Hello can I join in?

I've been lurking and have read the threads and you lot seem lovely! I'm 6+6 today and had an early scan this morning which went well - all seems fine and there's only one in there which was a relief! It's our first and edd is 20th may. Feeling mostly good so far and as long as I keep eating I don't feel sick! Good to hear all the info about the midwives appointment. I've got my booking in next weds.

thistlelicker · 30/09/2013 18:30

CbeebiesIsMyLife · 30/09/2013 18:50

Thistle, carpal tunnel is very common in pregnancy, it sounds like you may be developing it. I only have carpal tunnel in pregnancy, it's a pita!

CbeebiesIsMyLife · 30/09/2013 18:54

Insean it sound like you have a great midwife! Hg is usually a real struggle to get a diagnosis or with many drs and midwives telling you your over reacting etc. take all the help they give and a referral to the hospital means they'll get some fluids into you and give anti sickness medication.

Squiffie · 30/09/2013 18:56

I was going to say the same as cbeebies its really common in pregnancy, that's when I've had it. I wake up feeling like my arm belongs to someone else Hmm

hobbjobb · 30/09/2013 19:03

Hello ladies I hope you are all feeling well.

Bit of a weird one but I'm not sure how to deal with this. I noticed I'm having some brown discharge when I wipe, I'm 7 weeks today.
It looks like old blood, kinda like when I'm just about to come on.

I haven't had my booking in appt yet so not sure what to do or who I would intact anyway?
I'm not having and cramping or anything and I've had no fresh blood, what do you think I should do?

BananaHammocks · 30/09/2013 19:39

Please help I'm so confused!

I went to the doctors surgery today to tell them I'm pregnant and get things going, he asked me how many weeks I was, I said 6 as my last period was 16th August, he then told me I was 4! I said oh do you do it from ovulation no last period? and he proceeded to give me a biology lesson!!

NHS website says I am 6 weeks, he says 4 and that my first antenatal nurse appointment would be at the end of October!! But I'll be 10 weeks by then not 8!!

What's going on??

AliOh · 30/09/2013 19:40

Hi hezbean and congrats :)

squiffie is that was carpal tunnel is? I've been waking up last few weeks with a dead arm I just thought I'd been sleeping on it funny.

hobbjobb maybe ring your GP in the morning and make an appointment to put your mind at rest?

BananaHammocks · 30/09/2013 19:43

hobbjobb I has some v light brown spotting too but it was v v early on so I don't know if it was the remnants of an implantation bleed.

I think people seem to say if it's light brown and there's no pain then it's probably nothing to worry about, can you call midwife/surgery/NHS direct?

AliOh · 30/09/2013 19:44

banana were you referred to the midwife? If so they will probably get in touch at about 8 weeks, if not give them a ring then. My GP didn't really know much about anything to be honest, she asked me to check NHS website to see what foods I couldn't eat, wait for the midwife to get in touch and google any questions in between! Not particularly helpful!

BananaHammocks · 30/09/2013 19:48

Well... everyone told me the doctors (weirdly) don't ask for a urine sample they just believe you when you say you did a test but he did ask and I'd just been for a wee so couldn't oblige! I've got an appointment with a nurse next mon where I need to bring a urine sample so maybe she will get me more sorted?

He said first midwife appointment would be end of Oct but I'll be 10 weeks by then!

CbeebiesIsMyLife · 30/09/2013 19:55

10 weeks is fine in some areas for a booking in appointment. Mine isn't till 9.5 ish.

BananaHammocks · 30/09/2013 19:59

He said around 30th of October, I'll be 10+5 by then but by his calculations I'll be 8+5, why is he calculating differently from the NHS and everyone else I know??!

loopylou52 · 30/09/2013 20:01

Oh my God Banana, it's really worrying when GPs don't know what they're talking about! Could you call when your appointment comes though to shift it forward or something? It may be that the people who sort out the appointment realise though, if he had to put the date of your period on the referral?

BananaHammocks · 30/09/2013 20:04

Well I've got an appointment with a nurse when I need to take in a urine sample as I couldn't give one this time so I'll interrogate her about how many weeks I am!

Did you all have to give samples or did your doc take your word for it?

CbeebiesIsMyLife · 30/09/2013 20:06

Probably because he knows nothing. Don't stress too much about it, give the surgery a call tomorrow and say 'I nee to book an app with the midwife, I'm x weeks' and they should do it do you x

NannyPlumForPM · 30/09/2013 20:09

I said I was pg and the dr took one look at my daughter and said oh it's even more routine this time. Just ring the bluebell and they'll sort you out. See you soon.

No urine, no questions, no well done, nothing, not even a mention of frolic acid

BananaHammocks · 30/09/2013 20:13

So do you think I should go to this nurse appointment next week with my urine sample, get it confirmed and see how many weeks she says I am from my dates?

I don't want to just ring the surgery and tell them I'm 6 weeks and I need to book a midwife appointment when the doc said I'm 4..... I'm too much of a goody two shoes!

Magpie78 · 30/09/2013 20:15

Hi everyone this thread makes me feel so much better. Today am 5 + 2 and not really had any serious sickness yet only intermittent nausea which I am not sure whether I am imagining. I have an early scan this Thursday due to some awful cramping, am pretty stressed about it as I just don't feel that any of this can possibly be really happening (major problems in that area plus we weren't trying....is all a bit of a miracle. DP is not being much help as he is struggling to get used to the idea and keeps saying that I am not properly pregnant! When did you guys start getting proper symptoms? Other than sore bbs and trapped wind (tmi) I have very little. Very scared that this is all going to be taken away, sorry for the worrying!

BananaHammocks · 30/09/2013 20:18

Hi Magpie78 I'm 6+3 (not 4+3, stupid doctor!) and I feel the same as you! Some nausea that I think I might be imagining, boobs a bit delicate and some very vivid dreams! Nothing else!

Really hope you scan goes well
