Vickyvix · 23/11/2013 23:12

I'm in the pregnacare gang too (the max one because I figured it must be the best) :)

Glad scan went well wife

hackneybird · 23/11/2013 23:16

I'm on vit d, folic acid and Floradix. The Floradix has helped actually, after I started taking it I have been merely feeling rough rather than utterly wretched.

WifeofGru · 24/11/2013 03:17

Yes I am tempted to start some gentle iron supplements but might as well wait for Hb result to come back.

MarlenaGru · 24/11/2013 07:58

I was taking pregnacare conception but when those ran out I got tesco own pregnancy multivitamins. I didn't get on with pregnacare last time as I am more struggling with lack of going at the moment!

Junebabyjoy · 24/11/2013 09:47

Woohoo Finally found the most recent bit if this thread! (Took me ages, I'm new) so interesting to read what other mums to be are going through at the same stage as me. 11+4 today and so excited about the prospect of not having to keep this exciting secret any more! Baby is due on June 4th, I'm feeling huge but not minding at all tbh. Can't wait for a proper bump! Just got to the end of my boots pregnancy support vitamins (sure they made me even sicker) any suggestions what to go for next?

MTMD · 24/11/2013 10:38

I'm taking Efalex mother & baby. I was looking for something containing folic acid, vit d and iodine, all of which have proven benefits. I didn't want anything multi so efalex suits me all it has all 3, plus omega 3. I also take higher doze folic acid due to DH medical history.

superlambanana · 24/11/2013 14:05

I'm just on folio acid as I can't stomach the big multivitamins at the moment.

Having major work issues. Now have to spend my afternoon doing a plan so that they can decide if I can work from home instead of doing my 1hr+ commute. I don't know what to have for dinner, let alone what I need to work on at work for the next three weeks Sad I know that when I explained it it sounded like I was making excuses as I'm crap on the phone sometimes. So fed up and DH is out until at least 10.30.

superlambanana · 24/11/2013 14:06

Folic not folio!

Liquidambar · 24/11/2013 14:24

I am taking Sonatgen's Mum to Be plus Omega 3. Research seems to indicate that fatty acids maybe be beneficial to prevent preterm labour, especially in cases like mine (with previous preterm baby).

Can't believe it's already Sunday afternoon. I always get Sunday blues... :(
The good thing is that Friday evening I'll go away with DH for a long "romantic" weekend, and my mother and granny are arriving on Thursday to look after DS.

wispaxmas · 24/11/2013 14:38

Welcome junebabyjoy!

Is there any point in pregnancy when you're allowed to take cold medicine? I'm currently bed ridden with my 3rd cold so far, and it has completely knocked me sideways. All this gross thick snot is making my asthma worse, as I'm usually one to pop a few pseudo ephedrine to dry up my sinuses when I get a cold, it never stays like this for long. This time, though.. Ugh. It's horrible. I'm being such a baby, but I'm so sick of being sick.

I think I'm going to go ask doctor google and see what it says. Barring any finite answer I'll call the GP to ask, but not sure what they can tell me over the phone, and being in France makes it a bit tricky to just drop in with questions.

sigh

Liquidambar · 24/11/2013 14:59

wispax I was googling "natural remedies for cold" and "how to bust your immune system during pregnancy" because I am finding hard to shift this cold! I will have the flue jab on Tuesday (if they think I am okay to have it) but that will not change this permanent cold.

wispaxmas · 24/11/2013 15:16

Natural remedies don't work past the short term, and I can't sleep with my head over a steaming bowl.. I'm on steroids daily so I have a lower immune response, which I'm assuming coupled with pregnancy means I will be catching absolutely everything that's thrown my way. Doctor google informs me that sudafed used to be considered safe until they found that there were chances of defects when used in first tri, and that it can be taken if your doctor recommends it based of cost/risk analysis.

If I continue to get colds every few weeks I may have to chat with the GP, because these colds are making my asthma worse, which means I will either have to increase my steroids or take something to lessen the cold symptoms. I'd rather not increase my steroid dose.

littlepickly · 24/11/2013 15:35

Hope you feel better soon wispa & liquid - I'm not sure if there is anything other than paracetamol which doesn't seem to help much for a cold and just snuggling up with hot honey and lemon drinks.

Does anyone have any advice about migraine with aura in pregnancy? I have experienced these in the past but hadn't had one for well over a year and have now had 2 in the last 2 weeks!! I don't get a headache just have to lie down for half an hour in dark whilst aura passes then feel wiped out after. Just a bit concerned about what it all means and Google is freaking me out!

MTMD · 24/11/2013 15:47

Little, migraines are common in 1st trimester, at least that's what my neurologist says.. But to be honest, I was better at the start and now, in the lead to 2nd trimester, they're getting worse...

littlepickly · 24/11/2013 15:52

Thanks MTMD - I remember having one with last pg but no more so really hoping same happens now!! Hope you're ok as know you were suffering the other day.

MyNameIsWinkly · 24/11/2013 16:00

little I had a migraine with aura this week, not having had one for years. There's a lot of hormonal changes going on, which aren't going to help things, plus the increased blood flow. Sympathies.

wispa mumsnet swears by putting Vicks vaporub on the soles of your feet and putting socks on, worth a try. A nasal spray might be better than a cold and flu tablet if you end up taking something, as less will end up in your blood stream (but do check with your doctor.) Also, apparently capsaicin, which is found in hot peppers, can thin mucus in your chest. Hope you kick this cold's arse.

superlambanana · 24/11/2013 16:05

I don't know what to do. Have emailed work and said in not up to doing plan. I can't stop crying, I've got so stressed about it, I've got no friends to call and my family all live miles away. Have asked DH to come home but he had t replied. Please help.

littlepickly · 24/11/2013 16:06

Thanks Winkly. Makes sense - was starting to worry about blood pressure but hopefully just hormones Confused

Mitchell2 · 24/11/2013 16:08

I super - what exactly do they want from you? Is it planning re what you have on for the next few weeks or how in theory you will be able to do it?

superlambanana · 24/11/2013 16:10

Both I think. DH is coming home but had to go again later. I think I'm having a panic attack again

Mitchell2 · 24/11/2013 16:13

Oops....

Or both? It sounds a bit overwhelming so just put it down and don't think about it at the moment. It's not unreasonable for them to ask but if it's stressing you out then just put to one side until you can either face it or maybe talk it through with work so it's a joint thing rather than you having to prove the concept to them.

Mitchell2 · 24/11/2013 16:15

Cake ... Don't stress ( easy for me to say!) work is not the center if the universe and you being in a good place is much much more important.

I'm sure when DH is home he will be able to help you, in the meantime, snuggle up on the couch have some tea and watch crap TV Smile

Liquidambar · 24/11/2013 16:56

Super I also get very stressed with work (says someone who already checked her emails twice on a sunday Biscuit) . But remember your little one at the moment is much more important. Try to relax (I know it is easy to say...). Perhaps take a bath, bubbles, a nice cup of tea and cake.

typhoonsmum · 24/11/2013 17:15

Hi. Just a query. Am now 11+1. Over the past few days I have been having sharp stabbing pains in the cervix area. I know you get aches and pains as womb grows and accomadates the weight of the baby but I am concerned as I had a loop excision of the cervix in June of this year and had a chunk cut away. It came back as CIN 1 but surely that has weakened my cervix xx

cheesysmile · 24/11/2013 18:15

I'm taking pregnacare.

Super I hope your DH is home now and ur feeling a bit better.

Typhoon im sorry im not going to be any help, but call the midwife tomorrow if you're worried, im sure they will be able to reassure you.

So I have my scan tomorrow afternoon! I'm feeling quite anxious actually. Oh I so want everything to be ok. Wish me luck!
