Hi guys, sil's wedding this weekend so busy, lots of family around.

Have caught up with it all I think, welcome to baking. Isadly can't join in the pie conversation as I dislike pastry.

Not much new here other than now all Mr Owl's family know about the baby and are very excited.

Back to work tomorrow, I'm not sure I'll manage the 7am alarm though!

PiratesMam · 01/09/2013 22:06

I've had to skim-read all the pie talk because I might puke, which is vair vair sad as in my normal non-preg life I love pie Sad I was taken by the chips and gravy talk though.

Hello Baking! How have you been feeling?

Really fecking busy weekend and now I need to collapse. Must just tell you all though that we told the kids about the baby today as people keep talking about it in front of them. It was a lot more fun than I thought it would be - they were both DELIGHTED! Obviously, the boy wants a boy and the girl wants a girl. Hmm...

commsgirl · 01/09/2013 22:29

Pirates Bless them! I'm glad they're excited :)

PramQueen1971 · 01/09/2013 22:50

Welcome, Baking.

Jolls, I was worried you would all think I have no life the amount of shit I've posted today and you'd be right

I'm off shopping tomorrow with my birthday money. I am buying a non-maternity bra (ahh! bliss!), a maternity swimming cozzie, a Chanel mascara, returning my too-small mat clothes to H&M and, finally, will be going to the World Famous Bury Market for a shitload of quality meat at knock-down prices. I was in rehab in Bury and it was my job every Saturday to source the cheapest cuts of meat for the whole unit (24 residents) with an improbably tiny budget. I cannot tell you how adept I became at haggling with the man on the meat stall and it will be interesting to see if he remembers me two years later.

I intend to buy juicy steaks, chops, chicken and a kilo of lamb neck fillet. All for about a tenner Grin

apprenticemamma · 01/09/2013 23:16

pram I can just picture you haggling with the barra boy s m'luv! Enjoy your shopping trip. Dm is here been drafted in as ds has been excommunicated from nursery till the pox has healed.. She made the tastiest leg of lamb today slaver slaver , damn it was good! exercise - only walking and taking ds to toddler gym and swimming. Mainly bc hard to get out. Used to do loads and still ran last time pregnant. My greatest recommendation is antenatal yoga absolutely rocked and i'll do it again. Helped me deal with general stressors at the time with FIL and helped build my labour confidence and fitness and made some life long buddies for me and my boy. If u can manage it go!

Jolleigh · 01/09/2013 23:21

Pram, does the fact that I noticed it had been half an hour not make me worse?

Beccadugs · 01/09/2013 23:40

Evening ladies!

Just checking back in after a weekend away with the ILs (hard work!!) so I'm not forgotten about on the thread Wink

Far too much to catch up on/comment on, but glad everyone seems to be doing generally OK...

Had a look at myself in the mirror and am horrified with how I look. Maternity clothes shopping was very depressing and I ce back with nothing...

Back to school for me on Tuesday, not sure how I'm going to cope as I am still feeling pretty dreadful. The smer holidays have been a real blessing!

BakingEating · 02/09/2013 06:03

Morning all! Why am I awake? I'm one hour ahead of you all because I live in Deutschland but still...

comms my dh and I worked apart 4 nights/week last autumn. The trick was to use Skype/FaceTime a lot, do some bulk cooking at the weekend (because otherwise I just ate eggy bread all week) and to be strict about bedtime (or I sat up all night reading).

BakingEating · 02/09/2013 06:14

Pirates I've been feeling fairly rough, but the only bit I really hate is the heartburn. That and not wanting to eat any pork or potatoes, which are the bedrock of the local (ahem) cuisine.

Hope everyone is starting to feel loads better and much less worried now that we're starting to head into the second trimester. I've read a bit further back in the threads now and I'm v. impressed with how tough you all are.

FrankelInFoal · 02/09/2013 07:08

Commsgirl, my advice is to keep yourself occupied and get into a routine. I'm lucky I have my degree to do so that keeps me occupied a lot of the time. Regular phone calls/Skype will be plenty to keep you in touch.

if you think about it you probably already spend the vast majority of your time apart so it's not that big a difference. I know that's easy for me to say as its all I've ever known, but I have to say I've never quite understood couples who make a big deal about spending a week or two apart at a time. I'm afraid I'm not sympathetic when I've had to spend months apart from DH knowing full well he could potentially be in dangerous situations.

commsgirl · 02/09/2013 07:35

That's what I keep telling myself Frank. I guess it's just all relative and because DP generally works from home it does feel like a really big change for us. Definitely wasn't looking for sympathy and thank you for the advice. You too Baking :)

Any scans today?

FrankelInFoal · 02/09/2013 08:01

Sorry, I realise my post could have come across as harsh. I didn't mean it that way. I guess what I meant was, yes DH and I are a unit and we love each other very much but we are also individuals and capable of functioning on our own. I definitely wasn't referring to you Commsgirl

commsgirl · 02/09/2013 08:11

That's exactly the way I took it, no need for the grovel :)

FrankelInFoal · 02/09/2013 08:16

Phew!

LyraSilvertongue · 02/09/2013 08:43

Just taken DP to airport. Not sure I dare mention how much I'll miss him as its only for two weeks Wink

I'm exhausted. Had to get up at the crack of dawn. Yawwwwwn.

commsgirl · 02/09/2013 08:54

Lyra DP left for the week last night and I had the best nights sleep I've had in weeks. Silver linings :)

HotCrossPun · 02/09/2013 09:05

Morning!

We whizzed through that last thread. I can't keep up! How is everybody feeling? Any scans this week?

Jolleigh · 02/09/2013 09:49

Mine is Thursday PM Smile

commsgirl · 02/09/2013 09:52

Mine is tomorrow. Eek!

mimili · 02/09/2013 10:09

Morning All,

The sickness is back today and I feel like poo. (which is ironic seeing as (TMI ? Sorry) I cannot do one!) It?s funny how I am happy to share this with you all but wouldn?t tell anyone in RL!!

I am also very anxious as I have my scan tomorrow ? so hopefully this time tomorrow, I will be able to finally relax a little. I cannot think about anything else for now which is a right pain right now as I am the only one in work as everyone else is on holiday/off sick etc so I have lots and lots to do!

Hope everyone has a great day!

mimili · 02/09/2013 10:10

comms what time is yours? Mine is tomorrow too!

PramQueen1971 · 02/09/2013 10:16

Baking, I was reading just the other day that German men have the largest penises in Europe. Is your husband German?

Frank and Comms: "Fight! Fight! Fight..!"

Lyra, man up, woman! Wink

Rockchick1984 · 02/09/2013 10:16

Ugh, my upset tummy is back Sad think I preferred the vomiting!

PramQueen1971 · 02/09/2013 10:17

Why do the emboldened asterisks not work if you use a colon immediately after?

RaspberrysAndIcecream · 02/09/2013 10:53

Oh crap I'm back at work & I feel soooooo sick. Had to pull the car over on the drive in so I could gag and not crash!!! I'm not sick just retching - sometimes it feels like it would be better if I puked tho!!!

Does anyone else get Insomnia? I've never had it before but have developed it through this pregnancy so far - I was wide awake at 3am but so so tired. It's horrible.

Welcome Baking!!
