Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MrsGSR · 13/11/2013 22:57

Sarah I think the NHS say to pack your hospital bag 2 weeks before you're due, I've only packed mine as I can't seem to sleep at night! Hope your arm feels better soon!

sarahleanne · 14/11/2013 01:06

toby at least you have bought the boys you need for it , that's one step closer than me
mrs I remember having it packed with DS for ages and I went to 42 weeks so I think that's why I'm not in a mad rush but you never know! I will get organised soon .

So it's 1am and I have just scrubbed DS sick off the bedroom floor. Looks like a day off work for me tomorrow as he's not very well.poor little man.

sarahleanne · 14/11/2013 01:06

Bits not boys!

AnotherStitchInTime · 14/11/2013 04:01

Been up for an hour with dd2, she was up at 11pm for an hour too. Grrr to winter viruses.

TarkaTheOtter · 14/11/2013 05:10

Dd has only accepted sleeping on me whilst I sit in her room since 2am now. I did manage to get her in her cot about an hour ago but she woke up 10mins later. I'm not even sure she's ill/teething anymore - starting to think she's just decided this is how she now wants to sleep. I wouldn't mind if she'd cosleep but no, I have to be sitting up. Grr. Going to handover to dh soon.

Naturegirl82 · 14/11/2013 07:01

Sarah I'm with you on the sore arm. Whopping cough jab for me too yesterday and my arm is really sore as well.

Sultanajo · 14/11/2013 07:21

Oh no - boo hiss for poorly little ones! There is so much going around the at the moment - really hope they get better quickly and you all get some much needed sleep!

Toby with it being my first (and just feeling very wuss like right now) I may pack water wipes AND cotton wool and then depending on how brave I feel at the hospital will decide which one I bring out... At home I will use water wipes though I suspect....

Last day at work today and as excited as I am about that fact, it has also made me have a mini freak out that what that means is bubs will be along soon!!! OMG!!! Ekkkk! Don't feel prepared at all! Can't wait for this weekend to make lists and then go and buy a whole ton of baby crap and then use next week to wash everything and try and get organised!!!

Mac2014 · 14/11/2013 07:42

OMG sultana I think you're one of the first to go on mat leave... V jealous. Off for a difficult day fielding media interviews. May play the pregnant card with anyone difficult!

toby I'm with you and the other non-packed ladies. Starting to slightly panic as I've got my 32 week scan tomorrow to check my placenta is working - ifnot I might be induced. Slim chance but I've definitely got my head in the sand!

Hope all you ladies with DC sleeping issues got sorted and got some well deserved rest.

Sultanajo · 14/11/2013 07:50

I am really lucky Mac that I had 4 weeks holiday saved up, so have tagged that on to the start... Really feel I need all these weeks to get myself sorted!

Good luck with the media interviews - preggers card definitely needs to be used while you still can!

Really good luck with your scan tomorrow. Why do they have concerns about your placenta if you don't mind me asking?

Sultanajo · 14/11/2013 07:56

How amazing are blueberries by the way? They are my new obsession and managed to get two giant packs for £4 as they had a short shelf life. Well, so far they have lasted 5 days and I think they will go on to last another 2 and they are mainly super sweet and yummy (with the odd sharp one thrown in so I don't get too complacent!) Tomorrow I am gonna treat myself to waffles with blueberries and yoghurt rather than my normal non-added sugar museli! Yum! Grin

Mac2014 · 14/11/2013 08:10

Thanks sultana.

My hormone levels were odd at the initial blood test (12 wk I think), which could mean that my placenta isn't passing all the nutrients for laying down the subcutaneous fat mini-mac needs. If that's the case it would mean it would have a better chance to grow on it's own.

As my DH says 'you're pg, of course your hormones are odd!'

I've also got a growing cyst and fibroid that they're keeping an eye on.

I think an early induction is highly unlikely, particularly as my whale like proportions can't all be water!

Enjoy your last day!

enormouse · 14/11/2013 08:36

The poor little things. Hope they feel better soon.

I have to go and get my flu and whooping cough jab in an hour and I'm dreading it somewhat as I'm back in college for the rest of the day. Meh need to get extensions on my essay as have been too knackered to get it done.

I'm not packed either. I went overdue with DS. I have a bag, I have some stuff but the two have not met yet. I think I'll get it packed towards the end of this month. I was told yesterday that the new baby is quite large (on the 90th/95th centile, almost 3.8lb EFW) relative to my petite size so I would rather not go overdue this time.

Percypiglet · 14/11/2013 09:00

Testing, testing 1, 2, 3, the techies might have got me back on mumsnet!

Percypiglet · 14/11/2013 09:04

Whoop whoop, finally!!!! It's been weird not being able to talk to you all for a whole week. I've just talked at the screen instead while reading all your messages and updates.

Mac - thanks for posting my message to Space for me. Space so glad the funeral was good and hope you feel at peace. Hope you're going to stay with us here.

My three - hope all gets sorted at the hospital with your eye... how scary. Hopefully all will be okay.

I cant remember anything else other than to say youch, my arm hurts from whooping cough jab but it's getting better 2 days in now! And I haven't packed my hospital bag and don't even have half the things yet - I'm 30.5 weeks and I plan to do this when I go on leave at 34 weeks, as long as bubs stays where he/she is, should be fine.

Have a lovely sunny day all.

AnotherStitchInTime · 14/11/2013 09:15

How is your ds today sarah? Hope your arm feels better soon.

Sorry to hear you have had bad nights too Tarka

Hope they have finally got it sorted Percy.

Yay for mat leave sultana :)

Got my growth scan today to check baby's stomach and placenta again.

Bit stressed as living with my mum and DH under the same roof is a bit strained, but we could used the extra support. Not easy when they are like chalk and cheese and all squashed into a 2 bedroom flat.

enormouse · 14/11/2013 10:10

I second sarah whooping cough feels much more sore than the flu jab arm. I should still be able to take notes hopefully.

enormouse · 14/11/2013 10:12

Best of luck with your scan btw another
And HI Percy welcome back!

MrsGSR · 14/11/2013 10:15

Hope all the poorly little ones get better soon!

Good luck for your scans Mac and Another :)

Welcome back Percy, glad it's working again :)

Went to boots yesterday to buy some nappies, realised when I got there that I'd forgotten the voucher for the free nappy bag. Oops!

sarahleanne · 14/11/2013 10:44

oh no to all the poorly little ones! I hope they all get better soon. DS is off school and not very well, he's curled up on the sofa with a duvet.
I hope they all get better soon, it's not nice seeing them poorly but a lot quieter .

toby thanks for asking about my niece, she's doing well thanks and is going back to Bristol today for some check up scans.

Good luck to everyone with appointments/scans today, let us know how you get on. I have my fingers crossed for you .

I'm going to make a start on DD's birthday cake for Saurday.. she will be 2 and I'm making her a peppa pig cake as she is obsessed.
I have literally got the worst back pain ever and am really struggling to get around at the moment. I have my first session of physio next week and it can't come quick enough. Everytime I put any weight on my feet my lower back (almost as low as my bumBlush ) seriously hurts and gives way its awful.
I never had back pain with my other two, I had all my pain in my pelvis so this is new to me.

Sultanajo · 14/11/2013 10:55

Ah I see Mac. Fingers firmly crossed for you then that all is as it should be and bubs doesn't need to make an early appearance!

Yay Percy! Good to have you back!

Another good luck for your scan today - keeping everything firmly crossed for you! Glad you are getting the extra support from your mum, even if it's also causing a bit of tension....

Sarah oh no! That sounds absolutely horrible! Poor you! Are you OK when you are sitting/lying down at least? Great to hear your niece is doing so well - fingers crossed for her scans today!

Sultanajo · 14/11/2013 11:56

Just had a call from the health visitor who has a cancellation in the morning and asked if I could take the appointment, which I can. Anyone else been in contact with a health care visitor yet and/or know what to expect?

sarahleanne · 14/11/2013 12:20

sultan it's OK if I am sat down in certain positions but lying down is agony. I'm really struggling to keep up with housework and look after the kids as everything is taking twice as long.
The health visitor sounds very organised. I never heard from mine until after I was discharged from Midwifery care. Maybe it's just to register you/have a chat?

Currently trying to get hold of any family member to come and watch DS while I pick up DD from nursery later as I don't want to drag him out in the cold. MIL watched him this morning which was good but I need someone for later. This is the trouble with having a husband who work away all the bloody time.

Frizz1986 · 14/11/2013 12:57

Yay sultana I am beyond jealous right now. Still have just under 5 weeks to go until I leave and I can't wait!!
I haven't heard anything from a health visitor yet and was only expecting to hear after bubs had arrived. Maybe they are just really organised on that side where you are.
I have no idea what they do now though. Surely they are all about after the birth to make sure bubs is ok and you are coping well and watching out for PND.

Sorry for all the poorly people. Can't be fun dealing with that whilst exhaustion has completely set in. I really don't know how you do it!

I only got my bag packed as it was starting to stress me, what with one of the NCT girls giving birth at 35 weeks and my sister gave birth at 34 weeks so want to be ready. Can't quite see my dh figuring out what he needs to buy from the 24hr tesco lol.

mac and another hope the scans go well and everything is looking good in there. What does bubs look like this far on? Bet they are huge compared to the 20 week scan.

enormouse hope the jabs are ok. Am I the only one who had no effects from either flu or whooping cough? I think my body likes injections as I have never swelled up or had a sore arm or anything. The only issue I had was feeling sick after my typhoid on (i think) but thats it.

Welcome back percy Smile

sarahl glad your niece is doing well. Sorry about the pooly ds but yay for cake making. I really want to get good at character cakes (i do cupcakes really and thats it) but my imagination seems to go wild and it would cost way to much for me to do and I don't have anyone I could bake it for either. Can't wait until I can do cool bakes for my kids.

fryingpantoface · 14/11/2013 13:06

hi everyone!

My cot comes today, woo! Should be here in about 2 hours, and then I've got the whooping cough jab at 17.10, not looking forward to it.

PIL have DS today, so I've got time just to chill out. Then me and DH are going to watch a movie tonight with nachos and hot dogs. yummy!

Sultanajo · 14/11/2013 13:08

Oh sarah thats awful! Really feel for you. Bet you are exhausted! Hope you manage to find someone to help you this afternoon at least.

One of the girls from my NCT group has a health visitor visit booked also. I think it is just to introduce themselves and let me know what they do etc. Must be routine to do this before birth in this area. Hope they are nice. Dont think I would have been contacted quite so soon if they hadnt had a cancellation. Sounds as though they had been ringing round trying to get the appointment filled for a while, as she thanked me profusely for taking the appointment, like I was doing her a massive favour! Grin

I keep trying to get a video clip of bubs moving with my phone. My tummy was just jumping all over the place. But every time I start recording he stops moving! Little monkey! Grin
