Just eaten lunch and it has not touched the sides. Now I'm restless.

mrsksays · 14/11/2013 13:54

CookieMonster1971 This is true and when I'm calorie counting I go for the protein packed stuff to get more bang for my buck but right now i just want ALL THE FOOD!

CookieMonster1971 · 14/11/2013 14:33

I am simply not buying the bad stuff. If it's on your cupboards, you'll eat it.

Just got dropped off from Asda by the world's most ignorant taxi driver. Don't they unload their boots for female shoppers any more? I demanded he get out and help and then railroaded him for being a lazy, ignorant bastard. Then I reported him to his boss. Job done.

FoxMulder · 14/11/2013 14:54

Oh God, I am chronically bored. Is it the weekend yet?

April13 · 14/11/2013 15:03

hello ladies. Hope everyone is doing well!

Bored out my skull today, but am super busy at work so shouldn't be. Going to a real american baby shower today (as opposed to a fake one?!). Must refrain from any "stupid american" slurs Shock. Think it's going to be "birthday card pish" and sickly sweet, but there is food involved so I am in!!!

owl it's also 3 months today that I finish up a work. I work for a weird company whose holiday year is 31st May-1st June so I have a nearly full quota of AL to take too meaning it's only 2 months until I start 3 day weeks. CAN NOT WAIT. Preganancy is all about the AL and Maternity leave for me Wink

CookieMonster1971 · 14/11/2013 15:08

I can't believe you get paid to be chronically bored. I need to get me a job.

CookieMonster1971 · 14/11/2013 15:10

April, promise you won't return saying 'awesome!' or 'that sucks!' or any of the other infuriating Americanisms that arseholes adopt these days.

FoxMulder · 14/11/2013 15:16

Is it actually a baby shower for an American, or just that it's an American idea?

That works well with your AL! I'm more than a bit jealous. Trying to work out where all mine has gone...I took 2 days to go to Venice, one to watch Wimbledon, one when my friend visited, 5 days when I was off with morning sickness and 2 more coming up this Monday/Tuesday. So that's 11 of my 20 days, leaving me with 9 between now and ML. I'm going to need some for Christmas though. Assuming they let me have my full quota, as the holiday year doesn't end until the end of the tax year.

dizhin79 · 14/11/2013 15:17

Cookie your Taxi rant earns you gold star for making me chuckle today!! Well done u!

I have a member of that band stomp in my tum today, u know the ones that kick bins and stomp a lot!

Just bought 1st bit of nursery furniture a 1940s gents wardrobe soon to be painted up & prettified its really cute lots of drawers, shelves, hooks and hangy space! I know it's early still but I Can't resist a bargain!!

FoxMulder · 14/11/2013 15:18

I say 'awesome' all the time. Haha, suck it up cookie (that's right, I say 'suck it up' too).

CookieMonster1971 · 14/11/2013 15:23

...I suppose you leave the 'o' out of 'foetal' and 'oestrogen' too Hmm

FoxMulder · 14/11/2013 15:26

No, I can spell I just pick up expressions rather too easily Smile

CookieMonster1971 · 14/11/2013 15:27

I have made a decision: I am no longer going to listen to Attachment Parenting fans and only listen to those women who describe the ways in which their parenting style made their lives miserable. I will then do the opposite to them. I am reading far too many threads where shattered and disillusioned mums demand-fed and wore their babies around their necks and are now stuck with a six month-old baby who will not sleep through, will not sleep anywhere other than on the mother and is still co-sleeping while dad is in the spare room. Fuck that for a game of soldiers.

Rockchick1984 · 14/11/2013 16:04

That means you're going to ignore me then Cookie - although overall I'm just a fab of doing whatever works best at the time lazy parenting it just happens that what works best for us seems loosely based around AP Grin

BakingEating · 14/11/2013 16:05

I love americanisms, but then my dad has lives in the US since I was small. Yep, suck it up... And try not to mistype that as "sick it up"

More urgently than a baby manual, I need a pregnancy manual for office workers. One that will warn me in advance that presentations are harder to do because you need to breathe more, or that you can't be in a contentious meeting right before lunchtime (because snarling just isn't the done thing). Has anyone heard of this? Thanks in advance...

April13 · 14/11/2013 16:12

The baby shower is for an american being thrown by an american and the pregnant americans mum is visiting to attend. An all american event. Cookie I'd rather lie in my own pish than adopt American sayings, I worked for an American company for a while and the positivity drove me bonkers, I am much happier with the pessimistic Scottish views and ways Wink.

Fox been lucky with the AL. I only got married on April, so had to use my previous yars AL for that, and went on honeymoon so that was classed as the summer holiday :) Just a pain having to take it all before mat leave, they told me I wasn't allowed to carry it over and use it at the end of my maternity. I also believe they can't shorten your quota due to pregnancy, it falls under sexual discrimination....I have a fulls years quota to take by March Grin

cookie if I am honest, pepole keep talking about all of these fandangled things like attachment parenting, slings makes, hypno-shit etc and I generally have to google them. Don't have a scooby doo lol I thought the process was pregnant-birth-home-crib/moses basket-cot-no sleep ever again Wink

BakingEating · 14/11/2013 16:12

Cookie I'm going to get a parenting book from each extreme, and one in the middle, then work out what's insane and what's helpful. Basically, try to get the useful info out from in between all the ideology/ BS.

April13 · 14/11/2013 16:13

sorry about the spelling. its 4pm.....nearly home time

dizhin79 · 14/11/2013 16:22

BakingEating in all seriousness my work has one, it's produced by Tommy's I got sent 1 for me and 1 for my manager, it has a week by week don't be mean to her cos she may be experiencing xyz Grin

My manager, bloke in his 50s, immediately read it and apparently went home and hugged his wife saying 'i never realised' lololol!!!

FoxMulder · 14/11/2013 16:43

Ooh, just found out that you continue to accrue holiday time for the first 26 weeks of ML. So I should deffo get my full 20 days for this holiday/tax year, and a couple more while I'm away next holiday year. God knows how that would be worked out though.

JustCallMeBaldrick · 14/11/2013 16:48

14 already!
Lots of partying going on here - mainly in the early hours though. Not a good time, little girl!!
Food-wise, if it's not nailed down, it's gone. I missed lunch today though, due to going back to bed from 11-2.30, after a bloody awful night Sad

mrsksays · 14/11/2013 16:59

BakingEating I'm not buying any books - we'll just do what feels natural and right and if I have a problem or question I'll ask my Mum or someone else who's clearly done an ok job of parenting for advise.

BakingEating · 14/11/2013 17:13

Wow, thanks dizhin, I'll have a look for it and wave it at my HR department.

MrsK that sounds very reasonable. I should probably do the same, but I really like books!

MummyPig24 · 14/11/2013 17:36

Books are generally only aimed at one perspective, so you may end up paying out quite a bit to get all the opinions covered. The library may have some you can check out to read.

I'm feeling really stressy today.

CalltheMadwife · 14/11/2013 17:47

I went back to bed at 10am and woke up at 4pm, think I needed that!
