Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MrsAVB · 12/11/2013 08:55

Morning all and hugs all round, I don't care if it's not "mumsnet", it sounds like we all need them. And at least I didn't spell it with a Z on the end.
nature yay for positive scan news, so glad you were reassured. Boo to tendonitis.
We're not expecting to have any more tests on baby's brain, which I'm hoping means that the consultant was absolutely happy there's nothing to worry about or it could mean there's nothing they can do even if there is something to worry about.
frying, hope you have had some stern words with your DH... Boys just don't understand how hard being preggo is.
I could leave work earlier if I wanted but I want to have as much time after and as much pay as possible.
three hope you've slept ok? You've had a rough time... Hope you can chill out today. Am sure the eye stuff is going to be ok, and yes, step away from dr google.
frizz, so pleased you had a positive chat with your boss and things are looking up, must be a weight off.
sultana am Envy at last week at work. I hate the bonus alarm too, it's so selfish!
humpty hope you're ok and cuntpuffin DH is being less of an idiot.
tooth I loved your H&S story Grin
sarah your hamster story made me chuckle too... Does that make me a bad person?
another yay for being out of hospital, hope you've had lovely snuggles with DCs and are being looked after.
choco boo to piles and anaemia! Hopefully once you finish work things will be easier...
curly stupid diabetes, hope today goes ok starting metformin.
We are doing NHS and NCT classes. The NHS ones are a bit more matter of fact and specific to the hospital's procedures on stuff, much less fluffy getting to know you stuff. Plus it's a much bigger group and much more varied (ie less white middle class!). Am glad we did both as they're quite different but I think if I had to choose I would do NCT.
Sorry if I forgot anyone...have a good day all
X

TobyLerone · 12/11/2013 09:14

Argh! I'm on my phone and I'm too lazy so it's hard to scroll back, but I'll try to remember...

Glad your scan was so reassuring, nature. What a relief!

Yay for being free, another :o

Glad the hamster isn't dead, sarahl! How is your niece now, btw?

curly, the end is in sight! Honestly, it is. I promise Flowers

Hope you're having a lovely week off, book!

Boo for piles, cuntbosses, cuntDHs and mean midwives.
Yay for classes and outings and heartburn and other ailments.

Yes, the electrician came! He is a legend. The electrics in my house are awful and nothing is wired as it ought to be. The poor man probably wishes he hadn't answered his phone!
The upshot was that he's had to do a temporary fix (after being here for 5 hours!) and he's coming back later in the week to fix it properly. And, best of all, he only charged me £80 for 5 hours work Shock
He's the dad of someone I've been friends with since I was 10. He's the loveliest man!

Today I am taking 3 black bags of old clothes to the charity shop, I've got a friend coming round to collect another bag of clothes which I won't ever use again but are too nice to send to charity when she can have them instead, and then it's round to my grandad's to do his cleaning.
Good times!

fryingpantoface · 12/11/2013 10:10

morning all! DH came home 90 mins early yesterday totally unexpectedly. He said he'll do all he can to help. He's arranged for his mom to have ds overnight on Thursday so I can relax. I finish work at 12 on Thursday so have plenty of time for just me. I'm going to sleep!

Sadly DS didn't want his dad last night, so it was still all on me, but it's easier with a more understanding husband.

enormouse · 12/11/2013 14:35

Hi everyone,
Much sympathy with you all, sounds like the majority are having a rough time at the moment so hugs.

choco sounds terrible. Know how you feel with the anaemia.

frizz yes, yes, yes to having the baby out. DP has found me sobbing on a few occasions with the words 'i just want it out!!' And good luck for your classes.

another no housework sounds great. Hope you feel better soon.

sarah congrats on the new car. I'm being given a third hand fiesta for Christmas and am ecstatic. It's the incentive I need to pass. Bless the wee hamster. I remember costing my parents about £50 in fees and medicine because I wouldn't allow pongo the hamster to be put down. He was nearly 4 years old and completely decrepit at that point.

humpty and frying there should be somewhere for them to go and think about how ridiculous they're being. Dp has yet again tried to put our gangly 2 year old into a 9-12 month top. My fault for not packing it away and sorting out DSs wardrobe, apparently. Oh and all his tops look the same - no DP, there's one that looks like a crop top.

sultanajo hope you have a lovely time tonight.

MrsAVB thanks for the hugs.

toby it's great you have such a reliable electrician. I remember wanting to kiss the lovely man who fixed my washing machine.

I think I might be turning into a pervert. I fell asleep watching the IT crowd last night, and had an extremely vivid dream where I shagged Chris o'dowd in my sister's bed. Is anyone else having crazy dreams?
I'm having a fairly good day, as I got to sleep in (DPs day off) and he has now taken ds to see his grandparents. I think I'm going to have a hot chocolate and watch bad tv. Possibly read the Christmas threads here.

MrsVDB · 12/11/2013 14:41

I'm also feeling a bit rubbish at the moment so know how you all feel. The work on our house is taking longer than we thought and living in a building site for the last 10 months is really getting to us now. Last contractor is doing work fitting shower room now but having trouble with him not turning up/ doing a good job. Dh is visibly stressed for the first time since I've known him and took a few days off work last week. Feel sorry for him but can't really offer much sympathy as also feeling v stressed. Keep having random crying break downs which dh doesn't like!

On the plus new golf got delivered today and I love it!

Mythreeknights · 12/11/2013 15:24

Hi all and thanks for your msgs. Sorry to hear of all the other angst going on in our collective lives!! Poor little unborn bairns must be feeling rather stressed by our stress at the moment. Well, an update from me. I've found a top eye specialist in Edinburgh, they have an appt next Weds, the insurance company will cover it and my GP has agreed to refer me today so all things being equal, I will know what is going on fairly soon. Better than a 2 month wait anyhow! Phew. I have now been worrying about a lack of movement from the baby so just been out to walk the dog, now drinking a mammoth cup of tea and eating some fruit and nut chocolate and hope that I get a significant kick in the next hour or so.

mrsdvb building works suck - but it will be worth it in the end! I promise.

Mythreeknights · 12/11/2013 15:29

Happy days, baby now has hiccups. Smile The tea and chocolate has worked!

MrsVDB · 12/11/2013 15:35

Ah that must be lovely, I don't think I've felt hiccups yet, how does it feel different?

Sultanajo · 12/11/2013 15:44

MrsA thanks for the info on both types of antenatal classes. Very interesting.... I think the NCT ones were the right choice for us - I need the fluffiness! Grin

Toby Hurray for your awesome electrician! Blimey - he has a lot of patience - 5 hours and only a temporary fix. At least you can use things again and the end is in sight!

Frying a little understanding from your DH goes a long way to helping doesn't it? So pleased he has seen the light!

Enormouse hurray for a good day! Lol for being a perv! I had a few of those dreams earlier on in pregnancy. Any dreams I have had recently have involved giving birth or bringing bubs home....

MrsV it's amazing how much of a negative impact building work can have. It's bad enough when it's all going to plan, but when it starts to drag on and promises aren't kept, along with shoddy work it royally sucks! Really hope it gets sorted soon and the two of you can make your way out of the stress fug! Hugs!

Mythree well that's just awesome news! Well done you getting that all organised! I bet that makes you feel a bit better now you have a date to work towards and hopefully it will be good news.... Will be keeping everything crossed for you!

Well, DH was looking all down in the dumps last night and said he was stressing over work issues. This morning he was also looking sad and he was starting to stress again over an issue he stressed over a few months back that we got to the bottom of and sorted out. He does tend to do this from time to time and I think bubs coming along so soon is bringing out previous worries about various things. I really felt for him, so I am hoping going out tonight will help take his mind off things and he can relax for at least a few hours... Poor DH - feel quite helpless - doesn't seem to matter what I say, he will still continue to stress. It's difficult because I am the sort of person who will generally push things to the back of my mind and pretend it's not happening, whereas he very much over thinks things for hours and gets himself in a right tizz! Think I am gonna have to try and talk to him again to see if I can get to the route of the stress. I suspect it's because I am finishing work this week and he will suddenly be the main wage coming in.

Sultanajo · 12/11/2013 15:49

Yay for hiccups mythree!

MrsV when my bubs has had hiccups, it feels like a regular little kick (but what's weird is it feels like it's happening in my bum???). However, as bubs has grown, if I now put my hand on my tummy when I am feeling this regular little bum kick, I also feel it in my tummy. It took me a while to put two and two together and work out that what I was feeling was bubs having hiccups. Mine has been having them quite regularly and in fact has had them several times over the last few days. It's soooo cute!

AnotherStitchInTime · 12/11/2013 16:34

Hello everyone :)

mythree glad to hear you have found an eye specialist, it is terrible not knowing. Baby belly hiccups are so funny :)

mrsV my sympathies to you, I lived in a building site with no fully functional kitchen, bathroom or toilet when I went into labour with dd2, it is unbelievably stressful. When do they expect it will all be finished?

enormouse Grin, pervy dreams are great, the only fun I have of that sort atm is in my dreams!

toby glad to hear you have found a lovely electrician that doesn't charge the Earth.

Sarah glad you located the hamster. I once looked after some children who had lost their hamster. It was found six months later when their mum sat down on the sofa and it collapsed. It had gnawed out the entire inside of the sofa to make it's bed!

fryingglad to hear your DH is being more supportive.

choco I have been on iron tablets whilst in hospital. I got them to prescribe me Lactulose 15ml twice a day too, it helps stop you being constipated and allows the piles to recover. Paracetamol pessaries are great if the piles are really painful, the GP can prescribe them along with haemorrhoid cream like Germoloids.

Sorted out all the unpaid bills today, DH didn't know what to do with them as I do all the financial stuff normally. Enjoying Mnetting on the sofa as I am not allowed to do anything else, makes a nice change [grin

quackojuliet · 12/11/2013 17:39

Ooooh lots to catch up on, sounds like we're having a right time of it ladies!
Glad you spoke to your boss frizz I'm hoping to talk with mine tomorrow. Work is wringing out any energy I have left..which isn't much.
Does anyone else have some days with relatively ok energy and others they are just like a zombie?? I sleep generally ok,wake up 4 or 5 times in the night to shift position or wee but fall back asleep normally. Some days I wake up shattered and am in a fog all day for no obvious reason...
Baby's getting comfy,I think still head down because I have what feels like little wriggles in my pelvis (hands) and big movements near by ribs (legs) plus something big round and hard in upper abdomen (I suspect bum,as if I touch it I get a kick nearby). Not seeing the mw til 34 weeks so hope head down by then.
Felt very achey in the pelvis this afternoon, hope its not here to stay.
We've also got our first 'social' before nct class tomorrow. Not easy for us to make it but I feel like we should make the effort. Ours is achingly white middle class, going to try the hospital ones too in a couple of weeks for a different side of the story. Want to hear what they say about interventions in birth - well,I want dh to hear so that he can ask questions/intervene if needed when the time comes.
Restful evenings all!

MrsVDB · 12/11/2013 18:04

another we started the whole house renovation in January and expected in to take a couple of months but after a 9 month rewire that went out the window. Shower room is last bit of major building work and was supposed to be finished while we were in Bali in September but he just doesn't turn up for weeks on end. Hoping for it to be done this week. Getting there with the rest of the house so hopefully be done by mid Dec. Think this is the main cause of dh stress but well get there :)

Shouldn't moan

TarkaTheOtter · 12/11/2013 19:32

Sultana I remember last time round that dh got really stressed about work once I went in maternity leave because he was going to be the sole earner responsible for providing financially for three of us. He did get a grip eventually though Grin.

Dd has yelled at me all afternoon because she is ill. She finally agreed to take some medicine and is now in her room singing to herself rather than sleeping. Last night she didn't want to sleep in her cot but almost drifted off lying on the floor. It's been weeks now since she slept through. I'm now terrified of having two bad sleepers.

My bump has exploded in size this last week. Baby is all at the front so from the back you wouldn't even know but it sticks out so far to the front. It's like the baby is lying straight from my spine to my belly button. It's so weird.

extracrunchy · 12/11/2013 20:09

Tarka so strange - DS just started bedtime games again tonight! He's been very straightforward for ages and all of a sudden we're having yelling at the door for ages again. Please let it be temporary...

AnotherStitchInTime · 12/11/2013 20:22

Also having a bad evening with dd2. Teething plus virus, just had to syringe feed her milk as her mouth is so sore. It will be a long hour until I can give her a dose of ibuprofen, the paracetamol hasn't really touched the pain, but her fever has come down at least.

extracrunchy · 12/11/2013 20:34

Oh no Another, poor little thing Sad hope it's not a long night and she feels better very soon.

Frizz1986 · 12/11/2013 21:02

Sorry for all the children playing bedtime games.

Just got back from nhs class and it was ok. Good to have some more info but there were about 40 of us! One of the girls from nct was there though and ended up sat next to us which was nice.
I am def glad we have done nct though as there are just too many people at the nhs one so the nct one is much more relaxed and more led by what we wanted to know as a group.

Anyway i picked up some useful stuff like more info to make sure my bag is packed properly etc.
Must chill now tho so will do a catch up in the AM

mythree am glad u found a specialist!

flyawayblue · 12/11/2013 21:09

Hey all, sorry to hear about the idiots and trouble with dc's sleeping patterns.

On my phone on the sofa after giving up on this evening so hard to reply.

I've had odd stomach pains today, kinda light pain constantly but really sharp if I move in the wrong way. No idea what it is though baby is still moving like mad. Not nice though, hope it sorts it's self out other wise will mention to the midwife on Friday at my 31 week appointment.

enormouse · 12/11/2013 21:28

Oh God is it a full moon or something? DS wouldn't settle either. Tantrummed and I had him in with me till about 20 minutes ago till daddy put him back to bed. Best of luck to all of you struggling with the little gits darlings.

Great news about your specialist mythree

Just try and relax as much as you can flyaway.

I'm feeling a lot of movement. This little guy is much more active than his older brother was.

Speaking if which, I can hear him. Emphatically, not sleeping. It's going to be a long night. I had more to write but I'll come back later!

enormouse · 12/11/2013 21:43

Ds in bed, actually lying on top of me as I write this. Watching Dr who.

Not my finest parenting moment, I'll admit.

Angelesque · 12/11/2013 22:36

quackojuliet YY re: energy!! So weird... Every couple of weeks for no discernible reason I wake up feeling like a total zombie... Just cannot get out if bed, can barely open my eyes... No rhyme not reason for it, it just seems to happen randomly!

MrsVDB · 12/11/2013 22:37

frizz that reminds me, when I was looking through my notes last week I noticed a sheet which has a list of things to pack in hospital bag (and quantities). I'm sure this wasn't put in much earlier and it hasn't been mentioned but if anyone finds it useful I could type up tomorrow?

Sultanajo · 12/11/2013 22:52

Really sorry you guys are having rough bedtime routines....Hopefully just temporary....

Just got in from our nct social night which was awesome and we have arranged our next one as a big group, as well as one for just the girls. Only downer was I should have taken the gaviscon with me! Came back and grabbed the bottle like a woman possessed! Hmm

extracrunchy · 13/11/2013 01:08

Enormouse don't sweat it... We're entitled to loosen up slightly for the last few weeks, right..? Or am I a terrible parent?! DS has endless horse-related games downloaded on the iPad now! (Current obsession is horses. Was fun and relatively unique to begin with but if he says "mummy look REINS" one more time I will just implode.)
