gawjus - I just had me some Thai noodle soup...was bloody lovely. Will have to have something later too though as it wasn't nearly enough. Suggestions for my top-up tea anyone?

LyraSilvertongue · 24/09/2013 18:38

I'm having a chorizo and goats cheese tart with chips and green beans. The boys are having spicy chicken skewers instead of the tart. DP will be having whatever he can scavenge at work.

LyraSilvertongue · 24/09/2013 18:40

I've just bought 32 packets of Walkers crisps from co-op. The lovely manager let me have one multi-pack of 12 for 99p because the bag was a bit battered. At this rate my poor baby will be largely composed of potato.

BadlyWrittenPoem · 24/09/2013 18:40

From the spatone website: "Can I take a multivitamin with Spatone?

Yes, as long as the multivitamin does not contain iron.

Do not take Spatone and a multivitamin containing iron."

Yet they say you can take two spatone if you are pregnant and every pregnancy multivitamin contains iron. I can't imagine that anyone would want to give up the multivitamin in favour of just iron supplementation!

(I was actually trying to find out the vitamin C content of apple spatone but annoyingly they don't seem to give it.)

lumpylumps · 24/09/2013 18:41

We had old el Paso enchiladas. They were bloody lovely.

I'm horribly tired today and can't cope with anything. Dh has accepted a chest of drawers off a work mate. We don't need them, they're mingling and stink of smoke. God, the arguments they've caused. Why do we need 6 chests of drawers, where are they going to go and they stink!!!! They've made the dining room stink. WE DON'T NEED THEM!!!!

Am I really getting this wound up by a chest of chuffing drawers?????

Jolleigh · 24/09/2013 18:44

Lumpy - you do appear to be, yes. Welcome to pregnancy Wink I cried this morning because cars stopped to let a big line of geese across the road. Honestly. Hmm

BadlyWrittenPoem · 24/09/2013 18:44

Also, what is the point of this? www.hollandandbarrett.com/pages/product_detail.asp?pid=533&prodid=609

If you're using vitamin c to aid iron absorption you need about 7mg of vitamin c per 1mg of iron so what is the point of putting just 60mg with 14mg iron?

(I am feeling rather ranty at the moment so these things are annoying me.)

rescoonetwothree · 24/09/2013 18:45

thanks so!

umm have i missed a midwives? i thought it was on tonight?

BadlyWrittenPoem · 24/09/2013 18:45

Lumpy I'm getting wound up about vitamin C and iron supplements and I think a smelly chest of drawers is much more significant than that!

Jolleigh · 24/09/2013 18:47

BWP - Should we get a chemist here so you can shake the bottles in their faces and rant? Wink The vit C and iron thing...maybe you're not supposed to absorb as much iron as is in the tablet? Hmm

Wonder77 · 24/09/2013 18:48

Fish pie

Jolleigh · 24/09/2013 18:52

grey - thought it was later? Like ages later?

babybear9 · 24/09/2013 18:53

jolleigh its a preventative for pre eclampsia apparently which you're more at risk of with a high BMI. Just a bit concerned as it was the obstetric consultant at the hospital who put me on it. however, just back from docs having been given and new anti sickness tablet to try and he seems very surprised about it which got me concerned!

Cassiopeia01 · 24/09/2013 18:53

Grey, midwives was on last night.

Have started to announce upduffdom at work. Really difficult trying to drop it ino conversations and had a few 'I knew its!' Feeling much more official now.

Re dinner, I am getting a cuzza. The hubster is on hols in Cyprus with his mate (clearly this generates huge amounts of brownie points for me which will take years to use up Grin) and I can't be arsed to cook.

rescoonetwothree · 24/09/2013 18:54

oh bugger, thanks cass! joll thats what i thought too, whoops!!

BadlyWrittenPoem · 24/09/2013 18:56

It just seems like if you're going to add vitamin c to aid absorption it should be based on the figures that research has shown are needed. I imagine it's probably to do with not wanting to put more than the RDA of vitamin C in or something. Although the zinc/vit c ones (for colds) have more vitamin c in them. All I want is a vitamin c supplement I can take with each meal because that would enhance my iron intake without adding iron supplements which can increase nause/vomiting but most are crazily large amounts or are with zinc which can cause nausea.

BadlyWrittenPoem · 24/09/2013 18:58

And in case I sound like some crazy loon obsessing about iron I should probably mention that in my last pregnancy I was admitted to hospital due to anaemia symptoms. Which I wouldn't have had if I'd taken my iron supplements but I had to stop because they made me so sick that I would have ended up in hospital (where one of the first things they would have done is stop me taking iron supplements because they can make sickness worse).

Jolleigh · 24/09/2013 18:59

I've not seen my consultant yet babybear . He may put me on an alternative? Maybe your doc was surprised as he didn't think you were big enough to justify it? I carry my weight well and my GP is always a bit surprised when he weighs me, so I imagine knowing I'm under consultant care would probably surprise him too.

Jolleigh · 24/09/2013 19:01

BWP - is there not a food or drink that'll do the job?

BadlyWrittenPoem · 24/09/2013 19:02

cass I've found that loads of people say they "knew" for all sorts of reasons which were nothing to do with the pregnancy. First time a friend said she "knew" because DH mentioned going to the shop for smoked salmon because we'd just been on holiday to the highlands and I love the stuff. It had nothing to do with the pregnancy and was just because he wanted to surprise me with it because I really like it and was missing it. Then one time somebody "knew" because DD1 had been talking about "baby brother" the last time we'd seen them when in fact at the time we didn't even know I was pregnant let alone DD1 and she'd been talking about baby siblings for nearly two years.

BadlyWrittenPoem · 24/09/2013 19:07

Joll do you mean the vitamin c or the iron? Or both? Yes there are but the problem is being able to eat them/eat enough of them. I'm currently drinking prune juice (diluted with apple juice to make it palatable enough for me to force it down) and eating dried apricots partly for the iron (and partly for avoidance of constipation) and I have orange juice with two of my meals but partly I'm worried it won't be enough and partly I'm getting pretty fed up of eating/drinking those things. Plus I'm starting to get heartburn so if I can find a vitamin c supplement to have with meals I can ditch the orange juice.

MummyPig24 · 24/09/2013 19:07

We had pork loin steaks, roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese, Brussels sprouts and gravy. It was delicious.

Have I missed rocks reveal?

cassie what's a cuzza?

Rockchick1984 · 24/09/2013 19:07

IT'S A GIRL!!!!!!!!!! Took ages to check as she didn't want to move into the right position - stubborn like her mum Grin

Cassiopeia01 · 24/09/2013 19:08

BWP - I have been told its because I am glowing. What I think they mean is still fat but with a shiny face! Grin

Cassiopeia01 · 24/09/2013 19:08
