Ahh so happy for you Vikks how lovely to see a heartbeat Grin

Where were you planning on going on holiday? Was the nurse nice about it because from your post it sounds like she was a bit snarky and blunt.... nervous about my midwife appointments and scans now Shock

NannyPlumForPM · 24/09/2013 11:39

Moomin - New Looks got a brilliant Maternity section - but don't give up on River Island/Topshop either - because their maternity sections are less used then they are usually in the sale!

I got some great maternity jeans last year in the River Island sale for a tenner a pair and they lasted really well!

Really happy for your vikks I hate that midwifes are so doom and gloom all the time but I suppose it is better to aim low and win high!

I'm still going on holiday! Grin

Spirael · 24/09/2013 11:42

I find the seabands work well for me Moomin. They aren't a miracle cure or anything, but they just take the edge off to grant the ability to function throughout the day. It also is a good focus point when needed, to push the button into your wrist!

Last time I discovered that maternity clothes seemed pretty hard to find on the high street. A lot of stores have a range if you check their website, but only their really big stores stock them.

H&M had some good basics, IIRC. Normally they're found next to the child section. Debenhams have some nicer things, but they can be expensive so best to grab in the sales!

Hi all (and welcome to all the lovely newbies!)

I had my scan this morning (6+6) and saw our little one who is 6mm, and I was even able to see the flicker of the heartbeat for a few moments. I was so nervous, much more than I thought I would be, but it's perfect and I am so happy. So this afternoon I need to call the GP and tell her my due date and get referred to the midwife!

Now counting down to the 12 week scan and I can actually hear that heartbeat....

I have a baby in my tummy!!

BoogiesBunny · 24/09/2013 11:48

Vikks the sonographer and nurse were very cautious with me too, I guess they just have to be careful. The nurse did say congratulations but neither of them matched my excitement after seeing the images.

As for maternity clothes ASOS seems to have a good, cheap collection, although I don't like much on it at the moment. Eying up a winter coat on Seraphine but also one at Reiss -I'm not sure how big I'll be during the cold months! I have bought one jersey maternity top as I had a voucher and, well, just had to.

moominleigh94 · 24/09/2013 11:53

The primark in town is a good size... same goes for New Look and Next. River Island is too far away Grin well, it's 15 minutes walk, but I can't be bothered Wink thanks!

Hi all,

Just back from my scan. It was arranged by my GP yesterday as I had done sharp pains, and a bit of pink/brown discharge.

All fine. Baby measuring 19mm which makes me 8 weeks + 4 which was 1 day further on than I thought.

Saw the heartbeat which was so cute, and the EPAU were lovely. Even offered me a photo which was totally unexpected. Starting to feel real now!!

Cupcake you might not be too far from the things we're talking about, apart from sore boobs my symptoms have all disappeared. Only really had them week 4-6. I was starving and out on 6lbs in those 2 weeks, and that's when I was nauseous and super tired too. For the last fortnight I've been totally fine.

impatientlywaiting · 24/09/2013 12:07

Bit worried we haven't had an update from ThePJF after her scan yesterday. Hope all is well with her.

AliOh · 24/09/2013 12:16

Aww lovely news of scans today :)

Yes was wondering about ThePFJ fx everything is ok

moominleigh94 · 24/09/2013 12:16

Was she on the stats page originally? I looked yesterday and couldn't find her stats. I hope she's ok.

Cybercat · 24/09/2013 12:37

Really hope you are ok The PFJ x

impatientlywaiting · 24/09/2013 12:41

Just checked stats and she's still listed on there. Unless I have somehow looked at an old unrefreshed list??

Hope she's just been super busy so hasn't had a chance to come back and tell us how it went.

loopylou52 · 24/09/2013 13:21

Hi everyone and welcome to the new Maybies!

Excellent news on the various scans - my turn on Saturday! Can't believe they were so negative Vikks! I know it's important not to get too carried away this early on but telling you you shouldn't go on holiday seems completely over the top! Fx for good news from the PFJ soon.

My nausea had been much better the last few days, but I was still feeling really weak and achy. Have felt really sick again this morning though. Sad Just managed some lunch so fingers crossed it goes back to improving. I can't remember who asked but I've had some lower back pain too, though it seems to be an old issue which is just flaring up a bit more than normal.

7+2 today

ThePFJ · 24/09/2013 13:30

Scan ended up being today..... just got back.....

OMG... It's in the right place, it's definately 7 weeks AND

WE SAW THE HEART BEATING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They are giving me another in 2 weeks and they have put me under 'reassurance protocol' - but all is very very well................. I am so happy... sobbing into my cardigan...... blup....sniff snort....

NannyPlumForPM · 24/09/2013 13:30

From her normal posting patterns I think The PFJ comes on quire sporadically rather than being somewhat obsessed like me Grin

Good luck shopping moomin

Envious of you all who got to see heart beating and all.

AliOh · 24/09/2013 13:53

Aww yay :) great news ThePFJ agree with you Coffee it's so exciting and making me feel so positive keep them coming :D it was me that mentioned lower back pain loopylou think I may have pulled a muscle, was in agony last night, didn't matter if I lay down, sat up, stood up I was in pain! Eased off earlier this morning and can now lie on one side (hurrah!) and hobble faster!

JessicaRRRabbit · 24/09/2013 14:04

Ooh ThePFJ - Thanks Brew and Cake - another brilliant scan update!

AliOh, I get lots of back pain and spasms atm - could you manage a long warm bath and have some paracetamol to ease the pain? Seems to do the trick for me Smile

Blueberry + 3

snoozysleeper · 24/09/2013 14:38

Great to have the good news Flowers congrats on all the scans !!

ThePFJ · 24/09/2013 14:54

sorry girls I didnt mean to worry you.... thanks for thinking of me. They moved the scan to today, and the lovely NannyPlum is right .. I am a bit all over the place with my posts... I have to admit... I have been so bloody emotional with this pregnancy, a lot of days I just want to sit alone in a corner, cry and eat biscuits. But I am happy. And that's whats important.... 35 and pregnant feels totally different to 29 and pregnant for some reason Confused
I love you all, glad we have had good scan news... hugs and more hugs xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

moominleigh94 · 24/09/2013 15:06

Yay ThePFJ, I'm so relieved and happy for you!

Bought some New Look maternity jeans.... they are the comftiest things I've ever worn, no word of a lie. I know some people will say I should wait until after the scan, but I've been so uncomfortable with button-up jeans digging in... it's not even that I've grown (I actually seem to have dropped a dress size Hmm), it's just that where my tummy was a bit squishy before is now becoming a bit more solid and it hurts. But yeah... comfy jeans! And nausea today but no actual sickness Grin

I think I'll be a bit earlier on than I think when it comes to the scan. Not because there's doubt as to the conception date, just because I have no idea how my cycle works.

banana101 · 24/09/2013 15:14

Hello all. I'm another lurker that's decided to be brave and declare myself.

I'm 37 and this is my first pregnancy. Given my age, I didn't expect this to happen so quickly - I thought I'd be trying for months.

Consequently I find myself worrying about everything that could go wrong. I had an early scan over the weekend and saw a heartbeat. So I think it's slowly starting to dawn on me that this could be really happening!

I'm 7+4, due around the 8th May. My booking appointment is on Monday.

It's been really lovely and reassuring to read all your stories...
