Hi everyone. And welcome new Maybies!

I have been lurking but not posting for a few days, but I need somewhere to moan with people who are around the same stage as me. I have been struggling with nausea, sickness, headache, going from hot to cold, shivers and shakes, exhaustion, stress at work and generally feeling down in the dumps. I am fortunate to be pregnant and so hopeful for the future, but I feel so fed up today. I am sick of feeling ill and not myself anymore and I am sick of waiting to see if everything really is ok. Is this in any way normal?

9+1

NannyPlumForPM · 24/09/2013 16:11

Yep isean, and the REAL beauty is that your only a quarter of the way through!! :-D in my experience I got a lot better, more comfy and happy in trimester 2 (around a month away), but hold fire till then and feel free to moan and groan!!

I have disappeared from the stats??? I'll pop myself back on....... o.O

CoffeeGuzzler · 24/09/2013 16:30

I had very faint pink tinged discharge when I wiped last night. And again right now. It's so faint that I wouldn't notice had I not have been looking for it. Should I be worried? Is it something to do with the transvaginal scan yesterday?

LongTailedTit · 24/09/2013 16:33

V pleased to see your scan went well PFJ! :)

I had my booking in apt today, the midwife came to my house. All v pleasant, lots of paperwork, and I have to go for a ton of blood tests next week.
We discussed the possibility of a home birth, seeing as that had originally been planned for DS, but I had assumed I'd go to hospital again.
The 'Birth Choices' leaflets etc here are written very well; "If you are expecting a normal labour and birth, but do not want to have a homebirth, you can choose to have your baby at one of our two modern birth centres...." Grin

She told me of a midwife's blog she reads, somewhere up North, where they have a 30-40% homebirth rate, in stark contrast to the 2% national average. I was stunned! Whatever that district is doing, they need to roll it out nationwide!
Anyway, suffice to say, she was keen for me to reconsider homebirth. Still not sure, will need to discuss it with DH too. Might not be able to anyway, pending blood tests, but hey ho.

The new Bounty Pack has a week of prenatal vitamins in it - shock horror - actually useful! Wink

Welcome Isean I have a theory... and it's probably wrong... but I think the older you get, the more crappy you feel when you are first pregnant...... But then I think the older I get the more crap I feel in general and the more crap gets dished out to the world!!! I feel the same honey... you are not alone.....

LongTailedTit Birth choices sound very nice... home births and water births also sound very nice.... A Doula, a shamanic drum and rainforest sound effects all sound very nice also.... but my gut instinct will ALWAYS scream at me - GET THEE TO THE BLOODY HOPITAL WOMAN WHERE THE DOCTORS AND THE PAIN MEDS ARE' Grin But that's just me. Surprisingly in all other aspects of my life I am actually a total hippy. But I am a wuss when it comes to pain!!!!

Vitamins in the bounty pack??? Cool!!!! Smile
xxxxx

lolablu · 24/09/2013 16:56

thistlelicker · 24/09/2013 17:01

ThePFJ · 24/09/2013 17:08

Yay thistle !!!!! That's wonderful!!!!

coffeeguzzler If it's just a tiny bit it's normal, just mention it to your midwife. In my first pg with DS I had 'spotting' on and off for the first 2 months.

Hi everyone, hoping I can join you all! Was a bit wary about joining a thread after an early MC in July this year but had a scan today at 7+2 and saw one baby and one heartbeat so feeling a tad more confident now Smile

Emergancy HELP DH brought cheese cake can i eat it????

Spirael · 24/09/2013 18:51

No, give it to me. Yes, cheesecake is absolutely fine. :) As long as it passes normal edible rules: in date, not furry, not been dropped onto the floor for more than 3 seconds, etc. Wink

thistlelicker · 24/09/2013 18:54

I had mayonnaise with pasta!!!! What fruit are we at 8 weeks ;/)

loopylou52 · 24/09/2013 19:04

Isean - I could have written your post, I feel exactly the same way.

Spirael · 24/09/2013 19:06

Mayonnaise is fine too, unless it was fresh mayo made with unpasturised eggs. Although, to be honest, even if it was fresh mayo it would probably have been fine.

The problem with raw egg is that while pregnant there's a higher chance of getting salmonella if it's present, as your immune system is dampened down to protect the baby.

Most eggs in this country come from chickens that have been vaccinated against salmonella. You can check by looking for the red lion stamp on the shell. If the stamp is there, the chance of getting salmonella is next to none.

Spirael · 24/09/2013 19:09

Sorry, I appear to have taken the food authority baton! Blush Hope people don't mind. I just remember worrying a lot about it all last time, so I did loads of research and jump on the chance to share it.

moominleigh94 · 24/09/2013 19:12

Raspberry at 8 weeks :) mine's a green olive at 9 weeks apparently :)

LongTailedTit · 24/09/2013 19:16

Go ahead Spirael, it's v useful! I was about to order lunch yesterday when my SIL reminded me I wasn't allowed Brie - oops! Good job she was on the ball.

Thistle - I was wondering about fruit too! I reckon we're at blueberry.

thistlelicker · 24/09/2013 19:18
