Add muslins to the essentials list.

IceNoSlice · 30/11/2013 08:25

Morning all. Thinking about going Christmas tree shopping today. I know it's early. But we are busy the next 2 weekends which would mean buying it on 22nd otherwise! Just wondering if all the needles will fall out before Christmas Sad. Advice, Martians?

liberuna · 30/11/2013 09:13

Hey fox can you not access via your phone?

Forgive having forgotten-but who was it that was going to buy a restaurant in Richmond? lyra ? How is this going?

Still haven't bought a thing yet. We've asked family to buy baby stuff for Christmas. We'll do a tally and buy whatever is left in new year. Thanks rock

No heartburn yet. But food seems to like making a reappearance as if there is no space to fit. Not fun.

liberuna · 30/11/2013 09:15

ice ooh fun Christmas. . Sorry no advice as I have a plastic tree. I refuse to be dragging a tree up and down stairs (live in flat) and clearing up needles all month.

Rockchick1984 · 30/11/2013 09:51

Ice it'll be fine as long as you put water in the stand and keep topping it up every few days. Oh, and try not to have it close to a radiator!!

Imeg · 30/11/2013 10:31

We haven't bought anything yet either, although we have been promised various things. Someone has given us some sort of bouncer contraption, think for an older baby, but it looks like it might need attaching to something, not sure what it's called so will have to do some googling to find something similar and try to work out what it's for! I just said yes on the basis that we can get rid of it if it's not useful...

IceNoSlice · 30/11/2013 12:57

Tree bought Grin

Imeg is it a door bouncer like this link

If so, yes it's for an older baby (needs to support own head, probably 4mo+) but DS loved his bouncer so keep it, I'd say!

mrsksays · 30/11/2013 16:45

Had a lovely lunch with 6 other pregnant friends today - one of them is a week away from her due date so we might have some baby cuddles by the time we next meet!

Imeg · 30/11/2013 16:51

Oooh, yes I think it might be. Thanks, that gives me a starting point to find out how to attach it!

Jealous of your tree but we are off to play carols with our band for switching on the local Christmas lights so a bit of festiveness there.

IceNoSlice · 30/11/2013 16:52

What do you play Imeg? I'm guessing cornet? How warm?

Imeg · 01/12/2013 13:53

I play the bassoon... It wasn't too bad because I was wearing about 20 layers: only my feet got cold! Unlike the year (possibly the year before last) when as we were driving there the car said it was -4... That really wasn't fun!

mrsksays · 01/12/2013 15:56

Have spent the entire day cleaning out multiple boxes and bags of 10 years of wasting my entire salary on clothes and makeup.

Wish I could go back and have a word with 23 year old me...

mrsksays · 01/12/2013 15:56

Might make £100 on eBay if I'm lucky...

Wuxiapian · 01/12/2013 17:35

I hear you, Mrs.

I've spent the last few days (finally) getting to grips with 2 wardrobes full of stuff that there's not a chance in hell of me fitting into again. Tut. I'll put any return coinage on getting the kids nursery in order.

Best start making the ruddy Xmas lists, I suppose...

LyraSilvertongue · 01/12/2013 18:45

Lib, yes that's me buying the restaurant. It's much like buying a house - lots of faff and legal stuff to do and lawyers work so slowly. We hope to be running it before Christmas but it's looking like it will be early January now.

Pantomime · 01/12/2013 19:08

I know this gets asked at least once a thread but may I please ask how we get on to the facebook page?

mrsksays · 01/12/2013 22:50

Feel so much happier that there is light at the endif the tunnel for actually being able to fit this baby into our flat when it arrives!

So far have cleared my dressing table into what will be a nappy changing area and a chest of drawers containing make up for baby clothes.

FoxMulder · 02/12/2013 10:26

Morning all. I've got the December blues good and proper. It took me over an hour to get out of bed this morning. I was well late.

Lyra I guess it must be a firewall thing with work & facebook. It's about the only site I've discovered so far though that I can't access. Lib My phone is not of the smart variety so can't get online with that.

Work on my bathroom started this weekend. It was a dusty, noisy & boring weekend. And now I have nowhere to shower. Just a bath. I don't do baths.

I'm wondering whether to go on my work's do this Saturday. It might be a bit depressing paying £10 (which includes an open bar which obviously I cannot partake in) to watch everyone else get pissed. And I don't have a dress. And no-one has asked if I'm going, so I can only assume they don't give a shit. But maybe it would be good to be sociable, especially as I am leaving in a couple months. Hmm.

liberuna · 02/12/2013 14:36

lyra keep us posted. Maybe London Martians can meet up there in the new year?

Sorry to hear fox i desperately want to start on baby's room but there is no time leading up to Xmas. And I've just handed in my mat leave form. Final day 21st February. Arrgh just under 12 weeks to go and I haven't bought a single thing.

I would only go if you want to socialize with people as you won't be there a night im assuming?. I get bored and annoyed with drunks

This weekend has been ruined by one of OH friends being an ungrateful jerk via text. and to top it off while OH was fuming and trying to figure out what to reply his ex rings. (I've no problem with this) He preceeds to vent with her as it's a mutual friend ( still no problem) she gives some sound advice and offers to talk to jerk to sort it out. (Conversation is going well)
She then proceeded to say "I love you" as they were saying goodbye.

WTF?

FoxMulder · 02/12/2013 15:25

Wow, WTF indeed lib! What did he say to that?!

I think I am gonna go to the works do...seize the day and all that. It is an evening thing, but I can leave when I'm over it. I don't get many opportunities to go out and there might be even fewer in the next year!

PainAuxRaisins · 02/12/2013 15:30

Fox I'm hearing you re the December blues. Lots of low energy amongst the Martians methinks (this is my 1st post in over a week - been so exhausted!). The thread has really slowed down so clearly we're not the only ones (although the FB group is much more active). Re. the Saturday night Christmas do; not sure I'd fancy being around a load of pissed up people - is there a meal or something beforehand or is it all about the open bar?? If there is food first I'd go along for that then make excuses to leave when everyone starts to get irritating.
Lib - I've been following your outrageous text thread on the FB page. I'm a bit Shock at the comment from the ex! Was she on speakerphone or summat? And what was the tone? There's a big difference between a casual "love you, bye" (I do this with a lot of family and old friends) and a breathy "I love you" a la Marilyn Monroe.

FoxMulder · 02/12/2013 15:38

Yeah, it's a meal in the pub with an open bar.

Just trying to decide on the menu - seems everything is off limits! Mackerel pate, pork & sage terrine, blue cheese sauce! Or is blue cheese sauce OK because it's cooked? Eating out is a minefield.

Blockette · 02/12/2013 16:45

I'm going to take a brake from this thread 'D'H knows my account name and has been reading my posts! (Forgot it was an open thread!)

Not that I think I said anything bad but still hate the idea of him checking up on what I'm saying. Apparently I tell you lot more then I do him - maybe because you lot can relate and give advice! How can he relate to my boobs hurting now they are bigger!?

  • yes if you reading this I AM still p-ed off with you!
mrsksays · 02/12/2013 16:56

Went to the hospital for a scan today and I'd got the bloody day wrong - DH not impressed. Back on Wednesday....

Finally decided on the pushchair - gone for Uppababy Cruz which I'm really happy about. And we saw a lovely rocking crib - so baby sleeping arrangements are back up in the air.

Anyone else feeling really "pregnant" now? Doing my shoes up, getting in and out of the car and generally just moving around is getting a lot more uncomfortable/cumbersome. And I've got 15 more weeks left!!

lumpylumps · 02/12/2013 18:37

Mrs yes!!! I was only saying to dh last night that I feel so uncomfortable! I definitely feel like there is a baby in there now stopping me bend etc. I caved and ordered a v pillow last night. I've never had one before but I'm hoping it'll help.

I saw the Dr today. He's signed me off for another 2 weeks and I just have to ring her want it extending so I'm classing myself as off now. 2 weeks will take me to almost 29 weeks and going by the fact I've never worked past 30 weeks I can't see me going back!

block I can't ever imagine dh being bothered enough to read my posts. He shows such little interest that it'd be far too much effort!!

lib Shock at the I love you!!!!!
