Shiny new thread, ladies :)

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Jolleigh · 08/10/2013 14:44

0 calories Lyra - I've made tge executive decision that, at least for slim ladies, calories don't exist during pregnancy.

Admittedly, that means they do exist for me...but as I'm a chubster, I've done my fair share of ignoring calorie content anyway!

FoxMulder · 08/10/2013 14:53

Jol what a disappointing MW appointment! She sounds pretty rubbish. Hate it when they write things in your notes that aren't true. Last time I saw mine she wrote I had 'dismissed eating little and often' to combat morning sickness. Err...I didn't say that. Or think that. Infact, little and often was the only thing I could do at the time.

F&T thanks for that. I don't think I'll make it to Boots now, so I'll just have to find something to store my wee in at home! Can't believe I've not been told to bring a sample. I'm not a mind reader!

Lyra I have had vegetables dipped in hummus for lunch. (there's no McDonalds in Windermere Grin)

Block I had a dream last night that DH was covering me with blue body paint. Read into that what you will.

NoMaybeAboutIt · 08/10/2013 15:04

Oh Jolls that sucks!! Cheeky mare!

What a feast Lyra! Panic not about calories Wink

LyraSilvertongue · 08/10/2013 15:04

0 calories?! Excellent!

Fox, you put me to shame with your super-healthy lunch Blush

OP posts:
Blockette · 08/10/2013 15:07

LOL Fox have you been watching Avatar at all recently?

  • I have had a sex dream ... it was Charlie Sheen (YUCK! - but been watching old episodes of two and a half men) - I would like to point out that he was terrible at it and my DH had to come and 'finish me off' properly. Grin

Lyra I had two lunches as well! - They don't count, you had one, the baby had the other!

NoMaybeAboutIt · 08/10/2013 15:09

I have had no sex dreams at all. I am seriously missing out on something!!

FoxMulder · 08/10/2013 15:19

Block I haven't watched or even thought about Avatar since it came out!

I only have sex dreams when I'm a bit frustrated, so in these dreams we're always really dying to have sex and are trying to sneak off somewhere private to get some but keep getting interrupted. I have only ever had a sex dream about DH too. I think that just points to a lack of imagination.

BadlyWrittenPoem · 08/10/2013 15:32

I think sometimes they just don't listen to what you actually say - I had a registrar write "feeling much better now" at 34 weeks when actually what I'd said was "still being sick" and at one of my booking appointments my MW wrote that I'd declined to provide a urine sample when in actual I'd said that I hadn't been told I needed to bring one or given a sample bottle. (Unlike my current MW who when I said I hadn't been asked for one or given a sample bottle asked if I could do one then and sent me to the toilet with a bottle.)

FoxMulder · 08/10/2013 15:40

That Pram really is taking a long time. She better be back before I go home!

BadlyWrittenPoem · 08/10/2013 15:42

Why does the mumsnet "Foods to avoid during pregnancy" have a lovely appetising picture of a soft poached egg at the top of the page? I personally don't agree with the advice about eggs so am not following it but it's hardly helpful to advise people not to eat something while showing them a tantalising picture of it!

BadlyWrittenPoem · 08/10/2013 15:44

Also, why does "appetising" look wrong to me? Google tells me I've spelled it correctly but it just doesn't look "right".

BadlyWrittenPoem · 08/10/2013 15:44

I've been wondering about Pram too. I hope she updates soon and that all is well.

NoMaybeAboutIt · 08/10/2013 15:46

I'm really hoping all is well too Prammy

I agree BWP it's just teasing. But I'm also ignoring the egg advice too Wink

BadlyWrittenPoem · 08/10/2013 15:47

Also, just reading this mumsnet article www.mumsnet.com/health/iodine-deficiency-in-pregnancy and it says you should have 250mcg per day in pregnancy and 250mcg per day when breastfeeding so does that mean I should be having 500mcg per day since I'm pregnant and breastfeeding?

Blockette · 08/10/2013 16:00

BWP are you ignoring all that then? - are you saying all this time I wouldn't have killed my baby if I had boiled egg and soldiers? And you are only telling me NOW?! Shock

what about a prawn sandwich? or sushi? can I have them?

FoxMulder · 08/10/2013 16:06

What's wrong with a prawn sandwich? I thought it was just uncooked seafood that was iffy.

NoMaybeAboutIt · 08/10/2013 16:08

There's nowt wrong with a prawn sarnie Block! That's not on any banned list! And sushi is fine if it's been frozen (like most high street ones are) and lion stamped eggs are from vaccinated chickens. I really want eggs now!

Beccadugs · 08/10/2013 16:08

Hi ladies!

Been signed back to the midwives by the obstetrician! Pain is muscles/ligaments stretching as it is the right time for womb growth spurt (or constipation, spent 45 mins in the loo at work Blush) and baby's heart is string and everything is measuring well. Can have a home birth or MLU.

Will still have to see the endocrinologist every 6-7 weeks. He trained under the consultant I see in London which is a bit of a result (and he was tickled pink about!)

Have found lots of midwives episodes I haven't seen yet so in my Pjs on the sofa with the pup, trying to relax after stressing myself out!

Beccadugs · 08/10/2013 16:10

I have been eating prawns and high stret sushi, as they carry very little risk of making you sick.

NoMaybeAboutIt · 08/10/2013 16:11

Oh Becca I'm over the moon!! So pleased for you Thanks. Now kick back and relax.

FoxMulder · 08/10/2013 16:12

Great news Becca Oh yey, I'm very pleased it went so well. Smile

FoxMulder · 08/10/2013 16:13

'high street sushi' Ha! Not on any high street round these parts.

Blockette · 08/10/2013 16:16

Yeah - glad it was good news Becca - Pj's and pup snuggling sounds good!

  • OMG! my DH has been lying to me! He said all seafood was on the list!! And even DM didn't correct him - she's a nurse! - OMG surely that's grounds for divorce?!

So for tea I'm having boiled egg and soldiers, and for tomorrow's lunch it's Prawn sandwich time!!! Yeay I'm so happy!!!

MummyPig24 · 08/10/2013 16:22

That's good news becca.

Joll the mw sounds a bit inadequate! At least you got to hear baby though :-)

Pram, where are you? I hope everything went well.

I've had a busy day with shopping and ballet and picking up ds birthday present. I now have a grand total of £1.91 in my account. I've been rinsed!

We have parents evening tonight, let's hope the teachers say good things about my little rats darlings.

The mw measured my uterus at my 16 week appointment and said it was spot on, then wrote the foetal heart rate down in my notes.

NoMaybeAboutIt · 08/10/2013 16:23

Ooh, sneaky DH! Only raw seafood is off! And with the exception of oysters, I don't think there is a lot of seafood you can eat raw.

Grin Fox there's no sushi in my city either, have to be on London for it!
