We're invited to an engagement party which starts at 3 (?!). I find the idea of EP very odd and don't really need to go but not fond of just marinating in our messy home all day... Having said that, I feel so tired.. Having to sit down while getting dressed.. Over an hour's journey too :/

Mitchell2 · 23/11/2013 13:01

mtmd'i hear you. Currently slothing in bed whilst DH is vacuuming - bless. I don't get EP's either but to be honest a party during the day has much more appeal at the moment than going out at night time!

wispaxmas · 23/11/2013 13:29

We had a get together in a pub for engagement 'drinks' instead of a party. It was nice... And a great excuse to see friends we otherwise don't get to see that often. I would agree that going out in the afternoon is far more likely for me than evening these days Wink

thegruf, when did you do the hpt? i know of people who have been dated nearly 2 weeks behind, but then suddenly a couple weeks later they're suddenly over a week further along than the early scan said.

superlambanana · 23/11/2013 14:20

Argh dilemma... Apparently DH's cousin has been sick all night but thinks it's food poisoning so might still be coming to PIL's for dinner with us if she feels better. I don't want to be near anybody with the remotest chance of being contagious!! What do I do?!

MyNameIsWinkly · 23/11/2013 14:25

I wouldn't go at the moment super.

GinandStripes · 23/11/2013 14:56

I managed to shower before 5pm AND I shaved things!

It's a miracle.

Mitchell2 · 23/11/2013 15:06

Hurrah gin

super I would give a miss as well.

thegruffalow · 23/11/2013 15:35

wispa -25th of October, clear blue digital said 2-3 weeks pregnant so i thought i was 4-5 weeks but if going with the size of the embryo i would've only be 3-4 weeks then. i have another dating scan on the 19th of December, so fingers crossed the edd is more accurate :]

x

MarlenaGru · 23/11/2013 15:51

I think, gruffalow that different people have different "default" levels of pregnancy hormone when not pregnant. That means that you could have only been 2 weeks but your body had as much hormone as a 4 week pregnant woman. I was a week behind where I thought when I had a scan at 6 weeks (I thought I was 7 weeks) but my daughter was 9 days late when born and my EDD was put back a few days at 12 weeks too. There was only one day she could have been conceived but I think maybe implantation can happen a bit later than you think...

Not sure if that made any sense, but did the sonographer say everything else seemed in proportion?

thegruffalow · 23/11/2013 16:18

hi marlenaGru thanks for clarifying. i was initially worried that something was wrong but after i stopped taking the pill my period hasn't been as regular so my lmp was around 40+ and i wasnt the usual 28 days person.

luckily a consultant did my ultrasound scan and he said everything was fine and in proportion but it was too small to date so im coming back to see if all is ok. the heartbeat was 175bpm x

GillyBillyWilly · 23/11/2013 16:31

Hi ladies I hope everyone is well Smile
I've been away with family for a few days so have my really been on here at all.

I'm so sorry to hear your sad news penguin. I hope you're ok Thanks

I'm on a coach back to London now and my husband is going to pick me up from Victoria station. I hate coaches but the train price at short notice was extortionate!!!!!!

Can't believe I will be in my 2nd trimester on Monday. Definitely won't miss the 1st trimester... Was too much sickness and anxiety for me!!!!
Hopefully the 2nd tri is better for me!

wispaxmas · 23/11/2013 16:49

thegruf, I had 2-3 weeks on a CBD on the 29th of September, so maybe their new EDD for you is actually correct, as I'm 12+3 today based on scan and ovulation dates...

gilly, I'm with you on saying goodbye to first tri. Bring on the 2nd!

Who are our upcoming scans?

superlambanana · 23/11/2013 16:51

It's okay, she's not coming. We are already here so it would have been awkward!

BEEwitched · 23/11/2013 17:51

Gruf, I had a positive opk on the 9th of September and a 1-2 week positive test on the 20th of Sept. which means I should be in my 12th week but I've been dated about a week later than.

All a bit confusing but as long as things look in proportion and baby is growing at a decent rate it's probably fine.

My date is probably stuck at the end of May now but hey. .. I'll stay here with you!

WifeofGru · 23/11/2013 18:19

Hello all, had a scan yesterday at obstetrician's office. LMP put me at 9+3 but scan shows 10+2. Not surprised as have shortish cycles and last 2 preganncies due date has been brought forward by quite a bit.
However, the obstetrician still has put my EDD as based on LMP which is silly because my nuchal test will then be too late and had to phone the ultrasound place and then argue with them about when I actually needed the test done.
Anyway all sorted so nuchal scan 2nd December with immediate results combined with finger prick bloods done at the obstetric place yesterday and they may change EDD based on scan. WTF? In my part of UK induction is not til term plus 12 when I would actually be term plus 18.
Quite a disjointed service considering most people's insurance leaves a shortfall of around $6000 for each pregnancy antenatal care. I can't wait to get home to NHS and hopefully they will adjust EDD if necessary. Have date on scan pic of 10+2 with 22.11.13 at top.
Scan pic is beautiful btw. Just a bit of a dark cloud due to some of the differing practices here in USA.

Emmazers · 23/11/2013 18:49

Penguin So sorry to hear your news. Best wishes for the future x

WifeofGru · 23/11/2013 19:42

Oh also, quick straw poll. What vitamins are everyone taking?
I was folic acid and vitamin D. The obstetrician was Shock that I wasn't taking a prenatal multivitamin, DHA supplement and separate calcium supplement. The practice were really pushing these chocolates with extra calcium. As far as I can see (and I am a medic myself) no large scale studies have ever shown benefit, especially for mother's with a varied and healthy diet. New Yorkers are quite a neurotic species though.

MyNameIsWinkly · 23/11/2013 19:50

I'm taking the tesco pregnancy multi vitamins. I only wanted folic acid and vitamin D, but the whole world seemed to have sold out of those on their own. I think the extra iron has done me some good re tiredness.

However am considering switching to pregnacare. I've heard it bungs you up, and as my 'morning sickness from the other end' made a violent and distressing comeback yesterday, that would only be a good thing!

Mitchell2 · 23/11/2013 19:58

I'm alternating between the pregnacare and boots one with ginger... Both multivitamins - seem fine for me.

wispaxmas · 23/11/2013 20:05

I'm taking the pregnacare ones. Was taking another brand (can't remember which), and falling victim to the 'morning sickness from he other end', and it cleared up when i started taking pregnacare, winkly!

Emmazers · 23/11/2013 20:12

Folic acid and B6 (desperation for morning sickness). My diet is really varied and I'm not convinced that taking extra, especially in supplement form without essential cofactors present in food) is either helpful or even completely without downsides.

Interestingly my midwife told me that they are starting to look into the increase in taking folic acid as a possible cause of tongue tie, which seems to have become widespread from unknown in a few years.

CleverOl10 · 23/11/2013 20:15

Taking boots own pregnancy vitamins plus extra folic acid prescribed by the midwife. No obvious problems except the massive size of the preggo pills!

GillyBillyWilly · 23/11/2013 21:05

I'm taking pregnacare Smile

OP posts:
littlepickly · 23/11/2013 21:31

I'm taking pregnacare too

BEEwitched · 23/11/2013 21:45

I've been taking the high dose folic acid but add In in the 2nd trimester I'll stop taking those soon. Haven't been taking anything else, will probably start taking Pregnacare after stopping the folic acid.
