Hi all. Just checking in although not up to date as you all chat too much for me to keep up! We are off on holiday tomorrow, can't wait for a last bit of sunshine and to dip my toes in the sea but I'm dreading being the big whale on the beach.
When we come back that's it we are on lockdown and I'm going to nest and pack that bloody hospital bag that I said I would have done by now!
Am taking my notes with me and will do my best not to have a baby abroad!!

MotherOfNations · 06/09/2013 21:52

I'm hoping to drop kids at school on the morning of my c-section then my sis who's kids go to the same schools can collect them and bring them up for the evening visit. Dp can get them off to school next morning before coming back up to the hospital to see me and baby. That's the beauty of a planned c-section I guess.

roxvox · 06/09/2013 22:20

natalieand could you pack your DD's overnight bag but pop a post it on top which says 'TEDDY' on it so you'll remember to grab her teddy last minute?

Haha pseudo that made me laugh. I said it to DH and he wondered if whoever ordered the voucher for you might have thought it was a maternal brand (I.e. wagaMAMA)...

My work gave me a £50 John Lewis voucher yesterday. Today I spent £34 in there (Bravado bra) and completely forgot to use it. Doh! Also spent £36 in Next and forgot to use the £30 gift card I have had in my purse since my birthday in May. I'm going to blame baby brain.

I've had period pains all day today. Don't really come and go like braxton hicks, just a constant dull ache. its probably just my body gearing up for labour and getting stretched out by my ever growing baby isn't it?!

roxvox · 06/09/2013 22:33

Have a lovely holiday shooting!

MoN I do like the idea of knowing when baby is going to arrive! That and also knowing that you definitely won't go over 40 weeks.

This weekend is mine and DH's last weekend as just the 2 of us. My parents are coming up next weekend, and then after that I (and DH too whenever he's not working away) will be staying at my Mum and Dad's until after baby decides to make an appearance!

Had a lovely first day of maternity leave. Bought pretty much everything else I had on my list of 'baby stuff to buy' so I am pretty sorted now. In a slightly mad moment I bought 3 packs of 5 maternity bed pads. It only occurred to me when I got home that I cannot imagine I am going to need 5, let alone 15. Oh well. Baby brain again. I will have to try and find another use for them (hmm... makeshift disposable changing mats maybe).

I'm 37 weeks tomorrow... Given I'm now unlikely to have these babies in the next hour or so (!!!), I've carried them to term!!!! Yay! 60% of twins are born before 36 weeks so I feel very blessed!

Tarlia · 06/09/2013 22:44

mon a planned CS sounds great for that. I'd love the control.

Nat you need a spare. I just bought a spare and switched it. He hasn't noticed that its fluffier luckily.

rox if you are planning to breastfeed they will be great as Ieaked loads at night until milk settled down, if a pad slipped out of place or if he went longer than boobs expected. Even the best pads couldn't contain it in those first weeks.

Tarlia · 06/09/2013 22:46

Congratulations, legally. What an amazing achievent and especially with all that worry at the start with needing the stitch. Which day is your CD? So excited to hear which combo you have :)

Tarlia · 06/09/2013 22:46

*CS

PseudoBadger · 06/09/2013 23:16

Well done legally!!

claphammama · 06/09/2013 23:22

congrats legally! Also can't wait to hear your babies' sex / name news Smile

natalie you make me laugh - did you go through his facebook too? Grin whenever it happens, I'm sure it will be lovely and you will be touched by how many people care about you and this new baby.

so jealous of all you ladies already on maternity leave! I now have 1 week left, 5 working days, 40 working hours... haven't started counting seconds yet

*smitten" LOL, these nappies certainly came at a price, haven't they? Smile

pseudo I love wagamama! it made me smile though!

DP felt guilty and rotten after this morning - left work earlier to make sure he can get the car and collect me from the station to save me the 10 min walk, cooked a nice dinner and has been spoiling me the entire evening. He also went shopping for food earlier and bought some little containers for baby's food... not sure he realises they won't be used for the next 6-7 months but it was really sweet... so he is now forgiven. And legally you are right - they change totally the minute the baby becomes "real"...

have a good holiday shooting!

and yes, it's been a bit quiet today... will we have som baby news soon? flyer are you still there? MrsO? funkky? etc...

Wickedgirl · 06/09/2013 23:36

Well done legally........that must be a relief!

Falcon, glad you're out and you're both ok

In terms of childcare, because mine are so much older (dd nearly 15 and boys almost 13 and 9.5), they don't need someone with them constantly. So far I have gone into labour at night and have given birth quickly. If that's what happens again, we will leave the children sleeping and just leave a note for dd to say what's happened. Their godfather lives just around the corner and can come over as soon as we need him. He can work from home whenever he likes so can just work from here if needed.

I hope you all have a good nights sleep xx

Nellysgirl · 06/09/2013 23:57

Hey everyone!
Hope everything is ok with you all. Not been around for a while - all moves a bit fast for me on here!
Just wanted to let you know that I went into triage yesterday with painful BH and it turnes out I'm 1cm in slow labour and have since had a show.
Just wanted to warn you all to get checked out if similar symptoms xxx

GTbaby · 07/09/2013 00:45

Rov maternity pads will be ideal disposable changing matts. And u can use them under babies bed sheets as a throw away mattress protector.

chickieno1 · 07/09/2013 01:39

nellysgirl hope everything is ok! How many weeks are you?? Is this your first? Thinking of you

Congrats and well done legally cooking your babies to term :). Not long til you meet them now!

Great you've got a date mon hope it doesn't change.

And you too tarlia

clapham sorry you've had a rough week. Hopefully next week ll fly by and you'll be on mat leave then. I can't believe you were walking up that hill at this stage whatever about the rain! Your dp and ds's dad should set up a rota between them of who'll do drop offs

pseudo do you work with guys? What exactly are you going to do with your toddler and baby while you're out at wagamama??

Hope your shower is tomorrow nat

Have a good holiday shooting

I'm having loads of Braxton hicks and pressure which is crap. The last few days I've had nausea as well almost like ms! Anyone else have this? Also quite irritable and then I feel bad for snapping. Esp as PILs still here. They're being very sweet though trying to help out with things like grocery shopping and mil has put ds to bed twice which is nice for all of us :). Nice for him to see his grandparents too! I just have to try my bet not to get irritated by little things or comments etc.

Ok I'm sure I've forgotten stuff I wanted to say.........

Thanks everyone about the muslin advice

And pink I think the v hot showers/baths were probably to try and reduce infections related to birth injury/tears?? I'll ask my dad more :). Great convo to have with him eh Grin

OrangeBlossom2 · 07/09/2013 04:34

Hope all is well nelly. Are you 37 weeks yet?

Woohoo legally, what an achievement! Well done!

Maternity mats - I thought the spares would be good insurance against post natal bleeding, various baby fluids etc...? Ad will put one in DHs car for the trip to hospital. Though I will probably just get 5! Wink

Roofio how are you now?

Enjoy your holiday shooting. Fingers (legs?!) crossed it waits until you are back in the country to arrive.

Listened to my natal hypnotherapy cd last night and again fell asleep - not yet heard the end! Not slept much since then though. Feeling sick (big pasta dinner), sore hips, sore throat from going back to talking constantly all day at work and a cold stopping me breathing and doing sneezes which jolt and hurt everywhere else. Also bad dream I was bleeding but couldn't find midwives number as my notes had got mixed up. Feeling sorry for myself!

MrsHoratioNelson · 07/09/2013 05:28

That's great legally

And good luck nelly

OrangeBlossom2 · 07/09/2013 05:39

The clocks change on 27th October. I wonder if that will affect any birthday times.

Got a free weekend unexpectedly so making a list of jobs to do to get the last few things ready with DH today and tomorrow.

Natalieand · 07/09/2013 06:40

Wow nelly not sure whether to say how exciting it not! I guess it is even tho I don't no how far u r as they would be trying to stop your labour if it was too early?

Enjoy your holiday *shooying- where r u using?

clapham.... The Facebook discovery was entirely dh fault!! He left his Facebook logged in on the iPad with the Facebook app open and the inbox message open on the screen....stupid man.!!

Seem to have woken up with a slightly sore and swollen throat this morning :-(

Excellent news legally xx and just a few days till they will finally be here! Don't forget to let us no how if all goes cos obviously were most important when you've just given birth lol

tarlia the dog teddy is irreplaceable. She never had a comforter until she was about 16 months old when one of my mums old ladies she looks after brought her a dog hot water bottle for Christmas. I of course took the hot water bottle out and since then has loved the dog, she rubs it on her face and I have no idea where its from plus it was brought nearly 2 years ago now. Silly me.

funkky · 07/09/2013 06:45

Still here Clapham, been playing catch up with this thread and the last one but given up now as moves soooo fast. How did your placenta check go? sorry must have missed your post!

37+3 today, Braxton hicks, horrible right hip pain, peeing like every 15 minutes, new house a bit unprepared for baby and getting quite emotional about it. also have first MW appointment in new area next week as just moved house. But bags all packed and ready to go.

DH is a bit panicky too and every sound I make, he thinks am in labour Grin and he has been allowed to work fom home till baby comes so hope his attention does not get too irritable.

nelly hope everything progresses well for you, are you back home or did they keep you in?

Pinkforboys · 07/09/2013 08:30

Oh wow nelly it sounds like you'll be giving us the baby on this thread! I hope all went well for you last night- we'll be looking out for your news today and thinking of you.

and Legally that's great news that you've reached 37w. I was with a mum-of-twins last night who had hers at 30w! (she had cs as one was breech) Well done you!

I did the classic last night- pulled out my skinny black Seraphine jeans to wear out now it's cooler. They went on. But I couldn't breathe Hmm How much have we all grown over the summer?! nothing to do with ice-creams and cake

MotherOfNations · 07/09/2013 08:46

How exciting but scarey nelly. We're all thinking about you.

I really feel like a lazy day in the house but I've told dd she can have her cousin and a couple of friends over for her birthday so I suppose I'd better get out of bed and go food shopping. She wants to go and spend some of her birthday money too but I'm not sure I'm up to being dragged around town in the rain.
Youngest dd is off to my sisters house for my nieces birthday party earlier in the afternoon. She's in invited 20 kids so I feel I should stay and help.
I usually get cabin fever if I'm stuck in the house but lately it's all I want to do.

MotherOfNations · 07/09/2013 08:54

I think nelly is just over 36 weeks. I seem to remember thinking that her due date was around the same time I'd be having my c-section.

Natalieand · 07/09/2013 09:10

Further investigations have revealed that the baby shower is now possibly on September 28th which seems a bit late to me as ill be 37+5:-0

thethreeblondies · 07/09/2013 09:10

Just seen on fb that an old friend from school had her first baby last night, nearly 2 weeks overdue, 9lb 14!!!!Grin
