All I've done is book an appointment with my GP (earliest I could get was the 18th!), and bought pregnancy vitamins. Should I be doing something else as well?

MrsB2013 · 09/11/2013 17:07

Lauranne I've not got any sickness at all yet Ive just been tired and today my boobs feel a bit tender, but I don't feel pg at all! I'm 6+4.

Lauranne · 09/11/2013 17:12

Yes I feel similar MrsB. I know I'm being silly. I just can't help myself spiralling into this whole neurotic paranoid cycle x x

MrsB2013 · 09/11/2013 17:13

English that's all I've done, got a mw app on 25th. I'm taking the seven seas preg vits, I think as long as you take folic acid that's all you really need

MrsB2013 · 09/11/2013 17:15

I think I want a scan at around 8 weeks to make sure there's something actually there! I've done loads of tests so I know I am, but just don't feel it!!

englishteacher78 · 09/11/2013 17:17

My boobs and my nose are definitely telling me I'm pregnant. I've already gone up a cup size! But it still feels unreal and a little bit weird. This is my first so it's all so confusing.

jaykay987 · 09/11/2013 17:31

Hello English!! GrinGrinGrinGrinGrin

The only thing I can think of is checking the nhs things you can and can't eat.

MrsB2013 · 09/11/2013 17:32

There's a few of us on here having our first! I'm so glad I can come on here, as DH and I haven't told anyone yet, so no one in RL to talk to!

englishteacher78 · 09/11/2013 17:35

Oh, I have already checked the food list. No more dippy egg and soldiers or eating left over cake mix Sad

LadyGoneGaga · 09/11/2013 17:41

Actually as long as the eggs are lion marked, they are free from Salmonella and so you can still enjoy runny eggs. Smile

englishteacher78 · 09/11/2013 17:46

I'd read that it was still best to only eat fully cooked egg. But will check that out further. No point in boiling an egg if you can't dip a bit of toast into it (same goes for poaching and frying).

Littleangel21 · 09/11/2013 18:01

Hi ladies. I only just found out I am pregnant. Due 17 July.

I am currently experiencing extremely mild cramps- so mild that it might just be because I'm worrying so much. Has anyone had this?

Any tips?

Thanks so much xx

jaykay987 · 09/11/2013 19:39

Im all for a slightly runny egg! I make sure the white is properly cooked. But instead of poaching for 50secs pre BFP I now do closer to two minutes. Still yummy!

Yes - I have the cramps. Lots of things are moving around inside. I uses it's not too surprising really. Can be worrying though when it's your first and none us know what to expect! Grin

DoesMyBumpLookBigInThis · 09/11/2013 19:41

Good evening all!

I've read back a bit and as this is not my first, so I'm happy to answer some questions:

  • morning sickness - one of the things that hasn't been mentioned but might be helpful to fight it is taking Brewer's Yeast tablets. Basically it contains B vitamins which can reduce the nausea
  • period like cramps - most likely to be implantation pain, it can last for a few days and can be mild or intense
  • spotting - hopefully nothing more than implantation bleeding - again, it can be hardly noticable or even what looks like a proper period. very rarely women have periods all the way through their pregnancies, I actually knew someone who hadn't a clue that she was pregnant until they took her to hospital with suspected appendicitis! ShockSmile
  • eggs - I only ever heard the advice about eating them fully cooked too and personally wouldn't eat them runny, but if the lion stamps are supposed to be salmonella free then that's probably the safest one to eat.
I admit that very rarely I had eaten "forbidden foods", during all my pregnancies - maybe that explains them being noisy and messy? Grin

pearl fingers crossed for you, I hope you are taking it easy

Jaykay - yes, excellent news, very happy for you!

in other "news" I have been extremely tired the last few days and despite being a night owl I've gone to bed before 10pm and slept!
(unheard of, I normally got to bed/fall asleep on the sofa watching tv around 1am - 2am)
I have had a persistent headache also since yesterday - no Nurofen, so fought it with coffee.

sorry for long post, but I hope it's a helpful one

Pearlsaplenty · 09/11/2013 21:28

Welcome english and choccy!

Well I've still had no more bleeding, not sure if this is necessarily good as one way clots are resolved are through bleeding out. But they can also resolve by being reabsorbed by the body so I hope this is what is happening.

I have done some googling and have now put myself on complete pelvic rest and am also drinking lots if water as this is meant to help too.

How am I going to take it easy? Ds will be watching a lot if tv/DVDs, and I don't think and few weeks (or months) of this will harm him Hmm I will also take him to toddler groups a couple of times a week where I can just sit and watch. Also he has nursery 2 days a week, so I hope this will be enough stimulation. I think this will be the only way to keep him occupied without also creating lots of housework. Dp works away during the week at the moment so I need to also think about reducing housework as well.

Pearlsaplenty · 09/11/2013 21:30

I've also been having some periods of strong cramps/contractions. Will be asking my gp about these on Monday when she calls.

duvetfan · 09/11/2013 22:27

Hi
Congratulations everyone. Just found out ( I have a looooooong cycle) due approx 12th. This is my second and not having too many symptoms but then I didn't last time either. I mc before DS so bit apprehensive this time as well.
Good luck ladies.
Smile

LazyDogJumpedOver · 09/11/2013 23:12

Hi, my period was due today but since we've been trying for a few months I couldn't wait and took a test on Wednesday and Friday and Saturday and they were positive! :) Due on July 17th 2014... how far away is that?!?

The digital test says 2-3 weeks but cause I've been recording my periods I know I'm 4 weeks pregnant... though is it saying how much you are actually pregnant and ignoring those 2 pretend weeks that don't count??

This is our second, we have an 18 month old boy. Have completely forgotten what it's like to be pregnant. I've booked my booking in appointment for 25th November. Very excited!!

4 weeks + 2 days

grobagsforever · 09/11/2013 23:22

Waves to choocy and English from the bus! Yay! I'm totally eating runny eggs this time round, it's fine as long as they are lion stamped. Tiredness and occasional nausea here.

LemonLovely · 10/11/2013 07:43

Someone just told me about this group so joining in as due 12th July, with my first!! Still feels surreal to even type that!!

jaykay987 · 10/11/2013 07:58

Hello! Nice to see the bus filling up.

It still doesn't feel real to me and Ive done millions of tests I've known for three weeks.

I think it's because we haven't told anyone ignoring the chiropractor, gp, midwive, fmc

Our scan pushed me back a week so it feels a bit weird at the moment. Still can't believe I ovulated cd24 - that's so late even for me!

Next things to look forward to are:
Booking in 22nd Nov
10+3 scan 10th Dec
12+3 nuchal scan and harmony results 24th Dec.

Roll on Christmas! GrinGrinGrin

6w+2

LemonLovely · 10/11/2013 08:05

We are still in shock! Married in Aug, had one period after coming off the pill, then pregnant! (Have PCOS so expected it to take ages!). Keep reading how common MCs are and freaking out a bit though. We have only told my mum, and will be waiting until after 12-week scan to tell everyone else.

JayKay987: can I ask what 10 weeks scan is?

No morning sickness yet, but have had insomnia all week. Anyone have tips for that?

jaykay987 · 10/11/2013 08:09

Hi lemon. Im getting 10week scan as Im having harmony at fmc and as part of their research they use ultrasound to date you the day they take bloods. So it's not a standard scan.

Ipsumlorem · 10/11/2013 08:19

Hi everyone! Smile

Feel a bit sick this morning (feels like the beginning of a hangover lol!). Am wondering is this the beginning of morning sickness Sad My mum helpfully told me she puked the whole time from about 6 weeks with me so I hope that isn't the case with me (though my tummy is normally easily upset so I suspect it may be the case!).

lemon I've found my sleep pattern has shifted to sleeping and waking much earlier - I can sleep but I can't stay asleep in the morning iykwim?

Choccywoccydodah · 10/11/2013 08:29

Anyone know if super drug/ boots sell pregnacare tabs in the shops?
I ordered mine online from vitabiotics last time but going away tomorrow til Friday so need them like today!
They're online at superdrug, just not sure if in the shop.

Waves at grobags Grin

Runny eggs, I love runny eggs, but I avoided them last time (but I gave in to cake mix at about 7 months!)
