nat I know! Couldn't imagine having nameless baby for 6 months!

fave I'm sorry :( Still, if you have a private room does this mean DP/H can stay in the chair?

badger my numbers were 160/110 but I was told to call in if either number was at that or above, it didn't need to be both. I'm so surprised that they are not doing your CS ASAP, makes no sense at all. Shit, yes, I did have a placental abruption, I didn't mean to share that until this with BP problems had all given birth but forgot in my rant, I'm sorry. I didn't have one last pregnancy though, so please try not to think about it Flowers.

thethreeblondies · 29/09/2013 21:36

MrsHN I'm suffering with extreme movements too, nothing this baby does is comfortable, hiccups and I'm getting headbutted in my fanjo, out to the front I have bum in my ribs and it feels really tight (these are the ones that I mistake for bh) but for last 2 days it's been back to back so mental feet, knees etc to "chase"/poke across my stomach but really bad back ache! Will wait till girls at school before I get on all fours tomorrow and attempt to spin baby!

Umlauf hope things improve as ur milk comes in, (it all changes then anyway even if it works ok right away!) just to echo what others have said, try and stay calm, no perfume etc, tummy to tummy let him "find" boob, rub his hands feet to stimulate him, and maybe try a dummy to encourage the suck reflex?

Tarlia · 29/09/2013 21:37

*those not -this

PseudoBadger · 29/09/2013 21:38

Tarlia you don't need to worry about letting it slip - you haven't worried me, I'm just concerned for you!
I will definitely clarify tomorrow what my readings should be with the unit as I haven't been happy this weekend at all.

ananikifo · 29/09/2013 21:38

Tarlia I hope your BP calms down soon. You deserve a break from this! And 15 nappies a day!Shock

I'm getting more low down baby movements in my pelvis and I hope and dream that baby is engaging but who knows. He was free on Monday.

orange I have no idea how I'll use my essential oils but I've bought a bunch of them. I'm really need to start infusing them while I listen to the natal hypnotherapy. Lavender and clary sage is the combination I'll likely use, as well.

claphammama · 29/09/2013 21:43

good luck favellio - we shall be refreshing furiously through the night! you are having a surprise right?

tarlia sorry your blood pressure is still all over the place... I have absolutely no experience and no idea what to say so just sending you Thanks and xx

re: the advent calendar, we bought the Christmas tree shaped one in F&M. Very traditional and lovely - will post a photo on Facebook later. I know... I always thought people doing anything even vaguely Christmas related in September or even October were saddos... so I am now a saddo... Grin we actually went there only to buy some tea but we saw the Christmas section was already open and couldn't help it... my current (after the fact) excuse is - there will be no time once the baby is born.

and chickie / tarlia - yes, of course I made pasta tonight!! Grin Grin Made lumaconi (the big snails shape) with garlic, cherry tomatoes and basil. Very simple but made me very happy! Grin

monkey so sorry to hear about your family problems. We had a thread (must be 3-4 months ago now) where we discussed all our disfunctional families and all parents / in-laws/ siblings nightmares we have... there are so many of us on this thread who don't have the family and support we would need and would love to have... it's really hard but good your immediate family is lovely. And, as someone wisely said in the past, let's hope all these experiences will only make us better parents Thanks

sorry if I'm forgetting someone! Yoh chatty ladies (not that I'm chatty at all...Grin )

Natalieand · 29/09/2013 21:47

clapham I almost brought an advent calender for dd today in sainsburys but she said she wanted Halloween stuff instead and conned me into a £10 pirate girl costume instead of a sweet lol.

ananikifo · 29/09/2013 21:51

clapham I bought Christmas cards this week because we may not have time with the baby and overseas ones usually need to be sent early. I looked longingly at advent calendars but DH would have protested too much. So I'm a saddo too, just a wimpy one.

AnythingNotEverything · 29/09/2013 21:53

Umlauf - you've had loads of great advice, but just to add one more ...

My DS wouldn't latch. We stated in hospital for four days trying everything we could, but he just wasn't interested. I expressed for 6 weeks and fed him almost exclusively on ebm. It can be done!

At about two weeks old my community midwife suggested we give it a go, and he latched perfectly, despite use of bottles for the ebm. For us, we were already set in our routine and I didn't want to start again, but it shows that if you keep your supply up through pumping you might get him to latch later on.

Congrats to you new mums, good luck to those in progress, and a good night's sleep for the rest of us!

claphammama · 29/09/2013 21:59

natalie / ana - yay!! I'm not the only saddo Smile!!

natalie s* I completely forgot about Halloween...

anything sounds like your plug loss hasn't amounted to much so far?

Natalieand · 29/09/2013 22:28

I love Halloween clapham someone got the baby a babygro for the baby shower they makes him look like he's wrapped as a mummy lol will take dd to a Halloween party at the local soft play and usually take her trick or treating and its her birthday 1st of nov so gives her something exciting to do the day before plus there's usually loads of local firework displays etc on somewhere.

Not long till we are officially in October!!!

Flyer747 · 29/09/2013 22:29

Oooh Clapham posh advent calendar just snooped at it online, me like!

So dp announced yesterday he is doing the Macmillian "Sober for October" campaign Grin I would love to have faith that he will complete a whole month of being dry, however one is a tad sceptical.

favellio · 29/09/2013 22:44

yes we are having a suprise baby Smile they're happy with the trace but worried about infection risk as waters started leaking 36hrs.
been on the trip since 10pm. They double the dose every hour until contractions are regular, then they maintain it at the level. Will be having an internal at 2am to see if I'm dilated at all.
And yes my dh gets to stay with me, which I'm very happy about Grin hopefully once in established labour I can come off the monitor because I really want an active labour, not a bed bound one!!
gonna try and get some rest til the next check up. will keep you posted x

monkeytree · 29/09/2013 22:48

Clapham missed the thread about dysfunctional families as only joined the thread a month or so ago. Not glad to hear others have dysfunctional families but comforting to know I am not alone. It makes me work harder with my relationships with DH and DD though so that's the up side. It's a shame. Being a mum myself now I find it hard to understand my own mothers behaviour. We did very little as mother and daughter when I was a child and I have done so much more with my own dd already I just couldn't imagine it any other way! I know we all get things wrong sometimes..........

Have been internet shopping. Beginning to panic now although I have got most things as it is getting increasingly difficult to get to the shops. Felt exhausted after last weekly grocery shop. DH will go it alone (with a little help from dd) next week, poor man is worried about getting things wrong as I am behaving like a crazed woman at the moment (due to the hormones I hope)

Had a lovely afternoon walking (a few hundred yards) in the sunshine visiting a local AONB (and it was beautiful) really lifted my spirits. Can't believe how incapacitated I feel (maybe age related) at 36+2 I realise I've got a few more weeks of this! Just seem to ache - ankles/legs etc and struggling to get from A to B but I know I'm fortunate it's not a long term condition just feels that way!

Wishing everyone a good nights sleep!

Natalieand · 29/09/2013 22:51

favellio I have no experience of this so could be wrong just going by what I've heard, when you are a few CMs dialated could they put a clip on baby's head too monitor heart rate if they want continuous monitoring although i will sayin advance I have no idea if u can be mobile with that done either but might be worth an ask xx

TheFalconsmistress · 29/09/2013 23:12

Having lovely cuddles with Willow but missing keeping up with the daily chatter here. I have doctors tomorrow as I have start of PND again despite my best efforts (intrusive thoughts high anxiety etc) really upset just wanted lovely "baby moon" after a pretty rollercoaster pregnancy. At least I am more aware this time to realise its not my fault and I need help DH has been great too.

I am going to get through each day as it comes and enjoy the moments of calm I hope all the ladies waiting get there babies soon and all new mums have a good evening xxxx

moonblues · 29/09/2013 23:36

Falcon sorry you've not been feeling so good. Flowers Well done on making the appointment for the doctors. Hope you feel better soon.

juniper9 · 30/09/2013 00:00

I've got 1 minute until I'm officially overdue... I reckon this is going to be an October baby after all.

This thread moves a lot faster than the September one, though! Most of the September lot have moved over to Facebook or graduated to post-natal. And I'm just stuck here, sulking Sad

tuckingfits · 30/09/2013 00:24

Hi all. Just popping in to say I have only just caught up with all of today's chatter! I have no doubt forgotten the majority of it. But... Good luck favellio, hope things move along for you & that they will allow you an active labour. You could ask if they have any telemetry monitoring things - that's what I have been offered,it monitors you continuously but doesn't need to be plugged in so you are free to move about. Worth asking if they have such things available if they do want to maintain constant monitoring.

pseudo & tarlia I'm really sorry you are both still having such issues with your BP. I hope you both get the respective answers you need tomorrow.

falcon sorry to hear you're feeling crappy. You have had such a lot to deal with, that it's probably not surprising really if you are feeling a descent towards PND. You should be proud of yourself for tackling it head on & I'm really pleased for you that DH is being so supportive.

I am SC at 38 weeks (+1 if you take 17mins past midnight as Monday!). Was moaning about still being pregnant earlier,am now having odd pains low down in my bump. I am not getting my hopes up,they are just unfamiliar. Still struggling to breathe effectively due to the lingering remains of the infection I had.

jelly I was in Prestwick & Ayr on Saturday looking at cars, realised how close we were to Crosshouse & wondered if you were out enjoying the beautiful sunshine. Hasn't it been gorgeous the last couple of days?! Sorry you've hurt your back, not good. I can recommend the physios at our hosp - very thorough (I think you have recommended them to me before,so you know this!). Also - how did you find out that they were closed yesterday? That's a bit scary! Was it midwife & consultant sides?

Ok,am off to bed to see if things develop & hopefully get some sleep if they don't. Night all.

favellio · 30/09/2013 00:53

just had my main waters broken (we suspect it was my hind ones that leaked) my good god there was a lot of fluid! only 1cm dilated but hopefully drip will speed it up now. I got a feeling we're in for a long night/day! once the contractions ramp up a gear I'm gonna ask to be more active if possible x

MrsHoratioNelson · 30/09/2013 04:41

Morning all. Using the insomnia to catch up on ep 2 of Strictly as DH turned his nose up on Saturday.

Hope you're making some progress favellio and Thanks for Falcon

Good luck Favellio!

Thank you for all the luck wishes, am having my last pre-op bath and shave shaking like a leaf! not a great combination for the shave! Really nervous and excited, thank god I got some sleep last night!
Feels very unreal that i'll be holding my son in a few hours!

JellyCurls · 30/09/2013 06:26

Good luck today Cherry & Favelio

Tucking the weather on the west coast has been glorious past few days, most of which has been spent playing hide n seek in garden, chalking slabs and "magic" painting - great fun. AMU was closed Sat afternoon / night for admissions (or so I heard) as short staffed and had no beds. My friend was due to be induced Saturday and got sent home late afternoon with the message about being transferred if in labour. Another friend had her baby there yesterday so hopefully all back to normal now.

It's my due date today and I am SC back better from sleep but still sore. Expect an increasingly grumpy Jelly till baby arrives ladies

Falcon (hope this is correct name check) good luck at Doctors today, have been very lucky and never suffered PND but I have good friends who have and know how hard it can be. Be kind to yourself honey it's been a difficult journey for you Thanks

MrsHoratioNelson · 30/09/2013 06:26

Ooh yes good luck Cherry hope they don't keep you waiting too long to go into theatre.

roofio87 · 30/09/2013 06:33

falcon sorry you're not feeling great, but glad you're on top of it and so can deal with it all as it comes. you're right that recognising pnd is the best start to feeling better. Thanks

good luck for today favello and cherry, two more babies with us soon!!Smile
