Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Ladies...so you might remember I suddenly had blurred vision last week? Well, I went to the optician on Thursday and it turns out my prescription has completely changed, which explains that. But I also asked the optician to look at my eyelid as I've had a 'stye' which has been bleeding and itching for about 4 months now (I had been to the GP in the summer and he prescribed fucidic acid which didn't really help, but eventually it settled down and I forgot about it). Anyhow, apparently because it has a) grown, b) bled c) itchy and d) endured this long, there's a small chance it could be skin cancer and now I'm being referred to an eye clinic for a consultation, BUT the referral could take 2 months. I then found an eye specialist over the weekend and I calmed myself down saying I'd call her and make a private appt, but called this morning and she's on compassionate leave....so I'm now waiting for the clinic to call back with an alternative suggestion on who to see. The thought that this might not have been a simple stye has been at the back of my mind for about 2 months but now that someone has said 'yes, unlikely to be cancer but lets get it checked out' has completely terrified me. I cannot ASSUME it IS cancer and fall apart, but it's hard staying positive when my eye is constantly itchy and sore, and now I've noticed the eye lashes have fallen out which is a classic sign of it being cancerous. FUCK. Tell me to get a grip.

Naturegirl82 · 11/11/2013 10:52

Oh mythree how worrying for you. I can't tell you to get a grip as the waiting is the worst part but at least you have been referred and are in the system and hopefully the clinic will call back and give you some advise Thanks

MrsGSR · 11/11/2013 11:13

mythree Flowers I hope you manage to get an appointment soon. From what you've said it sounds like they don't think it is, they just want to check. Keeping fx its fine.

frying I hope your DH makes up for it when he gets home. I've not slept much either, so may be completely wrong, but if you conceived on the 15th of April wouldn't you be 32 weeks today?

Toby I hope he turns up soon!

TarkaTheOtter · 11/11/2013 12:49

mythree Thanks try to stay optimistic - it probably is just a stye. Try not to google.

frying I have a dh like that too. Only "ill" if I'm around to pick up the slack - otherwise he'll miraculously soldier on.

Frizz1986 · 11/11/2013 12:52

mythree holy cow! Got all fx for you. Am sure all will be ok and it is just a precaution.
And of course you will notice anything and everything that would indicate it as cancer now as for some reason as soon as we get something into our heads our minds start finding reasons to back it up. Just remember symptom spotting for being pg. You start to notice everything under the sun that could be an indication of something.
Hope they get back to you soon so that you can get an answer.

toby hope the electrician shows up soon. I am the same about people coming to the house to do things. I can't sit still until they have finished. I seem to potter doing nothing much until they go.

frying what a douche he is being. Its not like you probably have a bad back ALL THE TIME!! I would have been very frustrated and annoyed.

I spoke to my boss this morning and she was really nice and offered to move some jobs around so I am just helping out as and when I can. She understood that I didn't want to seem like I was complaining as I am the sort of person who feels that I get paid to do a job and its my own fault I am upduffed so I shouldnt be expecting special treatment, but she pointed out that they have a duty of care to me and I am to say if I feel at all stressed so they can make changes to help me.
Thankfully the girl who was off next week with my boss now isn't as her sons operation has been moved to the week after so I will have some support now. My boss was almost considering cancelling her week off so I would be ok which reminds me that some people can be pretty lovely.

I have to arrange my mat meeting myself for next week now as the HR guy is off this week so my boss said as long as I am happy just letting her know what we discussed I can have it without her there.
Going to go through all the facts I have ready as I think there will be a few things that are different.

fryingpantoface · 11/11/2013 13:23

According to the scan it's 31 weeks on Thursday, well that was theb12 week scan. But i am measuring two weeks ahead fundal height wise. So maybe. I've never heard of the 12 week scan being wrong before. And i was able to hear the heartbeat from 13 weeks... So possibly! That would be great.

sounds like everyone is having a day of it today!

Sultanajo · 11/11/2013 13:40

Mythree what a worry for you! It's never nice when something you are concerned about is actually voiced by someone else. I know that feeling of "I just need answers NOW!" Deep breaths and step away from google. The waiting is always the worst part and it's great you are being proactive and getting it checked quickly. We are here to HTH and be by your side through the testing and I will keep everything firmly crossed it's just an annoying stye. They can be really irritating..... Wine

Frizz yay! That's awesome about your boss! Totally the right thing to say something - they generally tend to assume all is well unless you say something, so that's great she is now very much aware of things! Woop woop! Grin

Frying get it off your chest and let rip! I very much have moments of "FFS" and then immediately feel terrible as I would go through hell and back to have this baby and for him to be healthy and well, but there are times it gets very wearing and I have shed the odd tear of frustration at feeling so pathetic, knackered, huge etc..... Let's face it, it's really hard work and I take my hat off to all of you being preggers AND looking after a toddler! It's bad enough having to work and be preggers....

Blue I thought the same as you about the link - my first instinct was "wow, that's cool" and my second was "I would never use it - wouldn't trust myself!"

MrsA the gaviscon (as gross as it is) has saved me! Honestly I feel like a new woman with it - I have a personality again and EVERYTHING! I still can't lie down and if I don't take it the heartburn is EVIL, but as long as I take it after every meal and before bed, it gets me through the worst, which is all I can ask. I would defo go to the docs and get it prescribed!!!

Toby I Absolutely HATE having workmen in the house! I am the same as you and just can't relax until they have gone and also sit around waiting for them, getting myself more and more worked up - they are nearly ALWAYS late! Plus, I then immediately need to pee when they arrive but don't feel I can go with them in the house, so by the time they leave I am practically wetting myself! Really hope yours has finally turned up. We are gonna need a plumber very shortly, so that will be down to me on mat leave - can't wait!!!

Nature great you have a scan to check on bubs. Can you mention the weight loss to the midwife? I would just mention it and make her aware just in case she feels there is anything significant in it. Can you account for it - as in have you been eating less recently? Poor you with your wrist - that sounds sore!

Well I changed the formation of my pillows and actually managed to sleep in the bed last night, until DH came to bed in the early hours and woke me up crashing the door shut. Then it took me ages to get back to sleep and then DH's alarm went off about 6 times this morning (his alarm goes off about an hour before mine). He hits the sleep button numerous time to get "bonus sleep" and then goes straight back to sleep. Meanwhile I lie awake for my last hour in bed because his bloody alarm keeps going off! His first question to me this morning was "how did you sleep?". He got an ear-full I can tell you about him and his frickin "bonus sleep". Seriously! Just set your alarm for the time you need to get up or 5 mins before! Grrrrr!

Well, when bubs is here, if his alarm goes off and he hits snooze and bubs is awake, I will pick bubs up and plonk him on DH so he can make himself useful! Perhaps that will teach him to set his alarm for the time he is actually due to get up? It's just a bit MEAN, especially when he knows how much trouble I am having sleeping at the moment.

Rant over - at least I slept! Should really be grateful for that! Must stop moaning about shit!

OK, so let's turn things around. 5 things I am grateful for - 1) a healthy (hopefully) baby squirming around inside me, 2) my last week of work, 3) that I am fully recovered from horrible bug from last week, 4) DH is lovely to me most of the time and I am very lucky to have him and 5) my OJ and lemondade! Grin

MrsGSR · 11/11/2013 15:39

DH used to do the 'bonus sleep' thing to! I almost killed him a few times and eventually we compromised, now the alarm goes off twice, 15 minutes apart.

I've been completely useless today. Other than doing some Christmas shopping online I've just watched Castle all day...

extracrunchy · 11/11/2013 15:47

Sultana it's my last week at work too!! Can not wait..

Mythree that's a worry you could do without - hope it's all ok. Bet it will be, sounds like they're just being careful and I'm sure 2 month wait wouldn't be the case if they were really worried?

Had 34wk check today - all good, madam is Confusedhead down and very low. Measuring a bit bigger still, so I'm counting on being a bit earlier than planned! (Probably setting myself up for weeks of disappointment...)

Toby did the guy turn up?? I'm the same with people doing work in my house. Hate it!

Sultanajo · 11/11/2013 17:15

MrsG I have talked to him about it before and he did stop for a while, but has gone back to it for some reason. Usually if I have the energy and it really bugs me I will shake him awake and tell him to turn it off, but I just wanted to try and stay asleep this morning! Quite often the alarm will wake me up in the first place and he will sleep through it!

I wouldn't mind if he set it once and then once more, but this morning just took the frickin piss!

Extra yay for last week in and good news on your 34 week check! It's such a surreal feeling finishing work for such a long period of time - I have always worked since my late teens, so it's gonna be weird! Getting paranoid now I will have forgotten to do something major before I go off...

flowersfortea · 11/11/2013 18:30

sultanajo may I apologise for being like your husband with the alarm? tell him to sort it out though, you need your sleep!

Shall we continue your grateful list?

For me, I'm grateful that:

  1. The builders have stopped outside my office window this week (was terribly noisy)
  2. We finally seem to have sorted the heating thermostat and timer out at home
  3. Most importantly, baby is moving more and more, and hubby has got into the habit of copping a feel (of belly!!) while I'm still dozing in the mornings so he's getting his time with her too :-)
HumptyDumptyBumpty · 11/11/2013 18:37

Sounds like we need a (((MASSIVE HUG.)))

Apols to those I forget:
mythree fx that it's 'just' a stye (ouch) and you don't have anything worse to worry about. Bloody bodies, eh, can't rely on them.

sultana my 'D'H pushed me out of bed twice last night, and is now being a massive cunt about 'being made' to wait in for a delivery (which was scheduled by John Lewis, not me, and which I did not have any influence over; he doesn't work, I do) and has really fucked me off. Just in case it's any consolation.

frying again in commiseration - I spent all but an hour of my weekend unpacking - loads of lifting, bending etc. 'D'H can take time off whenever he wants, but when I have time off work, I'm expected to do at least half the house unpacking/moving, or I get snide comments about how I 'could at least help'. Fuckbastard. He spent three hours putting our DVD collection into wallets (we need the space, have chucked out a whole box of plastic cases), sat on the floor, while I lay on the floor in the bedroom, hammering cable ties into the skirting to tie the extension cable out of the way.

frizz sorry your work were stressing you out, glad it worked out okay.

Today mainly sucked. Apart from a nice midwife appt, with a lovely trainee mw, who was absolutely fab. Other than that half hour, I officially hate today.

Toothfairy78 · 11/11/2013 19:28

Oh my ladies. Some serious bad mojo with you lot this evening.

Hugs to mythree. FX for you!

Feeling bloody tired today and EVEN more work poured in today when we got told some country changed their laws and now we gotta redo EVERYTHING to keep our permission to sell there. Huff.

Anyway, just thought I'd share a wonderful tale of incompetence so you can all point and laugh. Our company introduced a new enforced policy of reverse parking ONLY in the car park to prevent accidents. They sent round flyers about why it improves our health and safety and put up a feck load of yellow signs this morning and patrols were made with warnings issued for non-compliance.

The signs were poorly placed and practically invisible from the back against the grey sky...some poor guy smacked his head on one of those signs!

Right DH is home so off to NCT class!

Naturegirl82 · 11/11/2013 20:50

Sorry everyone is feeling so crappy today.

I however am feeling positively exuberant Grin Scan went really well. Cyst still there but has shrunk in size so consultant leaning more towards ovarian cyst now which may just need a simple aspiration when baby is born depending on scan. Stomach looked perfectly normal this time so we have opted not to have the amnio as no signs at all of chromosomal problems yay. Grin Baby is measuring big though about 1.5-2 weeks ahead so she may well come early or I'll be having a ginormous baby! Bought a few little baby bits to celebrate. Feeling so much happier about everything now. Dh and I finally feel like we can relax, and have now taken the big step to annouce it on facebook finally. Just thought I would share my good news. Thanks for all the support it's been very much appreciated. Smile

Angelesque · 11/11/2013 21:03

Yay Nature! Such good news, so happy for you!

extracrunchy · 11/11/2013 21:28

Nature that's brilliant!! Grin So pleased for you.

Sultanajo · 11/11/2013 21:29

Yay nature! What good news! Bet you are feeling on top of the world!

tooth the sign story made me literally snort with laughter! Totally didnt see that coming! Oh the irony!

humpty ffs! Sounds as though your DH needs to get with the program! So sorry your day has majorly sucked! Poor you! Sad

Sultanajo · 11/11/2013 21:30

flowers I will gloss over the fact you admitted to being part of the bonus sleep gang! Loving your grateful list!

I am now grateful for gaviscon and the warm bath I am about to get into....Grin

sarahleanne · 11/11/2013 21:45

naturethat's great news! Smile

my three you poor thing. As if you havn't got enough on your mind at the moment too. Fingers crossed for you.

space Idris' funeral sounds beautiful and i'm glad it went as well as it could have.

frying your 'rant' post actually made me smile because it's nice to know i'm not the only one getting fed up Grin

frizz i'm glad your boss was understanding.

tooth That story made me laugh Grin bloody brilliant

toby Did the electrician turn up? Hmm

Sorry I havn't been on here much , I have been trying to keep up but life has been hectic.

I woke up this morning and went down to the games room to feed DS's hamster and it was wedged in it's tube so I thought shit its not normally there.I called DH to come and look and we both agreed it was dead but as we pushed it out the tube it started moving Shock. I decided we had to take it to the vet as I couldn't leave it to suffer (It couldn't stand up or anything). Well, turns out the bloody thing was just cold and 10 minutes in an incubator at the veterinary hospital it was scurrying around everywhere haha.Bloody thing cost me £30 to have it looked at! Think I will just stick it on a radiator next time Wink. DH was not impressed. On the plus side, I didn't have to invent 'hamster heaven' to DS after he got back from school.

I bought a new car last week Grin . My newest car I have ever owned so i'm very proud. We upgraded our Zafira and bought a 2010 reg and I love it. Yippee!! The idiots who were meant to be viewing my old car didn't turn up tonight though Angry .

I had my 31 weeks check today and baby has moved head down!! I think my hanging off the sofa head first to get baby from oblique lie to head down has actually paid off. The midwife said the head is still bobbing about and free (which is expected on subsequent pregnancies apparently) but I'm just so pleased it's in the right position (it best stay there now!)

I have put on 3 stone already Shock SHIT!! anyone else put on a lot or am I the only fatty in the group?Blush

MrsGSR · 11/11/2013 21:56

Glad your scan was good news nature :)

Sarah I'm too scared to weigh myself!

DH has just put fibrogel into lemonade. It's kind of exploded. He doesn't need any fibre, he stunk out the bathroom yesterday! I only have one sachet left now Angry

AnotherStitchInTime · 11/11/2013 22:06

Sorry everyone is feeling so down in the dumps.

I vote that we send all cuntpuffin work colleagues/clients and unhelpful DH's to room 101 for a day to do penance.

Yay for nature, such good news :)

In other good news I am out of hospital again under strict instructions not to do any housework. DH keeps telling me to sit down every time I stand up! Even one night at home with my kids is wonderful, though I aim not to go back there for a while if I can help it.

Back tomorrow for a proper catch-up after a decent nights sleep in my own bed undisturbed by ladies in labour and squalling newborn babies.

chocoloulou33 · 11/11/2013 23:24

Ho hum. My phone is being just amazing and won't connect to internet properly so right now can only read parts of posts and not see whos written them either!!! OH currently trying to sort it out.

I see we all having issues right now. Can I join the ranting gang please. Was put on iron tablets couple of weeks ago. Tmi alert, been constipated since then. I now have piles!!!! Sooo painful. Never had them b4. Not even in first pregnancy or after having dd. Pregnancy just sooo glamorous right now. Evil constant heartburn. Bad back pain. Anaemia and now this. Boo hiss. Don't for one minute think I'm not happy to be preggars as I sooo am but jeez I miss my old body lol. Ok rant over. Going to sleep now. Oooh one very good thing is thay this is my last week at work yeyyyyy :)

curlywurlyllass · 12/11/2013 00:01

Frizz1986 · 12/11/2013 07:31

Huge hugs all around. It seems everyone is going through a bit of a painful time at the moment. Is this just us getting ready for those last couple of weeks when we just want the baby out as we are so fed up?

tooth mega lol. I proper giggled at the sign.

nature what fab news.

sarahl yay that baby has moved and for the new car! Bloody vet fees though! I had put on almost 3 stone about 2 weeks ago. It still seems to be all bump though so am hoping all will be ok. My god i have enjoyed stuffing my face though.

another yay for being out of hospital. Hopefully the peacefulness at home will mean a super nights sleep.

choco really feeling for you and the pains.

curly sorry gt is getting you down. Try not to stress yourself (easier said than done i know) Just remember you can come on here and de-stress/rant whenever you need to. Huge hugs.

Well i have the first of my nhs antenatal classes tonight. Have no idea what to expect. Not sure how big the group will be or the age range of people. Its closer than our nct one so will only take 10 mins to get to, but its from 6:30pm so will be a mad rush once home from work.

Sultanajo · 12/11/2013 07:55

sarah glad you didn't have to make up hammy heaven for your DS and awesome news on the car and bubs being head down now! Hurray!

another hurray for you being out! Sit still and let everyone wait on you for a change! You will never have another excuse like it! Grin Hope you stay out for as long as possible!

Choco my pile appeared after constipation hell. Only have the one so far, but it has grown in the last week and started itching! Lovely! I'm sexy and I know it! Wink

Curly poor you with your up and down bloods and all of the unknown and having to go to the hospital you didn't want. No wonder you are stressing. Really hope they get you stabilised quickly so you can get used to everything and feel more chilled....

Frizz let us know how the NHS antenatal classes compare to the NCT ones. Will be interested to hear....

We are out tonight with our NCT group for our first group social event which will be cool. Just hoping I can stay awake.....was awake for about 3 hours last night with DH snoring and then "alarmgate" this morning! Still, only two more early get ups for work so mustn't grumble too much!
