Morning everyone! Grin at thistle - good luck today x

I went for my 12 week scan on Monday - quite early at 10+2 - and baby RRRabbit is doing really well! I saw the heartbeat - it was magical Grin

S/he only just measured large enough for the NT measurement - the sonographer mentioned coming back next week but baby must have stretched and she got the measurement 'just in time' (boo!) In fact, she changed my EDD to the 3rd of May rather than the 10th, which makes me 11+ rather than 10+.

DH and DC1 came in then and baby RRRabbit decided to put in a performance and started to bounce about and wave to us - cue lots of laughter and a scan picture of baby waving to us (picture on my profile now). We've stuck the picture on the fridge so DC1 can wave whenever we go past baby - so cute!

So we can start making announcements a week sooner - very excited now! Smile

Lime+4 today.

PixieBumbles · 16/10/2013 09:11

banana my BMI is 32. My midwife wasn't concerned about it, she just said we'd need to keep on top of my blood tests as my BMI puts me at a higher risk of gestational diabetes. I asked her if there were any other concerns about my weight and she said no, she's had patients far bigger than me with perfectly healthy pregnancies and births.

I had my booking appointment at 6 weeks and got my scan date through just a few days later. Scan's on Monday! So nervous and excited. I've booked the whole day off work so DH and I can take the opportunity to have a rare day off together.

11+4 Grin

moominleigh94 · 16/10/2013 09:16

Aww yay for happy scans and upcoming scans Grin

I wish I could take tomorrow off Sad I've got rehearsal from 9am, leaving rehearsal at 10 past 11, scan at 11:40, then as soon as that's finished, back to uni for an assessment - roleplaying as patients for trainee GPs learning how to communicate with and deal with a wide variety of patients :) We're being assessed and so are they Shock

So not a stressful day at all.

FrightFlea · 16/10/2013 10:09

The Finnish system here check anyone with a bmi of over 25 for gestational diabetes later in the pregnancy. I have a bmi of 26 right now so i guess i'll get caught for it this time.

Great news about your scan Jessica

Moomin your course sounds really interesting.

Spirael · 16/10/2013 11:05

Morning all! Congrats on your scan Jessica and hope all is good today at your scan Thistle! :) I've got another two weeks to wait before my private scan and goodness knows how long until the NHS one.

I was measured at 26 BMI at my booking in, but I'm pretty sure their scales were being kind to me as I'm normally nearer 30 than that. I've got to do the GTT though as there is now diabetes in my immediate family. Didn't need to do one last time, so I'm not sure what to expect. Can anyone provide a rundown?

Still struggling through MS here. I was able to WFH for the last couple of days which helped enormously, but I'm back in the office today. At least I can WFH on Friday and my parents are over then and for the weekend. They're lovely and I'm sure my DM will take over running the house for a few days to give me and my currently a bit stressed out DH a break. :)

Hope your assessment goes well and have fun traumatising some GPs, Moomin! I love roleplaying, I partake in the geeky version with pen, paper and dice with friends regularly. When I'm not doing that, I'm normally on the PS3. Wink [geek]

moominleigh94 · 16/10/2013 11:41

Thanks Spirael Grin I'm playing a heroin, diazepam and cannabis addict... think it's going to be a challenge but I'm really looking forwards to it. I was a PS3 geek but since moving to uni OH brought his Xbox 360 up with him, so I'm a bit of GTA 5 lover Grin

I've got to have something to do with gestational diabetes because my mum had it when she was pregnant.. is that the GTT thing? What is it? Blood tests?

rebeccax2 · 16/10/2013 11:41

Good luck for everyone having scans today! I hope you all get thunderous heartbeats and healthy little plums.

x

snoozysleeper · 16/10/2013 11:52

moomin GTT= glucose tolerance test, it is a blood test and is used for helping diagnose gestational diabetes. Hth.

moominleigh94 · 16/10/2013 12:19

Thanks snoozy :)

My baby is the size of a lime Grin and its making me feel very poorly today. Headaches and sickness galore Sad
All worth it if it's healthy though :)

dobedobedo · 16/10/2013 12:33

Argh my work is a shower of bastards!

I was sent home on Monday for constantly puking. AND I wasn't allowed home all last week despite the constant puking, high temperature and bad cold/cough.

They've just told me today they aren't paying me for Monday. What a bunch of cunts! I know they don't legally have to, but the amount of times I stay in the office until night time, or the times I've come into the office on a bank holiday or Sunday to bail them out or get them some new business! I don't get extra for that yet they sent me home and they won't pay me for one fucking tiny day?!
The amount of new business I've got for them, or the money I've saved is ridiculous. I'm never going above and beyond for them again.

This next five and a half months can't go quick enough!

Sorry for the rant. Feel slightly better.

snoozysleeper · 16/10/2013 12:39

That sounds terrible dobe Shock

Do you have a union you can speak to?

I thought, obviously wrongly, that everyone was entitled to paid sick leave (on the proviso you don't go above the upper limit of 'allowed' sick leave)

moominleigh94 · 16/10/2013 12:47

That sounds awful dobe. Don't know enough to offer any advice but you have my support :)

I've realised today that I want this baby to have OH's last name... but I want to have the same last name as my baby too. They really don't sound right at all when double-barelled, so that's not really an option... but I don't know what to do. Think my side of the family would be furious if we got married in the next few months, plus I have all my dream wedding plans and I was thinking go rock and roll with jeans and t-shirt wedding, and then big white renewal of vows a few years down the line, but not sure they'd approve.

Or I change my name by deed poll. Or is that too far and am I being stupid to be fussed over surnames?

dobedobedo · 16/10/2013 12:47

I thought the same snoozy. It seems my company would screw anyone over for a quid.

dobedobedo · 16/10/2013 13:00

I'm going to sign up for EVERY SINGLE antenatal class, group, whatever going. 2 hours paid plus travel time. How'd you like them apples?! Grrr.

bluestone85 · 16/10/2013 13:03

Just had my booking appointment. Midwife was lovely :) Lots of form filling, blood taking etc. I was suprised that she didn't even feel my stomach though. Good thing is she didnt seem too concerned about the bleeding I had and is just sending my details to the hospital, so hopefully I get to have my scan soon!

My BMI is 34 apparently... so got to take extra folic acid and be referred to clinic to check everything and also have a GTT. xx

Spirael · 16/10/2013 13:05

Ooh, that sounds fascinating, Moomin! :) It's a really interesting challenge to try and get into the head of someone in troubled circumstances, though it can be so difficult to do well. Good luck!

I did have an XBox 360, but it cooked itself. I jumped ship then to PS3. I'm more of an RPG fan, currently playing the Kingdom Hearts 1 re-release. Very happy to hear Kingdom Hearts 2 is being re-released as well next year. That gives me something to do on maternity leave. Wink

Far as I understand the Glucose Tolerance Test basically is testing how well your body reacts to being overloaded with sugar. From what I've been told, you have to fast from the night before and then head into hospital where they feed you a sickly sugary solution on an empty stomach.

They then test your blood repeatedly over the next few hours until the blood sugar level gets back to normal. That then indicates how well you handle sugar and gives an indication of whether diabetes is a problem.

Disclaimer, I've not had it done before and all my info is second hand. So I've no idea if it's accurate or not! Hopefully someone will come along shortly who has had a GTT before. :)

NannyPlumForPM · 16/10/2013 13:36

Take them for all they've got got dobedobedo

Squiffie · 16/10/2013 13:56

Just back from a weeks holiday in Gran Canaria and am now an expert at standing in an aeroplane loo to puke! Seems a 3:30 am transfer, 4 hr flight and a pregnant me don't make for a great combination!

Have I missed anything important as 20 something pages is just too much to catch up on?!

10 weeks today!

dobedobedo · 16/10/2013 14:24

Gran Canaria? Niiiiiice! Not jealous at all! Envy ;-)

thistlelicker · 16/10/2013 15:00

All booked!!! All official now. No,scan I having nuchal scan next week instead

moominleigh94 · 16/10/2013 15:15

Ooh very nice Squiffie

Whoever said it's morning sickness should be shot; it's all day sickness and it's made a comeback. Can't keep anything down, I feel so rough. Hoping it clears up by swimming tonight, I feel so relaxed and floaty in the water. If this baby isn't healthy and punching my insides tomorrow I'll be well and truly fumming Wink

moobaloo · 16/10/2013 15:43

After weeks of nausea I threw up today Grin feel slightly oddly proud Hmm
Am having my parents over for a random midweek roast dinner but am worried about not drinking! I'm a massive wine fan and would always present a nice bottle of red with roast beef... but I can't and they don't know I'm upduffed yet!! ahh trivial worries have become very important to me

Loving everyone's scan pictures - it's so exciting!! I want a piccie! Booking in appt. next week and hopefully not too long until scan from then... 8+3 today Grin

McBaby · 16/10/2013 16:00

Gtt is fine no food for 12 hours, blood test, drink sugary drink, wait sitting down in hospital for two hours (nest to canteen while v hungry) then treat bloods and sent home.

mumof2aimingfor4 · 16/10/2013 16:42

Squiffie Gran Canaria is my 2nd home, we're going back for xmas and new year. Did you like the island? Please tell me you visited puerto Mogan?
You've missed a few bits as some ladies have had sad sad news which is devastating as although everyone on here is a screen name personalities show and it feels as though a close friend is going through torture every time.

mumof2aimingfor4 · 16/10/2013 16:48

moobaloo say you have already been drinking before they arrived as you've had a stressful day so you dont want to drink any more with dinner.
