Am completely failing to anywhere near keep up now - I have missed a week and it will take me a week to catch up! I will try and do better next week Smile

Can anyone summarise for me? Any babies, and other highlights?

HotSoupDumpling · 08/09/2013 10:59

Will post properly when I get back from a quick holiday - just wanted to say, tucking, that is utterly unacceptable and unprofessional behaviour from your HR department and you should not lose out on one penny due to their incompetence. I would definitely set out in emails/writing that you are giving them until X date to resolve the issue before you write to the CEO. I can imagine it's very stressful dealing with them but at the same time it's not fair to lose out on the money.

skullbabe · 08/09/2013 11:02

also bit the bullet three days ago and went for a wax - I really hadn't been paying that much attention to my bikini area for months and so massive overgrowth - but it was all done thoroughly in 15 minutes.

just to add my name to the bra evangelist crew - ever since I was fitted at Bravissmo properly 6 years ago I have to have proper fitting bras - now fit 34H - which feels humongous but the fit is awesome.

Pinkforboys · 08/09/2013 11:11

Continuing the bra thread...My Hotmilk bra is def too small (I completely misunderstood their guidance on sizing) so if any of you ladies on the similarly smaller side of bustline think a 36C might do you for bf let me know and I'll send it to you it's this one. Better that than just leaving it in the nearest charity shop!

OrangeBlossom2 · 08/09/2013 11:21

Some little shits have thrown a brick at DHs car smashing the front light and denting the bonnet. [Angry] A neighbour posted a note through the door this morning to say they witnessed it. Usually we both park on the drive but as I am too big to squeeze through the gap between cars now DH has been parking on the street next to the house. Still drivable but I am so cross! That's my way of getting to hospital.

tuckingfits · 08/09/2013 11:43

Little shtes, orange*. I hate people who have no respect for the property of others. I interrupted two men who had broken into DP's van on our driveway last year & were helping themselves to his tools. They got away but without any of his stuff. Really shakes you up. Have also had my car keyed several times when working in my previous job so I know how distressing mindless vandalism can be. And expensive to repair.

Thanks all for the sympathy, and thanks to diege - I'll definitely have a look into that group you mentioned.

hotsoup all my communications for the last 6 or 7 weeks have been via email because I gave up trying to achieve anything by telephone when it became clear that nothing was being dealt with. Good idea re giving them a warning shot about CEO. Am sure he won't care but I've got to do everything I can. The ridiculous thing is that I was only working about 20 hours a week for them,so although I say they owe me 3 weeks hold,it's only pro rata. So it's not even a dent in their highly profitable pocket, but it would ease things here & if we got the money before baby is born might mean DP being able to take an extra day or two off when she does arrive. He is self employed so will have the minimum time off.

Argh,it's just such a farce.xx

diege · 08/09/2013 11:50

tucking, have just checked and Maternity Alliance is now Maternity Action -looks v.useful.
pink IF no-one else wants the bra (and I feel very cheeky even asking only joining yesterday Grin) then I would happily take it off your hands, and would paypal you something for it. That is the size I'll be, but definitely last in the queue if there is one Smile.

diege · 08/09/2013 11:51

Sympathies too orange, what horrible news to wake up to Sad

legallyblond · 08/09/2013 12:10

Poor you Orange. DH used to teach in Hackney and once all his tyres were slashed and another time acid was thrown all over his car taking most of the paint off... He was v shaken up, despite being an over 6ft rugby player...

Had the injection in my thigh... VERY painful at the time but fine now. But..... Stuck in hospital as the midwife wanted a "quick" listen of the heartbeats... As ever (and this hs happened every time), she cannot be sure she's picked up two heartbeats so I need to wait for a dr to come and scan... And they've both just gone into theatre. Great. The auxiliary me has kindly given me coffee and chocolate biscuits... But soooo boring!

MotherOfNations · 08/09/2013 12:10

I've got to have steroid injections too this time and now you've got me worried. They said first injection on Friday before c-section. I took this to mean on the actual morning of the op but it must be the week before then. Is that not a bit too far in advance? Googled and normal time frame is 24-48 hours before.

Little shits Orange. That's all you need right now.

legallyblond · 08/09/2013 12:13

MoN - I'm having injections at 48 and 24 hours before... But apparently it "lasts" for 6 weeks....

Natalieand · 08/09/2013 12:15

MoN I read that the steroid injections are effective for 6 weeks after administered. Xx

legally hope all is fine on the scan, enjoy your coffee and biscuits x

orange what mindless thuggery!! Some people have no bloody shame!

OrangeBlossom2 · 08/09/2013 12:19

Glad the pain didn't last too long legally. Annoying that you have to hang around, but you get a sneak preview of your babies!

I had my car back window smashed in my gated CCTV school carpark a few months ago too. We don't even live in a bad area! I hope we bring up our baby to have more respect.

cazboldy · 08/09/2013 12:29

diege my dc are 16, 13, 12, 7 and 6 Smile

Diege and Mon I have had some comments, but have avoided telling most people Grin a couple of people asked me just before the holidays, and a lot of people have been very shocked this week on the school run Grin as I have rather expanded over the holidays! but most have said congrats rather than asking if I have a telly/ have lost my mind etc!

My family are generally far from chuffed for us though, I think they despair of me!

Have also had some funny convos with strangers who ask if it's my first (or 2nd/3rd if i have my my youngest dc with me) and I love seeing their faces when I say no, my 6th Grin

No advice with piles i'm afraid - just sympathy! Don't want to tempt fate, but i have managed to avoid that delight of pregnancy so far!

tucking sorry work are being twats!!

Pannacotta - Yes, am having this one at home again Smile We rearranged my bedroom yesterday, Not feeling massively prepared, but not lots left to do either - Just wash baby's clothes and pack my bag. I have an assignment due Thursday, mw visit on Thurs too (so want to get house nice and tidy) am going to advertise my horse for sale this week too! we also have a calf show next weekend so 4 of them to wash and clip and prepare, so will get to finish my preparations after then!!

Orange sorry about your dh's car! little sh*ts!!

I had an awful night. couldn't sleep because I have a throbbing head. Literally feels like it's pounding. Sad

diege · 08/09/2013 13:20

caz, that's great you have people congratulating you - think I've had one congrat! My friends have been fine (though work colleagues rather (at best) 'neutral'...) but my family like yours have been rather negative. They won't acknowledge the pregnancy at all other than inform me (via the dcs) that the names we have picked are 'horrible' Hmm. I only see them 3/4 times a year so they're not thinking of the implications for childcare etc!!
On the names front is was Tabitha or Beatrice/Beatrix for a girl and Laurie for a boy. Seems it is a boy after the scan, though same sonographer at the FMC gave me high odds for girls when scanned before harmony test...Have bought neutral just in case but pretty sure it is a boy.

Racheld33 · 08/09/2013 13:41

Yes tarlia all finished with teeth now for the next 12 months Grin

We have had 'men' in this week, doing all the jobs that have been piling up for the past few years.... Radiators fitted, bathroom fans fixing, leaking taps replaced and this week got more booked in for new blinds, replacement of damaged glass, and some electrics. My house is a tip, but no point tidying till they've all finished. This baby better not come this week!

orange sorry to hear about car damage, some people have no respect for other people's property!

Warlin · 08/09/2013 14:43

Gosh I really can't keep up with the thread! Ds napping, dh golfing, so grabbing a rare moment to myself :) legally sorry you're injecting hurt but how exiting, only one more day before they're here...and you too skull exciting! Will be jealous when yours is over and you are having newborn snuggles.

I'm having a ECV on Thursday...just want it over and praying that baby turns. Totally fed up being pregnant now :(

Hope everyone is having a good weekend

MotherOfNations · 08/09/2013 15:37

I've just asked 4 yr old dd what she wants for het packed lunch tomorrow to be told "same as yesterday". When I told her she wasn't at school yesterday she said "yes I was. That's your baby brain again". She seriously had me thinking for a minute.

textbook · 08/09/2013 15:58

Diege I'm no expert, but from what I understand things are better (i.e. much less dangerous) if the placenta is more than 2cm from the OS (or 3cm if the placenta is posterior for some reason), but more than 5cm away is the best case scenario for a natural birth. Mine is posterior and 2.4cm away, and I still need a Caesarian.

I would ask at your consultant to clarify if I were you - when is your scan? I'll be keeping my fingers crossed it moves for you, we've had a lot of placenta-moving luck on this thread so far Thanks

JellyCurls · 08/09/2013 16:04

legally how did your scan go?

Natalieand · 08/09/2013 16:06

How did it go with the scan in the end legally?

Also just want to gauge people's opinions on the name

Lenny

Be brutal lol

diege · 08/09/2013 16:16

I think Lennys a very sweet name. You may get 'Lenny the Lion' comments (which are cute in themselves), but then that's me probably showing my age (43) and no-one else will even know what I'm on about Grin. I think it's the sort of name that's cute but also traditional-ish.
textbook, many thanks for the info'. I have a consultant's appointment straight after the scan (Thursday pm) so will make sure I get all my questions out then - I am natural worrier so will want to err on the side of caution if it's 'borderline'.

Smitten1981 · 08/09/2013 16:17

I can't believe we're going to have babies on the thread in the next few days! Good luck everyone.

GT, was it you who said Witchhazel is good for sore bits after birth? I bought some today but it said not to use on open wounds (I'm thinking that includes stitches).

I also bought some raspberry leaf capsules, the guy in Holland and Barratt said to start them now as they take about 6 weeks to work. I've read elsewhere not to start till much later on though.

Just about to re-read my hypnobirthing book on perenial massage. Really don't want to have to do it, but they said to start at 34 weeks, sob.

Natalie - I instantly thought of Lenny Henry.

JellyCurls · 08/09/2013 16:34

Arnica tablets are great for post birth healing

PseudoBadger · 08/09/2013 16:35

I'd have Leo rather than Lenny Nat.
Hope all is ok legally?
