Shiny new thread, ladies :)

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Oh Becca I hope your consultant helps. Make sure you tell them everything, don't leave until you feel you've explained your problems and worries.

I am soooo hungry today. Just eaten 3 shortbread biscuits but it is really not enough. Lunch at 12 today I think!

NoMaybeAboutIt · 08/10/2013 10:43

Oh Becca lovely. I'm sure your consultant will help. Constipation can be excruciating, it really can. Also normal to be wetter. I'm sure that nothing is wrong with the baby, but the consultant will put your mind at rest. As Ice says! tell them everything! even if it seems insignificant x

Beccadugs · 08/10/2013 10:53

Thanks maybe and ice! Have got myself into a bit of a state. Sitting at my desk making a list of things to ask. GP suggested referring for another scan if its not better in a couple of days and have a note from her to consultant too. So am being looked after. It's just such a worrying time!

Blockette · 08/10/2013 11:05

Hope you feel better after talking to the consultant Becca - I was a bit "wetter" the past few days too, but apparently that can happen.

Hope everything goes well at your scan Pram

... I've eaten my lunch already, and I have to be here till 6 :(

NoMaybeAboutIt · 08/10/2013 11:07

Becca all rational thought goes out the window I am decided Wink. You will be very well looked after. What time is your appointment?

No no Block, you haven't had your lunch! you've had elevenses Wink. That gives you free reign to go out and buy lunch, and have an afternoon snack. Must keep your energy levels up and all that Grin

RaspberrysAndIcecream · 08/10/2013 11:22

I've just had my 16wk check with the midwife.
Little bump perfect size and heard the heartbeat! Grin

becca hope you're appointment goes well this afternoon.

NoMaybeAboutIt · 08/10/2013 11:25

Brilliant news Rasp!! Did you have your bump measured, or is it too early for that? Mines tomorrow so I'm wo seeing what to expect!

commsgirl · 08/10/2013 11:41

Yay Rasp. Maybs I didn't get my bump measured, she just gave me a good prod to check my uterus was moving up. I would have thought the oversized stomach gave it away

Becca sorry you're having a hard time lovely x

RaspberrysAndIcecream · 08/10/2013 11:43

She measured the bump, she felt my stomach, and found the top of the uterus and measured to the top of the pubic bone. It's 16cm - exactly right, 1cm for each week.
She also tested my urine, so take a sample with u.

Beccadugs · 08/10/2013 11:50

Great news rasp!

Appointment is 2.30, will report back afterwards.

Thanks again for all support it really does make a difference!

NoMaybeAboutIt · 08/10/2013 12:03

You're more than welcome Becca. Can't wait to hear what happens.

Thanks for the advice Rasp. I knew about the urine, but it looks like everywhere has a different protocol!

I'm with you on the stomach Comms! No mistaking it now!!

NoMaybeAboutIt · 08/10/2013 13:10

Where are you Prammy?

Jolleigh · 08/10/2013 13:14

I'm off to my midwife appointment in a mo and have the most pathetic wee sample ever (because I forgot and went for a pee about 20 minutes ago Sad ). It's literally only a few drops. Is that a problem? ?

HotCrossPun · 08/10/2013 13:18

Can you top it up when you get there Jolls?

Blockette · 08/10/2013 13:19

that sounds detailed Rasp she did none of that at mine! hardly even looked at me, she just filled in some notes, went over my blood test from before and that was it!

no measuring or heartbeats - well jealous!

nomaybe - good idea! out for lunch #2 I go!

NoMaybeAboutIt · 08/10/2013 13:24

Jolls as long as there's enough to soak into the dip stick it should be ok? Or as Hot says, try and squeeze out a bit more in the surgery?

What's on the menu Rasp?

NoMaybeAboutIt · 08/10/2013 13:25

I mean Block Blush

Jolleigh · 08/10/2013 13:26

I'm there in 10 minutes and don't think there's more pee to be squeezed out lol. But I'm sure there's just enough for a dip stick Confused

FoxMulder · 08/10/2013 13:29

I've got my midwife appointment tomorrow but I haven't been told to bring wee. I don't think I have a suitable container!

floatyflo · 08/10/2013 13:39

Do update us Becca. I have had similar 'symptoms', for want of a better word, as you have described and have been worried also. Especially has I have had a lack of movement. I'm sure all is absolutely fine and we are just worrying over nothing naturally. :) :) :)

Although having a dream last night that my waters broke really early and no midwives would help as I owed them money from when I had my son (!?), doesn't help any niggling worries!

Blockette · 08/10/2013 13:54

go in and turn the tap on Joll

Fox they gave me one at mine (and one to take home ready for next time), just make sure you semi need a pee so you are ready in case.

nomaybe I couldn't choose in the end so ham and mustard sandwich was the boring option. Although I'm starting to think baby is a veggie as I seem to be going off meat!

ahh love you floaty you must have things on your mind to make you dream up things like that - I can assure you though they WILL help you (even if you owe them money Wink ).

have we had any update from Pram yet? maybe she got lost on the bus! - good luck Becca hopefully you will be better at updating us then Pram Hmm

faithfulandtruthful · 08/10/2013 14:07

Becca If you are constipated or have trapped wind it can be very uncomfortable. As mentioned a few times before, you will be wetter down there whilst pregnant as it is your body flushing out your cervix keeping everything clean. Apparently a change in smell is not unusual in pregnancy but if it is fishy or yeasty you may have BV (bacterial vaginosis) or a yeast infection. Your Dr should be able to check these things out for you to make sure.

Fox my understanding is all pregnant women need to bring a sample to all their MW/GP appointments to test for uti's and sugar in the urine. My area will not supply you with a sample pot you must instead provide your own. I went to boots and asked at the counter and for the pricey sum of 60p I got a container. I also think you can pick them up cheap from ebay and amazon in bulk.

F&T

Jolleigh · 08/10/2013 14:10

Well, that was an anticlimax. I'm already home. Plus sides: she was friendly enough and I got to hear a lovely strong heart beat. Negatives: she wasn't at all interested in any discomfort I've been having and flat out told me that the reason she was rushing is because she wanted to go and have some lunch. She didn't weigh me, which I thought she would, me being under a consultant because of my weight. Under the fetal heart rate section of my notes it now says F/HR. I'm pretty sure she didn't look at my previous notes, just added to them. And all that says is 'adv flu vaccine' which she smegging didn't. Angry

floatyflo · 08/10/2013 14:30

Ah Blockette that's just one strange dream out of many! Anybody else have really crazy hormonal dreams?

I had a dream I tried to kill one of my cats, and then another that my cat had kittens and I killed one in the bath. Really violent and awful. I can assure you all I am an absolute animal lover, especially our kitties!

Some dreams are just weird and others have been more disturbing, nightmares really I suppose.

Yes then last nights dream was obviously bringing worries to the front of my mind. Worrying about health of bump and worrying about cuts, NHS and money!

LyraSilvertongue · 08/10/2013 14:39

Becca, you could have an infection. It's normal to be wetter down below but it shouldn't smell. I'm sure your consultant will test you.

Where are you Prambo?!

I couldn't decide between Gregg's and McDonalds for lunch so I had both Blush Sausage, bean and cheese pasty to start, main course of double cheeseburger and apple pie for dessert. I don't want to know how many calories were in that lot.
