Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
legallyblond · 08/09/2013 16:38

Gave up on the scan in the end... Was going to be another two hours (I'd already waited four hours...) and my tummy was visibly moving with squirms etc, so mw said I could go with instructions to call if movements decrease.

legallyblond · 08/09/2013 16:39

And I was about to say the same re Leo!

cazboldy · 08/09/2013 16:52

ladies..... I feel really rough, and have been sick. Head still pounding. feeling quite dizzy if i stand up.

Usually have low blood pressure, and never had any signs of pre eclampsia in any of my previous pregnancies, so don't think it could be anything like that.

do I ring mw? wait til tomorrow and ring her/ go to clinic she has at docs in the morning? or just wait and see?

PseudoBadger · 08/09/2013 16:54

Caz I would call someone today if you can. I was going to ask about your headache earlier, sorry x

tuckingfits · 08/09/2013 17:14

Thanks diege.

smitten I started perineal massage a couple of weeks ago,I'm not keen either & am not doing it as frequently as I should be but it is getting less uncomfortable & the hypnobirthing class midwife/tutors said it is invaluable & that they can tell who has & who hasn't done it. If it makes things easier I am all for it!

They also said that there is no evidence of raspberry leaf tea/capsules helping & in fact that there is some evidence that it can delay things. They are not supposed tohelp induce labour, the theory is that they tone the uterine muscle, however that in itself suggests to me that they wouldn't gel. I drank the tea last time around & was 13 days overdue with DS... I can't take it this time as apparently anyone who has had uterine surgery shouldn't as they can increase the risk of uterine rupture...

I wrote my very brief "birth plan" yesterday. Very easy-oasy because I know things can change in the blink of an eye,but at least my basic wishes are documented now.

textbook · 08/09/2013 17:42

Caz ring today, better safe than sorry etc. Also, if you're worried then it could be making the headache worse. Hope you feel better soon x

Pinkforboys · 08/09/2013 17:45

Hello All,
Finally putting my feet up after a day of clearing and cleaning. Pooped!

Diege pm me your address and I'll pop the bra in the post. Don't worry about paypal, I'm just glad it won't go to waste! x

Caz def call someone. Could be anything but doesn't sound like you should suffer alone.

Nat I know just one little Lenny- took me a while to get used to the name tbh but that's cos my Dad is a 'Len' and I always saw Leo as more contemporary version. But I think Lenny's v cute now- and of course Mr Henry is a great role model.

diege · 08/09/2013 17:50

Gosh thanks pink, are you sure? That's so generous of you!
Caz I would also give the mw a call now - once it's in your mind it's usually only by speaking to a medical prof that you will get any sort of relief from the worry x

Flyer747 · 08/09/2013 18:09

Natalie Lenny is ok, it's quite cute and probably not too popular and it goes well with your surname.

Finally chosen a boys name we agree on Benjamin Thomas and dp's surname is Scottish so it goes well, he would get Called Ben which I like.

tuckingfits · 08/09/2013 18:12

caz I would ring midwives too. Best to get it checked out,I also meant to ask about your headache earlier, sorry.

OrangeBlossom2 · 08/09/2013 18:15

Caz sounds like you have been busy and probably just overdid things but I would definitely call MW today to be sure.

Rachel it feels good to get jobs in the house done doesn't it! I hope you can get things relatively tidy before the baby makes an appearance.

I think we have finally got everything we need for the baby! Woohoo! Tired from shopping so doing newspaper puzzles in my breastfeeding chair having a quiet cup of tea. Ah bliss. Enjoying it while I still can!

I also bought a pair of black jeggings which are still smart enough for work and a long wooly wraparound cardigan from jojo maman bebe so I have at least one top and one bottom item of clothing to wear when the weather gets colder. I don't want to spend a fortune on bigger maternity clothes at this late stage but with the rain pouring I looked a bit silly in my floaty maxi dress today! I thought I would get some wear out of them afterwards until I shrink back too. DH was very understanding of the expense, I think probably to escape a miserable trip to primark!

Nat, are you having second that's about your boy name choices?

Slippysnow · 08/09/2013 18:35

Good evening all,

Just been catching up, lots of exciting developments and short waits for some... Good luck nelly and legally and anyone else I have missed! Also sorry so many are being jabbed with needles

I like Lenny, I think it's quite a cool name and you don't hear it that often.

Cant remember who asked about who was having The jabbing pains and what the midwife had said, I raised the question and someone spoke to a midwife and said it is the baby's head putting pressure on the cervix (and then did a pushing fist against their palm action) - sorry I can't remember any names!

I feel pretty prepared, not being smug, but I'm attempting to do nannying up until my due date so will need to be especially prepared to stop myself from running out of time.

A question for you all, what will you be leaving on your grand departure from the hospital ward? We can't all look like Kate Middleton but I thought as pictures will be taken it would be nice to look relatively nice, but the weather could be difficult.

Slippysnow · 08/09/2013 18:45

Also to those whose pets have developed clingyitis my staffy has become ridiculously soppy and is currently nusseling in under my arm, slightly irritating but have to keep calm and realise he must be sensing changes, the book I read suggested keeping as normal as possible not over compensate because it will be difficult to carry on once the baby is here

roofio87 · 08/09/2013 18:46

slippy I imagine I'll be wearing the same I've been wearing all weekend, jogging bottoms, a t shirt and hoodie!! comfort above anything else for me!!!

Flyer747 · 08/09/2013 18:58

Roofio as we're both in Liverpool it's mandatory we go into hospital and leave in our pyjamas, ugg boots and a hoodie, oh and maybe our Velcro rollers too GrinGrin

Smitten1981 · 08/09/2013 19:07

Thanks Tucking. I'm all for it if it helps during the birth, but I'm a bit worried about doing it wrong as they weren't that descriptive in class and the book's instructions are a bit confusing. I'll google it.

Just taken the dog out for a long walk with DH as we're trying to recall train, so have to walk for ages to get to an enclosed field. My feet are aching so badly. I feel like a weeble at the moment.

Gonna put them up for the night and watch X Factor.

Natalieand · 08/09/2013 19:09

Tbh orange we don't seem to have even really had first thoughts our short list as such is more a list of names we don't hate lol and dh re-found the name books today so has been looking through them again, I honestly feel like we will never ever find a name for this poor baby.....

Thanks for your thoughts on Lenny though ladies.

If u really liked a name and everytime u told someone about it they hated it would u still choose it or would it actually put u off? Xx

The cot is now officially assembled :-) will facebook a pic shortly. 35 weeks tommorow..... Ugh will it ever end?

Pinkforboys · 08/09/2013 19:14

Lol you liverpool girls!

If we're fessing up names nat, can I finally ask you all for your opinion of mine?
I finally braved up and told DH them this morning and would like some 2nd/3rd/4th opinions too...so...[deep breath]...
no 1. for me is Sasha
no 2. Annie
no 3. Willow (though would involve renaming our cat!!)
DH likes them all but did know a male Sasha when at school. DS is 'Ash' (short for Ashley) which is also a boy-girl name (which has always appealed to me) We quite like the idea of having names that go together.
Other factor is that MiL is 'Ann'. Stupidly only dawned on me today that they might be too similar... Confused
Middle name/s will be Lily or Lily Rose as they are in our families.

All polite comments welcome!!

Natalieand · 08/09/2013 19:21

I love willow lily out of those 3

Names hovering about in my head are dexter Harrison Louie Lenny theo bailey none are really favouring over others and its makin me feel very unorganised not having a clue what to call the poor little mite. I'm sure something will crop up but I like asking u ladies as u can be honest and I can get pols opinions without spilling our name options to ppl in RL lo

roofio87 · 08/09/2013 19:28

flyer you're right, don't want to look too over dressed!! maybe I'll buy some special outdoor pyjamas for afterwards!!Wink

tuckingfits · 08/09/2013 19:37

Well since we can discuss anything on our thread... smitten we were told to use our thumb. Insert (bleurgh!) and use a gentle sweeping motion in a sort of semi-circle or horse shoe shape pushing gently back towards your bottom. It's bizarre & if you have "help" it can rapidly escalate into something else!

On the names front I like all your suggestions natalie. I wouldn't be put off by peoples reactions. He will be your baby & will become his name if you know what I mean. People can be very quick to comment & that's why I am deliberately vague when asked if we have a name. I don't want to hear opinions in case they don't like our possible names. We are fairly set on Merryn I think, and I don't care what rl people think. Told parents very early & they weren't too keen but it has grown on them & whatever we call her in the end will grow on them because they will love her.

char1eston · 08/09/2013 19:40

It's taken me a while to catch up so sorry if I miss off any mentions.

orange - what little shits. Hope your neighbours manage to id them.

tucking - can't believe your work. It's amazing how some companies take the piss. Hope you get it sorted.

nelly, legally and skull - will be thinking of you over the next few days and looking forward to hearing some birth announcements soon Grin

diege - I too am suffering with the pain in the arse piles. Am taking lactulose to make everything a bit looser but anusol appears to be doing nothing. Going to try to get to the docs this week to see if they can give me something else. Already have my doughnut cushion ready for post birth as that was the worse pain I had - stitches, not a problem. Bum grapes, awful. Sympathies to anyone in the same situation Hmm

My other pregnancy pain is stinging skin above the ribs - does anyone else have it? Had it with dd too and it's got to the point where I can't wear anything on my top half (good job I've finished work!). It gets numb too. Am hoping that it subsides a bit when 'Fuffa' (dd's name for the baby) drops a bit. Can't happen too soon.

OrangeBlossom2 · 08/09/2013 19:44

Pink for boys. I am not sure about Ash and Sash, I used to babysit siblings called Paul and Paula and I thought it was a bit odd... Also I know a husband and wife called Ash and Tash which makes people giggle when introduced to them... Though Sasha is nice and goes with either of those middle names or both together (Sasha Lily Rose).

Annie is my favourite and was on our list for a while. We discounted it because DHs aunt is also called Ann and she is the sort of person to tell everyone the baby is named after her. I am sure MIL would only take it as a compliment if she thought it was similar. Annie Rose sounds lovely.
Would you always associate the name Willow with your cat? How long have you had it?!

Nat I still like Theo best out of your names but definitely go with the name you like, people will like it once it is attached to your baby and will associate it with them rather than anything else. We are not telling anyone in RL as I don't want people to spoil any names we choose.

Natalieand · 08/09/2013 19:59

Thanks for all the name advice everyone :-) xx

Wit regards to leaving hospital last time I wore track suit bottoms and a vest top and cardigan. I could have left in my pyjamas and not cared any less lol. Probly wear something simular this time dh can be organised when he needs to be so I'm sure he'll sort something out come the time.

Had tonnea of braxton hicks today im certain they Rent the real deal as completely Painless and no pattern ag all jusf seems the more active i am the more they r there.

Right back to my name book with my extra healthy choc buttons and lemonade.

Hope today's ctg went well falcon as we've not heard from u... If we have then my apologies as I must have missed it xx

Sorry u didn't get your scan legally hope next day or so runs smoothly

orange can u claim on your car insurance for vandalism?

OrangeBlossom2 · 08/09/2013 20:04

Natalie we have told the police so we have a reference number if we decide to claim, but I think it will be cheaper to fix it ourselves than pay the excess and have our premium go up.
