Excellent name chat :) Draf, I am with you on it feeling premature, but my nephew, aged 2, had come up with a nice suggestion when my sister asked him what our baby was called...

Grin at Beowolf with his spear! It sounds painful!

Nokkie73 · 28/11/2013 18:47

The only one getting speared around here will be CASAF if he continues with this.

The nursery, furniture and all, will be completed on Monday. I will be so relieved to get it done. I had to have a bit of a teary tantrum yesterday to galvanise him into action he should have done it weeks ago Hurrah.

Nokkie73 · 28/11/2013 18:48

For diffment hormones. You can go a bit batshit crazy and say 'it's the 'ormones innit' and then eat a massive slice of cake.

evilgiraffe · 28/11/2013 19:12

Beowulf is an excellent name. If you have another you can call him Odin Grin

FrankelInFoal · 28/11/2013 19:37

I've just had cheese on toast with beans for my tea. Heaven Grin

OP posts:
Nokkie73 · 28/11/2013 19:43

Have you been talking to CASAF draf ? Grin

I have just had fish, a stack of veg and mash with butter AND olive oil. I just don't care you know oink

MyNameIsWinkly · 28/11/2013 19:47

Beowolf is a pretty cool name norks :)

I mainly had garlic for dinner. Chicken kiev & garlic bread. Some veg, but there was no garlic on those so don't count. I reek.

Nokkie73 · 28/11/2013 20:06

Are you going around Essex on a bike, with a string of onions around your neck and a beret on your bonce, twonks ?

evilgiraffe · 28/11/2013 20:07

That sounds yummy, winks. I love garlic. On our first night on honeymoon (Lake Garda, gorgeous) we ate in the hotel and I ordered "chilli and garlic spaghetti". The waiter was very doubtful, and checked about five times if I really wanted it, because it had a lot of garlic and everyone knows the English are useless with food "That's okay," I said. "I like garlic." When he brought it out of the kitchen we could smell it immediately even from across the room, and it was delicious. The waiter was very surprised and pleased that I ate it all! I now make chilli and garlic spaghetti at home too Grin

We've not had tea yet, HOTB is cooking chorizo risotto with roasted veg, yum. The poor love fell off his bike this morning so I've been sewing up holes in his cycling trousers. Lycra doesn't take too well to meeting tarmac at 20mph...

MyNameIsWinkly · 28/11/2013 20:18

Bit cold for being out on the bike norks, maybe at the weekend Grin

draf that sounds ah-may-zing! How do you make your chilli and garlic spaghetti?

Nokkie73 · 28/11/2013 20:19

Mmmmmmmmm chilli and garlic spaghetti sounds yummy. Sometimes, the simplest combinations make for the nicest spaghetti.

Poor HOTB. Is he ok draff ?

evilgiraffe · 28/11/2013 20:46

Yeah he's fine, a couple of grazes and a sore wrist but nothing too bad. Coming down on the road left his jersey covered in filth - it looks like he's been run over, with tyre tracks across the chest Shock

The spaghetti is dead easy - fry (lots of) garlic in (lots of) olive oil, chuck in a load of chilli (I use a couple of dried bird eye chillies and grind them with a pestle and mortar). Then add cooked spaghetti and give it a good stir - and then eat the lot Grin We generally have it with roasted peppers/shallots and fried halloumi (coated with flour and paprika). Delicious!

SinkyMalinks · 28/11/2013 22:41

Sounds lovely draf, but only in theory for me at the moment - still in heartburn hell. And no curries. Rubbish.

Has 25week midwife today. Was lovely. But I'm still measuring big (on a bloody tape measure - which I had to hold at my pubis symphysis because policy dictates the midwife can't.. Compared to dildocams and impending childbirth, I think they're being a little overly sensitive). So back in a week to be remeasured.

Maybe should lay off the cakes...

FaithTheVampireSlayer · 28/11/2013 23:26

Sinks at about 25 weeks I scoffed a particularly fatty lamb bhuna and got right sided abdo pain. Ended up with an overnight stay in hospital for monitoring! Scan showed nowt but I was wary of curry after that. I dunno about all this measuring. I was only 2cm small with my pint sized baby I ate lots of biscuits when diffed

Fwiw I luff the name Elijah. You need to tell someone your name choices in case there's something cringey you've missed (for example, I once knew of a Richard Head!) but pick very carefully and give several names. MSB wouldn't let me tell anyone Faithlet's potential name til she was born, not even the MW delivering her! Not til she'd popped out.

I decided I really liked the name Bellatrix. Think it goes great with our surname. He was not so keen....

FrankelInFoal · 29/11/2013 06:59

Sinks, how much bigger are you measuring? My midwife said they weren't bothered if you were 2-3cm over or under your expected size, but as I see it surely you are dependent on the position the baby is lying in.
That's why some people look like they have pointy bumps, because baby is lying funny!

Thankfully my heartburn has more or less gone, I only need to reach for the Gaviscon once or twice a week. Is anyone else having cravings/food aversions? I wouldn't call it a craving but I'm very partial to Dairylee sandwiches at the moment, as well as Wispa bars. I'm certainly not devouring them by the bucketload, or waking in the middle of the night craving them though!
Now that my tea aversion has passed I think I'm pretty much eating as I was before.

OP posts:
SinkyMalinks · 29/11/2013 07:08

I'm eating normally too Frank, although similarly to you, am partial to certain things atm (fresh orange juice mainly!)

I'm 3cm big. Meh. The student got me at 5 too big, but I think I had my hand marker too low. So another visit for another measurement.

Bump did give the Doppler a good boot though, which made me laugh - don't think he likes the intrusion!

FrankelInFoal · 29/11/2013 07:43

Grin Midwife woke Turnip up with her prodding too, she said she could see my bump moving as she wriggled in protest! I had a dental hygienist appointment on Wednesday and every time she used the high pressure water thingy (the one that makes a high pitched-whine) Turnip went nuts!

If anyone is interested in the GroBags we were talking about the other day Zulily have a 50% off sale on. The sale started today and ends on Monday night, but it's limited stock.

We have the Woodland Tales gro-bag. It's so sweet!

LazyMachine · 29/11/2013 09:41

I also love the name Elijah and I offer you...

Elias (love, love, love)

Both were short listed for NotSoLazyBoy PM me if you want to know our final choice!

FriendofDorothy · 29/11/2013 20:21

Elias is lovely too!

evilgiraffe · 29/11/2013 20:32

Lemons and lozenges are awesome - much improved today!

Is anyone else feeling guilty about how quiet the BESH thread is? :(

MyNameIsWinkly · 29/11/2013 20:52

Lazy Elias is nice too.

draf glad the lemons and lozenges are helping. Yes I hate seeing the BESH thread so empty (especially cos it's my fred). As euro said, there aren't that many non-grads all of a sudden, and I can see why so many don't post any more. Tis a shame though, the BESH have been around for eons, in internet terms, and also I've come to really care about them.

I'm shattered today. HWCA was annoying my by chewing his food too loudly Hmm

pinkr · 29/11/2013 20:55

Hi all! Been catching up...huzzah for all the scans and hooray for another girl!
I heard little pinks name somewhere when we were ttc and I thought 'oh that's pretty' and unusually I stored it on my phone. Well that was the 28th August and little pink arrived almost a year to the day [25th but close enough! ]
Mr df wasn't keen at first as he wanted grace but when he realised how popular grace was he won over and loves it now. Still I did consider...liberty, Ianthe and hebe so my hormones were going crazy. Incidentally if we had a boy the name was to be Fergus which I love...but I loved Isaac more and it was vetoed as being too biblical.

pinkr · 29/11/2013 21:01

Oh and just realised that the hair on my legs is the longest its been my entire adult life... The indignity continues! May explain why we're only averaging once a month at the min. must get myself in hand once more but when will I get the time! ?
