OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Got really hopeful after managing buttered toast... picked up a bar of chocolate... nope, nothing doing. Queasiness is back so I've got a cola cube instead. No idea what it is but I need a permanent supply of these until MS is gone :P

lolablu · 19/09/2013 10:17

just took my morning pills, which reminded me. i know this is a strange question, but hey, im strange..

how big are your vitamins? i can only take tiny ones, and iv found the trying for a baby 7 seas ones to be the best. doc says they are ok to take throughout but wondered if anyone has found any chewable or easy to swallow ones? ta

MasterFlea · 19/09/2013 10:17

I'm getting nauseaus too. It is on and off so at least there is some reprieve. I felt the first twinge too of pelvic girdle pain. I'm not looking forward to that coming back. It made the last pregnancy awful. Doing a gazillion pelvic floor clenches a day now in the hopes that it might hold me together somehow.

MasterFlea · 19/09/2013 10:20

lola my multivitamins are pretty big, probably 1cm lomg and oval shapped. Ive been taking pregnancy and breastfeeding ones for years as I'm still nursing DD2 at the moment.

FacebookStoleMyLife · 19/09/2013 10:41

Hi Everyone, mind if I join you?

6+3 today and feeling like death warmed up so torn between being relieved everything seems to be going strong and huddling in a grump under a blanket feeling sorry for myself. I just got my 12 week scan date through for Halloween, so that's trick or treat on a pretty epic scale.

thistle and Alioh definitely with you on the relief of feeling sick, I'm juggling blissfully happy, excited, terrified and miserable all at once here. I don't think pregnancy brain has anything to do with added dozeyness, it's just that we've got so bloody much going on in our heads there's not room for the ordinary things (I left the fridge door wide open after breakfast this morning).

lola my vitamins are quite sizeable too so I don't know any good small or chewable ones I'm afraid. I do know you should try to avoid ones with added vitamin A if that helps at all?

Thanks for having me and looking forward to hearing all your tales x

thistlelicker · 19/09/2013 11:02

Vitamins??? I'm only on aspirin and frolic acid..... I haven't been told I need anything else?

PixieBumbles · 19/09/2013 11:02

Feeling very nauseous this morning, but the sickness has held off so far (the first morning this week without being sick!). I've been nibbling on salt and vinegar rice cakes all morning which seems to help.

I'm not taking multivitamins, just separate folic acid and vitamin D pills, much cheaper and easier to swallow! Should I be on a particular pregnancy multivitamin?

thistlelicker · 19/09/2013 11:02

Welcome fbstoleurelife :-)

moominleigh94 · 19/09/2013 11:05

I'm only taking folic acid... have a pot of pregnancy multivit but they're bloody horse tablets, no chance! Add that to the giant antbiotics and massive fuck-off paracetamol the doctor gave me last night and it's a recipe for disaster.

thistlelicker · 19/09/2013 11:20

Oh no :-(

FacebookStoleMyLife · 19/09/2013 11:20

Pixie no it's definitely not compulsory, as long as you eat fruit and veg you shouldn't be missing anything. I only take them because they were on offer (paranoid impulse purchase). Like you said folic acid and vit D are the only very advisable ones so you've got that covered.

AliOh · 19/09/2013 11:25

Hi Facebook and welcome! So what vitamins are you all taking? GP just told me to continue to take Folic Acid and said midwife will tell me if I need to take anything else but since Ive not even got a date for booking appointment yet was just wondering!

Cybercat · 19/09/2013 11:27

I had a little cry this morning because I feel so well I don't feel pregnant and then did another test. Husband laughed at me until I told him I'd used the toothbrush holder as a pee pot (I wasn't thinking straight and I scrubbed it). Currently in work, quick break - told all my colleagues earlier in the week and told our Consultant when he came in today (I'm in NHS). He said the thought crossed his mind when he saw me this morning but then went on to say that I shouldn't tell people and not to get emotionally involved at this stage. Nice! He meant well though.

DH off sick today with very bad cold so I hope I don't catch it. Am still n pregnacare conception as I'd just bought a new box when I found out.

AliOh · 19/09/2013 11:28

Hah! Sorry obviously didnt update page before posting! Should I be taking vitamin d then?

Ditsydebs · 19/09/2013 11:43

7 weeks today! On an emotional rollercoaster at the mo feel excited one minute and anxious the next! I have DD 11 and DD8 so it's been a long time since I was pregnant. Really excited about a new bundle of joy but terrified about the age gap are my girls going to hate me for having another baby and upsetting our little family?!
No real pregnancy symptoms at the mo other than feeling sicky most evenings and huge boobs! Had two very easy and straightforward pregnancies so hoping for another!

FacebookStoleMyLife · 19/09/2013 11:48

Vitamin D has is definitely recommended by the NHS but it hasn't caught up with Folic acid in terms of being recommended to every pregnant woman by her GP. It's quite important because babies get their first years supply from their mums before their born and it has great health benefits. BUT you'd only be deficient if you don't spend much time outside (I think the guidelines say 30mins a day without sun cream just over the summer), as we've just had a nice sunny summer we should all be topped up and good to go for Winter.
I have fair skin and slap on the suncream like a madwoman so a supplement's probably a good idea for me. As with so much pregnancy diet related advice it's just a personal choice and not taking it won't make you a bad mum :) After all if we did everything that was recommended we'd drive ourselves insane.

Hi Ditsy! Fingers crossed for you on a third smooth sailing pregnancy. I know that fear for your girls, I worry my little boy won't adapt to a new baby and I'm just messing with our happy little family for no reason, but those are just fears and deep down I'm sure you know you made absolutely the right choice and your girls will be very happy and great helps to you with the little one :)

McBaby · 19/09/2013 12:16

My ms is getting worse managed not tone sol till two days ago! Now being sick a few times each day eating is the only thing which stops me feeling sick ..... Now I remember how I put on 1.5 stone in first trimester last time.

I think pregnancy vitamins are reccomend over other ones as some vitamins can be harmful to baby in the quantities on normal tablets they also have vitamin a from animal not vegetable sources which is harmful. I think as long as your eating a balanced diet folic acid and vit d is all thhats required but I found whenever I stop taking the pregnacare I feel more exhausted. I have been on them for nearly 2 years through previous pregnancy and as still breast feeding.

Mine isn't quite a honeymoon baby as I found out day after my weddding day I was pregnant!

lolablu · 19/09/2013 12:19

I found out 6 days after my wedding I was pregnant... Hmm still 'could be' a honeymoon baby..

KillashandraRee · 19/09/2013 12:49

Hello can I jump on the bus. DC#2 got BFP early last week but line was so faint it took me a while to think this bean might stick.
EDD may 22 so by my reckoning I'm 5weeks exactly today. Have booked appointment with doc tomorrow to start ball rolling. Smile

loopylou52 · 19/09/2013 13:29

Welcome killash and facebook and congrats!

Still off sick feeling sick and generally rough. Haven't actually vomited yet so feel like it's just going to get worse and don't know how I'm going to cope with work. How are those who are feeling bad and working managing?

I'm still on Pregnacare conception too -I got them on 3 for 2 just before getting my bfp! They are big though, so not easy to take, but so far I've still been managing them.

wm3010 · 19/09/2013 13:34

Welcome to the new Maybies - loopylou I am working and feeling bad, not been sick but terrible runs and bad bloating/pain from trapped wind so still spend a good part of most days in the toilets. My boss has been away but I think I'm going to have to tell him when he's back on Monday as otherwise he is going to think I am skiving!

loopylou52 · 19/09/2013 13:43

That's my worry - that I'm going to have to tell work if I need to take more time off, but we're not even planning to tell our parents for another couple of weeks!

I got some preggie pop things yesterday which have vitamin b6 in them which is meant to help. Figured having them every now and then during the day at work might help.

CoffeeGuzzler · 19/09/2013 13:46

Welcome Killash, facebook (fantastic name btw) and Shanks..and anybody other new maybie who I've missed. Apologies.

moomin glad you got sorted. Well done.

Re. vitamins, I've been taking the pregnacare ones. They are pretty huge. They are meant to be taken with the big meal of the day but I'm a grazer, so having difficulty singling out my fullest stomach!

mumof2aimingfor4 · 19/09/2013 13:51
