Congrats book how exciting!!

Had my 28w growth scan yesterday and all is good, head measured 29w (which I'm not too keen on) but all other measurements were spot on. Following the extremely reliable curve ill be having a 7lb 7oz baby. As dh is 7ft (although I'm only 5ft 2) I was expecting a whopper!

Sultanajo · 01/11/2013 07:38

Ummmm, right, first things first... Book you don't just casually mention "spent the morning getting married" and then move the conversation on...! You say "Well....guess what ladies..... I GOT MARRIED THIS MORNING!!!" [WINK] I had to triple read your message to make sure I wasn't imagining what you had said. HUGE congratulations!!! What an amazing date to get married! Woop woop! [party popper emoction] Grin

flyaway OMG another useless boss! WTF is going on???

Tooth and MrsV great your measurements came out as they should. Don't panic about the large head MrsV. I have been told I will have an 8 or 9 pounder, but hoping they are wrong and he is more like 7!!! wishes she could follow her own advice about not panicking!

MrsG glad you are feeling better. Phew!

Percy I ONLY remember to squeeze when someone mentions it! Absolutely rubbish I am!!!

Welcome Gummi! Your name has just given me a craving for Haribo Gummi bears! Grin

Frizz bless your DH painting your nursery and surprising you! Awwwww!

No trick or treaters our way so far, but the guy delivering our Chinese last night thought he would be funny by hiding the food behind his back and saying "trick or treat". Then when I gave him the money he pretended to walk off saying "that's your trick and my treat"! [Rolls eyes emoction]

TFI Friday! Roll on 5pm!!!

Sultanajo · 01/11/2013 07:41

Oh and the lady who measured me at M & S for bras last time said to come in a few weeks before I am due to get measured for nursing bras. I can't imagine I will be in any sort of state to go to M & S at 38 weeks!

Do you know what they should do - start up a home measuring service for new mums!!!

TobyLerone · 01/11/2013 08:18

Just measure yourselves.

This is how to do it properly. Then order online. No Christmas/January sales fighting necessary!

MrsAVB · 01/11/2013 08:40

Welcome and congrats twinkle and gummi!
book congrats! Hope you had a fab day!
Boobs are such a nuisance... Sigh! Although I guess I'll be grateful for them if they provide free food for baby for a while!

BookTart · 01/11/2013 09:30

Cheers sultana! We only had four guests and I forgot to tell my dad so I'll need to do that today. Whoops!

I also fancied some gummi bears when I saw gummi's name, until I read the reviews on these Shock. Wish Id have them for the trick or treaters though mwahahaha!

TobyLerone · 01/11/2013 09:49

Did you get married in the registry office, book?

Spacefrog35 · 01/11/2013 09:57

Wow! Congratulations book awesome date Grin & I love the fact you forgot to tell your dad, nutter Wink

Hello newbies. Thanks

Sultanajo · 01/11/2013 09:59

Thanks Toby. I had tried measuring myself before and got it completely wrong each time Blush Will defo be trying again this time though!

Book OMG! One of the reviews cracked me up! RUN!!! Grin

BookTart · 01/11/2013 10:09

Yep toby in the horrible, ugly library. All done and dusted by 11am, perfect :) (although obviously a librarian getting married in a library is a bit tragic!)

Cheers space! Hope your MIL is behaving better now.

De-Halloweening the house this morning and then breakfast I think. What is everyone else up to today?

TobyLerone · 01/11/2013 10:15

We had to go there to do the pre-marriage malarkey. They could have at least tried to make it look a bit less...clinical.

Totally would have done the same as you, though, if it had been up to me :)

enjoyingscience · 01/11/2013 10:32

Congratulations book! Can't believe I missed that, sounds like a lovely, lovely day :) :)

AnotherStitchInTime · 01/11/2013 10:34

Congratulations book:)

Hello to all, welcome to more newbies :)

Still in hospital, starving as having GTT test for diabetes this morning. Had US scan, showed further problems with placenta so waiting for an MRI scan. Also have polydraminos (too much amniotic fluid around baby) and baby may possibly have a bowel obstruction so got to have another US scan in two weeks. Stressed and fed up now, they won't let me out until after the MRI and there is only one scanner in the hospital so long waiting list grrr.

Sorry for the moan, glad all is well with everyone. What did you all do for Halloween?

Sultanajo · 01/11/2013 10:49

Another really sorry you are having such a stressful time! Poor you! Not surprised you are fed up! Small consolation that they are at least thoroughly checking everything, but the waiting just drives you nuts doesn't it!

How can we cheer you up a bit? Well, I could tell you that while DH and I were chilling out on a double recliner at the spa on Monday, I grabbed his hand to feel bubs moving, and two seconds later I did the biggest fart EVER which reverberated through the recliner AND his hand on my tummy! OMG! Blush The look on his face was a picture! I was as surprised as he was as I hadn't felt it brewing at all! It just happened! I had NO CONTROL whatsoever! Wonder if that's a side effect of the haemorrhoid I discovered last week? Oh the glamour! Wink

MrsVDB · 01/11/2013 10:58

Oh dear another that can't be fun but at least they're checking everything

sultana that just made me chuckle and took my mind off the new stretch marks I've just found above my belly button

Sultanajo · 01/11/2013 11:25

Boo hiss stretch marks MrsV. So far mine are above my hips and one above my belly button. Could be so much worse so just hoping I am lucky and that's my lot....

extracrunchy · 01/11/2013 11:45

Another sorry you're having a crap time. Hope all's well on the scan. Brew

Sultana that just made me laugh out loud!

MrsV yes stretch marks just above belly button here too! Some will disappear back into the currently absent belly button though I hope...

Naturegirl82 · 01/11/2013 11:55

Another sorry your having so much stress. Have they said what the implications of the possible blockage maybe? I hope you get scanned soon, the waiting just makes it more stressful.

sultana that made me laugh out loud! Haha!

Hello everyone! It's been so long I haven't been on here, university degree and full time job are proving to be a bit much for me at the moment!

Plus dh and I have finally started getting a few things sorted (like preparing the house, moving furniture around) and have bought/received a few things by now. I got two big boxes of reusable nappies in the post yesterday, and couldn't take my eyes off them. It really made me realise that we will have a real, living baby in the house in less than 3 months. I still find the thought unbelievable sometimes!

Got a question about moses baskets: we got a hand-me-down one from a friend, and are planning to use that as baby's first bed. I've ordered a new mattress as the one it came with looked super thin and I didn't like it much. I also bought some mattress protectors and getting mattress sheets should be easy, too. But what about getting some paddings/covers for the basket itself? The one we have seems to have a "hood" option - can we buy just the material somewhere? Is it expensive? Our basket is a bit smaller than the usual size (69cm I think), so most materials might actually be too large? Any experienced moses basket users among us? Would love to hear your views. Do you actually NEED padding/material on the sides? And a hood?

MrsGSR · 01/11/2013 12:45

Flowers another, I hate waiting around, but as someone else said at least they're checking everything. We stayed in last night and watch Harry Potter, we've been watching one each evening as DH thinks he's not seen one of them but doesn't know which!

Frizz1986 · 01/11/2013 12:55

another sorry you are having a pants time. At least they are doing things to try and figure everything out. The waiting must be tough tho. Hopefully you will be first in the queue soon enough and can get some answers.

Lol sultana I tried a sneaky one in the kitchen at work whilst my curry was heating up. I thought it was my best chance as the curry would conceal any smells. Thankfully I think I got away with it! DH just makes a face at me when I do it at home as it seems to be all the time Blush

layluna I havent even got my borrowed moses basket out of the bin bag my sister gave it to us in so I am of no use to you. I don't even have a stand yet and am not sure if there is a decent mattress in the bag either.

TarkaTheOtter · 01/11/2013 13:05

I don't think the fabric is essential lalunya and it's really hard to replace unless it's a very standard size.
Probably cheaper to buy a 2nd hand basket with fabric inc anyway as the cheapest replacement covers I found when looking for dd's basket were £15-20.

Hope your having a big lunch now Another and your GTT comes back clear. Also hope the MRI provides some answers Thanks

Lalunya85 · 01/11/2013 13:30

tarka - that's the prices that I saw as well - pretty steep for a bit of fabric. I might just improvise something with bits of cloth... Thank you!

another - hope the results put your mind at rest a bit - at least you will know what's going on and the doctors will have a better idea of how to keep you and baby safe and happy! I went through a similar ordeal in the hospital a week ago - spent 7 hours waiting for different tests, with the word "cervical cancer" firmly in my head (gynecologist had scared me to death). I ended up bursting into tears in the middle of the corridor, crying my eyes out on the phone to dh. It can be really stressful. But at least it's Friday, and you can relax for the rest of the weekend. Brew

MrsAVB · 01/11/2013 13:37

lalunya we have the same issue, I bought a Moses basket from a charity shop, it has a hood and fabric edging which we've washed and is fine now. Mattress and sheets we've got from mothercare (they have 20% off bedding at the mo), but we were hoping you could buy a bundle in the same way you can for bigger cots, but haven't seen any anywhere.
another hope you have had your MRI, all is well and they let you out! Hospitals are very annoying sometimes...
