Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
BionicEar · 18/11/2013 21:44

I have a date for my cochlear implant (the outer bit) upgrade 5th Dec- yay! Managed to find train tickets on-line which weren't too ridiculously priced, and even got a 1st class ticket for the return journey as decided that I wasn't going to travel in rush hour stood all the way back whilst pregnant. Even DH agreed that was a good idea even though costed a few more pounds than cattle class! I think he's saying "yes" to anything tonight as been a bit grumpy with him! Grin

IceNoSlice · 18/11/2013 21:50

PainAux I have a nasty cough and cold but hopefully it's in it's way out after about 10 days. Not had the flu jab yet.

IceNoSlice · 18/11/2013 21:51

Bionic that's great! Fab news about the cock implant (hehe)!

HappyHoppy · 18/11/2013 21:54

I've not got the cold, but I do have (self-diagnosed) pregnancy rhinitis. I sneeze and feel snuffly several times a day, but it never develops into a cold. I had the flu jab at the beginning of October.

dizhin79 · 18/11/2013 22:02

Have had bad cold, then flu jab, then was fine, now sniffly nose most mornings clears up by the time i'm dressed

OwlinaTree · 18/11/2013 22:35

block hope your DH is feeling better.

mummy go to doctors if you are in pain.

BionicEar · 18/11/2013 22:35

Grin at Ice!

Ah the cock(lear) implant is well and truly rigged in my head. I didn't think it would take long to swap the old outer part for the new part, but apparently it will take about an hour and half. Hmmm guess there's a fair bit of programming going on then.

I sniggered at the dvd that I got sent, which showed a plastic bag that you could fit over the new outer bit so you could go swimming - it looks hideous and just appalling designed. I shall not be swimming with a plastic bag attached to my head and will them so if they try to offer me bags when I get this upgrade. See image below... thou on the site it doesn't show it attached to your head but on its own.

OwlinaTree · 18/11/2013 22:44

I've had a cold for weeks pain. I had the flu jab couple of weeks ago, they wouldn't give it me the first time I went because of the cold.

Good luck with the new ear bionic sounds exciting!

I've also got the midwife tomorrow, looking forward to hearing the heart beat again too.

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 18/11/2013 23:12

A question if I may...
The Mat B1 form, im meant to give it to my boss by 25 weeks with a letter stating when id like to go on mat leave? is that right? Do I get the form from my GP or midwife or is it sent to me automatically? I'm 23 weeks and haven't got it yet!

BionicEar · 18/11/2013 23:19

Cripes are we meant to give in by 25 weeks? Best get myself down to MW to get the form then. They told me at 16wks not to go again unto 28 weeks, so how was I meant to get the form then?!

apprenticemamma · 18/11/2013 23:30

fuuuuuuuck mat b form fuuuuck shit fuck!!!!Shock Shock Shock Seeing mw tomorrow, will fax over mat leave application and letter before officially turn 26 wks on friday. shit. hr do know via many emails. and payroll. Am I ok???!!! Someone?

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 18/11/2013 23:31

I may be wrong, but I started a thread asking this and only got a couple of answers. One mentioned handing it in more than 15 weeks before your EDD.

apprenticemamma · 18/11/2013 23:33
  • deep breaths +
apprenticemamma · 18/11/2013 23:36

Feeling sick! hr do know and only sent me paperwork after endless emails two weeks ago. And my mw is only seeing me this week for the first time since booking appt. So I'm not sure I could ve done it any sooner. ...

dizhin79 · 18/11/2013 23:43

apprentice u should be fine, I had to chase for mine too, but they posted it 1st class for me.

Try calling your gp tomo, hmm maybe u said u were seeing mw tomo?? Anyhoo, just ask to pick it up tomo either from gp, hospital or mlu perhaps? As long as u have it by thurs and can send it recorded delivery and fax a copy u should be ok.

Your work will need the original so u best check if u have an oh if their work needs a copy too.

hope that isn't too rambling xx

dizhin79 · 18/11/2013 23:46

And bionic as I understand it, the original form has to be in by the latest 15wks Edd

This may differ with different organisations and countries of course Smile

HappyHoppy · 19/11/2013 00:17

HMRC says:

SPM20510 - Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP) - Medical evidence: Time limits for producing evidence for pay and leave
The employee must produce medical evidence of the date the baby is due, this is the EWC.

Although a birth certificate is acceptable as proof that a baby has been born, the employer still needs evidence of the date the baby was due, this is usually form MATB1 (Maternity Certificate). This is required in order to check that the employee satisfies the continuous employment rule and to calculate the average weekly earnings.

Normally the evidence of the EWC is on the MATB1 but other medical evidence is acceptable providing it shows the date the baby is due. It cannot be issued before the start of the 20th week before the EWC and must be given to the employer within 21 days from the start of the SMP pay period. In exceptional circumstances this can be extended to 13 weeks, but no more. If there is good reason for the evidence being produced late it must be accepted by the employer provided the evidence is produced by what would be the end of the 13th week of the SMP pay period.

IceNoSlice · 19/11/2013 05:40

Good work HappyHoppy. I was going to say that we should all relax - stress not good in pregnancy! I don't think my GP/MWs give them out before 25 weeks anyway. My employer wants it but so long as I have informed them by 25 weeks by filling in our HR form, the mat B1 can come later.

And breathe!

liberuna · 19/11/2013 07:48

Thank you happy just a couple of things to add.

You won't be given a form until 20+ weeks and as long as you have put in writing that you're taking mat leave it covers your boss\work until you hand in official MatB1 form. (Its just for their tax purposes anyway)

Take A Photocopy OF Your Form before handing it over!

MummyPig24 · 19/11/2013 07:59

I've got a dr appt tomorrow morning. It's the same dr I saw about palpitations so I reckon she's going to think I'm a total drama queen.

OwlinaTree · 19/11/2013 08:02

Ahh a lovely lie in as not due at midwife till 920 so not worth going to work before hand!

BadlyWrittenPoem · 19/11/2013 09:32

Pain, I've had a mild cold recently and haven't had the flu jab.

Pantomime · 19/11/2013 10:00

Pain
I had to call my MW a few weeks ago because I was feaverish, had a temper and had thrown up a few times. Started as a sore throat turned in to something like flu. Weeks later I'm still sniffing and have a bit of a cough.

It was terribly unexciting as all I was advised to do was keep drinking water and to go see my GP if I couldn't keep it down.

Beccadugs · 19/11/2013 11:38

I've not had the flu jab, and am suffering with the mother of all sore throats. I am being a bridesmaid on Saturday, so am worrying it won't be gone, will have got worse by then.

mrsksays · 19/11/2013 13:20

DH took pity on me today and left me in bed for the day. The next door space at the office are having a partition wall out up with that fibre glass insulation stuff inside which I'm horribly allergic to so I get a duvet day to recover from my cold and I avoid the streaming eyes and coughing from that.

I only just woke up so I'm having a cuppa and might catch up on Made in Chelsea in bed - could get used to this!
