Choccy

I know Tesco sells them if that's any help. typically open 10am-4pm

I'm pretty sure Boots has them too (don't know about superdrugs)

come to think of it I'm fairly sure most big supermarkets will stock them, I've definitely seen them in Sainsbury's

where are you going? [nosy]

I'm feeling slightly nauseous this morning, 0.5 out of 10 on the "sickness scale".
only 5 weeks tomorrow. oh boy!

Littleangel21 · 10/11/2013 09:03

Morning all.

I have woken up feeling slightly ill. Not properly sick but not right. My boobs are really sore and I'm anxious about getting back to work knowing that I cannot tell them. But feel ill need to give some explanation as to why I'm not firing on all cylinders! Have you all kept quiet at work?

Re vitamins, I'm currently only taking folic acid and iron (I'm vegetarian). Should I be taking anything else?

I'm 4weeks 4 days.

Thanks so much x

DoesMyBumpLookBigInThis · 10/11/2013 09:09

angel

maybe best to ask your GP or even better, a nutritionist.

If I'm correct vegetarians cannot get sufficient amounts of the B vitamins group through their diet so perhaps a B -vit complex is a good idea. as I said earlier Brewers Yeast contains them and is also a good way to fight nausea for some.

do ask a pharmacist though

also check out the Floradix range, you might find something suitable.

Littleangel21 · 10/11/2013 09:13

Thanks so much for that advice. I'll look into that today! Grin

jaykay987 · 10/11/2013 09:17

Little. - Ive found work hard. Lots of people tell early - but personally I dont want o tell work before my nearest ad dearest! Depending on when I start to show.....Im actually hoping to not tell work until as close to 20w as I can get away with (I am trying to delay the adverse impact on my career that will inevitably follow...)

It's been hard the past two weeks. Im exhausted, so keep running to toilet to shut my eyes for thirty seconds! Half my team think Im fighting off an impending lurgy (though that excuse will run out of steam soon!) the other haven't noticed yet, or probably think Im incontinent! Grin

Choccywoccydodah · 10/11/2013 09:22

Thanks doesmybump! Going out shortly so will go on the hunt!
Don't worry about being nosey ha ha!
We've booked to go to bluestones in Wales (like centre parcs). We lived nearby for 3 years up til last July, and ds was born there, so will be nice to have a few days away. It's about 3.5 hours from where we are now.
Wish we hadn't booked it to a point though as we are in the process of moving and planning to move by mid dec, but we got told last week we can move anytime after 20th November! So now we're moving 2 weeks tomorrow which only leaves just over a week to pack! We'd only booked this break 2 days before!
We're letting ours out though so at least we have a few weeks grace to move fully Grin

Littleangel21 · 10/11/2013 09:27

Haha jaykay! I'm sure it's the male members that haven't noticed.

Given the job I'm in, and the stage I'm at, this news is not going to go down well at all. I know I should only be worrying about the baby but I'm going to find it hard to keep this to myself, especially when have reviews etc. I plan to wait until after Xmas break and avoid all the social events leading up to then. I've already planned to say I'm on antibiotics to avoid the booze. It's going to be difficult to bluff, though.

Thanks for your advice and hopefully you colleagues just pitty us for having the 2 months long lurgy. Although, again, pitty isn't great in my job either!

Xx

englishteacher78 · 10/11/2013 09:27

Not openly telling everyone at work (just Head and cover manager at the moment). We have a lot of students who tend to panic and there's no need as I should be absolutely fine to teach up to study leave (in May). DH doesn't want to tell anyone yet, he's very nervous about the whole thing. Had to poas again last night to reassure him. He didn't know that the tests are as good as anything they can do in a doctors. He's just gone away until Friday with work - little sad. His last words were 'be careful, I love you'.

grobagsforever · 10/11/2013 09:46

Morning all! I am a vegitarian and this is DC2 and I can confirm no extra supplements are needed beyond a standard preg One containing iron and folic acid and vitamin D. I am on boots. My iron levels were excellent throughout my first pg and DD was a a very healthy 8 pound 12. Veggie diets are v healthy and low levels of toxcity from no.red meat is v good for us!

I'm not telling work until 14/15 weeks as have New director and want dust to settle first. Loose tops and many creative non drinking excuses will be needed!!

Sparky321 · 10/11/2013 09:50

Hi all, congratulations on your bfps. I found out tues (thanks to those that confirmed I did have 2 lines), however since Monday night I've had this wind/pressure feeling on my left hand side, saw my Dr Friday as I thought I had a bladder infection, She is sending me to the early pregnacy unit in Monday to check for ectopic. Has anybody else had this type of niggle? Really need some hand holding. I'm 4w+4

AuntieMaggie · 10/11/2013 09:57

Morning ladies :)

Can someone add me to the list please as I'm on my phone.

I am 6 weeks pregnant due on 6 July and this is my first. No symptoms other than a little cramping and tender boobs. I feel better than I have in ages but that may be because I have pcos which makes me feel crap in various ways.

DP is due to go abroad for a sport event from 1-4 July so not really sure what to do about that! He's really excited and wants to tell everyone but I'm feeling a bit cautious and want to get the scan done before we tell anyone. I'm excited too but worrying about practicalities (childcare, work, etc) and actually being pregnant and giving birth. If I'm honest I'm scared shitless! Being able to get pregnant was a big step as I have various medical complications so I focussed on that til now and now I don't really know what to do.

Littleangel21 · 10/11/2013 09:57

Thanks gro. I'll just carry on with iron and folic. It's such a horrible thought telling work! I just know that they'll be thinking "what an idiot for throwing this opportunity away". Just got to think of my baby which us far more important.

Sparky- I have had lots of UTIs in my life and sometimes they do just feel like they are on one side, so don't worry too much. I'm sure everything is ok. I am also 4weeks and4 days! X

Pearlsaplenty · 10/11/2013 09:59

I was veggie when pregnant with ds and he was very healthy. Just took pregnancy vitamins and then changed to florodix in the last few months. Also made sure I had some sort of protein with every meal.

My iron levels were excellent and although I lost a lot of blood during his birth I managed to restock my iron levels when I had them checked at my 6 week check. (The hospital prescribed me iron supplements).

Littleangel21 · 10/11/2013 10:02

Hi Maggie!

I am new to this list too and don't think I'm on the complication.

Congratulations, I, too, am scared sh*%less. It's very exciting though.

X

Littleangel21 · 10/11/2013 10:04

Thanks pearl. Good to know that veggies can have a healthy pregnancy x

Pearlsaplenty · 10/11/2013 10:07

sparky I had issues early on re bleeding, and I remember my gp saying that ectopic doesn't really cause big issues if it is picked up early on, so it is good that you are being referred now. The big problems come if it is not detected early and it keeps growing in the wrong place. Fingers crossed it is all ok.

Fiveleaves · 10/11/2013 10:11

Seems other people are stressing about telling work too. I am incredibly stressed! I am a project manager and started a new job in early September initially on a 5 month trial to be extended if it goes well. It would be extended from beginning of March. Scan will be late dec.

Went on maternity calculator and I have to be in work until early march at least to qualify for mat pay or mat allowance. We can't afford not to have mat pay as DP self employed and a bit short of work at the mo.

So, when to tell work?! Preg wasn't exactly planned to be so soon after starting new job but I really don't want to piss new job off as they are really nice and despite awful morning sickness I'm getting on well with it...should I tell them after 20 week scan in feb, presuming they keep me on after trial (can't see why they wouldn't...) if they don't keep me on, I will have to find a job when 5 months pregnant which basically won't happen....

Fiveleaves · 10/11/2013 10:14

To be clear, worry is that if I tell work after 12 week scan they may not keep me on beyond end of feb which they can sort of get away with as contract is until end of feb though with a view to being extended...that means, after 20 years of full time work, no mat pay just as I need it....

Littleangel21 · 10/11/2013 10:19

Hi fiveleaves.

Is it a fixed term contract or are you "contracting"? I.e. Are you an employee for a fixed time or self employed? There is a subtle difference but consequences for discrimination due to pregnancy that your employers will be very aware of.

Sparky321 - whats your due date and I'll update it on the list for you

Sparky321 · 10/11/2013 10:32

14th July thanks for updating the list x

Fiveleaves · 10/11/2013 10:33

Littleangel it's a fixed term contract. I'm employed by them but initially for 5 months with a view to extending based on performance. A bit like a probationary period I guess except the 5 month contract is itself the probationary period IYSWIM...

Littleangel21 · 10/11/2013 10:39

Fiveleaves, given that you're an employee you are protected. If they did not extend the ft contract due to you being pregnant (and not due to performance. Which it sounds isn't a problem) then it could be unfair dismissal. You should discuss with HR.

Thanks for updating the list MrsB x

Fiveleaves · 10/11/2013 10:46

Thanks littleangel. I think I will tell them at the latest opportunity when they have, hopefully, already extended. Not sure why I feel guilty for being pregnant and in work in this day and age!
