I saw a thread about induction in Pregnancy just the other day, noks - on the whole I got impression of it not being as bad as people were expecting. I'll see if I can find it...

evilgiraffe · 09/01/2014 14:21

It wasn't even in Pregnancy! Here it is. I'm sure everything will be fine, sun roof or no :) What time do you have to go in tomorrow?

Nokkie73 · 09/01/2014 14:24

Oh draf you are an angel. Thank you so much. I'll have a butchers at that when I get in. Got to call the hospital at 7.45am and they will let me know what time to go in. Xx

lovesLemonDrizzleCake · 09/01/2014 14:33

Massive good luck for tomorrow, noks! I am sure you and the nipper will be okay whichever way he decides to leave the building...

I am offended anyone would accuse me of using such a hunnish expression

MyNameIsWinkly · 09/01/2014 14:34

I have two friends that were induced recently, both of them had quick and uncomplicated vaginal deliveries after the induction. Very quick, in one case! Easy for me to say, but try not to fret. Nowt wrong with a sun roof delivery either, if necessary - my granny had all 4 of hers that way, back in the day! We're cheerleading for you no matter what.

FrankelInFoal · 09/01/2014 14:36

Glad to hear Nipper is fine Noks.

I think, as with so many things, people usually only feel inclined to tell the horror stories rather than the positive ones. My colleague's daughter was induced in the USA, she went in to hospital at 8am, was on the drip by 10am and her little boy was born without further assistance at 2.30pm.

Enjoy the Last Supper Wink and we'll all be sending you positive vibes tomorrow.

I was induced. I ended up having a normal delivery with no instruments and no tear. I got through without an epidural but I wouldn't do that again as I ended up off my face on pethidine. Went on for ages, c section loomed close but all good in the the end. I was only just 40 weeks. From what I understand, if you are properly overdue, it is more likely to work with the pessary and less likely to end up on the drip.
Unless this one comes before due date I will be induced again. It will be clearly written on my notes that if I have to be stuck on a bed on a drip all day, I want epidural asap. If you are not stuck in bed then try to keep mobile as much as you can. Pethidine is bloody good stuff if you like getting stoned.

Good luck! You will have your baybee very soon!

SinkyMalinks · 09/01/2014 14:43

Ooh Nokks, good luck for tomorrow. You'll be telling us what a breeze it is, right?

Just had anti-D. Bloody hell, that smarted a touch.

MyNameIsWinkly · 09/01/2014 14:49

I'm not very much looking forward to the Anti D. I was pleased they had the foresight to jab me when I was unconscious the last time.

evilgiraffe · 09/01/2014 14:57

Anti-D? What's anti-D?

I think you're right, Frank, no one ever shares the simple and easy stories. Like if you look at the Relationships board you'd never guess that anyone had a happy marriage.

FrankelInFoal · 09/01/2014 14:58

Am I being fick? Anti-D?

OP posts:
MyNameIsWinkly · 09/01/2014 15:05

If you have a Rhesus negative blood type, then you get a jab in the third trimester, cos if the baby has a Rhesus positive blood type and any antigens cross the placenta, the mother's body will attack and destroy any Rhesus positive babies. The jab neutralises the antigens so this doesn't happen. I think.

MyNameIsWinkly · 09/01/2014 15:09

And its a whacking great needle and it hurts, apparently. I needed one after my erpc but they kindly did it when I was knocked out.

evilgiraffe · 09/01/2014 15:21

Ah, okay. Hooray for both me and HOTB being Rh positive so should be fine in that regard :)

The zoladex implants I had for endo treatment before IVF hurt like fuck - a great thick needle and injected into the belly. Give me an arm injection any day.

FrankelInFoal · 09/01/2014 15:22

That explains why I've never heard of it! My whooping cough jab was very hurty and my arm ached for days after.

OP posts:
SinkyMalinks · 09/01/2014 16:55

Oh, don't say that Frank, I've got whooping cough vacc tomorrow!

Am measuring 35 weeks now, but midwives seem to have calmed down after the normal growth scan.

I've been booked into parentcraft classes by my midwife. Anyone done them? (NHS). I agreed but it now seems its not a single session but 3 Monday afternoons.. I'm thinking it'll cover nct style stuff and will cancel, but don't want to miss out on something useful!

ALittleFaith · 09/01/2014 18:52

sinks we did parentcraft with an NHS midwife. It was really helpful. Not airy fairy but very practical and relaxed because she came to us. In fact she popped by today to get the TENS machine we rented from her. She was marvelling at how big Faithlet is now :)

I'm A+ so no anti-D for me.

FrankelInFoal · 09/01/2014 19:22

Ah but I'm a wuss Sinks, I'm sure you'll be fine.

We're doing the Lazy Daisy parenting class. It's a 4 hour session on a Saturday morning.

How you feeling today Euro?

FrankelInFoal · 09/01/2014 19:26

MyNameIsWinkly · 09/01/2014 19:35

faify what sort of stuff did parentcraft cover?

JethroTull · 09/01/2014 20:43

Hurrah for Euro's good news!

Good luck tomorrow Noks. The Power of the ESH will be with you.

Winks I had the Anti D. Ouch!!

Nokkie73 · 09/01/2014 20:53

Thanks so much for all the support beeatches. draf reading that Fred made me feel so much better. A bazillion thankyous for sending me the link. Just been out for fish and chips AND a small glass of red. Back now. All I can say is that whatever the next few days brings, I will meet my baybee at the end of it. I never thought I would say that, so I'm sure I can deal with whatever is going to happen. X

Nokkie73 · 09/01/2014 20:55

kat excellent tip about the drip and an epidural. That seems to be the consensus so if it comes to that, I shall be taking the drugs !

eurochick · 09/01/2014 21:06

I see my good news has reached these shores. I shall take a deep breath and join you, and deprive the BESH of my menkulling...

Good luck tomorrow noks!

I'll catch up properly tomorrow - knackered now. It has been an exhausting day!

Nokkie73 · 09/01/2014 21:31

Cheers. euro. Shaft says hi. Grin. See the other Fred for details.
