MoN if I could reach through the Internet and slap that cleaner silly, I would. What a horrible thing to say. I hope karma bites her hard on the arse.

Another 13ther here, but I shall definitely be jumping the cue as its 5 days til my section now! Getting rather excited (and terrified of course) and the days are really starting to drag!

Hello Emalou! How are u getting on?

Sorry you are back in pseudo. Hope your bp calms down.

Livened · 04/10/2013 15:21

MoN I cannot believe how some bloody jobs worths feel they can say whatever they like to others! Hope you get to see your beautiful little one this afternoon and don't give a second thought to anyone other than you and yours right now. Have you got a good electric pump (I used a medela one last time for expressing) which might help your supply to come in? Hopefully the midwives are being more helpful than the cleaning staff! X

MotherOfNations · 04/10/2013 15:28

I didn't want to out out the money on a pump as I was scared of failing again. I just tried to hand express again and got absolutely nothing. Not a single drop. I don't understand because I was able to get some before she was born.

MrsHoratioNelson · 04/10/2013 15:36

MoN don't be so hard on yourself - don't forget a c section, not to mention all the stress and emotional upheaval you have been through, will do funny things to your hormones so it would hardly be surprising if that was resulting in a slight delay to your milk.

Could someone add me to the stats sheet?

Thanks.

Good luck everyone in labour!

Mon, don't be down - these things can take a few days. And if it is not possible at all, put it at the back of your mind and don't worry. You've been inspirationally chillaxed given what you've had to go through this pregnancy, and all that would definitely have been beneficial for Eliana. Milk is just a tiny part of what you have done and will do for her.

As for that cleaner... Angry

Pseudo - thanks for the link to the grapefruit/drugs info!

My DP can be obsessed with his screens. I have explained that watching TV together is a shared experience - if one of us is staring at something else then it's not the same. Nowdays we ask each other if it's okay before we watch a programme/film with the ipad/laptop open. (Although him checking his phone in bed is still reallllly annoying!)

legallyblond · 04/10/2013 15:51

MoN - so sorry about the nasty cleaner. I hate it when random grumpy idiots cause tears. So unecessary... Hour you're with E right now x x

Flyer - is my DH your DP? He's setting up a new business that has been really taking off. Until now, he's been a SAHD during the day and DH the evening has been his "work" time. I worked full time in a relatively stressful job and was away at least one night a week in our firm's London office or Channel Islands / Geneva etc, so I loved pottering and doing "house jobs" having got DD to bed (my pleasure and responsibility if home). Now, I am responsible for the children and house in the day, so DH could should work during the day and we could have an evening once dd us in bed, albeit I'll be breast feeding. But no. He farts around and goes to the gym etc, them still spends all eve working Confused on the latest new idea....

Nat - hope monitoring was/is fine...

Patience to everyone waiting... Don't worry, that baby is fed coming!!

Livened · 04/10/2013 15:52

The hospital should have pumps to hire/borrow for just these circumstances. I hope they are giving you the support you need and deserve? I remember they reckon the most nourishing milk is that first expressed in the morning, and also maybe try again after a warm shower or bath which can help with the flow? My best friends baby was born with a soft palate problem which meant he couldn't breastfeed. She managed to get a supply going a couple of weeks after birth so don't lose faith. Everyone thinks breastfeeding/expressing is going to be such a natural and therefore easy thing to do. I know I did anyway, but ts so hard! I certainly won't feel guilty if I can't get it established with this baby, as my toddler (who only had 9 weeks on the boob) is perfectly healthy and now driving me mad at 20 months old! X

legallyblond · 04/10/2013 15:56

And MoN, it's still v early days re expressing. I literally only ever got a ml at a time in a syringe. Your milk will come in and then you'll have plenty. Babies drink and need very very little in the first 48 hours. Hospitals I know try to get a lot of fluid foen them... Valentina was given practically litres of formula till my milk came in, but in fact it's v normal for them to take / your body to make v little in that initial time. Panic not and just keep trying and wait and see what happens over the next few days x x x

Natalieand · 04/10/2013 16:04

Thanks for the concern ladies, they weren't satisfied by babies movements on monitor but were happy with his heart rate so decided to so a scan to check the placenta and cord and were happy with that estimated weight ATM @ 38+4 is 7lb 4oz and sent me home saying that scan now covers seven days worth of reduced movement and only to come back if I have bleeding or extreme pain. I effing well hate the staff at my day assesment they r so rude un sympathetic towards me.

MoN thst cleaner should be known better than to ask a woman on a maternity ward without a baby why she doesn't have a baby and is definately not in a position too be passing comments and judgements like that!!! I hope u enjoy your time with Eliana this afternoon and find out some re assuring news

congrats roofio Grin and good luck to chickieo and everyone else SWIL

To those discussing dp/dh evening habits - dh is addicted to the iPad/iPhone in the evening and if I talk a lot about my day all I get is 'I'm just trying to do something' or 'tell me in a minute' fortunately I get most choice on the tele though not All

legallyblond · 04/10/2013 16:17

Umlauf - let us know how you and Beetie are when you get a mo... Hope you're both well x x x

legallyblond · 04/10/2013 16:17

Sorry - Bertie!

Flyer747 · 04/10/2013 16:19

Legally I feel your pain with DH/DP business ventures. He is so engrossed in this new business (it's setting up a recruitment firm hiring lawyers to work in the sustainability sector) that he came to bed at wait for it.......6am this morning!!!

The worst part is he is now at the gp's about his blood pressure. Yesterday he had a 24 hr bp monitor fitted to him (he has high bp so DR said the best thing was to have one of these monitors on so they can look at the overall picture) he went back to the hospital today at 1pm to get it taken off, 3pm a call from gp surgery to ask him to come in today as the readings are off the scale, highest was 210/137! It's work I swear that's causing this...

Mon what a bitch of a cleaner of have probably slapped her hard, interfering cow!

Flyer747 · 04/10/2013 16:24

Dp just called he has been admitted to hospital for testing Sad

legallyblond · 04/10/2013 16:25

I know Flyer. And I love that its going well and I love the sentiment behind it all (takes the pressure off me, the breadwinner, to constantly excel in / progress in my career - a redp

legallyblond · 04/10/2013 16:26

Grrr - a responsibility I'm happy to bear and I expressly agreed to bear so that DH could stop being a trader (crazy pressure), but a resp

legallyblond · 04/10/2013 16:27

Seriously?!?! - a responsibility nonetheless... BUT, I would also like the working day to be confined to just that. A working day....

ananikifo · 04/10/2013 16:29

Aw flyer I hope he's ok.

MoN I just want to echo others about that horrible hospital cleaner. You'd think they would know to show more sensitivity to mums separated from their babies.

legallyblond · 04/10/2013 16:29

Hope your DP is ok Flyer x x

cazboldy · 04/10/2013 16:48

Congrats roofio

Good Luck chickie

mon hope you have had been to see Eliana.

Flyer hope dp is ok xx

My boys and dh have just left for the weekend Sad - feeling far more emotional than I thought i would. Sad

PseudoBadger · 04/10/2013 16:51

Nat "sent me home saying that scan now covers seven days worth of reduced movement and only to come back if I have bleeding or extreme pain"

That is the most irresponsible and outrageous advice. Please ignore it.

legallyblond · 04/10/2013 16:55

Agreed Nat. This just is not right....

diege · 04/10/2013 17:00

Hello! Mon I am so cross on your behalf with the cleaner's comments Angry. Is the doctor going to speak to her?
I have a section date now - 14th October. Consultant scanned again and no chance of even a trial of labour, just too risky (placenta praevia). Feeling a little better now that I have a date.
Good to read of all the imminent babies/those just born - very exciting logging in each day!

JellyCurls · 04/10/2013 17:07

Can't keep up at all, shitty phone reception in hospital.

MoN trip cleaner up next time you see her or walk on her clean floor with dirty boots. Hope your little girl is doing well, staff at Yorkhill are super.

Congrats on any new babies born and good luck to those in labour.

I am shocked at how sore C section recovery is. I have terrible wind pains and I am phobic about burping I knowi am a nutter. I am supposed to be getting home tomorrow but The still nameless JellyBaby has failed his paediatric check. They need to do an ECG when he is calm so not managed it yet so I might be here till Monday.

Happy weekend to everyone else on the bus x

roofio87 · 04/10/2013 17:19

I'm honestly not even sure if I've posted on here already!! haha. but Hunter Ronald was born this morning at 11 04, only 11 hours after being induced. he weighs 8lb 1oz and is perfect. will update with birth story later!!
