Congratulations on your job bear!

missk I noticed IKEA now have the fabric to match the buttons rug....

winterflowers · 14/09/2013 19:45

Bear that's awesome news, am made up for you it'll make such a difference. Especially later on.

Jazz...I haven't really looked for buggies etc, partly as there are so many it stresses me out and partly because I'm planning not to go bk to work after Christmas so (naively?) was thinking to do a lot of prep and buying then.

Somanychanges · 14/09/2013 20:00

Bear what great news about the job.

Nova that's hilarious, probably has something to do with baby being in your tummy. I remember when I was pregnant with my first I was a nanny. When I was eating lunch the little bit got upset and said "no don't eat or you will drop all the food on the baby". He was imagining the food going down and all piling on top of baby haha!

Well with all that talk of exercise I decided to get some with my DC today. My DH had to go to London to help his DS move house and left me on my own with DC on such a rotten day. But I was adamant we were getting out doors for some fun and exercise.

We went to Box Hill (armed with hot chocolate and cake in our backpack Blush ) and oh my! am I unfit or what? I could hardly make it up the hill which I used to find hard but not as hard as today. I thought I was going to pass out hehe! So I must really start going swimming in the evenings and do some lengths. DC had a great time in the mud and rain and I was just glad to be out of the house getting exercise and fresh air.

Today is the most I have felt baby move so far it is no longer flutters but actual little kicks. I can't wait for the big kicks to come. The best but is when it's quite big and sticks its whole bum out to one side. My scan date has been changed so now it is one day earlier on 1st Oct not long.

17+3

Poppy954 · 14/09/2013 20:05

Eeyore don't worry. You felt your uterus in the right place. Did you hear hb at 16wk appt? When's your scan?

EeyoreIsh · 14/09/2013 20:07

The heartbeat was nice and strong at my 16 week appointment, so I've got that reassurance. It's just my bump is no bigger than it was at 18 weeks. I've got my scan on Tuesday so only three days of worry left!

Bearfrills · 14/09/2013 20:19

Thanks for the congratulations :) it'll also mean two whole weeks days at home being lazy relaxing and spending time with the DC.

That's cute Nova, kids are funny. DD asked to hold the baby today so I mimed handing her an invisible baby. She held it in her outstretched hands for a few minutes then very slowly pressed her hands together, grinding the palms together, then told me "whoops, squished". I was Shock

Eeyorish, you'll wake up one morning sometime in the next few weeks and it'll have well and truly doubled in size overnight. With DS I didn't really pop until my uterus got just past my belly button then I all of a sudden had a massive bump instead of a little one. This time around I've only got a big bump so soon because my stomach muscles (haha, what stomach muscles?!) have given in even trying to hold it all together.

Somanychanges · 14/09/2013 20:51

Eeyorish don't worry I was teeny tiny with my first and to a certain point with my second. I remember my 21st bday dinner and my DSis was there pregnant too. We were the same gestation and I barely had any bump to speak of and was over 6 months. My sister on the other hand looked like she was ready to drop.

I was actually quite pleased about a small bump as I thought better chance of no stretch marks. And even though I carried so small I had a really good sized baby who born at 35wks was 5lb 11oz

This time around I have not been so luck as I feel huge already. I still haven't posted my bump pic this week will do one now before I get into bed.

Littleen · 14/09/2013 21:09

16+5 today, and little one is rather active, but still feels like a fluttery feeling. btw - what does HG stand for? :P

Poppy954 · 14/09/2013 21:14

You've absolutely nothing to worry about. Your scan will be amazing.

EeyoreIsh · 14/09/2013 21:14

Thanks for the reassurance! I find this pregnancy lark quite worrying!

marzipanned · 14/09/2013 21:28

Littleen HG = hyperemesis gravidarium = HG is to morning sickness what cluster headaches are to sore heads (I think! Haven't had a cluster headache but it sounds bloody abhorrent)

I find it kind of interesting that three of us on this thread have had it and it's only meant to affect 3% of women... hmm.

Speaking of which, I'm trialling a reduction in my cyclizine dose to 25mg. Only had one really bad day this week, hoping to wean myself off completely as soon as possible. Cross your fingers for me :)

Poppy954 · 14/09/2013 21:30

Unfortunately it never stops. You daren't take your eyes off them when they are newborn incase they stop breathing. Then when they first sleep through the night you wake up in a panic that something's wrong. And that's just the start if it, you've got years of worry to come but it's all worth it because you've got years of the most amazing love too.

LittlePandaBear · 14/09/2013 22:08

Great job news bear Smile

I can't join in with the exercise-missing crew, I'm useless at anything active but walk as much as I can! Does that count?

My hubby is out tonight so I've been maternity coat shopping online and have just bought this! coat. The website deducted 10% at the checkout which was appreciated. I just couldn't find anything else I liked on other websites and a coat that does up over winter is a must so I'm sure cost per wear will justify it! Bought the grey but wasn't sure if I should have got black. The parka coats look nice too but can't buy more than one and I already have an oversized parka that will do me for a couple more months hopefully. Fingers crossed it's nice in real life and fits!

Keep us posted with any of your maternity buys - I'm shamefully rejecting most of my maternity wardrobe from 3 years ago, I never had anything that nice and always prefer the lure of buying something new. note to self - am meant to be saving up for a long maternity leave...

Bearfrills · 14/09/2013 22:22

Then when they first sleep through the night you wake up in a panic that something's wrong

Oh my god, yes! I forgot about that moment! You wake up and it's like and you think "why the hell is it light?! Why didn't he/she wake me up?!" and you do a mad dash to the cot. Then, if you're slightly dotty and PFB like I was, you spend the next four nights experimenting with various sound activated wake-up methods just in case the baby did wake up and you somehow slept through it. Then you spend a few nights setting alarms. And one or two trying to stay awake all night just in case ....

tinypolkadot · 14/09/2013 22:27

Seriously, SIL messaged me earlier to see if I wanted to buy any of her baby stuff. Was cooking and eating dinner at the time and when I text back she said her cousin wants it all! Why bloody ask 2 people at the same time?! She could have at least text her cousin first, I think I'd have been happier not having been offered it in the first place.

laura0007 · 15/09/2013 08:19

That's annoying tiny!
Hope everyone is having a good weekend. I've woken up this morning with a horrible pain in my right side, where I imagine my kidney to be. Anyone know what could be causing it, or how to make the pain go away? I'm meant to be wallpaper stripping in the baby's room today!

rueyrichardson · 15/09/2013 08:39

Loving the coat, Panda!

Thingymajigs · 15/09/2013 08:49

That is a lovely coat. I have the New Look snood and I'm buying some Autumnal clothes on eBay. Got some lovely second hand Clarks boots on their way and some pull on ankle boots for when I'm too fat to reach down. Grin There are some lovely maternity jumper dresses too that I'll team up with tights/leggings. So much for saving my money for the house move.
I don't know what that pain could be but there are is a lot of stretching happening in that area that could cause issues. Hope it settles down for you.

It is ridiculous that they don't know the cause. I don't understand why I got it at all! Nobody in my family has had it, I don't react to the pill at all...in fact I've never even had period pains/PMS so I always thought my body had quite a relaxed approach to hormones! Ah well. I do feel lucky that it's eased so much, the thought of going through that level of illness for the entire pregnancy...

Poppy954 · 15/09/2013 11:28

I luckily haven't had hg (feel for those that have ) or anything close but still baffled that my sickness has been completely different in each pregnancy. Number 1 - sick every morning from 5 to 23 weeks. Fine the rest of the day. Then just stopped suddenly. Number 2 - no sickness or nausea. Number 3 - nausea throughout day increasing from 6 to 10 weeks then decreasing from 10 to 14 weeks. Still occasional sickness at 18+ weeks.

Whatever the cause I would have
Expected my body to react the same each time.

Milkandtwo · 15/09/2013 11:58

I've had no sickness at all but the combined pill had me hospitalised and I've always had bad period pains... Synthesised oestrogen (in combined pill) is different to 'natural' though I think...

CubanoHabana · 15/09/2013 14:07

Well when not pregnant, I cry at I am legend, so what came over me to watch it whilst pregnant! Even left the room at the worst bit and still sobbed before and after!
