Magpie don't worry about worrying! With first dd I wasnt convinced i was pg until she was actually born. And even then she was whizzed away to scbu so I wasn't totally convinced!! Grin you only have to read up the thread to see how varied the symptoms are. I seem to be avoiding the sickness ATM..... and I wish my wind was trapped Blush

CbeebiesIsMyLife · 30/09/2013 20:37

Banana, I'm going to get quite firm and say, ignore the stupid dr. Man up and do what you know is right. Along this path to birth (and beyond, but that's not a discussion for now) you have to stick up for yourself, you will disagree with many people be it drs, midwives or consultants, they know nothing. Only you know your body and your baby. You know what you need and no one else is going to stick up for you.

Now use this as practice, and call receptionist tomorrow.

LongTailedTit · 30/09/2013 20:37

Evening all!

Just been reading through my maternity notes from the booking in apt, and spotted the midwife had ticked a few wrong boxes...

According to her, DH isn't the father, but a relative is! Shock Hmm
Will have to get that amended next time I see her!!

Do check your notes are correct once they're done! If IIRC, there were mistakes on my last set for DS too.

Still feeling rough here, my 'bump' is ridiculous, I look 5 months gone, and It's. All. Wind.
Yuck.
Off to bed shortly, am wiped out.

9+1.

Magpie78 · 30/09/2013 20:38

Thanks ladies! Just wish he was more supportive but it is my own fault as I have always done everything for him and made my bed I suppose! Maybe once I start showing he will help me more......

BananaHammocks · 30/09/2013 20:44

CBeebies I'm going to ring tomorrow and ask if I can just bring a urine sample in any time as i don't think they want to do anything until it's confirmed then I'll try and get a midwife appointment booked.

The doctor is stupid as before I went in someone who he had just seen came back in from the pharmacy and said the pharmacist told them the antibiotics he prescribed were discontinued a while ago Hmm

bouncysmiley · 30/09/2013 21:00

Booking in done. I forgot my green book and wee sample like a plonker (pregnancy brain?) but had a good midwife who went through the millions of questions (as helpfully described by PFJ) with good humour - laughing at the 'is your current partner the father of your baby' and refusing to ask the past drug history claiming 'everyone deserves a free pass'. Scan in two weeks. Whoop!

RosesInTheRain · 30/09/2013 21:04

LongTailed, I've filled in my notes myself (except the referral to the hospital pages which say 'for medical professional only') and I've not seen my midwife yet! Did the same last time too. Change it yourself, they're your notes!

Booking in tomorrow. Dreading it as I'll have to discuss DS1's birth (traumatic) and DS2's TFMR, and then if it's the same midwife as last year with DS2 explain why I will be requesting an ELCS while she doesn't listen... Least in my neck of the woods bloods are done separately by the practice nurse, who is amazing :)

AliOh · 30/09/2013 21:15

banana I have my booking in appointment when I'm exactly 10 weeks - think I'd rather have it later even though I feel like I've been waiting ages for it I figure that every else will start moving pretty quickly after that :)

moominleigh94 · 30/09/2013 21:22

bouncy what's the green book? Is it something specific to your midwife or am I supposed to have one? Hmm panicking over the slightest thing here.

10+0 tomorrow and booking in Grin

LongTailedTit · 30/09/2013 21:22

Cool Roses I think I will! Tippex in the morning :)

Got to have a few blood tests this week, the midwife won't book my 12wk scan until she has the results back, she just said she was v belt-and-braces and liked to have everything in order?! Really need to look up all the abbreviations, I can't even tell what they're for.

BananaHammocks · 30/09/2013 21:31

I'm just worried about having the scan later as it's so hard not telling anyone! I'm a bad liar and I'm gonna get caught out by not drinking soon!

What excuses have you all given for not drinking? Or are people not suspicious because you are usually more restrained than me? I very rarely get drunk but I will always have a drink if I'm with friends at the weekend, managed to avoid nights out so far but everyone will guess if I'm out and not drinking, especially because it's combined with having recently got married and soon to be turning 30! I'm so predictable!

loopylou52 · 30/09/2013 21:32

moomin the green book is your maternity notes. The midwife will probably give you it tomorrow. I got mine from the GP's reception when I went for my initial appointment and got my referral for the midwife, but a lot of people seem to get them at their first midwife appointment.

loopylou52 · 30/09/2013 21:36

banana - so far I've managed to be in situations where I've driven to go out, so have had a reasonable excuse. Everyone is expecting it from us too (got married last year and in our thirties) so it's going to be hard keeping it secret for another few weeks! One of my best friends just announced, which was a bit weird because I couldn't just go 'oh wow, me too' and had to pretend not to know much about pregnancy and not ask the detailed sort of questions I really wanted to know about!

Hezbean · 30/09/2013 21:40

Banana your doc does sound like he's got a bit confused! I'd definitely move your appointment :-)

As for the not drinking - I've managed to either drive or pretend to be drinking vodka and lemonade when I'm actually drinking lemonade! That's fine as long as its me or dh going to the bar.. I've told a couple of v close friends as they would guess otherwise. We are going to a wedding next week where we won't know very many people - I think it will be ok apart from during the dinner where ill probably have to get dh to swig from my drink / swap glasses etc! He'll end up smashed...!

Squiffie · 30/09/2013 21:47

Alioh carpel tunnel feels like tingling, pins and needles and numbness (can be some or all of the above). It can be in one or both hands and doesn't affect the little finger (no idea why). It's controlled in the first instance by wearing a wrist brace, there are other options beyond this depending on the severity but I've never needed anything else.

Squiffie · 30/09/2013 21:52

magpie this will be dc3 for us and dh still refuses to acknowledge that I'm 'really pregnant' until after the dating scan.

Booking in appointments where I used to live were considered fine if done before 12 weeks. I went to my docs on Friday to contact mw and receptionist took details and told me to wait for midwife to get in touch.

7+5

thistlelicker · 30/09/2013 21:54

I think I'm going to was and see if I get pins and needles
Tomorrow,
If I do I'll try and get
Into gp

mumof2aimingfor4 · 30/09/2013 21:55

banana your dic is a tw*t fir lack of a better word. For starters he doesn't even have a vagina (sorry moomin) so he can go screw with his little biology lesson as im sure you know what you've got better than him
Any who, do you know which hospital you want to use? I only ask because my hosputal has a self referral form on line so I filled it in and they sent me my booking in appointment details in post (arrived within two days) and yes they dated me the normal way! ;)

mumof2aimingfor4 · 30/09/2013 22:01

Oops you dic isn't a tw*t...your doc is.

NannyPlumForPM · 30/09/2013 22:36

Your dic is a tw*t hehe must be the hormones Wink

Chip86 · 30/09/2013 22:39

Hi Longtailedtit by 8 weeks your tummy will start to grow because hormones make your intestines grow and by 9 weeks you will start to show so i think most of it will be baby not wind
