Does anyone know if once baby is engaged they can come back up and un-engage?? I should have asked the nurse...

Felt so much movement all over tummy today she hasnt stopped kicking.

clare8allthepies · 05/11/2013 13:27

Whisper hope your blanket comes up ok, I have bought needles and wool today to try to teach myself how to knit, will probably be a complete waste of time as I am the most ham fisted person ever!

My mum has finally booked tickets to come up and stay for when baby is due, shes not arriving until the day after due date so had better hope she stays put until then or I'll be giving birth on my own whilst DP looks after DD.

AngryByrd · 05/11/2013 13:29

Hi ladies!

So I felt really funny sunday night and ended up going to the mat ward where they found that olive (just her nick name, we won't be calling her that) and I had elevated heart beats. They watched us over night, she settled down; and then my bp shot up a little so they watched that; then my blood sugar was high for a bit because the breakfast options were not really too healthy to begin with (and I was in a very indulgent mood). Came home last night and I really wish I had this baby already.

this pg is just soo busy and painful. I have a few deeply religious friends on my FB so if and when I complain about pregnancy they really love going off on a rant about how lucky I am to be pregnant in the first place and stuff about not losing 'blessings' due to my 'complaining'. blagh.

Stom91 · 05/11/2013 13:40

feather the floating sounds awesome I really want to do it but I'm so scared of pools everytime I go I get a panic attack :( glad you got some peace abs quiet though.

chelsea I'm not sure if I'm honest hope someone can answer for you :)

angry I hate people that try and shove religion in your face. DP mum is a deacon and his uncle is a vicar his whole family are in the church but they don't shove it is your face which is nice. We've asked dps mum to christen dd which will be lovely. Dp and I aren't very religious we don't go to church and stuff. But we are both christened so be nice if dd was aswell. And with dp family being so religious most of his family will expect it.

Need to start ringing round the water electric etc and let them know we're moving and start packing boxes but my bed is just too warm lol

WhisperMen · 05/11/2013 14:02

clare check out youtube tutorials. It's what I did to teach myself. I found it was really frustrating at first but then it clicked and now it's simple. If you have any knitting questions feel free to PM me Smile

feather awesome news on the floating. I'm the same as Storm in that I am petrified of water Sad

angry glad you and baby are okay now. I hate overly religious people. If you want to be part of a religion then that is perfectly fine and I accept that. It doesn't mean you use it as an excuse to push it down everyone's throats every five seconds just because they don't believe in god.

Storm packing will keep you warm as you're moving about. Just set yourself goals of half an hour stints so at least you get a little bit done each day and don't have to have one massive packing frenzy day.

Stom91 · 05/11/2013 15:09

Yeah that's what I'm aiming to do whisper but now I have problems with the bloody tv licence! We've been paying it since we moved in in January and now they're saying our address and tv licence number doesn't match! No one will help me on the phone so I have to write a proxy email which they will take an age to reply to! Grr

AngryByrd · 05/11/2013 15:30

:) thank you whispermen and stom

i really missed the collegiate affection of this thread.

i think there is someone else on this thread that isn't feeling well--you know that thing in the back of your throat? the hangy thing? mine is itching.

Gannetgob · 05/11/2013 15:46

I've come for a quick moan. I haven't caught up, I will do later though.

My dad is in hospital. He's got blood clots in his lungs, he's finally in the best place after going to the doctor several times in the past couple of weeks. I've come in to see him and I have been told I can't because he's had some scan that means he can't be around pregnant people for a while. DH is sitting with him but I don't know anything about what the clots mean or what's going to happen now. I'm so frustrated. Just wanted to see him. Grrr.

AngryByrd · 05/11/2013 16:16

ganngetgob

sorry to hear that your father isn't well. did anyone explain how long this 'while' was going to be before you can see him?

Mogz · 05/11/2013 16:34

Aww Gannet that's hard, anyway you can sneak an iPad in to him so you can catch up with him on FaceTime? I hope he has a speedy recovery.

Chelsealady · 05/11/2013 17:12

Hope you get to see him soon gannet!

Gannetgob · 05/11/2013 17:31

Thanks all. Mogz, he has an iPad, I hadn't thought of that! Thanks :)

No Angry, they said they weren't sure. My mum is going to see him later, so she might be able to ask again and find out. DH said he seems fine though - he's got a clot in his leg, one in his shoulder and another in his lung. DH didn't ask him the 'right' questions though bless him, so I don't know what the treatment is or anything.

Anyhoo, I'm sure all will be good - he's in the right place and all that jazz.

Angry, your hospital visit sounds scary. Glad you are alright. I'm with you about wanting the baby to be born now! It won't be long now! Just try and take it easy!

Gosh, some people are having very busy days! You all need to spend more time sitting doing nothing!

ladymalfoy · 05/11/2013 17:32

Angry. Your uvula(sp)is itching? That's not nice. My soft palate itches when I get hay fever. Might it be an allergy thing?

WhisperMen · 05/11/2013 17:42

I've managed to clean the blanket. I am stupidly happy about this. It did mean unpicking the squares that I have already sewn together, but on the plus side the blanket is good as new. I am now going to store the squares somewhere DP can't spill stuff on it. I soaked them in washing powder and warm water and now my hands are itching like mad after having them in the soapy water. I have such stupid skin Sad

oh no gannet I hope you can go see him soon.

Kitten3 · 05/11/2013 17:54

Hello everyone! ?? have been following this and few other threads for ages. Just too lazy to create an account.
Every evening I sit down and read through the thread- it has become my evening ritual!
I am due a Cs on the 29th and am working/teaching right towards the end. Or that's the plan! Two and a half more weeks at work and then it's a mental rush to prepare for baby.
Lovely to hear of everyone's woes and troubles- sounds like everyone is taking it all within their stride. Good on you.

Stom91 · 05/11/2013 19:16

Yay whisper glad you got the stain out!

Welcome kitten

I hope your dad feels better soon gannet

Sorted and boxed all of babies clothes ready for the move today all bar the ones that are going in the hospital bag
After I sat down baby started kicking me in the ribs.

I'm due on the 21st but I dad reckons she will come on the first week in December. I really hope so I can't wait til 21st lol it's too far.

WhisperMen · 05/11/2013 19:55

welcome kitten

thanks storm I feel much happier about it now. I was so upset that I had done all this hard work just for it to be ruined.

I think I have morning sickness again. I can't seem to keep any meal down and have started to get the food aversions/smells making me sick again. It wasn't fun the first time round, now with a giant belly to contend with it's much worse. I can't wait for baby to be out. Does anyone know if you are suffering badly if hospitals will induce you early? DP seems to think they do, but I've never heard of it.

BohemianRaspberry · 05/11/2013 21:07

Hey ladies just trying to catch up

whisper I think if you are in tremendous pain they do sometimes induce early. One of my colleagues was induced at 38 wks - they think they misjudged her dates.

Last day at work today yaya Smile

violetbean · 05/11/2013 21:17

Hey kchapper, think it was you who asked about the health visitor? I had my visit last week and it was fine. She arrived 30 min late, but was very nice. She gave me a load of leaflets including one about SIDS and then ran through the risk factors for PND with me. She explained how the health visiting system works and roughly how many visits I should expect once the baby has arrived. I think it was good to have the opportunity to meet her before the birth, although I might have someone different next time as she was a student HV and is likely to be moving to a different area in January!

Hope yours goes well. Brew

Stom

OMG at TV LICENSE people! I had one turn up at my old house because I 'didn't have a license'. I did, I showed him the licence, an my bank statements showing the direct debits paying for it. In which time he came in and started messing with my TV and taking notes about what channel had been on last etc...

I asked him to leave - he proceeded to 'read my rights' and told me I had to sign a form before he would leave. He'd even written on the form 'no licence'. I refused to sign anything until he wrote that I did have a valid licence. He told me there was some kind of error with my licence and I needed to cancel it and buy another one straight away or I could go to prison. (I clearly come across as a dumbo!).

I wanted to shout at him, but to make things worse it was my DS's first week at school the following week and he did all this whilst my DS's new teacher and teaching assistant were there (they do home visits to meet the children before school here).

I was so embarrassed.

Turns out there was some cock up somewhere - ence the licence I had and the money I was paying weren't 'linked' to my address (despite being sent to my address) - also turned out that by 'cancelling and buying a new one' he'd have got his commission.

I did complain to them and got nowhere. I asked them to write to the school and apologise for embarrassing me - but apparently that was 'against data protection' - yet treating me like a criminal when I'm not is fine. Grrrr

Hate TV licence people

5ammy · 05/11/2013 21:32

Someone was asking about a sweep - I genuinely don't know if I've had one before, I've been induced before one with a pessary; and with the other waters broken and oxytocin drip... But not sure about having had a sweep - guess if I have it can't be that bad as I don't remember.

Consultant has put in my notes 'midwife sweep at 39 and 41 weeks'. Think I'm supposed to see the consultant again at 41 weeks - although not had an appointment through. I think I'd rather have a sweep then drugs personally.

whisper Ace bleach is great at getting stains out and really gentle. I (used to) have really heavy periods. I wasn't regular either and remember wearing white trousers one day and suddenly realising they were sodden with blood (was in town too) - I had to go to Debenhams and ask one of the staff to grab me some tracksuit bottoms whilst I hid in the toilet. I was going to throw out my lovely linen trousers. She suggested Ace bleach. They came out as good as new after a soaking in that and a wash.

5ammy · 05/11/2013 21:33

Although if DH spilt coke on anything he'd be the one getting stains out.

Same with the kids, although they're only allowed to eat and drink at the kitchen table. So no real spillage that damage things from them.

Stom91 · 05/11/2013 21:37

5ammy. I rang them to let them know I'm moving as it wouldn't let me log in online! And when I rang therapies that the tv licence number doesn't match the address they have.

We don't have a paper license as it was all done online. But we have been paying £12 a month since January. It's in my name. I don't know where it went wrong!
And they can't deal with it over the phone!
So I've had to email them! Urgh pain in the arse!

5ammy · 05/11/2013 21:56

This sounds like a similar story Stom- only I had the
Paper licence as it was few years ago...

They were still happily debuting the money from my account, despite them not having the account linked to my licence and my address. Absolutely none of it was my mess up at all. But I was mortified all this happened in front of my DS's new teacher, she must have thought I was some kind of insert appropriate word.

Stom91 · 05/11/2013 22:03

Yeah it's awful! They are so quick to judge but then won't apologise when they are wrong!
I need to cancel the account completely as our new place the license is included in the rent but until I find out what gone on I can't do anything!
It made me so angry!
