Hi Buddha Thanks welcome.

How are you feeling? A big move and early pregnancy must be hard work. Are you moving for work?

I think that the paranoia is par for the course in the first trimester - it certainly seems to be a theme on the ante-natal boards. I have been very fortunate not to have experienced mc but still feel paranoid from time to time.

thistle you have a blueberry too! Grin

5+4 today, so desperate for my scan (had to pay for it) on the 13th October. I never truly believe I am pregnant until I see with my own eyes as I hardly suffer any symptoms. Except major heartburn later on as my babies always have a head full of hair!

Ooh enjoy your week in bed Moomin, I'm very jealous :) And Lola I'll keep my fx you get al least a nice non-sicky morning.

AliOh · 23/09/2013 09:23

Good morning everyone :)

Welcome to all the new Maybies! And congrats!

Best of luck to those who are having scans today :)

7 weeks today :)

moominleigh94 · 23/09/2013 09:31

It's not really a week in bed I suppose... but I'll make the most of it Grin got to go into uni and talk to student services, student finance and the accommodation team about where we're going to live next year... if they can't help, it'll be a private rent job as it seems pretty impossible to get a council house these days Shock

Also need to find out if we're eligible for child tax credits (pretty sure we aren't seeing as we don't pay tax as students), which then means we don't qualify for the Healthy Start vouchers either. So far pregnancy itself has been the easy part, it's the legal/social shenanigans I don't understand!

FacebookStoleMyLife · 23/09/2013 09:55

Moomin in some ways private rent seems like a better option, you can get some great help with the rent payments but still have the flexibility to choose where you live (my brother-in-law and his family are in private rented but with council help).

You will get child benefit even though you don't get tax credits, it's about £80 a month which doesn't seem like much but it really helps x

Spirael · 23/09/2013 09:59

Hi all, mind if I join in? :) I've been following the thread, but have only just plucked up the courage to join. I got my BFP last week and I'm likely to be bringing up the end of the list with an EDD of 31st May.

I have a DD already, but prior to her I lost one at 5-6 weeks. Since I'm only 4+2 at present, I'm still a bit wary that I might lose this one. However my symptoms are already pretty strong, which is both comforting and a bit annoying!

A special hi to everyone I recognise from the September bus! :)

Just made my MW booking in appointment this morning, for two weeks time. Hopefully means I should get my scan date through in the not too distant future, but I'm probably going to book a private scan for around 9 weeks just to reassure myself.

I seem to be getting morning sickness earlier this time - it didn't kick in until 6-7 weeks last time. I can recommend Sea Bands for anyone else struggling. Got mine out already and at the moment they're negating the sickness. As it gets worse I find they only take the edge off, but it's better than nothing!

BoogiesBunny, you mentioned worrying about eating unpasturised cheese that was melted onto bread. Just to reassure you - if it's melted then it's fine! You can have whatever cheese you like if it's cooked, as that kills off any listeria bugs.

moominleigh94 · 23/09/2013 10:05

Wow a 31st May Maybie! There's going to be a June thread soon Shock welcome Spirael

Thanks Facebook, even £80 will be a godsend I'm sure Grin I know I get extra from student finance for having a dependent, and I think my boyfriend will too, as well as 85% of childcare costs covered, so I think we'll be able to manage. My parents have rented privately since I was 2, with the help of benefits. Not an ideal situation as I always said I didn't want to end up on benefits like my parents, but as soon as uni's over, I already know where I want childcare from - university has a nursery that continues accepting kids after their parents have left uni - and we're both hopefully going to be working.

Long-winded way of saying thanks for the advice Grin
