I knew I forgot something... Congratulations gt. Look forward to hearing more about your baby's arrival. Hope you're feeling better now.xx

MotherOfNations · 27/09/2013 23:54

tucking I'm seriously hoping there has just been a breakdown in communication between the hospitals regarding what is to happen. It's very strange that the cardiologist is saying one thing and the pediatrician another.

tuckingfits · 27/09/2013 23:59

Yup,I really hope that's the case. It wouldn't be unheard of I'm sure. Still not what you need to be dealing with though, not like you don't have enough going on already.

I don't think I ever mentioned but my best friend, who lives in the States, had a baby girl last year & called her Eliana. I hadn't heard of it until then & haven't heard of it since apart from your little girl. I think it's a beautiful name :)

MotherOfNations · 28/09/2013 00:23

No you didn't mention it tucking. I've fallen in love with the name now despite some negative comments but I have a lot more to worry about than the opinions of people who don't matter so stuff them.

Dp is worrying about having to tell the boss from hell that his paternity leave will be starting a day earlier. Apparently she's told other staff she doesn't want to lose him (she certainly doesn't act like it) and that she'll definetly be extending his contract. She doesn't know that the manager of the young asylum seekers project he done some training and relief work for has invited him to apply for a better paid more senior position with them as a key worker and have more or less said it's his.

Nellysgirl · 28/09/2013 00:53

Hi everyone! Just popping in to say hello on the new thread. I've got plenty of catching up to do!
Congratulations to those who have had their babies!
I'm SC at 39+2 Hmm slow labour has actually turned into NO LABOUR...
Can't complain, been having a nice time flouncing or should i say waddling about since its ground to a halt.
So to update at my last check I was 2cm and 'favourable', had a sweep and another show.
It's all parked up now...
I've got a new book to distract me and a whole new thread to catch up on.
Good night to all fellow mums. Hope you all get restful nights - unless for a good reason Wink xx

Wickedgirl · 28/09/2013 01:42

MoN I can't believe they're treating you so badly. Fx that is it just miscommunication. I hope that everything goes well Flowers

char1eston · 28/09/2013 03:14

Sorry - haven't had time to catch up yet. Just wanted to update that our baby boy was born (unexpectedly) at home at 20.15 this eve. No name as yet - 8lbs 6oz so a good weight. Currently asleep in my arms as I can't sleep.

quick birth story

We'd taken dd to the childminder at 4pm as I was convinced fuffa would arrive over night.
Dp picked me up from hospital (where I'd been to get checked for limited movements and waters) at 4.30 and we were home by 5. Had a few contractions in the car but they were pretty mild. When I got home they started to ramp up fairly quickly and I got in the bath. After 4 contractions in the bath I told dp that I didn't want to be at home anymore. We phoned triage and she asked if I wanted to go in. I said yes in a very meek voice. Got downstairs and had a contraction over the ball and tried to get up whilst willy put the bags in the car. Decided that there was no way I could make the 20 min journey to hospital and willy called an ambulance. I think the crew were here for an hour an the midwife arrived 1min after he was born! All pretty mental but it I really lovely to be at home.

KarmaBiatch · 28/09/2013 04:42

congratulations char1eston how exciting!! Sounds like it all went pretty smoothly Smile

enjoy your newborn cuddles xx

chickieno1 · 28/09/2013 05:00

Wow charleston congratulations and well done! Must be lovely to be at home with new baby Flowers

mon so sorry you are being given contradicting information. I really hope thy can sort it out before next week. I've lost my CS date buddy. At the end of the day the cardiologists/paeds have to do what's safest for Eliana and yourself. You've been through so much this pregnancy, hope you get some answers from liaison nurse tomorrow xx

Pseudo hope you're ok. Glad you had a nice dinner with your dh after what must have been a stressful day. Was it a small VSD? They will be able to assess more once lo arrives. Good he paed cardiologist was positive. Hope your BP stays down on the labetalol. You should ring about the oedema in the morning. Flowers

umlauf and tucking hope feeding gets sorted out soon. You both are probably exhausted too which is hard. Plenty of skin to skin will help whichever way you decide to feed xx

tarlia and textbook watch out for day ~10 post CS as can be very sore. Take regular meds around that time. Due to fibrous tissue being laid down. I felt it last time even though I had been fine beforehand. Xx

Really sorry I've forgotten everything else.

Off to big second hand kids sale tomorrow. A bit like nct nearly new sale. Need to look for 0-3 snowsuit for baby and a footmuff type thing for buggy. Might also look for a bouncer. Supposed to be quite a good sale so fingers crossed I get stuff.

Happy birthday blondies sounds like you had a lovely day xx

Last weekend as threesome..........

chickieno1 · 28/09/2013 05:01

Doh sorry falcon not tucking Blush

favellio · 28/09/2013 05:04

huge congratulations Char1 Thanks

I just woke for a wee and as I stood up, I almost fell to my knees with what I'm assuming was a contraction but had no show, waters or other signs so reckon it was a 1 off Sad

chickieno1 · 28/09/2013 05:14

Hope all ok jethro

Sanjifair · 28/09/2013 05:14

Many congratulations umlauf and char. And two very different labours! Sounds like it all happened very quickly for you char, I have heard that 2 nd labours tend to be about half the duration of first labours, was that true for you?
Hope the feeding works out umlauf.
mon just adding to what others have said, hope the communication improves. Good that you have got childcare sorted for the others.
pseudo sorry to hear your news, but best to know and baby will be well looked after.
SC at 37+6 here, no signs, jealous of all the new arrivals!

Haylebop12 · 28/09/2013 05:23

Congratulations charl! Wow, your delivery sounds very similar to mine as I reckon if I had left the hosp when I went to be checked I wouldn't have made it back!

sanji my first labour was 12 hours although my waters were artificially broken. Second labour 4.5 hours.

FeministInTraining · 28/09/2013 06:13

Congratulations Char enjoy your newborn cuddles.

Can't sleep, heartburn. Drinking milk because I hate the liquid Gaviscon consistency. We had a discussion a few threads back about what it reminded us of... Boak

SC 37+5 DP declares baby is coming on Wednesday. Wishful thinking!

Natalieand · 28/09/2013 07:20

SC at 37+5 and getting seriously impatient now even tho I need to wait till Monday anyway so I can have my midwife of choice
'Suprise' baby shower today I've lost count of how many times dh has asked me what I'm doing today so I have just said having a long soak in the bath and having a 'trim' in preperation for Mondays sweep incase it works, to which he replies- aren't u going to your mums? So I just said. 'Dunno I'll see how I feel lol make him sweat a bit.

char congratulations on the arrival of your little bundle :-). U didn't no the baby's gender before hand did u if I remember rightly?look forward to hearing your name choice

hope you are ok tooGT xx

Racheld33 · 28/09/2013 07:26

Congratulations charl such an exciting birth! Wine

Thanks to mon and pseudo I echo what everyone else has said about being strong and being as prepared as possible for when the baby comes Cake

chickieno1 · 28/09/2013 07:32

Natalieand · 28/09/2013 07:43

Thanks chicki xx

moonblues · 28/09/2013 07:46

Congratulations char1eston!

Starting to get jealous of all these ladies with babies. :)

Hope everyone has better days today.

MrsHoratioNelson · 28/09/2013 07:48

Congratulations Char all sounds quite exciting!

Having gone to sleep wondering whether I might be having contractions after all, we were woken this morning by a massive thunderstorm - keeps moving away and coming back and the thunder and lightning are quite spectacular! Sporcamuss was clearly v uncomfortable in the night too, so I'm putting the whole thing down to the atmospheric pressure .

Possibly our last weekend before being parents, so we're going for a curry tonight and then out for Sunday lunch.

Hope you've all got nice weekends planned, even if you're already cuddling babies Envy

OrangeBlossom2 · 28/09/2013 07:59

Congratulations char!

A baby in a thunder storm would be a dramatic birth story too MrsH.

I am loving the regular stream of new babies and gorgeous pictures on FB everyone. Althought can't wait until it is my turn!

JellyCurls · 28/09/2013 08:28

Congratulations Char

SC at 39+5 and any signs I had previously that baby would be coming soon have all gone. Bit in a peed off mood today so will check in tomorrow morning when I have hopefully had more sleep and am in a better mood.

pinkbuttons · 28/09/2013 09:00

Congratulations char what an exciting way to enter he world! glad your home and well.

Just wanted to send my support to MoN and pseudo. really hope your able to get some answers and explanations today MoN it seems there has been a huge breakdown of communication somewhere along the line and definitely needs to be sorted.

39 weeks today and SC and nothing to report either. Would now like baby to wait till Weds just for ease of DH's paternity leave so easing back on operation baby eviction.

tarlia missed your post the other day but glad to see your home, hope all is well and DS1 comes around soon. Am dreading the effect baby is going to have on my DS hes already started with tantrums but well deal with whatever comes I suppose

Have fun today nat, hope youve been practicing your surprised face. Poor DH must be panicking Grin

Sorry to every one I've missed sending Thanks to everyone whos fed up/ill x

MotherOfNations · 28/09/2013 09:00

Congratultions Char1eston The pic on fb is adorable. You look so relaxed and incredibly happy.

I tried to phone the cardiac liason team but the office is closed because of the holiday weekend here in Scotland. I'm hoping that the midwife today will be abe to phone the cardiologist at Yorkhill for me so I'm clearer on what actually needs to happen.

Definite reduced movement since the steroid injection yesterday. I was up half the night nudging my numb trying to make her move. I've had some movements this morning but nowhere near as active.
