organise a curtain pole.

liberuna · 29/12/2013 21:10

dizhin if you imagine a sun dial - this clock has a central piece with spikes emanating out. total diameter 1m. at the end of each spike on this monstrosity there are little silver balls, made from cloth, silver coloured and shiny. I supposed like Christmas baubles.

I honestly don't have the wall space for it but even if i did ....

liberuna · 29/12/2013 21:12

Imeg that sounds so sweet of her to make them

yogi can you exchange the perfume?

So newbies tell us what you've been up to and what brought you to this group / mumsnet?

dizhin79 · 29/12/2013 21:44

lib donation to a sensory hospital room perchance?

Mummyk1982 · 30/12/2013 18:37

Hello! I'm new, just joined mums net. Due March 19th - it's drawing so close!!! Only 5 1/2 weeks left at work!
Expecting a little princess- she's been dancing all day yesterday and a lot of today- love feeling her poke about :-)
Great to have somewhere with other people expecting the same time as me :-) xx

Imeg · 30/12/2013 18:48

Hi Mummyk :)

Mummyk1982 · 30/12/2013 18:56

Hi Imeg, how are you? Good Xmas? When are you due? :-)
(Wow, that sounds like an interrogation!!! Sorry!!)

liberuna · 30/12/2013 19:26

Welcome mummy the more the merrier :)

How come you joined us so late? Im due 9th its my first and she's practicing tai bo in there

Mummyk1982 · 30/12/2013 19:48

Hi liberuna,
Didn't even know a forum like this existed! Well- maybe if I'd thought about it I would have realised, but only just occurred to me!
I find little one has quieter spells and frantic spells! She was quiet week before last but figured she had changed position. Got more fidgety last week and over last few days has been wriggling and poking and kicking everywhere! I think we got a foot stuck under a rib the other day- ouch!!!! Did have a trip to the hospital a month ago as we'd gone 24 hrs with little movement but she was just having a restful day :-)

What's everyone's birth plans? I'm aiming for home waterbirth and have done hypnobirthing classes!! :-)

floatyflo · 30/12/2013 23:25

Helllloooo everybody! This thread really has gone so quiet. I havent been on in ages and thought it would have moved by two threads at least!

Hope everyone has had lovely Christmases.

Bumps getting big. Not long now!!
