Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Chelsealady · 05/11/2013 23:06

Iv had the most awkward conversation with my little brother...so he's 8 and decided to walk in while i was applying my trusted bio oil, to his horror he had a complete melt down that my belly button is non existent and my tummy is really "fat and round". I had to explain its because the baby is growing inside me and then the melt down turns into the dreaded "how" question. I said ask mummy!

5 minutes later he came in and asked me if girls have bums?

PinkWitch803 · 05/11/2013 23:08

Chelsea that is so sweet of your little brother.

Mogz · 05/11/2013 23:32

I usually just lurk about here but I wanted to share the good news I got today, after a bloomin' tough time during this pregnancy I have today, at 36+1, been signed off of consultant led care and back to low risk! I can use the midwife lead birthing centre and splash about in the pool! Only a few weeks ago I was having to discus with my consultant about when they would want me in to perform the minor surgery of putting in a central line in case anything went wrong (I have tiny and weak veins), but I've turned my kidney and liver failure right around, avoided gestational diabetes and actually managed not to starve to death (thanks HG, that was fun) and all the other bundles of tests have come back showing such improvement that I'm in the clear! If the SPD wasn't still kicking about I'd be dancing Grin
Shameless waffling about self over now. Hope everyone else is doing ok and waddling onwards.

PinkWitch803 · 05/11/2013 23:40

Good stuff mogz. As I have had to big bleeds in this pregnancy, I have been told I have to have consultant led care, but reviewing it at my 36 week scan, so fingerscrossed I get the same good nnews as you.

Mogz · 05/11/2013 23:52

I will keep my fingers crossed for you Witch, it was such a huge relief to have the little bit of paper with a tick next to 'Discharge, no further appointments'. Just hoping all stays well for the next 4 weeks. No one warned me that pregnancy could be so scary and full of perils, I've got so much respect now for anyone who has even the smallest problems whilst pregnant as it can become an all consuming stress both physically and mentally.

Roselau · 06/11/2013 01:14

aaaaaaaggggggghhhhhh I need to vent

we just got a call from the moving company (we shipped our stuff from the UK to the US in early September), and they said that it was arriving at the port on Nov 22nd, but then it still needs to clear customs and get delivered which could take another few weeks. we're getting into holiday season with US Thanksgiving on the 28th so everything will be so slow. so our stuff may arrive after baby and that's just making me so upset.
I have baby things in there that she may not even be able to wear :(
I'm just sitting here crying like an idiot on my couch. it should really not affect me this much but aaaaaarg

BohemianRaspberry · 06/11/2013 05:29

5ammy your post got me so angry on your behalf! If you can be arsed write a letter to the head honchos about the poor treatment.

rose I would be crying too if I was you! Best wishes x

Well got my big chief MW appt today to see if I'm allowed to go MLU. Here's hoping that they say yes.

PinkWitch803 · 06/11/2013 07:07

bohemiam Good Luck

Rose I would be fuming. Did the removal company not anticipate this? Do you have any essential items in the cargo? Can you get them to prioritise your delivery?

clare8allthepies · 06/11/2013 07:18

Congratulations Mogz I've been stuck on the amber pathway for ages and finally got the go ahead from the consultant last week to go back to green and the MLU, it's such a relief isn't it?

Oh dear Rose I hope you get your stuff as quickly as possible.

Well today it's the magic 37 weeks and I'm full term Grin

Whilst I have had enough of being pregnant my mum isn't coming to stay until the 28th, the day after EDD so hoping she can stay put until then.

Molly28 · 06/11/2013 07:27

well done ladies with becoming midwife led! I'm consultant lead and haven't seen one my entire pregnancy the only reason I am is because I had a thyroid problem at 18 (nearly ten years ago) and tested positive for strep b at my smear 2 years ago. will speak to my rubbish midwife on Monday about it I think!

MildredH · 06/11/2013 07:44

Woohoo- must be odd feeling hitting the 'term' mark! I've got 3 days to go..

Molly- that seems like a loose reason to be consultant care? Have your thyroid blood tests been normal in pregnancy? I had a prev GBS swab in January and I've struggled to get mw to be interested! Only reason I'm pushing it is because I'd rather I get the antib's in labour if need be than baby have to be treated. My hosp will still allow me to go to the MLU with GBS tho..

Hope they find some common sense & let you too..

Alyssa1978 · 06/11/2013 07:59

Well I caved and had my flu jab yesterday, I've got cold anyway so hopefully no side affects.

stom that sucks about tv licence and 5ammy I'd have been fuming too, that was rediculous to have to go through.

Dp had some lovely fireworks last night for kids and fil and it was so sweet when one fell over he was pushing me through the door so I wouldn't get hurt Smile

Ds1 was telling the nurse who did my flu jab that there was a baby in my belly, my belly button was a door for him to come out and he looks out of there lol and when she asked about names, he still insists he's gonna be called jellybaby lol.
Well we have no name and he's due soon so he just may well be called that Grin

sweep can't remember who asked but I had one at around 38+5 ish last time, I didn't go into labour until my due date so I don't think it brought it on as it was over a week later but it didnt really bother me, nor do the internal checks when in labour, I just relax and it doesn't hurt.
Dp was freaked out however that much he didnt go to his night shift that night lol

With ds2 I had the oxytocin drip in the end which I did not like nor want again I went in at 3cm but contracting really hard and fast so they didn't send me home, checked me 4 hours later and I'd gone to 7cm Grin checked another 4 hours later and I'd gone to 8cm Confused everything just stopped after that and in the end I had to accept the drip but it just brought them on even faster and harder immediately and to top it off for 10 minutes the mw kept walking past me with my dia morphine injection like she was bloody torturing me lol and they were not gonna give it until the drip had kicked in this is the only time I rose my voice and shouted you've got to be friggin kidding me

Ds1 was pretty straight forward, just long Smile

Alyssa1978 · 06/11/2013 08:03

rose I really hope your tuff arrives before baby Hun

Welcome kitten

So glad the stains came out whisper think I'd have gone mad with dp lol

gannet hope your dad is better soon

angry hope you're feeling better too, I hate colds and its my ears that are constantly itchy inside.

Molly28 · 06/11/2013 08:44

Mildred yes blood tests have been normal (all two of them - the second I had to ask for!) its been rubbish really. I will be having a swab at 36wks (and will demand it if they get funny!) I'm the same as you though, now I'm a carrier I'd rather have the antib's to be on the safe side. just can't believe I've not seen a consultant. I don't want to go into labour and have them put rules on me!

kchapper5 · 06/11/2013 09:12

violet thanks so much, I'm glad you had a nice HV fingers crossed mine is too. The letter says she's here between 2 and half past so I'll probably be on major clean mode until then
clare that's amazing that your term already must feel brilliant
rose I think I'd be crying too, and then ringing up companies and shouting at them hope it all gets sorted
Well done everyone that's become midwife lead and welcome kitten

mumoftwoboysS · 06/11/2013 09:38

Talking of group b strep (GBS) is anyone sending off for the test? I did it with both my previous DC's-think you have to do it around 37 weeks. My midwife was very pro doing it as gave me loads of info, and since it's not a standard screening process it's up to the pregnant mum/mum to be to do it. I'm going to do it again tho it costs around £35

Think I'm getting the beginnings of SPD. Pain in pubic area last day or so ESP when I walk Sad

Also my bump is a really weird shape- sticking out really far like a ball! I'm very neat and all out in front but this just looks silly- not sure if it's because baby has changed position but no idea if head down or breech! Mw had better check at 34 wk apt next week as so far she hasn't.

Wow, so exciting some of you are now term or almost! So envious! School run is getting hard already I'm so slow and if hurts to walk...

13loki · 06/11/2013 10:20

rose we had our stuff collected in June and got it back at the end of August when we moved from England to Sweden. Hope your stuff comes through quickly for you.

mum From behind you can't tell I'm pregnant, my bump sticks straight out, and I've lost weight everywhere else (except boobs).

ganet Hope your dad is better soon and you get to see him

I'm trying to iron (but I am so achey standing up is difficult)and watching Swedish one born every minute. No water births here, no home births in my area, and there is another girl from work due in December who also doesn't speak swedish. I am getting woried that we will be in labour at the same time and she'll get the midwife with the best english because I speak a little swedish and have had a baby before and it's her first.

Alyssa1978 · 06/11/2013 10:43

mum I'm all bump, I don't seem to have put weight on anywhere else.
I had a dream the other night that you and me were on the bus and explaining to frouby and feather who we were on mumsnet, although we didnt have real names only our mumsnet ones lol.

Well I'm off today to go get measured at mothercare for some bf bras, I swear if they give me any shit again about waiting until 37 weeks to get measured as my bump will drop I'm gonna scream, bump can't drop anymore than it has or this baby is going to drop out.

froubylou · 06/11/2013 11:27

Lol alyssa. That's a pretty bizarre dream but I had that actually happen in real life. I used to go on a horsey forum and had someone come up to me at a pony show and ask if I was froubylou. They introduced themselves as Dimwit as that was there username. All sounded reasonable to me until I tried to explain to DP who doesn't do internet lol.

Rose I'd be pissed off too.

Mum I'm mainly bump too and that doesn't seem to change much sizewise but can go in different shapes depending on where he is. When he is transverse bump is high and round and like an egg. When he is head or feet down bump is more pillow shaped.

Really want him to have had a growth spurt when I go for scan on monday. And be head down lol.

I'm under consultant led care still and to be fair they have been quite proactive. Have seen a consultant at every appointment at hospital and will do until I have had him.

Alyssa try lots of different sizes. And maybe take breast pads with you to slip in and try. You need to be comfortable with those in and bigger boobs!

Go tighter around the back than what you need and buy some bra extenders from debenhams. That way when your ribcage shrinks you can go down a size or two.

Being a mean mummy today. DD is 9 and supposed to keep her own room tidy. Just been in and it's a shit hole so shut the door on it and she can get it sorted when she is in from school. Which means she will have to dust and hoover herself in there cos I'm doing the rest of the house today.

Upstairs done just trying to find the energy for downstairs now.

Perhaps a kitkat will help lol.

lisbapalea · 06/11/2013 12:39

I think kitkat's always help frouby - enjoy!

So tomorrow is my last day at work - woohoo! I am down in London for three days and stayed in a hotel last night and again tonight. I actually had a great night's sleep last night but weirdly feel more knackered than ever today!

So so excited about finishing up tomorrow. My personal diary is filling up though, but with really dull things like appointments with the dentist and optician.

I got a letter through the post asking me for an appointment with the anaethetist which is next Monday, so I am hoping this means that my not so nice midiwfe who I saw a couple of weeks ago, got over her own natural birth agenda and has set the wheels in motion for me to have the elcs that I have asked for.

Will be interesting to hear what the anaethetist has to say - am still taking dh along to the actual consultant appointment on the 21st so he can get shirty with them if necessary.

Does anyone know what will be involved with the anaethetist appointment?

Alyssa1978 · 06/11/2013 12:40

Lol frouby
Thanks for the advice, ill definately take it, I always forget about everything shrinking back lol.

Well I've had hormonal tears again, but idjust been in the shower and my hair was wet but kids were waiting for dinner before we went out so it would've been dry before we had gone anywhere.
Decided to give dp a hug and he replied with cant you blow dry your hair it's sopping wet and you remind me of can't say name but an old woman who used to come to the local pub with soaking hair and looking a mess

I feel like a fat ugly mess as it is without comments like that and my arse of an ex used to make comments like that if i hadn't dried my hair after going in the shower before bed time.

Worst thing was he actually laughed when I had tears in my eyes on my way upstairs to dry my hair.
Seems like a day can't go by when he hasn't got me in tears about something and hormones make it so much worse.

NomDeClavier · 06/11/2013 13:10

Mine involves a questionnaire about previous surgeries, any allergies to meds, checking spine for suitability for epidural/spinal and nose, mouth and throat for suitability for GA. They may not do the GA one on you but a spine check for me usually involves a 'hmmm' sound!

alyssa I'd cry at that when not pregnant! Tell your DH he's being a wanker and upsetting you.

mum I'm pretty much bump too. Think I've added a bit if fat on top of the bump but it's all localised!

I had a really worrying night last night. Baby just wasn't moving as much as usual and a few times I could feel absolutely nothing so I was panicking and working out what to do with DS do I could get monitored and then she went ballistic in there this morning so I had a crap night for nothing. Thankfully there's only a couple more nights where DH will be away and I won't have anyone staying left.

MW appt Friday combined with 'are you crazy?' assessment. Fingers crossed the psychologist is nice and supportive.

Stom91 · 06/11/2013 14:47

Wow trying to catch up. Lol
Just thought I'd pop in
Had a showe this mornig and half way through (while I still had conditioner in my hair) it stopped working!!! I was so angry effing And blinding. So had to get out full the basein up and do it with a jug filled it with hot water. Put the cold on and nothing can out! Thought great more swearing so has really hot water to take on my conditioner. Luckily I like my water hot. Anyway turns put the builders downstairs had turned the mains off and cos these flats where a shoddy convention there one one mains tap for the whole 3 flats! So he turned my water off!!! Lol can laugh about it now lol would only happen to me lol

Got the tv license sorted yay. Our has has 2 addresses and they had it under the other address.

Went to Brighton today to get bits for mine and bits hospital bag and away Sean lock! ( comedian on 8 out of 10 cats) lol well that my day lol

WhisperMen · 06/11/2013 15:50

well done on getting the tv licence sorted Storm bet that's a relief. Bit annoying with the water situation this morning though! Glad it's sorted now. Ooh I love sean lock. He's a rather funny guy.

alyssa I would have punched DP for saying that. call him a wankbadger Grin

mumI'm pretty much bump too. I have lost quite a bit of weight and so the belly is more noticeable.

I'm making jacket potato for dinner. It's been in the oven for 20 minutes already and is smelling lovely. I like to cook them for at least an hour and a half so the skin is all crispy but it's torture sitting here smelling it. Especially as now I never really want to eat anything recently. I just throw up whatever I eat so hoping just a potato with butter won't be too much for my tummy to handle.

three days in a row I have slept from 10pm till 9am. I seem to have remembered how to sleep again, just in time for it all to get messed up again in a few weeks time haha.

13loki · 06/11/2013 15:55

So today I have taken DD to the childminders, popped into the local shop for ingredients for dinner, made a lasagne, done a load of washing, ironed 4 shirts (It took an hour and a half, I can't stand for long) picked up DD, sorted the recycling, and picked up DS from school. It doesn't seem that much, but I am shattered. I also popped into work and had a chat with my maternity replacement.

DH is working late and won't be home for at least an hour and a half, usually he'd have been home by now :(

I am losing the will to live, I have watched so much Peppa Pig this week (although today during ironing I watched 2 episodes of Swedish one born every minute, which has taught me I can't speak Swedish)
