Doesn't sound like many of us have had a very good day apart from moonblues and blondies. Hopefully you two have had good enough days for all of us.

My DM just called with a thinly disguised enquiry as to whether I'm in labour yet. Once we'd established I wasn't she rang off pretty sharpish to watch Strictly Grin

As it happens I'm not feeling great - uncomfortable BH and just a bit bleugh. But I can't say I think it's the start of anything Sad. Sporcamuss is obviously very squished in there and keeps wriggling around trying to create some space.

MoN DD has been in Yorkhill overnight a few times and was always allowed to have someone stay over but not sure if same applies to the neonatal unit. Special care in Ayrshire have open visiting for parents so your DP could be there 24 hours if he wanted hopefully same applies in Glasgow.

You guys are never far from my mind hope you get some answers tomorrow.

MotherOfNations · 27/09/2013 21:30

Thanks Jelly. I really hope he is allowed.

One of my sisters has said she'll take the 4 dc while I'm in hospital. They'll just need to miss school for a few days. She already has 3 dc herself so God knows how she'll cope but it means Dp can be with me and/or Eliana without worrying about them.

MotherOfNations · 27/09/2013 21:34

A friend who's sister is a cardiology nurse at Yorkhill has just messaged me on facebook to say that Dp won't be allowed to stay with Eliana but that she has asked her sister to look out for her.

Natalieand · 27/09/2013 21:36

MoN my hospitals neo natal visiting hours are open visiting for grand parents parents and the baby's siblings xx

HeffalumpTheFlump · 27/09/2013 21:38

Natalieand · 27/09/2013 22:02

hayle how is Isaac? Did he come off of his oxygen today?

Flowers to all those enjoying new born snugglesand night feeds

And good luck too all those SFC and SWIL xx

thethreeblondies · 27/09/2013 22:05

Thanks so much for all the bday wishes, you ladies are all so lovely, I've had a lovely day, had vouchers and money for some post pg clothes, pj's and smellies for hospital bag, photo frame with pics of the girls in, books and more!! Spoilt! had a dust buster that I had asked for too Pizza was lovely but has set ibs off tonight, so been on loo cramping and ill for an hour Confused

Mon sorry to hear they've sprung this on you now, but I guess it's better than finding out on the day, at least u can ask questions and try make plans now Thanks

Umlauf thank you for the baby for my birthday! Shame the little tinker is messing around with feeding, took a few days with DD1 to get things established, did u have much blood loss, heard that can affect bf, hopefully he's just a bit tired and will figure it out soon!

With regards to travelling with little ones I was reading thinking godh they are all brave to be considering these trips, then remembered we are going to Disneyland paris on the 19th December for a few days! My main worry is that our name negotiations have stalled and baby will need a passport sharpish! I'm not even thinking about the drive and overnight ferry, just get on with it I guess!

Haylebop12 · 27/09/2013 22:10

Hi Nat was just coming on for quick update.

There are signs his infection is clearing and in turn his oxygen is being reduced. Not by a lot but if he keeps his stats up then this should continue to happen. His antibiotics finish tomorrow :-)

I'm getting quite excited reading all the pending Labour news.

Congrats umlauf try not to stress to much about feeding. It'll happen I'm sure x

Happy sleeping everyone else. I wish you all few toilet trips!

TheFalconsmistress · 27/09/2013 22:21

Congratulations umlauf on Bertie sorry the feeding is not going to plan mine isn't either. I have lost to much blood so getting a good supply even though she has been on it and I have been expressing she gets frustrated and hungry but as I said before as long as she is feeding I don't care if its formula or breast she is just coming out of the jaundice too so it was important i got what ever she would take from me. She is on 4oz of formula (hipp) every 3 hours or so and she suckles the breast at night more for comfort I think :S.

I hope it works out for you though but its still nice to bottle feed you still get a bond and he will grow just as well, if you have too xx

Natalieand · 27/09/2013 22:21

Glad to hear hear he's on the mend even if it is slowly but surely, hope he's home for snuggles with u all before u no it xx

Jel if your Paris holiday threeblondies

Tarlia · 27/09/2013 22:24

badger I'm sorry that the news today wasn't what you'd have hoped :( I've no experience but thinking of you. You are doing great to be still maintaining Bp too!

mon sorry they've had a change of plan :( Hopefully your CS will go well and you'll have a 2 day discharge. Thinking of you too.

Good luck mrsz!

textbook I'm a week post op now. Sucks about the meds, I was sent home without anything. I only ended up with the 400mg ibuprofen as DP was taking DS to Drs so he spoke to her for me. You still have a bandage? Mine was remover after 24 hours but I was glued and have plaster strips. How is your wound being held together?

orange so pleased to hear you are feeling more relaxed now.

umla please don't panic about the feeding, my DS1 wasnt interested at all for the first 24 hours. He then had to have formula for two days (he was small and very sleepy) while I pumped before he finally worked it all out. He was then breast feed until 2.3 years, so really no issues at all I'm the end. My best tip is stay as calm and positive as possible.

TheFalconsmistress · 27/09/2013 22:36

pseudo and mon thinking of you xxxxxx

claphammama · 27/09/2013 22:52

MoN and pseudo hope you manage to get some rest tonight xxx

PseudoBadger · 27/09/2013 22:58

Hi everyone, thanks for all your wishes and stories. I also have a good friend who had a hole that healed itself so I know it can and does happen. Dp doesn't know anyone who has had one so he is much more apprehensive I think. I had an unfortunate google earlier but I won't be doing that again....

MoN I'm so sorry they've changed their attitude/decision on what will happen after birth. And that they aren't treating you with respect and keeping you informed. Thank you for thinking of me, it's nothing compared to what you have to face x

Dp and I went to the local fish restaurant and it was lovely - I wore basically pyjamas as I have no interest in wearing proper clothes any more :o

Umlauf I'm sorry that feeding is tough, but as already said they can cope for quite a while without much, their stomachs are teeny. I hope it improves for you. As others have experienced, I was separated from DS for 3 days after birth and only fed occasionally for a short time each time. We then went on to feed until he was over two. I'm thinking of you x

Falcon - sorry things are tough for you too. Have they monitored your blood loss - are they taking care of you?

Hayle - so pleased that your boy is improving!

Happy birthday Blondies!

Sorry to anyone I've missed Flowers

monkeytree · 27/09/2013 23:04

Clapham Without giving exact location for obvious reasons, I live on the outskirts of Gloucester. Cheltenham is approx. 25 minutes away in the car. I like Cheltenham for shopping etc. it's a lovely town centre.

JellyCurls · 27/09/2013 23:07

BH have started up again tonight so am off to bed to try mentally encourage baby to appear but don't hold your breath ladies Jellybaby won't be here anytime soon. Oh and for first time in my life, and for 3 pregnancies, I have developed piles - off in a huff now. Night night hugs to all that need it x

PseudoBadger · 27/09/2013 23:09

Oh god jelly my piles are awful today! Sympathy sent x

claphammama · 27/09/2013 23:22

I know Gloucester monkey, DP's best friend lives there. And I also love Cheltenham - some lovely shops and restaurants. So quiet and manageable compared to London... DP wants to go back there to retire one day. I would love one of those gorgeous regency houses so he may have to work forever though... :-)

MotherOfNations · 27/09/2013 23:41

We've just booked tickets for Dp's mum and great aunt to come to stay with us for a week on the 2nd. I'm glad Dp will have some moral support while I'm in hospital.

I've got a pounding headache tonight. I'm not sure if it'ss a possible side effect of the steroid injection or if it's stress related.

Sorry for those of you experiencing difficulties with feeding. I don't think I'll fare much better. The midwife today said more than likely she'll be tube fed formula but that I can express but that's never been very successful before.

tuckingfits · 27/09/2013 23:43

Hi ladies

Having a quiet day today. I just wanted to send my best wishes & admiration to both MoN and Pseudo. MoN - I can't believe they are treating you with almost distain. I would be gutted. I am glad that you have the cardiac nurse to talk to tomorrow & with luck she will cast some light or at least be able to check it all out for you & hopefully be reassuring. Hugs to both of you.

Jelly I'm with you on the uncomfortable Braxton Hicks. My bump spends most of the time rock hard now. It is really uncomfortable, add in lots of pressure down low & the old cervix bouncing & scraping & I'm so very ready for the hour long drive,in labour,to the hospital. Am dreading going overdue again & reaching 23rd Oct & meeting my ELCS date.

Umlauf congratulations on Bertie's safe arrival. I commented on FB but not been on here all day. He is lovely - better in the flesh than in the scan photo you were worried about?! I hope he's ready to feed soon,as others have said try not to worry & don't let anyone pressure you into formula unless you are comfortable with it.xx

Happy birthday blondies sounds as though you've had a lovely birthday :).

Good luck char & anyone else I have forgotten who is SWIL.

I am 37+5 & SC.

PseudoBadger · 27/09/2013 23:46

MoN - how did you find the first steroid? Just as a heads up I felt most unwell two days after the second jab - massive water retention in my limbs and my breasts felt rock hard and so sore like I was already breast feeding! It was definitely the steroids. I did lots of googling and couldn't find anything similar (other than normal water retention) so just thought I'd share....

tuckingfits · 27/09/2013 23:47

MrsHN sorry about your horrible driving experience this morning. I wanted to say that your mum phoning you to gently enquire as to your pregnancy status made me smile because my mum sent me a text this morning asking how I am. I know this could be put down to my having been unwell recently but she hasn't done it in the last two weeks and two days, not that I am counting and I am sure it was just a "are you in labour?" text. Actually DP said to me this morning - "no movement on the baby-front then?". He got a Hmm look & a bit of a mouthful about how I am sure he'll be well aware when there is a change in my status. Bloody people men.

MotherOfNations · 27/09/2013 23:50

Not too bad pseudo. I had it in my arm which I wasn't expecting. I usually have Braxton hicks that start around 7pm and tail off around 10pm but nothing tonight strangely enough and not as active as usual.

MrsO27 · 27/09/2013 23:51

Sympathy on the piles ladies. A bit gross, but putting a cube of ice in a freezer bag, tying the bag, and then popping on the pile(s) helps lots for relief at bedtime as it shrinks them. Just not very nice waking up with a melted ice cube in a freezer bag stuck between your bum cheeks Blush...

Someone asked about leg cramps today, or yesterday perhaps, and I forgot to respond. I personally haven't had as many lately [touch wood] but I have got much better at catching them the second they begin and flexing my toes up and stretching the calf muscle so they don't progress to a full blown cramp. I also do calf stretches before bed. Hope whoever it was who was suffering from them has found some relief.
